I love this era of Nascar cars, and the Bobby Alison Miller High life car is definitely one of my favorites. It's a toss-up between Bobbys Alison's Miller High life Buick Regal and Cole Trickle's City Chevrolet Chevy Lumina from Days of Thunder. Pretty much all they cars back them were badass looking, though, lol.
Well said.... I used to go to New Smyrna speedway when I was little and then Daytona when I was a teenager... Nascar nowadays is NOTHING like it was back then.
I've been a nascar fan since the 50's. What yall do warms my heart. I was a mechanic my whole life, and now I'm 70 and in bad health. Born & raised in Randolph county NC but now in Ky since wife was killed in 02. I hope and pray yall keep these killer videos coming, and God Bless you and your lady friend in your quests. ❤

Banjo was my neighbor in the 70s. I grew up with his son. Back in the 80s i used to go to his shop on mondays and see all the wrecked cars from the sunday race. The teams would send them from the track on an open trailer.
That might have been the most reasonable negotiation and sale I've ever witnessed. 5k to $100 because the guy knows it's going to the right place. Just outstanding.
A real Bud Moore car, such a rare beast, And a Banjo Mathews car too, I am green with envy, could you imagine if it was a Dale car instead of a Bret Bodine
My dad worked at a Buick dealership back when Bobby Alison drove that gold Buick. The dealership (Ackerman Buick) had a display day where Alison's car, and a Buick powered Indy car came for the day. My dad has pictures somewhere.
As much as I admire Davey it would be a crime to take a real Bud Moore Engineering car and make it a tribute to something else. Bud is a legend among legends!

My family and I visited the Charlotte Speedway and some area race shops for the first time between the 87-88 season. While driving around the track we could hear a race car on track. We drove around and the tunnel entrance was open so we drove in and pulled over to the pit area. It was this Gold #12 Miller High Life car but we had no idea that it was a Bobby Allison car because previously he had been #22. We attempted to take some pictures before someone came over and asked us not to. Turns out that this was the photo shoot for the new scheme. We did manage to get a couple of photos from a distance. Once the car pulled in, they proceeded to peel the 12 decals off and apply the 8 decals and sent it back out for more photos. I learned later that this was one of the first Sam Bass designed paint schemes. Once I learned who he was, I became a huge Sam Bass fan and found out a few years later, while meeting with him and sharing this story, that he also remembered that day and he was the one that had come over and asked us not to take pictures. It blew my mind when he said,- "I remember you all, the blue station wagon, right?" I've still got the pictures as well as some from the Days of Thunder junkyard that sat behind the Hendrick shop for a while. The #11 Bud car in the junkyard was a Chevy Monte Carlo which was humorous since it had Ford Blue Oval stickers on it. Ive actually been in that car back in the 90's,I used to buy alot of parts & cars from Mason's,he was a cool ol man to deal with,he was the biggest mustang fox body parts guy in the south east at one time....glad to see it going to a good home
I drove an early 2000s cup car at a NASCAR driving experience. My company paid for us to go. So, real cup car governed to not exceed a certain RPM on a real NASCAR track. It was the most counterintuitive driving I have ever experienced. I did manage to achieve 154mph once I got comfortable getting close to the wall. I swear it felt like I was doing 60mph.
@@mindeloman yeah I was gonna pay the 3500 bucks, if I could've afforded it. To go around talladega 60 laps and have the limiter turned up! Still mad I couldn't do it.
You are the sole reason I got back into nascar! I grew up watching but stopped fifteen years or so ago but you document most of the cars/drivers I remember and it brings back such great memories. Thanks for all you do for the sport and you’re a great ambassador for nascar!

I love when you're talking up the guys, especially the last guy explaining the future use of the Miller Buick... it was as if he was talking directly to me as I stood there in front of him. Those people in your video are the epitome of real Americans; folks that'd give you the shirt off their backs & crack you open a cold tall boy on a hot summer day.
I don't think most people, even those that were NASCAR fans back in the late 80's to early 90's would be astute enough to pick up on the difference between the 88-89 Buick and the 90 to 91 Buick. Your eye for these kind of details is what makes you a great historian, keep up the good work!
It sure is wild seeing a place like Masons on RUclips. After growing up going to the yearly car shows since my pops worked there. I hope to see more videos around the upstate
That Tbird is such a cool car to find. My first car was an 83 Turbo Coupe. When you guys were pulling the old hood out, looks like there was an original TRX metric wheel in the shed too.
This was a cool episode, getting to see 2 ex racecars from the movie. This was a nice video even though you got bit by the mosquitos. It was a sacrifice well done for the video evidence of the car returned to the light from the barn. On a side note I am glad that you showed the Stavola Brothers shirt, so I bought one, hope it is as comfortable as my last shirt you and Logan sent me. Hope you and Logan have a great summer and look forward to more videos from you both.

so cool.when the Tbird came out in the early 80's it looked almost spaceage with the smooth rounded lines.back when you tell a chevy was racing a ford,buick,whatever.

That red Porsche. There is a large gathering of those in Banner Elk, Nc every year on the first Sat in June. If that guy would put that on a rollback and take it one year I bet he'd sell it for good money. There are a ton of them at that event each year.
