Built my last bike during the pandemic, when there simply weren't any affordable parts available. So everything on it is top-of-the-line. 😂 It's a solid $2,000 bike any day of the week and I really don't regret it. The quality is just so awesome. It's just so smooth. I love it.

In August of 2018 i bought a new old stock 2012 Virgo FreeAgent, it was $299.99 and i bought it on a tax free weekend. I rotated the tires two years ago and replaced a bottom bracket bearing twice, considering i road it through snow and rain every day i consider the bike a win.

Just save up and get a 3-400 dollar bike. And pretty much anything is better than Walmart bikes. Same with their skateboards.

@@MrBENTPINuntil the frame snaps and you get wrecked. saw wal mart bikes have welds brake just from watching people load them in their cars. Kink was always the best value before the pandemic for new school once FBM shut down ops. I would never let my kids ride a wal mart bike. ER trip in the making
Just out of curiosity, are you affiliated with kink because it's kind of odd that every argument made against those 5 bikes were all initially a kink you fall back on. Not that I disagree with you because you made tons of honest and fair points, it would just carry a little more weight in my opinion if you showed a little variety in branding because surely kink can't be monopolizing the 450-600 bike market lol. Appreciate the time and effort put into the video nonetheless and now its time to see those top 7 you mentioned. Cheers.

I snagged one of those 100 dollar curbs before they sold out. Went to a kid who needed a new bike and sold it to them for the cost I paid. No markup. Solid bike especially at 1oo bucks
Never herd of any of these companies besides knowing who Matt Hoffman is. My day it was GT,Haro,redline,mongoose etc.
any complete over 400 that has less than a trimoloy frame and a sealed double wall rear and a sealed front hub is a rip off, people are getting screwed over these days
It's been that way since the 80s as far as I know. When I was a kid all I can afford to do is look through the bike shop in window. A lot of bikes for 2 to 300 in 1985 money. Even worse I remember skateboards being $170 way back when I'm 47 so bout 35 years ago

I agree the Sunday Scout isnt worth $500 bucks. Not when you buy a Subrosa Letnum for the same money. I do love my Soundwave V3. But I even have upgraded a few parts on it after getting it. Because eventually it will be my ramp & dirt bike. I havent decided if I will build a Kink, Cult, Fiend, Fit yet for street bike. I'm leaning towards Cult or Fiend

Hey Dougsterbob, just in case you didn't realize, the Fiend bikes are based on blood types. Sounds weird when you say "O minus" its "O negative" or "O positive".
Just built up a vintage verde yeagle. All aftermarket minus the chain. New wheels, bars and stem. Odyssey forks, demo cranks. Lookin to sell it for $400. Is that fair? Can type out a parts list if needed

If industry people aren't aware that they're ripping customers off, that's no bueno for anyone. Sad thing is, they know exactly what they're doing but they don't care cause their pockets are more important than ours. If people wonder why skateboarding has way, way more people making a living with it than BMX does, this is great part of the reason why. Brands are slowly turning into walmarts
I have 3 bikes right now, technically one is my brother’s but he don’t ride anymore so I use it but I built one fully custom, dont rmember any specs on it but its the best out of the three. Second is a mongoose I got for my 12 birthday, changed the chain and cranks and grips and tires and took the brakes off, rides better than stock but definitely nowhere close to my custom. Third is also custom, my brother built it originally and since he stopped riding I broke the chain and got a better one, changed cranks and tires, and got new bars, overall this one is a 7/10 in my opinion.
any $500 bike with single wall rims is a red sign, dont buy.

Im 13 and really short. I went to woodward for scootering and a kid let me try out his wildcat mini bmx bike. I really liked it so i bought a fatboy mini bmx (fatboy is more affordable) it hasn’t arrived yet but i am very excited for it.
What do you think of the fly sierra with magneto/lunar rims, 9" bars with a 21.4 top tube for $904 brand new
To put into prespective, a 50ft storage container pre covid was 2k dollars, a shortage of containers due to things being held up in ports and what not caused storage containers to get up to almost 20k. With that being said that was a huge part in the crazy price hike. Simple economics also came into play with supply and demand. It wasny all just price gouging. $300 bikes shot up to $500 during covid. Everything is back to normal now though.
Dont ride BMX, but i do ride unicycle. Sooo, my suggestion is: best unicycles to get. Yes i know theres many different RUclipsr Unicycle channels, but i think it would make a fun video

I need to start riding again cuz I'm 42 and started seeing chub. Wanna rebuild this or be forced to buy new cuz I'm bigger and heavier than I was as a teen. 5'10" 180-190lbs.
I'm looking at needing a seat, chain, repair breaks maybe, and the handle bars/clamp is stripped.
Im just looking to pedal around town ride some wheelies, jump off some curbs, and do some tail whips.
No more trash can destroyer type stuff, unless I'm 😳... But no! I have to not get tickets or jail and look stupid an old man getting in trouble. So no.
But jumps will be small no mad air, or anything cuz I'm a busted up U.S. Marine veteran on a budget.

Trick freestyle BMX bikes 🚲 are really fun!
High tensile steel is less likely to crack. Chromoly has a habit of cracking os spliting around gusset welds and dropouts.
You can put a high tensile steel frame on a frame alignment table and bend it multiple times before the steel gets "tired"
But the high tensile like you said can be bent multiple times so it’s flexible and BMX as a community believes this is no bueno it bends easier than 4130 cracks or snaps
Hi ten steel frames are fine until you start doing bigger tricks, then it becomes a hazard. If you're doing anything down a set of stairs, you're straight up gambling with serious injury. As a guy who used to cheap out on frames/parts, it's just not worth it. I've folded frames, forks, and bars doing simple shit like 180ing down a five set. There's a reason why zero pros run hi tensile steel anything
I have Y2K era GT bump, and a redline proline 24" cruiser in mint condition. Are any of these worth money? I also a lot of parts from the era of big sprockets and beefy heavy bikes, dirty harry levers, double/triple wall rims etc I don't ride bmx anymore and wanna sell it all off.

I bought a scout bike in 2021 and changed every part i could, but my front wheel is still from scout complete. Still spinning great and I wasn’t even cleaning it but i think it will break soon
My 1st bike was a 79 Huffy Pro Thunder. That bike took a beating. Finally bent the forks out.
I bought the Sunday Soundwave complete, bailed out a small fall and the bars bent pretty good. Fast forward i bought the WTP revolver complete, bailed out endless times and as a heavier dude this bike has been TOP QUALITY
The Odyssey bars on the Soundwave complete has the Lifetime Warranty. You should file a warranty claim if you haven't already.
@@LittleBigKid707b i sold the bike 2 years ago, the warranty was a hassle with the bike shop although my point was the low quality of some of those parts that came on the complete.
I hate to be “that guy” but which brand would you recommend overall? (Rode a lot when young. Well into my 30’s now and want to get back into it but things have changed A LOT in 20 years.) I’ve done some research and have it down to WTP Envy, Sunday Darkwave or possibly Sunday Wavelength. I’m 6’2’’ so it’ll have to be a 21’’ TT. Appreciate any input/insight you might have. ✌🏻

They are riding on their name. Typically over priced bikes for the quality. The only reason to get one is if the name really means a lot to you

I remember when a good chromoly redline cost less than a base level bmx these days. I will admit though, fit and finish due to modern manufacturing has improved
