What was your favorite car? It pains me to walk around the pits and not have my own car to race 😂 This video took a while for me to edit since I had been working on getting my GNSS car ready all week. It only turns left though…Someday I’d like to run with these guys! Stapletonautoworks.com
Seeing 2000s cars from our childhood in a classic series race is a sobering reminder of how fast this trip really goes. It's also a reminder that we had an awesome experience the kids today are sorely missing. Thank goodness events like this exist to bring cars off the pages of history back in full living color.
The world is so eefed up and everything is lame compared to years ago!!!! I agree people are longing for cool things like this to take them back to a better time if not for a little while!
No kidding. Now I feel outdated and as a kid growing up on Nascar from the 80s and 90s era, these 2000s era cars seemed like a "far off into the future" kind of thing. But now it's considered a classic!?! 😂 For crying out loud I still have a copy of Stock Car Racing Monthly unveiling the "new" SB 2 engine. Geez I'm old but them sure were good times!
A NASCAR Classic division? This is cool, I would 100% check this out. I do wonder if this means that we might see new cars made with Gen 4 or older specs, that would be sweet
The Gen 4 cars are just awesome! We need to get this series on some short tracks too. It would be nice to see the interest level continue to grow so that eventually we have chassis builders making brand new "old" (Gen 4) race cars again to satisfy the demand. I have zero interest in the current NASCAR stuff, but I would watch these anytime!
Thanks George! The short track version of this does exist. It’s called Grand National Super Series and that’s the one I have a car to race in! It’s just a different group of people.
Thankyou Mitchell for continuing on reporting and ensuring historical stories behind NASCAR. You are living so many of our dream. Especially this video which is highlighting and featuring all the vintage cars. nothing like the 80s and early 90s era which I know you love as well.
Dale Earnhardt got very close to me in a golf cart at Talladega at the 1992 Die Hard 500. I worked at Sears so I could get hospitality passes which included pre race pit passes. I was standing at the garage gate because we couldn't enter that area. I was wearing a Bill Elliott tee shirt when a golf cart came from behind and was very close. I could see the Goodwrench arm sleeve on his uniform. I am sure he was laughing. I think the #15 Motorcraft 87/88 T Bird is my favorite. I like all of the pre 2000 stuff.
I remember going and watching testing at Michigan & Indianapolis as a kid in 2004-2007 and the sounds I hear in this vid take me back. Also for the 28 car, YES, get it running
Fascinating information in this video content. As this series grows, hopefully the race events will be promoted so that fans can come out to watch the fun on the track. Maybe some day a live stream or television coverage of one of these events. Thanks Stapleton42 for the great content.
I liked it better when they built them out of the shop. This Nascar they have now isn't racing, its entertainment . These are real race cars and what made the sport popular in the first place.
The cars aren’t the problem. The problem is made-for-TV-ratings crap like the Playoffs (which used to be Chase for the Cup), the charter system, and stages which I wouldn’t mind if they didn’t throw a yellow flag at the end of each stage.
I think what it is is that these old cars were engineered differently in house. They ain't spec'd out race cars like now. Back then some of those rules had unclarity where many of these engineering wizzards were able to craft their arts making these old machine become faster then what the rule book allowed. It definitely made those cars much more unique instead of uniformity. The aero wars back then was insane as well. So much wind tunnel testing all for the pursit of speed. I still recall when the '95 Monte Carlo was developed using the actual stock car template used on the production car to fit exactly the same on a race car to prove Ford wrong about them having an aero advantage. Chevy at the time just had better engineers at RCR, Gibbs, Hendricks, etc.
I went to my first vintage race this summer up at Road America and it was soooo freaking cool! There were a few cup cars from the early 90s to early 2010s, as well as a bunch of IMSA GTO Mustangs and a few other cars from the GT1 class, the screams of those engines flying down the track heading into turn 5 was incredible! Much more exciting than any modern race series. I'm so glad to see this gaining momentum!
One comment and a couple of questions for you. First, as a former latemodel driver, Nascar wrench and lifelong supporter of stock car racing : THANK YOU!!! you capture so much of the behind the scenes exploits of our friends and heroes that this is my go to channel whenever i get nostalgic and start to miss the characters that make the sport. Questions: 1) How did you get in to the sport ? 2) Did you ever ever expect your channel to grow to over 320k subs? (Before anyone reading this scoffs, at time of time of writing Dale Jr's channel is only 100k ahead of this one and he has a well oiled marketing machine behind him) 3) .What made you decide to dig in to the "behind the scenes" side of the sport i.e. what goes on inside the shop? 4) What was your most contentious interview / shop tour, maybe that one where you didnt think you were getting the whole story? Anyways, keep up the awesome work.
Dude this is amazing! Im on the verge on 40 and as a kid, race day was priority in our house! When gen 4 ended and they started the "car of tomorrow" we stopped watching unfortunately. But i have very fond memories of the race, whether it be pre recorded or live, always being on the tv and loving every second of it.....miss those days so much! The 1976 Daytona 500 loosing car , final lap coming off turn 4 petty and Pearson crash and spin to the grass , Pearson kept moving and just made the finish line , that petty charger was sold to Buddy Arrington as a 1978 dodge magnum , but later re-bodied back to a charger and made Buddy Arringtons show car , the #67 car seen in the background on a trailer at 2:49 and 3:09 . Maybe look up Joey Arrington . When dodge pulled out around 1979 all the dodge teams gave their stuff to Buddy Arrington, he had enough free dodge parts to run for 4 years , and he did , as a result Joey Arrington became quite the engine builder.

As always, great content Mitchell. Keep up the good work, that you and Logan do. Can't beat these historic "stock cars", and that's fair dinkum from a Kiwi follower and fan. Further into the vid' now, I had to edit my post and say that sound of those "beasts" is frigging awesome!! Had to edit again...forgot to mention that character of a canine, Shelby who is a special part of your channel too.
My 2 favorites were the #5 Levi Garrett and the #15 Motorcraft even though you didn't get that one running - that sound from the 5 gave me goosebumps! And HELL YES the #28 needs to get correct and on the track - I remember watching that car run on tv!😁
You will very soon! Short track racing these cars I do have my own that is almost ready to run GNSS. I would like to do the road racing with these guys next year if someone had an extra car.
Fun Fact: That Romco #6, driver is Ryan Gennell, he is making his ARCA debut at Watkins Glen upcoming, thats actually a NEMCO car. Cool video like usual Stapleton
History On Parade! What a treat! They are so immaculate, And all the accoutrements. The suits, enclosed trailers, pop up covers. So clean. You can see it's strictly for those with means. Open trailers and greasy fingernails need not apply. Kind of like the vintage road racers, with Doctors and Lawyers and Dentists. Great hobby to keep the heritage alive. Yay on the new camera. I can tell you have a viewfinder now. Big difference. Maybe a small gimbal to minimize bouncy walk. You'll see. And they're cheap or even better, home made. But big, necessary, leap with the camera. Good you.
That would be excellent, awesome car's, camera in the Petty car was great coverage, really enjoyed watching, and the history, looking forward to more ,thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Disappointed that the cars aren't required to run in-period liveries, and to see newer cars mixed in with the real classics. But it's NASCAR, who see dollar signs over giving people a chance to see what these cars were like back in the day
They are required to run period liveries. Which one did you see is not? There are sub classes within the field to make the racing fair between the age groups but they all run at the same time. Sort of like they do in IMSA with an overall winner and also class winners.
Just started watching the video, I'm an SCCA guy and I'm geeking out over the Archer Brothers trans am series Dodge in the backround! Love these videos keep it up

Thank you Neil!
Don't see a superbird everyday!
Such a cool event, I love the Levi Garret Lumina! I would also like to see the 28 car get resurrected.
I was there last weekend. Those cars were awesome I hope they come back next year.
My 2 favorites were the #5 Levi Garrett and the #15 Motorcraft even though you didn't get that one running - that sound from the 5 gave me goosebumps! And HELL YES the #28 needs to get correct and on the track - I remember watching that car run on tv!😁
Good to see real race cars again 👌...keep living the dream ✨️
damn, I thought I'd get to see you Racing! I really like the older Cars !
You will very soon! Short track racing these cars I do have my own that is almost ready to run GNSS. I would like to do the road racing with these guys next year if someone had an extra car.
@@Stapleton42 I'm suprised I don't see you going arounds in the escalade anymore, Good Luck
@@VernLeRoy1962 I haven’t used the Escalade in over 2 years. That mountain has been climbed
Fun Fact: That Romco #6, driver is Ryan Gennell, he is making his ARCA debut at Watkins Glen upcoming, thats actually a NEMCO car. Cool video like usual Stapleton
Thanks man!
front row Joe, wow what a great crowd pleasing event, I have flagged vintage Trans Am events and this equals or tops it, Thanks
Loved the cool video Mitchell.
Wish I’d known you were there would’ve invited to the start stand. Checkering the 45 on Saturday afternoon was a very happy moment.
That would have been a much better vantage point to film from!
Good you.
Great video man ,keep up the good work ..
That would be excellent, awesome car's, camera in the Petty car was great coverage, really enjoyed watching, and the history, looking forward to more ,thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
This is so freakin' awesome!!! Did I see Bill Blair's Oldsmobile?!! Sweet!!! I really liked the 45 car.
And YES on the #28 car!!! Nice video!!!🏁
This is fantastic I this could become extremely popular.
Love the look of the Levi Garrett car
Me too
The 28 car.... Yes please. Another great video, Mitchell and Logan. Love this stuff.
Good the straightway footage those old motors just hit different love the sound even through earbuds.
Yes they do no doubt
Absolutely love love love this content. Keep it up, thanks
Thanks Mitchell for sharing these types of events. Getta kick out of seeing the various eras of old school NASCAR.
“A lot less rules and a lot more fun!”😀
Just started watching the video, I'm an SCCA guy and I'm geeking out over the Archer Brothers trans am series Dodge in the backround! Love these videos keep it up
Thanks John!
Absolutely amazing cars. I love each and everyone of them. Thank you for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic as always man. I definitely miss the sound of those cars! Keep up the great work!
This video just makes me want to move to the USA and get into this series, looks awesome 🥰
