I watched this at the time (yes, I'm old). Weller blew them all away as soon as he opened his mouth. Still like Tuesday Sunshine by The Questions, but.
My favourite song being played by my favourite band they style council... I have watched this about 15 times already today since discovering it .. Paul weller Vocals are fantastic whilst the two lads arnt the best , it all works perfectly and Tracie Young is rocking it! Can't take the smileOf my face watching this
Man, I love this vid, as much as I admire Weller, Talbot, Lee and White during the days of "My Ever Changing Moods" to "Luck" to "Heavens Above" to "It's a Very Deep Sea." Say what you will, but I *adore* this band in all its permutations, and am quite sad indeed to see its passing.
I remember this, it is taken from the 1983 Tracy Ullman UK comedy seres Three Of A Kind. They had some great Uk soul funk groups as guests including I-Level and others. This was a one off appearence with Tracy Young, The Quetions and Mick and Paul under the Style Council name. I think originally Weller contrived that they should be like the 60s Motown's touring group, a band of musicians with different vocalists. It's great!
That's no The Style Council That Is The Questions, Edinburgh based band signed to Respond Records AKA The Mod Father Label ........ superb performance featuring Paul Weller xx
I always preferred TSC when they were performing Live. This track is a brilliant. Thanks for reminding us how Weller can compliment some of the tracks he covers so well. Excellent.
which he quickly ditched and streamlined down to four ....best move he ever made the rest as they would say is history................... brilliant band
It would be cool to have some of those tracks by the Questions posted up here. Tear Soup, Groove line, Price You Pay, Tuesday Sunshine, etc. They were a pretty hip group.
I actually remember watching this when it was on. It was a comedy programme called 'Three of a Kind' and it was a Saturday evening some time in the mid eighties. I remember being captivated by Tracie's beautiful eyes.
nicedog1 You have brought back very similar memories for me!! I was so in love with this girl at the time & her popping up on Three of a Kind with Style Council made my week!! Happy days!!
bless her heart but shes no DEE C LEE even dee voice is better.................. weller quickly ditched this lot and slimlined the band to four white lee weller talbot
Does anyone have any other clips from the Questions or Tracie? I really dug their stuff. They really didn't get the airplay out here in Los Angeles, but thanks to the import stores back in the day I could buy all the 45s. LPs and 12" singles from Paul Weller's Respond label. The Questions "Belief" album is FANTASTIC! Maybe I'll have to dig out those records and post them all here.
Check Paul Barry's ( The Questions lead singer)songwriting credentials since those days....It's phenomenal and his songs have sold in the tens of millions. Just Google his name. I first signed the Questions to my label Zoom Records while they were still at school. ( 1978). Lovely guys and very talented.
bless her heart but shes no DEE C LEE dont get me wrong she has a nice voice but dee really work on the confessions cd back in 1988 was brilliant what a voice .......................
If my every changing memory serves me correctly this was taken from the Lenny Henry show he did with Tracy Ullman Three of a Kind and did Weller call this particular gathering the Council Collective?
@bootjangler Tracy Young is now a DJ on a radio station in Essex, she is just about to release an album. The male singer is from The Questions, signed to Wellers "Respond" label. Met the guys, they were really great. Just think having Paul Weller behind them didn't do them any favours - a real shame as they had great talent.
prefer DEE C LEE voice over tracies but thats just my opinion.................. love dees voice on the confessions style council cd back in 1988 brilliant
That first guy is either trying too hard and/or is not breathing correctly,or else not using enough diaphragm support.I guess he imporved by the time they did "Everchanging Moods".
Rodney Trotter and his ensemble.. Actually pretty cool. Tracie was fab but Weller actually screwed up her career , she could've been the female voice in TSC but he wanted to be all ' PC' and chose DC Lee and married her after acting gay with Mick Should have wrapped up the TSC after Milton Keynes so that it ' Stood for something ' but Polydor did that for him soon enough He shit on Bruce and Rick. Him and his Dad were obsessed with money . Disbanded the greatest band ever , that could've moved with the times, to suit his ego and bank balance . Fantastic songwriter Not the nicest bloke

I also remember watching this at the time. Stayed with me until now. Found it again, bliss.

I love the innocence of this, just digging the song, knowing your cool, micky Talbot on keyboards! What more can you ask!?
That's no The Style Council That Is The Questions, Edinburgh based band signed to Respond Records AKA The Mod Father Label ........ superb performance featuring Paul Weller xx
I loved the Questions.....wish I had the CD of their album
Paul's vocals are great in this. The rest, err
I always preferred TSC when they were performing Live.
This track is a brilliant. Thanks for reminding us how Weller can compliment some of the tracks he covers so well.
Excellent.
strange...but I like it especially when Weller appeared
nice to see another artist appreciate the Isley Brothers!
Good Lord! I had completely forgotten that this existed. I loved The Questions :)
Paul Weller & his Young Disciples;-)
which he quickly ditched and streamlined down to four ....best move he ever made the rest as they would say is history................... brilliant band

Remember it too.. was on 1982/3 just before I started secondary school x
Michelle Alexandra Cotton Yep. Time flies.
bless her heart but shes no DEE C LEE even dee voice is better.................. weller quickly ditched this lot and slimlined the band to four white lee weller talbot
The original version of "Harvest for the World" was done by the Isley Brothers. Get this song it is incredibly soulful.
Does anyone have any other clips from the Questions or Tracie? I really dug their stuff. Que brutal, cantando todos su parte y en conjunto...
The other guys are from the Questions. Top band also
@rolskidrakeski Not trying to bust yer chops, but I believe the Isley Brothers were the original band to do this song.
If my every changing memory serves me correctly this was taken from the Lenny Henry show he did with Tracy Ullman Three of a Kind and did Weller call this particular gathering the Council Collective?
Thank you Sabine :)
The Questions
an Isley brothers tune! Style Council...simply amazing!
Weller's voice was so good here. It's a shame the smoking changed it in the 90s. I might enjoy his solo stuff more if it wasn't for that.
wonderful song sings for the most wonderful band : TSC!!!!!!
Awesome tune.
I love this, this is what performance & music equal:- congruence, from the heart.

thanks for answering "the questions"...
I saw the Style Council a couple of times in the 80s. I don't remember all those other characters though?
The Questions
im a jam fanatic. this is Fuckin good.
Hi.... Her name ist Tracie Young !!! You can find her on Wikipedia.... Greetings from germany :) ..... Sabine.
prefer DEE C LEE voice over tracies but thats just my opinion.................. love dees voice on the confessions style council cd back in 1988 brilliant
Hi... it´s not "Tracy"... Her name is "Tracie Young"... With "y" is another person on Wikipedia ;)
as usual..awesome haircut from mr.weller
One of many;-)
Brilliant
Was this after Jam ? Weller stood out --
Indeed, it was after The Jam.. this is 1983.
Weller on bongoes!?! Other than Talbot, White and what appears to be the luscious Tracie, who are these other people? Random Merton Parkas?
Weller's miming.
great!!!!
:))))) i never knew that style council was the original and the group was so big!!!!
beautifullllllllll
It's just the old videotape. It's actually a really solid performance.
トレーシー・ヤング、かわいいな!!
where's the Isley's version
que pretensão!
tracie young was so pretty.
He doesn't call himself that, he just doesn't say anything about it.
That first guy is either trying too hard and/or is not breathing correctly,or else not using enough diaphragm support.I guess he imporved by the time they did "Everchanging Moods".
she's seems too interested in her moves to put out a good vocal performance
The girl is hot. Who is she? Anyone.
Tracey young
Dire
The "first guy" is actually the girl from The Questions lol
great version of a great song. the questions were a great band and also very nice people. shame weller got too up himself lol
mod would have been forgotten only for weller bring on the revival in 79 long live the modfather
danny evans never heard of the small faces then? Weller has, like so many he's tried to copy Steve Marriot the real modfather.
Peter Williams yes i have but mod was lost in the 60s,weller give it a new life, as if you didn't know that ha
by the way pete meaden was the real modfather
Peter Williams...i checked out steve marriot, Paul Weller definitely sounds & looks much better...
Until Marriott left The Small Faces to form Humble Pie
love TSC, but this is pretty thin compared to the original.
Certainly before Dee C. Lee.
correct and DEES voice was better no disrespect to tracies ............... but what a beautifull voice dee c lee had and stunning looking
The song is not very put together well. I think they need to rehearse it some more.
かっこいい
Rodney Trotter and his ensemble..
Actually pretty cool.
Tracie was fab but Weller actually screwed up her career , she could've been the female voice in TSC but he wanted to be all ' PC' and chose DC Lee and married her after acting gay with Mick
Should have wrapped up the TSC after Milton Keynes so that it ' Stood for something ' but Polydor did that for him soon enough
He shit on Bruce and Rick.
Him and his Dad were obsessed with money .
Disbanded the greatest band ever , that could've moved with the times, to suit his ego and bank balance .
Fantastic songwriter
Not the nicest bloke
You (deliberately) seem confused. Just saying the obvious.....
That should be improved.Sorry.
what the hell is this? Kid's Incorporated? sesame street? I am fascinated! Paul looks anorexic
On the whole, this is a pretty poor cover - until Weller comes in and the song rocks!!
WTF?
You said! Who is the first person that sings? All except Weller are horrible!
Awful
