Good work. I think we have to count in the fact even if the new album will be as long as Stadium Arcadium, they will still keep playing old songs... Meaning, some basics like the WH10, DS2, CE-1 will be definitely needed, just for the old songs. Not to talk about songs like Throw Away Your Television which need more effects, like the FM4, the moog 12 stage phaser, and the delay and so on...
I'm really curious about the the new album and its sounds. It's nice to hear him say that he wants to "revive" rock music. I really loved their B-side "Body of Water" and it would be cool if they featured some rock tunes on the new album. However, I also loved all the special effects on Stadium Arcadium. Let's hope for a good mix of both worlds :)
The XW-1 is very underrated. It's highly tweakable, you can get a lot of different sounds from it. After owning a VOX V845 and the crappy WH10 v2, I strongly recommend the XW-1.
I just confirmed with Kevin Wilson that he's using a WH10V3 modded by him as his live wah, there's a clear pic of it, and I confirmed it with him in an email conversation. I wonder if he used this on the record too, or if he used a plastic one in the studio and uses the metal modded v3 live so as not to keep breaking them. Please do an analysis of the picture of his latest pedalboard! I can get you the pic if you haven't seen it. Also turns out he is using a boss noise gate now for some reason, perhaps when stacking pedals or as a kill switch.
Looks like the noise suppressor to me! I think that mashup board goes to show that getting his tone involves far less than a lot of people claim lol. But yea I think you nailed it, new era, new board. He still has his core tone there it looks like, but plenty of fresh stuff too. I think it's borderline impossible to predict much more. He's always making fun changes.

the white boss pedal appears to have two input jacks, likely is one of the DD series pedals, or possibly even the jb-2. most likely a DD though, as the knobs are black and would be hidden in the quality of the image
John will never stop using the Ibanez and the DS-2. He probably needs to get a new wah though. I’ll bet he’s had the same one for ages. The new WH10v3 is really reliable. I’ve owned three Ibanez wahs and all of them have had issues besides that one. The sound is too good for him to switch to a different brand, personal opinion.
I am looking forward to some fresh new additions to his pedalboard! It will be really interesting for the new record. I think it is even better and worth the hype now when we see some little glimpses and how will that go down the road!

I think the LA gig with the EHX holy grail is in fact a Mosrite fuzz rite, the switch just looks way too high up the enclosure to be an ehx holy grail? Also, it’s so early in the chain, which is where he used to place fuzz pedals, with his reverbs being down the other end of the chain. Just my thoughts anyway :)
Hmm, keep in mind there’s a shadow that perhaps makes the pedal looks smaller/shorter than it is. I think the switch looks to be quite far down. Also, look at the black bars below and above the switch. It matches the EHX, and the fuzzrite doesn’t have those bars. :) Regarding the placement in the chain, we don’t know the exact connections. So it might be last in the chain even if it isn’t placed like that. Anyway, interesting input. 😀
How do you find your SV20H and 20w silver jubilee for head space with all your fruciante pedals hooked up? I’m finding I have to have my CE-1 @3 o’clock on the low setting to get the correct amount of compression without it been too driven for the clean/ish tone? Fuzz factory > DS2 > Frusrite > micro amp> Big muff > WH10 > DL4 > CE1 stereo out with holy grail to the jubilee and other to SV20H is my chain
4:00 I have seen Wilson Effects stating that John Frusciante is actually using their v3 WH10 modded to v1 specs (WE has been working with the Chili Peppers since 2012) I think they retail for 200 bucks so it may be a better choice than hunting vintage WH10v1s,as they are more scarce due to JF making them so popular and overpriced xD
I agree with this. I own a few black wh10 v1s and the plastic accent piece with the Ibanez logo is purple on the black v1s. The v3 modded by Wilson is what I suspect as well. Can you link David Wilson’s insta post about John using a modded v3? Thanks, great video.

I think the board he used was Dave navarro's board. Flea shared a story a story on IG and we can see the wh10 and the ds2 on his pedalboard
