No one should be buying ivory, unless you think it is okay to destroy these magnificent, intelligent creatures. Thank you, Rick.
Ivory has been protected for many years. The only pieces that are sellable are old and not necessarily harvested from poached or hunted sources. Have you ever heard of the Elephant Graveyard? It's the place in Africa where dying Elephants always try to migrate to before their death. Lots of Ivory is also from Artic sources like Walrus and Narwal Tusks and Whale Teeth, which Sailors used for centuries to make Scrimshaw. We are all just part of one great big food chain. Please forgive me, but moral or self-righteous indignation almost always comes off as ignorance.
Whale teeth aren't ivory they're baleen. It's illegal to take ivory from dead elephants. And narwhal and walrus hunting is highly regulated, almost solely reserved for members of native tribes for subsistence. The moral is: if you buy ivory you are a @@&%÷ $#^_÷*^# with your #$^%% and a &#^^#;^ made of fire ants.
“Destroy” is a bit of a stretch. Pachyderm are HIGHLY regulated.

I think Rick is a very fair man. He mostly tells you he’s got to make money right up front ,and people don’t realize this man is giving you money right as you walk through the door ,and he takes his chances ,so people need to understand. They want a lot of money for something they can’t sell somewhere else and Rick lease gives you cash. so he’s a fair man in my book.😊

I've been there 3 times, and the Galapagos Islands, Amazon, etc. The first visit I balanced the egg, which had some touristy people pretty excited, but that was it. I cannot walk a straight line anywhere.
As a collector of ancient coins, though not a customer of Byzantine coinage, I have seen many, many examples of this coin in a cupped condition such as this one. Wouldn't base authenticity, positive or negative, on that.

I bought a pocket watch for 5 bucks at the great glebe garage sale that happens every spring in Ottawa On Canada...it turns out it is valued at over 5k all 24 karat gold.I had it apraised 😊 Some people dont know what they have and niether did I LOL

After a while you get a gut feel for it. 5 bucks was a no brainer for an antique pocket watch gold or not.
I bought a coffee maker for $6 bucks at a Pawn Shop,thought I got a good deal .

I was in a pawnshop looking around a guy came in with a little fire extinguisher that one would have in the kitchen the ones about 8in tall guy got 7 dollars for it. I know he just took it from someone's house he just left.
The Pawn Stars are the biggest rip-offs in Vegas. I went to their store having seen the show and 😂 nothing but a few pieces of random jewel and dishware nothing cool. Incredibly different then the show. Its a show not reality.

First of all, who in their right mind would sell anything of historical importance at a pawnshop? You would send it to a specific auction where there dealers and collectors specific to the auction and you’re going to get top dollar. The show has got to be so fake.

Pawn shops are scams in general. It's only for desperate folks that need that extra buck... you go there with a $1000 laptop and they give you $100 saying the value is low.. but then they try to resell it for $800

Very rare today and even if you would buy a real ivory nut to today you probably pass unless you were wealthy, the only exception being when antique guitars that have real ivory binding need to be repaired and restored. "Ivoroid" plastic binding has replaced it some years ago.

The only thing I found wrong with this video is that you are saying they are demanding X amount of dollars such as $10,000 $4000 $2000 etc. they are not demanding anything. That is what they are asking. A demand is walking in and saying you are going to pay me this Money for this particular item. No one ever did that.

@@sookie4195 that is just so big of a place in a lot of historical stuff an rhere so many cool books of it like how many like reading of or learning egypt etc fwiw especially those two I find to be almost equally interesting for being surpsingly super modern and advabced in discoveries or life.. yet so so quaint before ones ignorance is feeling suddenly replaced by epiphany/learning :D it just feels so fun, similar to how practcing some little amounts of math for fun is like a fun challenge or a puzzle etc in some sort of way..

That’s is correct. A friend of mine was on this TV show once, he was chosen simply because he was in the store looking around and they were filming that day and they asked him if he wanted to pretend to be the owner of a particular product. They then pretended to go through negotiation. I believe a lot of these stories are exactly like that.
