It strikes me that most of the time I see a real pro’s board, it’s never stocked with boutique pedals. This rig is almost entirely MXR, Boss, and Digitech, with a sprinkle of EHX. The most obscure stuff here is Moog, ffs.
We just need a in depth/rig rundown video from the men himself. Love to hear Johns thoughts about why he uses those pedals en why the settings and why they are different this time around. I know I can look it up haha but its interesting to hear john talk 😉👍
That’s never going to happen. This is the same man that’s admitted that he used to give wrong information on purpose to not be replicated. I will say this it is kinda annoying since the majority of his tone is vintage strat into vintage Marshall. Along with some effects like Distortion, Chorus, Fuzz, Boost and Wah
The MXR Flanger was also used by one of John's heroes, John McGeoch from Magazine/Siouxsie & The Banshees. Probably not why John uses it, but if nobody has heard of John McGeoch do yourself a favour & check him out. One of a kind guitarist.
Great content. Im building my John pedalboard and you do the best nost detailed videos on them. Im greatful.

1:00 The Mu-Tron IV is an envelope filter, or auto-wah. It has a similar purpose as the Moog Lowpass Filter beside it. Think of it as a Ibanez WH10 but the distinctive sound is made by the input's volume instead of moving the control knob using a foot. Flea also has this in his pedalboard.
I really do not understand why he would incorporate the Mu-Tron pedal to his rig. I think stepping on the Low-pass filet does a much better job the song parts.
I have a ds2 that i only use because Frusciante. Before calling me crazy try it. Its the 1st.pedal on my chain i have set like this, volume i use always the way no matter what pedal i use they all at the amp level then tone and dist almost at max and turbo on 2 this pedal before the wah like this once you start to shread you gone get that frusciante kinda shred. I was seling this pedal then i watched a video in yt from a guy named Dave simpson explaining how he use it,i did try it and now ill never sell it,by the way the same settings with turbo on 1 will get you near nirvana tone.Have fun 🤘
Hi Justin. Great video as always dude. The Drive of the Moogs it is a interesting one. Frusrite from Brazil have developed one pedal that bring only the drive sections for the sound, making crispier and brilliant. So it is funny to see that John set it at 9 o clock and i wondering how the stacks of moogs at the 2006's tour behave compared to this 1 moog. Hoping to have a rig rundown soon
Great content sir. A small note about the video’s audio: You seem to have a lot of sibilance, and the RUclips compression algorithm may exaggerate that. Have you used a de-esser on your audio tracks?
Interesting to see a Mutron (Micro-tron IV) on a JF board. Can't think of a tune that uses that auto-wah. FYI the micro-tron is a reissue of the original Musitronics Mu-tron III. Mike Beigel reissued the series after seeing how much originals were selling for. Despite being the same designer it doesn't sound quite as good as the original used by P-Funk and Jerry Garcia
It literally says “thegigrig” in the thumbnail which are Dan’s products. You’re the sucker if you thought it meant anything to do with That Pedal Show when it clearly didn’t.
@@samysaab 😂 how is it clickbait when he literally discussed that we now know there are more GigRig products being used in John’s rig. You don’t know what clickbait actually is dude

@@fauthyfernandez4762never heard about that info.

Your absolutely right

Jerry Garcia made famous the mutron
Love the JF coverage 💯🔥
Man you’re quick. I saw that picture earlier on Reddit and thought about you but wasn’t expecting such a quick upload.
Great Photo! Thank you for sharing😊👍
I love your John F videos
Nice one mate , your attention to detail is great to see .
Cheers Chris
The right up/down switch is on his pedal. It’s fuzzy looking but it’s there.
I would suspect the signal path starts at the muff.
Also, mutron is for FUNK.
OG mutron is all over loads of 70s goodness.
Love these Frusciante videos!

Myself and a few of my jf buddies came to the conclusion - probably more for experimental stuff/jamming

I’m starting to think he changes his pedal settings before these pics to throw people off 🤯
Any idea of the signal chain?
Oh hell yeah
best jf channel

Hey Justin, do you know about Kentaro Kiuchi's book on JF?
9 o clock on the drive on the moog mf101 is a slight boost
can the GiGrig Evenflow power the DL4 too.? ?
Because i think the DL4 needs 1200mA output.
JF use effects loop in the amp or all in the front of amp?
Anyone know who makes the actual pedalboard? I really like the two-tier system with storage under the second row.
John doesn't use mxr dyna comp?
He just needs g3 switcher at this point or get Dan to build him a board
Where’s the original photograph
yo this is my very first video where im first, dope video bro!
What is the hx stomp used for ?
It's like two full boards in one. Red Hot.
unity gain 12 o clock for 101! super interesting he's cutting with it
Que toque sin tanto efecto aversi muy chingon
Revisa los vídeos de frusciante desde la era californication hacia atrás, 5 pedales bastaban para sonar bien
❤️
🤟✨
Jerry Garcia popularized the mutron for his sound - envelope filter
Very neat... but too much MXR. Don't get me wrong... I like MXR.... Just a taste thing is all.
In Wich song he use the flanger?
I like the Video but I am pissed off seeing a picture of that pedal show before the video Starts. Thats a sucker move
