The collab with Vans to me is great, because I’ve loved Vans since I was a small kid. The tires and the seats are rad and so are the grips. I also disagree with your comment about the Cult riders. @Dougsterbob So the problem with your analysis is that you are seemly only looking to the mid-higher end product to be available/sold. Don't get me wrong, I am all for a few more $$$ to get a better quality product, but companies need to cater to different income bases to sell their products. When I worked at the shop, if we only carried bikes that were $500 and above, the shop would have closed in under a month as we may have sold 2 bikes. I grew up and worked in a Bike shop in the 80s' when Freestyle was born. Got to hang out with the Pro Teams when they were at the shop and when I was not doing all that, I had to put together and sell Bikes! Anything from the low end Hi-Tense Steel Models to the $600 High End Team Models. As much as our shop sold the $250 and $350 ranged bikes for the time, we also had to have the lower end models that were $150 - $200. Haro, as much as I love my 1988 Team Model (Which I still have) was $600.... But we also sold the Haro FST which was about $200, was NOT full 4130 Chromoly, but for the area the shop was in, was much more affordable. Also my high end Haro like most (Low and High Prices Model) had one feature that appeared in time, a crack where the Seat Post/Frame meet. Didn't matter theater you spent $200 or $600, if you rode hard enough, it appeared. I did not see you bring up Hoffman Bikes, I mean, you can go into any Walmart (Which is one of you arguments that you can find Hyper in Walmart) and find a Hoffman Brand (Lower End) bike, yet you did not mention it. Is there a reason. I know your video is for "Overrated Brands". Your argument aside from an a $50 Tire (Agree there, I can get a $50 for my car!), but most of your argument is that they are not the higher quality. Again, refer to the above... Not everyone can afford the $400 frame, but maybe for $300 they can get a lower tier complete bike and get started in the sport.
I used to ride a 2013 Fit Inman 3 up until last year when the rear hub failed completely. I ride a Sunday now and the quality feels better here, the odyssey parts package are on most of their bikes too. I think Sunday has brand name pricing tho... Literally need a sale or it's not a good deal but is what it is really
I definitely agree that Cult has poor quality stuff. I rode the Vans tires for a while. 40 dollars each, the traction and strength was not there at all. Which really surprised me because of how squeaky they are when landing 180s. But if I barely turned at all on concrete or Skatelite they’d loose traction immediately and I’d slide out. They also stretch way too much. I tried to inflate em from 80 to 90 psi and they got noticeably bigger. So much that the tire became too wide for the frame. They’re supposed to be 2.4, but when inflated it would stretch to almost 2.5. Doesn’t really inspire much confidence in the structural integrity of the tire. (They’re supposed to be rated at 110 PSI). I now ride the Merritt Brian Foster tire, which I’m quite pleased with. I can’t really say anything about FIT because I haven’t bought anything from them. I also definitely agree on Hyper. I think that their marketing is quite questionable. I personally ride the Wizard frame, solely because Scotty’s bike looks awesome. And the geometry fit my needs. So far I’ve been happy with the quality of their professional parts, but I do think the actual Hyper brand should go back to focusing solely on pro BMX. Great video :)
Hey Douglas it’s great to see you doing good and I don’t know how my feed randomly popped you up but I remember riding with you in the parking garage in las cruses with you and your buddy for hours with my two buddy’s, we were the kids from Safford !!! Awesome to see you still in the bmx space
Gotta put it out there. I bought a cult dehart frame and bent the whole rear end at the seat post. It folded over like it was thin aluminum. I switched to a fit shortcut frame and haven't had any issues. I'm not standing up for fit I just had never had any issues so I can't fault them because I haven't experienced anything. But I only ride the frames. Most of my parts are odyssey besides my bars and wheels. I ride shadow or Gsport wheels (shadows are freecoaster/gsport is cassette) everything else is odyssey. Stem, fork, cranks, chain, sprocket, etc.
@evanprinzhorn I prefer shorter back ends. It makes spins out of grinds, manuals and any kind of spin like 360s so much easier. It's just easier to ride that try to throw around a bike with a long back end
I ride the Cult Crew cranks on my S&M. Haven’t had any problems yet but I wouldn’t buy one of their frames. Anyone had an issue with this crank? It seems pretty solid to me.
PLEASE do a video on eastern bike co. They’re prices have dropped insane amounts and the trail digger has a full chromoly frame, all sealed parts, and doubly wall rims for $450!!!!
@@INSIDIOUS-ONE it also doesn’t make his opinion untrue. Cult is overcharged for the level of quality they bring to the table. Mostly kids and Panza fans are riding Cult. They’re pandering to a demographic that’s mostly only hip to bmx because of the internet.
I'm 36 n ridden in years, back in the day I always wanted an S&M lol but always costed too much, my all time fav bike was a Ryan Nyquist Haro back trail
Im going to be honest, I was a fan of Fit since the Series 1 came out and then I had about 3 more Fit frames after the S1 but when I saw that they were putting out completes that little by little you could notice less sought after features, such as going from a full chrmo frame to a frame with just chrmo dropouts and less brand name parts for the same price as a full chrmo bike from other brands, my respect for Fit started to fade away with no brakes on, just like my bike is set up. I know inflation is real, but inflation wasn't a factor when they started price gouging to take advantage of people
Mission and kink got me into the bmx scene and made me want to race. I’m going to try to race my KINKBMX for the next 2 years. I had a 2018 kink whip and I beat the hell out of it and sold it in 2022 when I crashed my car and that bike is still out there being loved and ridden every day
Bro im 38, i decided to get back into BMX a bit when i bought my daughter her 20" bike. I went into walmart to get her one and walked out with hers and a Huffy HX Comp for myself. No issues im 220 lbs 6'2". its a race bike yes. But ive dirt jumped it with no broken parts. Paid $128 for the Huffy. I am buying an SE Racy PK Ripper. But the Huffy served me well.
What about Stranger? I feel that no one really talks about them too much? They have a young group of kids they sponsor that are doing some pretty “modern” tricks… anyone have experience with Stranger products/bikes?
Ya his gripe seems more leaning towards him thinking it’s more overpriced than overrated. I ride a Fit with a bunch of S&M parts on it myself I plan on getting an S&M frame next I have no issues with it.
Cult, were one the first ones to implement the needle bearing technology in freecoaster drivers, witch pretty much changed bmx, they're frames are also very solid. They have cool limited edition color ways and colabs and they use them to market bmx
I got a 2017 barcode made by S&M, cost me 550 USD paying directly to Joe Rich at the time but I'm happy I got it. I sold my original barcode from 2003 and needed it back !
I think to an extent it's just like any other industry with smoke and mirrors and money making being paramount to anything else. What is advertised is often not what it seems. People want to pay for what they have come to believe is the best brand and all those brands compete in a saturated market so it can be hard to make a decision. Even asking your friends who ride bikes as most will be biased to their own favourites for whatever reasons. in reality I think most of these brands are having stuff built to very similar quality standards. High prices do not always guarantee high quality. Just check your bike is full chromoly and the geometry suits you, then go for your best colour scheme with bits you like for the lowest price you can. You're going to swap out parts later on anyway I guess
Love cult mostly because of their team but have had some issues with their parts that’s for sure and ride a fit frame that’s awesome but yeah agree with some of the points for sure
There are a lot of bike brands that have had to adapt to a changing market. Some have suffered to exist, I loved my we the people omen and my standard 125r but hand US and UK frame building is expensive. Did S&M build the early FIT bikes or was it Standard? Great video, loved reading the comments with people reactions
I was told years back that Hyper sells cheap walmart bikes to help keep up there top shelf bmx products. Don't know if it's true but if it helps them in that way why not do it
BMX needs more brands like Cult. BMX is so blah, I'm following it because I'm nostalgic and because skating is hard on my knees. Skate culture and streetwear culture...man...BMX is just not at that level. I think Cult is on the right track and it's a track that's really good for them and BMX.
In my 40s just getting back into it for myself but also to ride with my kids. I just picked up a cult on marketplace place for 200. Hope it’s decent. The frame is 20.5 (might be a gateway frame).
me and my two friends are really into BMXing and my bike broke over and over again until one day i just threw it away because it got to the point where there was no fixing, and whenever me and my frineds wanted to ride i had to ride one of their sister hyper jet fuel bikes and the grips are the worst things ever, your knees hit the handle bars every pedal and they just over all are not good bikes
I have a Homeless Mack for years…. And Fly Micromachine. Bought a Fly Omega recently and was disappointed to find it was made in China. Guess the next one will be a Laird Frame, that way I know the quality of the build.
My cult crew cranks are the only part I've got from them but I love my cranks. I did break my s and m peddles on them though. I learned to buy sealed peddles since I broke the unsealed
Thinking of buying my son (13yr old beginner) the STLN Overlord 20.75” snow blind… About $750 here in Canada. I love the look, but can anyone comment on the quality?
Tbh a lot of bikes and parts are made in Taiwan or China by a few factories. A few companies r&d parts more then others. Some try to have high end and more budget oriented parts and bikes. Fit still has parts made by S&M in the usa. Only a few companies stayed making high end parts, especially still made in the usa. S&M and profile are the first brands that come to my mind when it comes to high end and US made.
In my few years of experience i found bsd, odyssey and shadow to be my favorite i also tend to look how the parts are made. Most of my bike is 4130 chromoly like the frame cranks forks bars anything i dont want to break pretty much. In my past i have broken every part multiple times. But the bike ive been able to build has been in one piece for a year now. Brands dont mean as much as the build quality in my opinion.
i remember bending a brand new Cult investment cast fork with just a 360 off of a 2 foot ramp to flat. Didnt even lasted a month with that forks and im just a beginner. Cult are good brand for hubs and smaller goods like berings and headsets but not there when it comes to larger parts like frames, forks and bars.
I have a kink complete and have had to change almost everything except the frame so far only had for 3 years my first bike was a haro and had it for 7 years with no new parts except grips peddles and tires
So I trying your recommendation 3 bikes but I have more request than you offer. I would like a 24in street with gyro and decent seat. Most all 24in bikes I see are just rear brake cruisers and short vert bars.
Hey Doug could you please review the new fly signature bikes because they look very good and have lots of aftermarket parts on them thanks Love your vids btw
I'm an old school.guy wanting to ride again. I'm so confused on what to get. We did crazy stuff on our bikes and never broke stuff . With i had my old kawahara .
I rode BMX back in the days and now my daughter wants a BMX bike, and when I checked the prices on some... over $1600 I just couldn't believe it, who buys this shit, it's the most basic stripped version of a bicycle, it's a frame, forks, handlebars and rims, how can this be anything over $500 at the top, regardless of what materials are used. I ride a trail now, and have a CANYON Neuron 6 that cost me $1800, overpriced as hell, but there is about 90% more bike there than there is in any BMX, and the BMX is $1600? Give me a break. Luckily I found a $380 Kink BMX that my daughter liked in the local shops here. A serious question who buys $500+ BMX bikes, I'm out of the loop of the BMX culture, but seriously the prices are insane on some of the bikes.
you only have a top 3 ? i'm sure it could have been higher and as for company putting their names on these half arsed completes is a joke like that hyperbikeco ryan williams complete is like $429 at a guess but the frame alone is $349 i know they are not the same product but some people will no doubt get confused little kids don't know what they are doing and parents don't either.
If I would avoid 1 it would be wtp/eclat, they don't care about bmx they have bad customer service and they don't treat their riders as well as other brands of their size.
Just want to say love my fit str 2023 purple one bought it off Facebook marketplace for 250$ but definitely want to build a custom bike and who cares what you riding along as you riding
I love Cult but I appreciated what you said about that. I wanted to buy an Panza pink frame but I couldn't find it so I bought a Sunday street sweeper and it felt fantastic. I don't think the panza's one could feel the same
Your biggest complaint about brands is the “hype” but you fail to realize RUclipsrs are a big part of “hype” within bmx. It’s not all about manufacturing and companies, a lot of these companies are contributing to the culture of bmx and not just trying to make a buck. Hyper has no intention to contribute to the culture, they are trying to latch their brand onto contest riders to get exposure then sell shit bikes to kids.
Also I looked at that Hyper Jet Fuel at Walmart and it almost fell apart just from my gaze... to my surprise and fear it was much lighter than most older cheap Walmart BMXs I seriously would not want anyone riding that giving them false confidence, at best it'll ride from point A to B don't count on getting back to A tho lol
Overhyped?? Lets talk Profile BMX. Lots of junk, doesnt stand by their product or quality. I would ride Fit blunts before Profile racing cranks any day... but this brand is held up by the profile fan boy club.
I would disagree because I have a cult bmx and it works really well. The only problem is that the cheaper ones like the cult control they are sooooooo heavy
my brands didnt get roasted hahah im pretty new rider i have 2020 wtp arcade matt black bike with salt pegs(because they were cheapest ones because theyre just pegs) but i doo have cult x vans seat and most bearing and other things are from eclat and bars are 4 piece merrit x ftl ones and ftl bike bag
Hey dougsterbob! I have a question. I am turning 14 years old in 9 days (that has nothing to do with my question but whatever). I have a classmate, my best friend. We both ride bmx and he needs a new bmx. He has had a Radio BMX since 2017, he was 8 when he got it. It has 3 piece cranks but single wall rims, and he has gotten like ALOT of pinch flats in the last 2 years or something. And the bike is not great because we are learning more and more tricks and the bike will soon explode...maybe. He is 13 years old (about 5 months younger than me). And he is about 152cm (5 feet). I would love too hear some bmx recommendations that are in the price range of about 300-400 dollars. His parents are probably going to pay for the bike. And also we live in Sweden so keep that in mind, maybe? Im sorry if i have talked too much but i like talking. Have a nice day. We ride park and street.
Hey Dierk, first question: which tire still fits best for you, 16" or do you need a 18" ? This is First to Figure out If you are Not Sure, than Go to some Bike Shops and do some Test Rides.
@@Lala-dr3vf me and my friend both rides 20''. I am 172cm tall and my friend 152cm. 99% of every bmx rider rides 20 so thats what we do. And i dont need a new bike my friend does.

I can't tell if that's the wind or a ghost in the background lol
ghost for sure

The back check? Also why go from a good back end length to way to short
@evanprinzhorn I prefer shorter back ends. It makes spins out of grinds, manuals and any kind of spin like 360s so much easier. It's just easier to ride that try to throw around a bike with a long back end
Frame so soft like butter 🧈
I ride the Cult Crew cranks on my S&M. Haven’t had any problems yet but I wouldn’t buy one of their frames. Anyone had an issue with this crank? It seems pretty solid to me.
Cult is bad only in some parts like frames and forks, but stems, grips, hubs etc are good
PLEASE do a video on eastern bike co. They’re prices have dropped insane amounts and the trail digger has a full chromoly frame, all sealed parts, and doubly wall rims for $450!!!!
Brand is done
I saw the thumbnail and knew Sunday wasnt going to be on the list.
i love sunday man

can anyone help me find an all black bmx that's a size 26"-27" with fat tires at around a price range from 300-600?

They have a young group of kids they sponsor that are doing some pretty “modern” tricks… anyone have experience with Stranger products/bikes?
hmm Fit might be overrated but it is clearly the Taiwanese branch of S&M, it's not made American made. Moeller even talks about why it is started.
Love cult mostly because of their team but have had some issues with their parts that’s for sure and ride a fit frame that’s awesome but yeah agree with some of the points for sure
the hyper team ride custom laird frames
I rode a Standard Trailboss 250 for many years, thing was a BEAST!!!! I miss bmxing so much!!!
Hand down my fave company...
I had one too, an olive Trail Boss in late 90s back when they had 3/8 dropout slot. Still though, one of the best frames I ever rode.
There are a lot of bike brands that have had to adapt to a changing market. Some have suffered to exist, I loved my we the people omen and my standard 125r but hand US and UK frame building is expensive. Did S&M
build the early FIT bikes or was it Standard? Great video, loved reading the comments with people reactions
I was told years back that Hyper sells cheap walmart bikes to help keep up there top shelf bmx products. Don't know if it's true but if it helps them in that way why not do it
Mr personally I like fiend , Sunday , odyssey, premium, s&m , cinema, and kink that’s the only brands I need but that’s me and that’s who I buy
Full Factory forever baby. \m/
BMX needs more brands like Cult. BMX is so blah, I'm following it because I'm nostalgic and because skating is hard on my knees. Skate culture and streetwear culture...man...BMX is just not at that level. I think Cult is on the right track and it's a track that's really good for them and BMX.
corporate backing is what you're talking about with "Skate culture and streetwear". I'm embarrassed and won't call myself a skateboarder.
Not disagreeing with you I think you are right but I have not broken any of my cult parts except some bent bars. 2 years in and I ride every day.
I took a leap of faith years ago- and bought 2 Framed bikes online for my kids- and they still seem really cool and smooth.
I have a fit and I love it. Definitely the best bmx to start out on
I have 26 inch cult devotion, and I haven't had any issues, but I dont ride too hard.
So what’s good ? 5’11 adult here looking for a 29” bike or something for flat land and wheelies
Check out the kink whip bro!
Or the kink whip Xl
I have a Homeless Mack for years…. And Fly Micromachine. Bought a Fly Omega recently and was disappointed to find it was made in China. Guess the next one will be a Laird Frame, that way I know the quality of the build.
Amazed you didn't mentioned Mafia. I'm still trying to workout if Harry Main is still sponsored by them?
My cult crew cranks are the only part I've got from them but I love my cranks. I did break my s and m peddles on them though. I learned to buy sealed peddles since I broke the unsealed
I find primo, merit, odyssey have always been solid
Seems like everyone who leaves Merritt ends up trashing their parts.
What do you think of STAYSTRONG brand?
They did Stephen Murray dirty so they suck.
In my day the 2000s fit would always snap, fly would snap, Hoffman and haro were a joke and still are, Sunday and S&M were bullet proof frames.
do the cranks hit your ankles when your pedaling?
Need learn to keep your ankles out the way that’s all
Ride with skateboard shoes. They have thick padded ankle portions
Interesting opinion, how about cult frame aftermarket? Is it overrated? How about the quality?
Same as most other brands' aftermarket frames as they're made in the same factory in Taiwan
Aren't Cult something to do with Primo? The hubs are almost identical, similar to Stranger
Thinking of buying my son (13yr old beginner) the STLN Overlord 20.75” snow blind…
About $750 here in Canada. I love the look, but can anyone comment on the quality?
I would look into the size! If he’s 13, he’s likely too small to comfortably progress on a 20.75” (the suggested height is 5’9 to 6’
It’s sad that I go to look up a BMX part and this hate shows up uninvited.
I had a bad experience with shadow :( but love BSD - but i agree with you build quality over everything
i remember bending a brand new Cult investment cast fork with just a 360 off of a 2 foot ramp to flat.
Hey Doug could you please review the new fly signature bikes because they look very good and have lots of aftermarket parts on them thanks
Love your vids btw
A serious question who buys $500+ BMX bikes, I'm out of the loop of the BMX culture, but seriously the prices are insane on some of the bikes.
what do you stream on?
Lightest non ti frame ?
you only have a top 3 ? i'm sure it could have been higher and as for company putting their names on these half arsed completes is a joke like that hyperbikeco ryan williams complete is like $429 at a guess but the frame alone is $349 i know they are not the same product but some people will no doubt get confused little kids don't know what they are doing and parents don't either.
You need to try the cult half link chain. %100 the strongest chain on the market, maybe ever. You will not break that chain. Guaranteed.
Can you do a review on the Fit Metal Eagle? Looks like a sick ass trail bike ngl
My favorite frames are FBM. I still have two and one of them is custom to my spec. It’s sad they are gone.
BSD FTW
I love Cult but I appreciated what you said about that. I wanted to buy an Panza pink frame but I couldn't find it so I bought a Sunday street sweeper and it felt fantastic. I don't think the panza's one could feel the same
Ride cult forks they're 100 aud cheaper than other brands and lasted 2 years no problem. Also the crew bars are also mint

Selling cheaper bikes doesn't make a brand over rated, hyper is probably one of the best park brands
Did you have to remove something, why the reupload ??
What’s up with the ghost/wind noises in the background?
To be fair r willy does have a hyper frame probably a much higher end frame than the ones they sale but he does use one

I had a fit trl and it was an okay bike for a complete
Also I looked at that Hyper Jet Fuel at Walmart and it almost fell apart just from my gaze... to my surprise and fear it was much lighter than most older cheap Walmart BMXs I seriously would not want anyone riding that giving them false confidence, at best it'll ride from point A to B don't count on getting back to A tho lol

I had a cult devotion. Cranks were always loose and squeaky. Dumped it and got a kink whip xl. Whip was all around a much better bike.
Hi can you make a video about the stay strong optimum str please it looks like a pretty good bike for a fair price amount
Redline is always a good choice.
Overhyped?? Lets talk Profile BMX. Lots of junk, doesnt stand by their product or quality. I would ride Fit blunts before Profile racing cranks any day... but this brand is held up by the profile fan boy club.
Ragebait for clicks.
I think SE can top the lot for over rated brands
I would disagree because I have a cult bmx and it works really well. The only problem is that the cheaper ones like the cult control they are sooooooo heavy

Is the radio valac a good bike for 350.00 on sale
