- It's a sad day around the DD Speed Shop. Another hot rod is going to a new owner. I have to keep reminding myself it's for the greater good. With the car loaded in the trailer we move onto the motor from the nomad. The Nomad motor was GREASY!

Kids nowadays are absolutely no help
He stands there watching 3 of them struggling to push a car in the trailer while his hands were nice and warm in his pockets
Great help Jr
I was about to say... then I remembered that my mom would always say, 'Hold out your hands. And then put something in my hands like a vacuum or plates, boxes,'. Lesson is, as a parent you don't have to let your kids just stand around. 🙂
Probably going to want the keys to it one day.
Red headed skippy was a lot of help pushing the camaro in.
Yup, ole Skippy stood there with his hands in his pockets.
Damn Redheaded stepchild!!😂😂
While I'm in agreement on this point and it seemed kind of strange for the kid to show up and not help. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, his dad may have not wanted him on camera. Otherwise it makes no sense, my kid would jump at the chance to help push that car in, even if he was just walking by. Just to touch cars like this now is a rare treat. The buyer/dad looks like a youtuber I've seen, but I can't be sure.
Gen Z the same in Canada as in the US
Just waiting for someone else to invent an app to push it in using his phone
The strange stamping on the back of the block actually is a clock, so they know exactly when it was built, shift and hour. And you can also tell the difference between a high and low horsepower 327, by the size of the harmonic balancer. High horsepower engines used the 8" x1.5" (maybe more) whereas the lower horsepower engines used the 7" very thin balancer. I hope this helps. Thanks
My first engine rebuild was out of a 63 Corvette. 327 I had bought that was worn. It had a steel crank with 64cc closed chambered heads that I ported and polished with a 268 competition cam with a eldebrock dual plane high rise. The first car I put it into was a 1964 Malibu with a 65 front end clip. 4-speed Muncie m21 close ratio fine spline. My favorite car until I bought my 1970 1/2 Camaro.
You need some shopping carts 🛒 I cut them up and put motors and transmissions on them work great and can be free in some areas. They hold the weight no problem and roll good
Sad seeing the cars going but at least not in scrap yards or crushed and congrats to the new owner
All the help that red headed boy gave and I bet the dad is planning to build the car together to be his.
I love the build, I enjoyed watching it being built.
It has the triangle heads too.. it's good
Power packers they be :)
That’s the original 55 bell housing and it’s painted tge correct color for 55
If it’s an early 67 or earlier it’s a small journal steel crank engine and those are good for 8-9000 rpm
Yes sir a friend of mine built one a thirty over job with a 283 crank and 12.5 pistons, a set of tricked up 1.94 heads and the wildest cam he could get for it. It was wicked riding in that car (67 chevy II) with that engine winding up to 8500 rpm. He blew the flywheel out of it racing it one night at around the same rpm and those who were there said it was like a bomb went off under that car. Fortunately I was not there riding in the car that time.
You can take the tube off the back and can out the valley and run a pcv valve through the valve cover(will need to cut a hole in valve cover) pcv hook up to carb. Will keep motor clean
Hey Dan. I’ve built lots of those transmissions fooling with them in my 51 5 window truck. SM 319 overdrive transmission. If you service it, be sure not to use gl-5 hear oil in it. Use a gl-4 75-90 or 90 weight mineral oil. Gl-5 will destroy the bronze synchronizer drum in it. The 0.67 overdrive is nice in the highway. Love the channel and keep up the good work.
The old Camaro is now gone for good. Awesome job on getting the old oily stuff off the 327. Time to rebuild it. Keep the great work.
The Camaro definitely looked good in that trailer... Haha!! Congrats on the sale!! Looking forward to seeing the Newmad all done up and ready for some worry free cruising
Dan they make rubbet test plugs for pvc pipe push them in tighten wing nut i use them when i pressure was my engines they cost 3.50 to 4.00 dollars each they work in heads perfect
Focus on the talent
Haha
Dani, is paying attention. She knew what a throwout bearing is. Good student.
She knows to much now
She remembers all of Dan’s mistakes, just like every other woman😉
Dan's on a mission
U got that right
The Nomad engine will look great with the traditional Chevy Orange paint job on it. The "870" 327 block was used from 1962 to 1965 and was used in cars and trucks with horsepower ranging from 250 to 375 horsepower. The early 327's had steel crankshafts capable of handling way more than the 375 HP it made in the Corvette. If it has stampings on the passenger side, front of the block, it can tell you exactly what vehicle it came out of. Love your videos. Keep up the good work"
My old one had casting # 3858180. It was 275 hp with a steel crank and 461 camel hump heads which I believe were only 1.94s. I never got to hear it run cuz I'm not like Dan who gets sh¡t done.
@@grabasandwichI had a 327 with a steel crank yet it had the 64cc closed chambered heads with 9.11 compression. That was a great motor when I rebuilt it. I beat a guy street racing with a 454 bb in a 1972 camaro SS with that 327 I put into my 1970 1/2 camaro. We both had automatics yet he had a posi. I barley beat him and after the race he made me pop my hood because he couldn't believe that I had "only a 327 just rebuilt". I had ported and polished the heads with a 268 competition cam and a eldebrock dual plane high rise with a Holley 650 cfm carb. I had put a b&m shift kit in the transmission yet the problem I had is I had to get out of the pedal when it shifted from first to second gear or I would start going sideways when it hit. I even had traction bars. I could never go full throttle and continue going forward in a straight line. Good memories though. LoL 👍🏁
Good morning. As soon as Dan read the block I.D., I googled it. It said a lot about Corvettes and it being a 375 hp 327. Also said if there was an "R" suffix, it would have been used in Impalas and trucks. I am NOT a Chevy guy (Though I DO love some models), so I'm a bit confused on what I read. Was any of what I read, correct? I'd love to see the Nomad get an engine with a little giddyup!
Actually the 265 engine for the 1955 Chevrolet was red. Which is the color I would paint this engine.
@@billywird - I know the 265 was red. This isn't a 265, it's a 327. I don't think Dan really cares about painting the engine red to be restoration correct but I could be wrong.
Nice looking Camaro, hopefully the new owner will treat it well
I don’t know how you do it. Your channel remains at the top of my list. Good job Dan and Dani. Been watching several years now and I love it. Some people would watch a RUclipsr film paint dry. Not me. But you make every video worth watching!
Thanks buddy! Appreciate it
Dad: "thanks for all the help,Jr. Couldn't have done the load without you"
F'kn lazy kids now a days.
327 with powerpack heads is a 250 horse engine with plenty of torque for a cruiser 👍🇺🇸👍
DDSS Auto sales, up and running.
Stack em deep & sell em cheap
LoL
Dan slaps his hand on the roof "They just don't make them like this anymore" . Remember when they did that cheesy infomercial for Vice Grip Garage clear patina paint? LMAO 🤣 They should do another comedy commercial for DDs Speed Shop cars sales. That would be friggin hilarious. Who's with me?
@@327JohnnySShaha we really should.
@@DDSpeedShopruclips.net/video/B359hCC3HQU/видео.htmlsi=3TrK4_gOaeNNpcpr
That multicolored engine looks like it came out of a circus bus
Dan the man, idea, them industrial shelving units would be real handy for you fenced parts area, it would give you so much more space for more goodies...
He's just like my dad. Loves disorganization & chaos. Apparently. No bench, no trash cans, no shelves, just lots of random stuff hanging on nails on the walls. Drives me absolutely nutz!
@@gailtaylor1636yet I still get stuff done
@@DDSpeedShop Could be lot easier.
I like the way you just keep on keepin' on. Next.
Should have kept the cragers off the front of the camero. You could have put them on the blue nomad. As long you got the drive train out might as well put a tremic 5 speed in it.
Just like the Newmad's bell housing.... hanging around for the content.....😏
Great job, looting forward to seeing the craigslist rebuild on the motor!
Here we go again 👍👍
Re-seal that oil pan and new rear main seal before you put it back in. Cheap insurance.
He won't, he loves pulling engines willy nilly, it adds content so he doesn't have to do body werk vigeos!

Not to get crazy here but the best way to paint that engine would be to strip it down and at least replace the gaskets as you do not know how bad they may be and of course if the engine is basically in good shape as far as any blowby or wear a basic reseal and paint (I would paint that engine red as that was the color for 1955). Unless you really want to keep the three on the column and the granny box with overdrive (I would see about getting the overdrive working) a swap to a four speed or a Saginaw three speed with a good floor shifter would work very easily. When we were younger the thing was to either swap in a Saginaw three speed or a Muncie four speed as all one had to do was to install the fine spline clutch disc and everything else was just bolt in (of course we had to cut a hole in the floorboard for the shifter and I believe the output yoke for the driveshaft was fine spline as well (been a long time but I think that is what was needed). They are quite pricey but a Hurst shifter for the bench seat 55 Chevrolet worked just fine. I had a 56 Chevrolet that had the original granny box three speed and due to a bad universal and trying to drive 200 miles home one weekend the transmission was damaged to the point to where it would not stay in gear. Well I acquired a Saginaw three speed but needed the shift arms and linkage (I already had a Hurst shifter). Of course the stuff I needed was not in stock at the speed shop so I bought a new shifter setup for the car. The speed shop was none other than Don Garlits speed shop in Tampa Fla and it was Don Garlits himself that sold me the shifter. That was in 1971. How about them apples. Of course that shifter then was around 39.95 but i had to eat peanut butter and sandwiches for a while as well.🥸👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great show keep up the amazing work be safe my friends God bless all
Helpful hint for next time....park everything nice and straight and square...trailer close to car...push with that there truck,gentle,gentle....
You could paint it baby blue to match the car.
So I guess car washes in the sometimes frozen north are indoors? I though it looked like an abbatoir at first. 😆😆😆
Thanks for the video you 2.
It’s a good feeling we you know the Camaro is going to a good home. Can’t wait to see motor all painted up going to look nice. 👍😎✌️
Hope you guys find a big property with a turn key ready garage
So much for your summer cruiser!!! Get to work on the 68.... you can maybe have a "fall" cruiser.
Good evening from Cape Cod ⚓ happy to see the camaro's going to get some appreciation. Looking forward to seeing the 68 arrive. That 327 should look sweet in Chevy Orange 🍊. Keep up the great work and the awesome content guys. Remember to keep the camera on the talent Dani 😂✌️🇺🇲
I lived in sandwich off of 6A for a summer. I would go through the backyard across the tracks to the canal. I used to go to a bar called the whale house.
Peavy Mart has GUNK Engine Degreaser on sale.
Also usually have cutoff disc's for a decent price.
Good progress Dan!❤️😎
Thanks for sharing this video with us
Indoor car wash??
Hopefully the new owner will give it some love.
Hopefully the camaro is going to a good home
Good show guys 🌼
Yep..as always great seeing n hearing you having fun with your cars..thanks
The Nomad motor really deserves a Trimclad rebuild! 👌
Keep it up!
Happy to see you treating the Nomad with respect
Might have helped if you took the inspection cover off first..... :P
As much love as you show that nomad I would think you would rebuild it and up grade the heads. Reseal it oh and on Maybe a 350 or a 383. Thats a nice car. Or I can see it now LS 6.2 swap/ AC/PB/PS MAKE IT A $100,000 car. Na who was I kidding. keep it up. PS I went to Rockingham last year to meet you's guy's I did not know you were in the parking lot. On my way home someone turned in front of me and head on in to me. Lost my truck and spent some time recoving, but I never missed a video. So happy she got her bumper.
It would be a shame not to atleast replace that rear main!
Nice to see cars moving also good to see the people that bought them haul em off. Keep up the great work shout out to you from Mexico 🇲🇽
I was waiting for you to find Fuelie heads
Indoor car wash ?? ..crazy
It has a road breather tube coming from the back has to be early 1960 s and has side mounts.that is 58 or newer
Nice job guys
Nice car you built, I am certain the new guy will love it. There is good money in body rebuilds with the right make and model. Those 67’s will always be hot and have value. I think you could do better on the 68, the 67 was perfect practice, the 68 build will go fast, you already know exactly what to do. Hope things go good and you get what you want for it when it is done. You two are amazing in what you accomplish.
Dan are you interested in a 1972 El Camino. She said it runs and drives but her husband past and it was his.
Great seeing you two selling cars and fixing you're keepers..keep the fun and jokes coming we love it,...looking for the future Dan to pull the 47 out ..haven't seen it in a minute ..keep on keeping on !!!
Thanks for your perseverance got 95 caddy and was getting discouraged wwhen it is so hard to fix need to drive it so can rebuild the truck notors
Use purple power it degreases better than anything else. And leave the engine the color it is. The speckled pup looks great.
Great content🔥
Paint it and in the future I would fix the body and paint the car but it looks good enough now more than good enough now nice easy winter project in your brand new more ski garage
Yes we can hear Danielle real clear on vedio DAN !!
Hi Dan, congratulations on selling the Camaro. I hope he appreciates all the work that you put into that restoration. Enjoying watching you working on that good lookin 55 Nomad. You didn't mention it, but I hope you're budgeting a reseal. You'll regret not taking care of the leaks now. That is such a nice car and you are taking it up a notch. Dan is no hack.
I'm gonna go check out Dani's new stuff. ... 🤨
I recall reading that the blue colored engines were used in some trucks (light dump, school buses, etc.).
Dan you are a remarkable man I believe in you and your dedication to the automotive community, I hope once your satisfied you will have a bigger shop because we all know with in all that’s in storage you can have your own shop and hopefully save a little…
Dan, "I'm not to bright about buying cars".
Yeah man, I know how you feel. Been there too many times. Oh well it's only money, right?
Hey Dan, Happy to see your cleaning out your stuff! Love to watch! Your garage is going to be dirty, when working in it! Be Happy always you & Dani! GODS BLESSINGS!✝️✝️🙏🙏💕💕
Things is on a mission. Focused now... cool cars, few sales, shops lookin good. Life is dialed in.
Good work
With it being an old 327 with 4 barrel three SPEED you have to have headers on with the duel exhaust headers man Dan (HEADERS, HEADERS HIGH PERFORMANCE.
awesome!
Take the supercharger off of the Nomad and put it on the Nova's new motor!!!!!
I hope you are replacing oil pan gasket and timing cover gasket since it leaks more than the titanic
An enjoyable video. Is the ‘68 Camaro getting restored or sold? Downsizing is a smart move. Land appreciates more than most cars.
On good note my 55 nomads is a runner driver now
That is the best kind
Hate to see it go,wish I could have gotten the money to buy that car. Hopefully the guy builds it on RUclips and we can all see it ripping.
You need a power washer Dan , you can clean cars and the shop floor so easily
Sweet!
Nice car wash action shots, Danni needed a mask and snorkel to get those close ups.
Honest Dan's Used Cars! If you can find a better deal, buy it!
Slaps the roof,"They just don't build them like this anymore" . It would be friggin hilarious if they did a DD Speed Shop used car and parts infomercial like they did for the Vice Grip Garage patina paint clear coat? Dan with mustache wax and a gold tooth.😂😂
You bent the s*** out of everything because you forgot to take off the inspection cover. The course spline is on the input shaft.Dan🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.I bought My 65 Chevy ll in 1980 $300. it had a 3 on the tree crashbox first I got a 3 on the floor. With a 1970 307 eng from a Malibu .after about 5yrs it got a 350 with a turbo 350 and I put a sht.kit.in it. But before the shift kit I beat a 1970 340 Cuda. I changed the engine again to a 327 With a 4 speed new Hurst competition shifter for only $275 back in about 1990 Only drove about 150 miles since full rebuild isky 304 cam 202 and 160 Camelback heads ported 4:56 gires. Tarantula Street dominator manifold 750 double pumper. Raced it a couple of times at the drag strip and then they closed down. It's been sitting since 1995. I started putting in a new floor pan.I have it in place and tacked in but not finished welding no place to race anymore. It has Pistons that weighs 510 grams each. Balance assembly with a 11-inch clutch. It broke the tires loose hitting 4th gear on a 1/8 mile track. I want to finish it but I'm getting to old it needs some help.maby one day.
The old 327 in the 60s were blue too.
Dirty Job but it Pays off. Good Job Dan.🚘🍦🍦🥞Go for a Ice cream👍
Nicest car in the Fleet jmo
Looks like a demo derby motor
It was nice to watch the 67 Camaro being picked up by someone who knows something about cars. 🇨🇦
Why not run a gasket kit through that 327 while it’s out fairly cheap insurance to keep it all clean. 🤷♂️
Hopefully...because all that grease was the only thing keeping all the oil from leaking out.
@@morecowbell69 Good point
Oily as it was, you have the thing out, might as well reseal and re gasket the whole thing and have peace of mind... Plus value if you decide to sell it, plus good content.
The Camaro looks good with no bumpers. Hope you made some labor on the Camaro.
Yeah that's right the camera is not heavy but requires a bit more attention ❤
It looks like Buick green from the 50’s and early 1960’s
Cheers
Dan after getting rid of all the old projects, why not complete that 32 Coupe for the summer?
Remember that 32 ford in American Graffiti? Other cool movie is called the California kid with a 32 I believe.
Carrot Top watching you guys push the car in with his hands in his pocket
How do you know that he wasn't helping? It may have not shown it on the camera yet after the camaro is in the trailer you can see him walking forward on the sidewalk. Maybe you should delete your comment so you don't come off as a hateful jerk? Shame on you. Not cool!
