- Throughout Alex Murdaugh’s family murder trial, the disgraced lawyer has displayed a roller coaster of emotions while listening to testimony. Plus, footage showing police questioning the disbarred South Carolina attorney on multiple occasions after the murders of his wife and son in June 2021 was recently released by the court. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber and body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass dissect Murdaugh’s behavior at different times in the case and discuss what can potentially be inferred from analyzing his actions.

Something I noticed immediately is that he didn't ask to check if they're alive. He asked to check if they were dead.
That could be because he saw the wounds and didn’t really believe they could have survived. I think when you see someone’s brains lying on the ground you would be pretty sure they were dead.
If that were my family, friend, stranger, whoever, I would have checked for signs of life and started CPR if indicated. My first inclination would be to try to rescue them while rescue and police are en route to the scene.
He needed confirmation to feel safe
He wanted confirmation to feel safe. No witness
@kd8199 he doesn't even explain the scene to the 911 operator or ask what to do. He hangs up the phone to start calling people before he even knows what's going on. Why is he calling the neighbor kid?? That 911 operator is your lifeline in a crisis. Also, he doesn't go through any stages of grief, he just skips right to acceptance. He doesn't ask why, he doesn't seem the least bit concerned about who, there's no disbelief.
Never ever did this guy ever try to look for a killer
Exactly, he never seems like he wants to catch who did this. "Why would anyone do this, how could anyone do this?" Etc
Exactly!!!
A reward was offered, but no one ever came forward with any information, so the reward goes unclaimed as of now.
He is like OJ. OJ never really looked for the killer of his wife
I thought the same thing!!!!!
This was premeditated. He asked his wife to come over so they could go to visit his father. He asked Paul to come home so they could plant sunflowers. Now both of them are dead and he was the last person with them…which he denied, until everyone identified him as being on the scene based on Paul’s video. All of a sudden his defense changed and he admitted that he lied. Why? Because he was identified as being on the scene and there was no way he could get out of being found guilty. Now all of a sudden “he’s” his defense. He gets on the stand because he thinks he can outwit the DA. What a sick pathological liar. This man literally massacred his wife and son. If only the dogs could talk.
Exactly! And to think he said to his sister's wife that the person that did it thought about it for a long time, that is truly sick and vile.
Spot on! Don't forget: He thought that he was brilliant with committing a murder and then covering it up. I suspect that he would have even gotten away with it IF Paul had not recorded that video. That one piece of audio from that iPhone video placed him on the scene and destroyed his otherwise solid alibi.
So, essentially, Alex Murdaugh did (kind of) outsmart the cops and the DA -- until a video proved him to be a liar. His world unraveled because the son that he murdered in cold blood had captured his voice on a timestamped video.
My only question (still) is whether Alex Murdaugh had "help." It's a ruthlessly brutal thing to gun down someone. Shootings gave PTSD to soldiers in WW2 for killing Nazi and Japanese soldiers. A few years ago, I had a neighbor in his upper-80s who had PTSD from the Korean War. That war ended in 1953 -- and this man was carrying the pain of killing North Korean communists ever since.
So, I wonder if this was a crime of passion (i.e., Alex killed Paul and then his wife in a fit of rage) OR that he planned for someone else to kill them. I'm sometimes leaning toward the latter. In his testimony, he seemed very assertive that someone else did this because he did not "do this" and he did "not pull the trigger." It was one of the only things that he was ever assertive about. It's still premeditated murder (by proxy). However, one allows a sociopath to "wash his hands" of direct culpability.
I've been trying to figure out if it was premeditated or a crime of passion. You're right; he did call them both over there. But I don't get his storyline about going to visit his dad. What was his explanation about why he ended up going without Maggie?
@@ccchhhrrriiisss100 I've watched a lot about this case but I have not watched the whole trial yet. What I think is that his wife wanted a divorce and she had accountants looking into their finances. On top of that because of the boat case, two days after the murders happened, he was supposed to provide his financial statements for that. He kills them both and all of his financial problems disappear, the family name is saved, and he gets sympathy from everybody. What I truly wonder is if buster is aware of what his father had done.
I do not believe it was a crime of passion, it was an unraveling of generations of this powerful and wealthy family (at HIS doing)... And a last-ditch effort to change that. His whole world was crumbling around him and he thought that was his best option to change it.
You know what is super interesting to think about... The drug dealer that he had wanted to shoot him... Said he felt like he was being set up. I truly believe that he was planning on killing that man in self-defense and framing him for the murders. "I owed my drug dealer a bunch of money and he came to kill me and I wasn't there, so he killed my family and came back for me." 🙄 He didn't want to die or when the guy didn't kill him, he would have finished it himself. He wanted to set that man up. Who are they going to believe between him and a scummy drug dealer?
@@leahbia82 - Excellent points!
I'm not an expert at all at body language and I know everyone reacts differently. But, whether someone seems to be in shock, crying hysterically, or quietly sobbing, it's going to seem genuine and he doesn't. How can anyone seem so completely out of it by sobbing with grief, then instantly sit up & start reciting their timeline with no emotion at all. You couldn't but he could!
If I just make my voice like Mickey Mouse they will believe me
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😆😜😜😜😜😜😜
YES!! They fell for it! It helped the guilty verdict go down to 65% this is how he managed to cheat Millions off the dead & disabled
Aw see now I can't hear him sounding like anything else for the rest of this I am going to picture him with whiskers and mickeymouse ears
Sounds like the geeky kid who pops up on the Simpsons.
If your son has just died in a horrible way, I don't think you would be able to come up with any faults your son had. It would feel so much like a betrayal to do that. He is not genuine at all to me.
Omg I was thinking the same thing 💯!! Like how could you think of anything negative smh.
Bc he just blew him away.
I didn't catch that... That's a good observation and one that reveals his thoughts.
He's a cr...he's 📱 y here like anything and he said...I did it so bad! And meant THEM! You clearly can hear I did it so bad. I hope this cr dsnt come free...tht wouldn't be justice! He's the murderer. And some said, he didn't do it coz of embarrassment coz of his money stealing, too...of course, this comes into consideration, too. Wow, what a 🤮...betrayed ppl with money, too...drugs don't come into play here. As this guy is very cold and calculated. Taking drugs dsnt mean to kill...but tht s only my opinions. Hope, he goes to jail!
This is silly af. I hope you never sit on a jury.
Notice how Alex says, “She was a wonderful girl and great wife, and she was a wonderful mother. And um, you know she didn’t work….” He mentioned that in the trial, too. I think he resented her “not working” because he was, and she was spending HIS money.
His money that he stole….. 😂 ‘Alex: I worked hard for that money!’
Right, I thought that was the strangest thing to say in this situation ... 🙄
I thought he resented it because money is sole purpose in life, not his career and his family. He didn’t ask Buster to come to Moselle because he wanted that Murdaugh power legacy to continue. Paul and Maggie were expendable. Alex mentioned Maggie didn’t work more than one time, but was quick to say she did everything. If he said it in reverse then I would say he appreciated her, but he mentions not working first. He was having money problems and she was going to leave him because bills were going unpaid. She mentioned his infidelity to her sister. Yeah, she was going to take everything that was left. That is why he killed. He killed Paul because he was costing him money too, with the lawsuits.
Sounds about right. My ex was that way. He resented me for staying home with the kids, even though that’s what he said he wanted. I’m glad I got out with my kids!!! He is a controlling, manipulative man, much like this one.
I think she was part of their financial problems. But they couldn't bring it up as it would have given him motive to finish her off.
It’s crazy how rich, powerful, confident people can just get working class/poor, disadvantaged people to just be in awe of their status and power. I’ve witnessed it firsthand. They can literally get away with anything.
I thought it was significant that he asked the officer, "Are they dead?" I bet that most people would have asked "Are they alive?" which reveals what he wants to be true.
Like please confirm there’s no life. It felt cruel.
I think he knew they were dead. Pretty obvious with their brains blown out.
Not true. I’ve been asked if there family member was dead many times in natural deaths. They know at those times but there’s phases people go through and they can’t accept it until they hear it’s true
@@Slowz-ed8nv When my Dad was dying, I got *the* phone call in the middle of the night from a very young orthopaedics nurse who waveringly whispered to me, “I am calling to tell you that your father has gone to sleep.” To the dead silence, I replied, “Do you mean that he has died?” I didn’t say, “Is he officially dead?”
[Of course, he was.]
@@jaykay1053 that’s a good story but I can only talk about my patients families and friends I’ve had in person
Another thing… when he was on the stand they asked him “ how was Paul and Maggie’s relationship ?” Alex says “wonderful” and then they ask “how was your relationship with Maggie?” Alex says “wonderful” and then they ask “ How was your relationship with Paul?” And Alex says “Well it was as good as it could be”… I mean wow
Not once did he say ANYTHING like stop accusing me & help me find out who killed my family!
For me, it’s when the cops show up at the murder scene, and Alec says, almost right away “It’s a long story….” Like he’s going to go into a whole history of the boat accident etc etc; meanwhile his wife and son are lying dead and bloody right there.
Things that make you go “Hmmmm….”
If you listen closely In the beginning of the video he said "I did it so bad" He basically sat there and said I did it so bad he just confessed
@@joyimran9087 I totally think he did it but I can hear it both ways so I wouldn't really put too much stock into that.

Indeed, I got the same feeling.
@misskitty2710 - agree with you, he might as well had an ⬇️ pointing above his head, he was so use to sliding out of trouble his whole life he was confident this would be the same. Unbelievable!!!! 🙄
He keeps giving the driver the side eye to see if he is buying his BS. His lawyer is wishing he would stop it.
this is some of the worst acting since starship troopers
Glad I am not the only one who noticed the side eye 😅
Yep
Alex Murdaugh is such a POS and so full of BS I can't watch him one more second. it is nauseating. complete sociopath. that you keep saying "how could someone do this?" is naive and absurd. people do it all the time
@@jennifercashman738 And this lady supposed to be the expert. 🤣🤣🤣
I just want to say: last summer, I went out front and was looking for my senior cat who wasn't coming when it was time to come in. She never went far, so I started to feel like I knew what was up...
I stepped to the other side of my truck and there she was, laying on the ground, on her side. She was stiff with her eyes wide open and tongue hanging out sideways. Dead. I mean, I'm a person who NEVER cries (maybe 2x in 10 years) and I've actually thought about how I would react when she passed (she was 18 and we knew it was coming soon), but nothing prepared me for the actual moment.
I broke down like a blubbering mess, I couldn't even go by her... I was sobbing hysterically and ran into the house to get my husband, but I couldn't even speak. I dropped to my knees and was just sobbing and literally couldn't catch my breath to speak... I had to force myself up to lead him outside and point to the direction that she was at. I didn't stop crying for at least an hour and then I was so exhausted and catatonic from crying and seeing her like that...
Now here's Alex. He just "stumbled upon" his son with his BRAINS AT HIS FEET, in a POOL of blood... And his dead wife. Do I think his reaction is normal? No. I think he had a story to tell and as soon as they got there, he started: "it's a long story..." like wtf. Then asks the officer who comes later, "how ya doin?" WHO THE FUNK CARES HOW HE'S DOING?! 😂 WHAT. THE.
One thing- I still have that graphic vision of when I found her that day and it breaks my heart. I hope he sees what HE DID to his son and wife every time he closes his eyes. You could see the remorse every time they talked about the condition of Paul's body during the trial... Maggie, not so much. He didn't want to kill Paul, but he had to make that boat case go away so he could hide his web of deceit. Never would've happened... But that was his last attempt to fix it. Big life insurance policies, no more justice for Mallory and maybe you can save the family name with sympathy. Ha. It's no coincidence that 2 days before he has to show his finances AND the very SAME DAY his firm fires him, this happened. It was now or never.
He had to have a speedy trial to try for that not guilty verdict BEFORE all the damning financial evidence (aka MOTIVE) came out. Fail.
I am so sorry about your fur baby. I have been there and it is the worst. We will see them again!❤
He had the story in his head of why someone shot them that he couldn’t help himself. He was already three steps ahead with what he was saying, and ahead in natural emotions after “ discovering the bodies”.
He even told his sister-in-law, that whoever did it must’ve thought about it for a long time. Yes, he sure did.
Yeah, that's one of the big giveaways for me. He couldn't wait to get the story out about Paul being victimised because of the boat crash, he mentioned it again in the police car.
All people react differently .
THAT SAID, I think most people within minutes of finding their spouse dead and their son’s brains splattered on the concrete would be too preoccupied with “ how am I going to live without them?” to spend much time conjecturing on who did it. For most normal people that would come later after the initial shock
@karlamaxx3 Why did he say that ? (if he was trying to prove it wasnt him)
He was keeping up the façade at the birthday. Other people were there. I grew up with a parent that did this any time people were around that there was a need to 'impress' or make believe everything was 'perfect' all the time, when in reality, that couldn't have been further from the truth. Saving face is really important to a narcissistic sociopath and this is classic in Alex's case. He admitted to a witness that testified today that whoever killed them had thought about it for a long time. I believe he absolutely did and that he calculated every step in trying to get away with it. He's absolutely vile in every way, and I have zero doubt that he is guilty of these murders.
Yes, he said it to Maggie's sister!
Agree but it will be a hung jury.
@kanadiangurlasmr6525 sounds just like my father and our family. 😢 It was so toxic, and it still hurts when I think about it
I 100% agree with you!
Yeah he said it too Maggie’s sister. I watched her testimony today from start to finish. IMO that was Alex subconsciously projecting. I’ve no doubts Alex planned out the murders for weeks.
"I went back to the kennels"....BIG PAUSE because he knows he just blew his alibi. I love how the detective repeated that phrase: "So when you went back to the kennels...."
I agree it's odd but the kennels were also back of the property.
I caught that too Jane. He said "back" to the kennels. That sounds like he did go to the kennels BEFORE he went to his Mom's to check on her. Why else would he say "back to the kennels" if he hadn't been to them the first time.
@@Eva_aloha I think the kennels are at the front of the property....not far off the main highway. The house sits a good way back from the road. I've seen it on google maps.
He went back to the house to get a gun, then went back to the kennels - is what Alex said. But, it was common knowledge that Alex kept a gun in glove box per Maggie's sister.....
@@jenniferrueger1694after he found them dead, correct? Does anyone ever say where his car was parked when the police arrived?
While I’m no expert, I have seen many interrogations and when someone loses a loved one-especially with a parent who has lost a child-they go into a state of denial. Even when the child has clearly been dead for hours, parents still cling on to hope that their child is still alive. That did not happen here. He yells, “They’re dead, aren’t they?!!” Which just rings odd to me.
Plus any parent / husband would be holding their loved ones if they found them murdered. Sane persons would have had blood all over them after holding them and trying to perform cpr, etc.
Not true

Of course he was happy at the bday celebration … he was the center of attention - what narcissists live for!
Absolutely!!!!
when someone no longer has anything to offer to a narcissistic sociopath, they become 100% disposable. it doesn't matter if they are family or a stranger.
100% the truth. When you become more of a liability, then an advantage giving the narc supply they start figuring out the best way to discard you (dispose of you)
thank you
the dude was on prescription drugs. doctors just don't hand out infinite prescriptions, this entails the idea of illegal drug purchases taking place and given how he moves money around, if he fronts or shorts an actual criminal entity on payments, things work out a lot differently. This is how we know the use of 300BLK entails a younger shooter. For all we know that rifle could have been used as a payment for drugs.... which would actually begin to explain A LOT RIGHT THERE.
💯Truth it happened to me, I am thankful to be breathing

Not all Dr's require the necessary tests and scans to verify source of chronic pain.. especially with affluent people like this..Many Dr's have been known to take extra money as incentive to write scripts. Which is what ruins it for the people who actually are in pain management for legit proven chronic pain conditions who do everything by the books. I hate people like this. His genuine expression of happiness in the birthday video is because ... it's about him! People are celebrating him. That gives him the high/rush/attention he believes he should have all the time.
He sounded relieved when they confirmed they were dead rather than how most people would react.

In addition to the timeline (impossible for anyone else to have done this), his lies, his alibi blown, the fact that he never ever cries "for them," for their pain, their fear, their terror, but only for himself is telling. Add to that he never said, please run, drive, search, go everywhere and find who did this to my wife and my son. The gun was a show. He couldn't bear to stand next to the bodies once he called 911, so he went back to the house, then came back only when he had to (gun excuse). He didn't act scared that the perpetrator was still lurking around, traceable, nor did he beg cops to find them- ever. He then staged a hit on himself- proven- to further deflect attention to some stranger on the loose. If he's capable of paying someone shoot him, he's capable of anything. We've seen boating DWI incidents many times. No one goes and kills the family of the drunk kid. Absurd. The messages were probably because the family kept lying and covering up. Not real threats just disgust. He probably killed the housekeeper too so he could steal her family's money from the settlement. People die around this dude and he love pretending he's the victim.
He loves to kill he loves to hunt and kill his prey that's what he did to his own family I love doves they are the sweetest birds I have two and I can't imagine how anyone could lure them in just for target practice but he loved doing that he loved the slaughter of the innocent.
Yes, your points about WHY there was so much local anger about the boat wreck was due to so many people seeing that the Murdaughs, as usual, were just interested in themselves. And the families of the other people on the boat were just appalled at how they behaved. Then there was the obstruction of justice that they set up with the corrupt local officers. These officers wrote up false reports saying that it wasn't Paul steering the boat.
The people in the area had been afraid of them for a long time, and they were seeing things happen again.
Had they been forthright and honest about the boat wreck, there would still have been anger, but not so much.
I also thought your comments about his going to get the gun because it gave him a reason to not remain by the bodies, was very interesting. I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense.
At the end of the Netflix documentary they state that Alex took out a commercial insurance policy on his house 1 month before his housekeeper passed. That is what was presumably used to cover the 4.3 million policy payout. The timing is really sus...
The zero to 100 emotional reaction is alarming. I find it interesting she didn't mention it, but they've studied body language, facial expressions, and vocal regulation. In true emergencies and traumatic situations body language can be consciously dampered and/faked, in sociopaths in particular facial expressions can be regulated, but vocal regulation is the thing even the best liars struggle to regulate in those situations. It's the truest tell. He goes high pitched at that 0-100 but goes straight back to a fairly calm tone uncomfortably fast.
My daughter passed out and fell a few months back. It was out of the blue and it scared the c***p out of me. I called 911 because, for a moment, I was having trouble getting her to answer me. I consider myself pretty good in a crisis, as my grandma was a nurse and taught me to stay calm, panic never helps... I had to remind myself to breathe more than once though because I was having trouble talking. This guy supposedly just found his wife and youngest son in unspeakable condition but his voice is calm during way too much of his conversations with LEO

"This is a long story. There was a boating accident.... I know that's what it is." So he did it to deal with the boating accident, something of an unconscious confession imo. Although he obviously thinks he's deflecting blame.
Yep this is very true!
@$60,000 a week for his drugs, Alex could not share the wealth with another family. The Devil made him do it, literally.
Yep, his ego as the main player is boundless..
If I lost someone I love, I’d be devastated and wouldn’t be able to say anything. I’m not sure I’d be able to breath.
One thing I noticed is he never said if only I had stayed at the kennel. He never seemed to feel bad he left. He said he gotta out of there fast. Her sister on the other hand felt so bad she told her sister to come there to be with Alex.
Finally! I've been waiting for someone to mention Alex's potential negative feelings towards Paul... I really think he was upset with Paul since the boat case was coming to a head... I think he snapped since everything was falling apart. Alex probably thought the boat case was the fuel to his financial misdeeds coming to fruition. Either he hired people to kill them or he did it himself... either way his hands are not clean of this.
All he says is Paul was a really good kid... when we all know he was a self entitled brat that his parents created because they are also entitled. When a parent can't admit a fault in their kid when we know about his past already, it seems disingenuous.
Maggie also confided with her friend that the upcoming $30 million lawsuit would wipe her families finances out if they lost. They would then have to start from scratch, she said she would be OK with this, I don't think the same could be said for AM.
Remember what the aunt said in court today, Paul was the little detective, he went around the house searching for his fathers opioid stashes, I'm sure Alex had a big problem with that, his son was hindering his addiction.
He was there within minutes before the murders, he was at the scene of the crime and lied about it. He didn't know Paul had been recording, he didn't know Paul's pin# to unlock the phone that he fished out of his son's pocket. They laid there long enough for the blood to pool, so Alex's proximity to the bodies was early enough the blood hadn't had a chance to pool yet. The timeline also shows he lied about his arrival and checking their pulse for signs of life. With his timeline, and call record, there was no possible way he could have ran 35+ feet to check Paul first. Then go over to Maggie and check her pulse. From his vehicle records, call log, putting the vehicle in park... to the time he made the call to 911 would be physically impossible. Alex Murdaugh lied in attempts to cover his tracks. He thought about this for a long time, as he suggested.
Maybe it's not about what Paul (or Maggie) did, but what they could have said when the boat case came to a head. Maybe they knew too much.
Alex was leading a double life for a long time before the killings.
The cop is not buying a minute of it..his expression is priceless.
What got me is how his son buster testified that it wasnt his dads voice on the kennel video and then the dad finally just admitted it which shows the son was willing to lie, if anyone doubts this family wont lie to try to help each other and threw buster right under that big ol bus and watching again he started in on the boat story within a few seconds so prepared sounding
yep, I feel like he knew.
Wonder if an investigation of perjury will happen based around that…
5:29 "went BACK down to the kennel". Long story made short.
@@DealerDream82 I thought that too but seems like everyone's tired and feeling bad for him, also sounds like he might have a lot about the Steven Smith case on his plate real soon, maybe he could be just fined for perjury cause at this point its hard to deny but I don't know how that works
He definitely had all his little alibis lined up (ie him timestamping his texts, calls, and visit with Ms Shelly), but why did he allegedly invite Maggie over that night to due to his father's condition, yet he went instead by himself to see his mother? And why did he lie about being at the kennels with them? And every time he was going into the details, he gave a side eye to see how it was received.
He also asked his mom's caretaker to say he was there for 40 mins when he was only there for 15-20 mins, and in the same breath (when he said for her to say 40 mins) he told her that he was going to pay for her wedding, and in court she said he never said anything like that before that day. They also can not find the clothes that he had on that day of the shooting. He also said that he didn't have to worry about having to pay that money because of the accident in the boat that Paul did. I really think he killed them!
if you thought someone illed your family why have anybody stay at your home later?
Yea hes done.
Also subtly name dropped for effect, "Do you know this or that person" just to then alert them that he did. Calls Paul, "Quite the little detective" during this interview. If it's true that Maggie & Paul tried to intervene with AM's using habit as per evidence in the case, then they were both on very dangerous ground. Bound together against AM. Why did AM call Paul that, what happened that nobody knows about?
I saw that side eye too, like he was checking if they were buying his story or not..
I think he’s genuinely happy in the birthday video because it’s about HIM. He’s a narcissist. He isn’t happy because he’s around family, he’s happy because he’s at a gathering honoring him.
Exactly what I thought. He's got all the attention, control, and he's getting a bunch of stuff. Of course a narcissist would be happy about that.
Yup! Just like Casey Anthony. She resented anyone asking bout her missing daughter. But when her parents were like “how are YOU doing?”, she turned to sap. But when her mom or dad mentioned Kaylee again, it went straight back to contempt. It’s insane how ego centric the narcissist is. So scary!
I thought this too. But then again, his reaction is a typical birthday reaction
During the part where the officer talks to him at the scene of the crime, you see him take a sigh of relief after the initial conversation as if he had gotten past one of the hurdles and a burden was lifted. Unfortunately this is cut off in this segment, but can be seen elsewhere. You see this often in interrogation videos once the suspect believes the detective is buying their story.
He didn't say he went "to" the kennels, he said he went "back" to the kennels (5:28). Good thing they found the son's video.
My mother was murdered when I was 28. I'm looking at Alex's affect and he is way too engaged. If you had recorded my face and my sisters' faces, we were ZOMBIES - which I think would be more the norm. I know everyone grieves differently, but look at his eyes. And the cry bursts are annoying.
When my dad died unexpectedly and we had to identify his body, tears were hard to come by. I was in zombie like state as well because you can’t process something you’re not mentally prepared to handle. I agree.
When I lost my child I was in that shocked zombie like state for a very long time.
When my mother died unexpectedly when i was 30, I felt so detached to the reality around me. My body was going through the motions but my mind was in a state of shock. The next week, i just sat in a rocker all week with my mind not thinking - just staring at the wall.
Alex , supposedly lost his wife and his baby child and he was concentrating on telling everyone what he hoped were believable lies/ alibis.
I hope he is haunted by the look on Maggie's and Paul's faces when he looked them in their eyes and shot them - while he is alone in a prison cell.
Totally agree....
Jesus, sorry to hear that. What year did it happen? What city are you in?
That policeman or detective questioning him in the car has positioned himself as far as possible away from him in the small confines of the car....he can barely get himself to look towards him knowing full well that he is lying through his teeth....he hates even having to breathe the same air as him...
He's a sociopath. He doesn't laugh or smile in the tree video. He is very theatrical. When it's about, Alex he's happy! He volunteered so much info right out of the gate. He kept the same story with police in the vehicle, and the one officer that came up to him. He talked to 911. So, three sets of ppl he told the same story like it was rehearsed!
I immediately noticed that he keeps a great distance from the dead. Sure, for clues and evidence. But nobody could stop me from holding the hand of my chopped up child. If I can still think like a lawyer in this horrible situation, then something is wrong.
I always love when they cry with no tears.
Yes No Kleenex needed to blow nose is telling.
You'd think his expensive defence team could supply him with a tear producing machine that actually works. He's constantly wiping away non existent tears. He turns the drama on and off like a light switch . Sociopath.
@@marisapoleskysucking on sour patch kids. Most times makes our eyes water but not his!!!but he try’s and try’s.. and I thought they were life savers! 😂🤣😂
No sniffles, dead give away. He tried but it never comes.
His first mistake was when the officer went to him and immediately puts a story out, about the boat crash, to point them in a direction to follow up on and deflect them away from him. No one asked him what happened but he was very quick to offer one. He was trying to control the narrative, it didn't work ..
Wasn't instant. If you watch the whole thing.
I noticed he immediately tried to steer a scenario about the murders to the boat crash Paul caused 😢 even in death he’s projecting toward a person who cannot defend themselves ☹️
Thank you for the great analysis!!!
Let's talk about today's testimony. How about how Alex's head SNAPPED BACK when Mrs. Proctor said "We were all afraid. Alex wasn't afraid". Did y'all watch today?
Agree, did you also catch that she said he has always kept a gun in his truck, so why the need to go to the house and get a shotgun, if you keep one in the truck, I find that weird.
@@vetnurse6162 Probably because he used the one he keeps ib his truck and had to ditch that one and go to the house to get another one.
Where's his GRIEF?
My grandbaby died last August, and I can't discuss it without CRYING! Murdaugh barely sheds a tear RIGHT AFTER these murders.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My 4th Grandbaby died in June. My Second one died in August 2017. I still cry for him to this day... on top of my newest Granddaughter... You understand me😢!
I love all the smiles as they discuss a family murder.
What about when he testified? Repeatedly verbally answering "no" to the "Did you kill..." questions while nodding yes? Ball dropped here, guys.
After he said it's official, he took a breath almost like in relief that there may be no chance that he will be found guilty.
I believe he did it! There are a lot of ppl that can cry on cue, and like they say, he is a lawyer and knows exactly what the jury and everyone else needs to see!
I can eeeeeasily get tears going in seconds. I've been able to do that since I was a kid and it got me what I wanted when I was little lol. Now it looks like it might get Alex what he wants if the jury believes the tears. But considering how much he "cried" in court, he really should have gone through at least a few boxes of tissues.
My three year old granddaughter carried on so bad my daughter caved and she stopped crying immediately and looked over at her brother with a big smile and said haha I win! I guess if a three year can do it we shouldn't be surprised this guy has everything to lose if he isn't convincing all my granddaughter had was bothering her brother.
he couldn't even kill the family dog when it was on its death bed for mercy, but somehow you want me to believe he massacred his favorite boy and wife without any evidence?
@Some One There's a woman who was in court last year. Her initials are AH. Just like Alex, she's also known for being able to cry, cry, cry, but not produce ANY TEARS!! Amazing!! Not a drop spilt!! Liars, both of them!!
@@cariadbach Yep Narcissist 101
he even said in court, that when he left the Kennels, the dogs were running around. if it wasnt him, who put the dogs back? if it were someone else, why didnt the dogs notice them?! prosecutor asked this, he said "there was no one else around."
This whole case is so incredibly heartbreaking 💔 I saw the animation of how the shootings happened. Paul would've survived had he at least passed out unless, of course, he really checked their pulses. He must have been disoriented to walk towards the door. He was ambushed and probably confused. He had to know he'd been shot, tho! Poor baby!! He got to the door, startled Alex, who was switching guns, and was shot again😭😭 I can't even begin to understand how he did this to his own son. He said I did him so bad. Yes, he did.
Nope, he said "they" - part of the story of how he was being threatened b/c of the boat accident.
He told police he took his son's pulse. And then he told police his son didn't have a brain. Why would you take the pulse of someone who doesn't have a brain.
He said “I”. Then at the man in the backseat behind the driver as soon as he says “I”. Even that man knew instantly!
One body language tell not mentioned in the vid: When the body cam officer first arrives, Murdaugh points his finger immediately in the OPPOSITE direction of the crime scene to divert the officer's attention towards his shotgun instead. He then concocts the "boat wreck' connection to point the blame and pin the motive on "others" in the opposite direction as well. The dude tried to control the investigation from the get-go. It will be poetic justice of epic proportion if Paul's phone vid sends daddy up the river.
I also noticed the first thing he said was: ?She didn't work" and he caught himself. Then said: she took care of us, since she didn't work. But he had turned to look at the investigator. Yeah, he was mad at her, and felt she had not did anything to help make any money. Plus, she would not sign the Beach house over. Paul looked like his mom. I know they will place him on PC, and he will rot away in a Prison. But, they should let him go into population. He will dig his own hole, and try these same scams, and that will not fly in prison.
I love how she said that crying escalates, rather than coming out immediately! It's so true! From what I've noticed, when a lot of people cry (especially as adults), they try to conceal these emotions at first (often because they don't want to be judged or pitied, etc), so they try to keep it under wraps. It's only when they can't hold it in anymore that they freely express their emotions!
Edit: I can't talk on anyone else's experiences or on medical diagnosises (since I'm not qualified to do that), but her saying that Alex was genuinely happy during the birthday dinner makes sense to me. My mother was narcissistic, and anything that made her the center of attention, or made her feel special in some way always made her genuinely happy and agreeable. However anything that annoyed, upset or ignored her in the most tiniest way would be rigorously scorned, demeaned, and hated on! And from what I understand narcissism is a symptom of psychopathy, so the fact that he can have these two different sides, especially with a condition that focuses on a lack of empathy or feelings for other people, makes sense to me!
This is not true though. I’m not saying this guy is innocent but when my uncle died I kept it together for several weeks but broke down 0-100 one day out of the blue
Yeah, nothing makes a narcissist happier than being the center of attention . It doesn't mean they love the people that are showing them the attention .
Or being shown up. Like in Paul laughing at him in the Snapchat video. Apparently he’d been trying to get it to stand / grow straight. What should have been a light-hearted moment isn’t. You can see it in the third interview when he’s shown the video for the first time. A flash of anger, rather than feeling joy at hearing your dead son’s laugh from the last day you were together. And he mentioned in the 2nd interview (?) about going to the duck pond with Paul & that Paul was laughing because his corn was growing faster than his dads. It seemed like he was going to say “Paul was his usual bratty self” but stopped himself at braa.. self.
Narcissistic for sure.
Doesn’t anyone notice AM said he went “back” to the kennels? If he wasn’t there that evening, he would say he went “to” the kennels. I also don’t know if he was asked to produce the clothes and shoes he was wearing in the snap chat video that evening? Maybe I missed these to points.
Great catch!
He says he went back home to get a gun after he found Maggie and Paul at the kennels. So when he says he went back, he is referring to coming back after getting his gun.
@Lisa Blevins he said it before he even found their bodies, timestamp is about 5:28
Was he at the kennels earlier when he and Paul spent the time (2 hrs?) driving around the property?
He went back to kennels because he was there earlier during Paul’s video.
This is how I would expect a narcissist who never cried since he was a child and was very out of touch with his real emotions would “ cry” and “ react to a traumatic situation .”
I don't see real tears coming out of him, and during the trial. He is putting on an act.
He was treated with kid gloves from the moment the officers stepped on that scene. And I have a bad feeling he is going to get away with murder.
Even if he gets away with murder he will be in jail or prison the rest of his life for all the financial crimes he still has to have a trial for
He still had his Solicitor’s badge (district atty badge) in September.
Crying without tears reminds me of Amber Heard's tales...
💯‼️
You can literally see a tear fall off his face as this woman states she's seen no tears.
Nothing is worse than the dry SNIFFS!!!
Interesting that Alex said to the detective on body cam, "I went back to the kennels." To me that meant he had been there earlier but was denying it at that time.
I could never see a single visible tear from this man. I hear lots of "crying" and opiate addicts tend to have stuffy noses. But never could i see tears in any of the bodycam, car, or trial footage
They way he cries here and the way he cries in court is totally different.
Yeah and no point is there real tears.
He slips up when he said Paul left when he saw what happened then he changed the words real quick this man is a sick person and deserves to be behind bars!!

Right
Absolutely!!!
I tend to believe that when too much info is offered its generally a lie. Or a lie covered in bits of truth.
not necessarily, don‘t get deceived by that believing.
people with lot of trauma experience are conditioned to explain themself a lot in order to tell their story.
this, what you see is learned behavior - he studied others and how it should be behaved in certain circumstances.
sociopaths are mostly highly intelligent and they learn how to behave in order to trap others.
be cautious not to fall into that trap.
That was all extra. Nothing to do with what happened.
I find it strange that he would want to stay there and keep looking at them. I would want to move away from seeing that.
The first thing i would notice would be the lack of tears even though his voice sounded so upset.
I feel 100% sure he said "I" , not they. What a monster to kill his own son and wife. Justice for Maggie and Paul.
I rewind that part, maybe 10 times. Every time, I heard "I".

@@cecilyworley8424 It is not about making it sensational. You must see that the fact they took out a policy for their housekeeper... I do not know of anyone taking out a policy for their housekeeper. And what makes the situation more suspicious -- I say 'suspicious' here-- is that she dies after that AND her policy money is stolen by the very person who took it out! Also, he defrauded the insurance company with his "troubled" cousin by having him "shoot" him in the head...His cousin has confessed to this. He wasn't there the night of the boat accident that is true but the rest of it shows a pattern of behavior.
The way he uncrosses his arms and steps towards the camera when asking 'its official that they're dead' is so revealing. He's very eager to get this confirmation and can't hide the change in tone in his voice at the end of this sentence. It goes from tearful to cold and matter of fact. If he was innocent this would be something he dreaded hearing but his body language and words suggests the opposite.
Yes. Several times during the trial his face to to ice and he looks like cold blooded killer.
I just think the question is totally weird. All the time he was wailing for responders, did he see any sign of life? Also, I believe he asked if they were dead at least one other time.
Yes he wanted to know cause if they were alive they may be able to tell what happened!

One may think this is after the fact, but anyone who is good at judging people's behavior (not necessarily a profiler), be it words or body language, one can see through him, it seems he has lived his whole life in lies and deceits, a very dangerous man, his tear can be real only when he was upset that he was caught.

Unbelievable how a father could kill his son, and he sacrificed to save himself ,no witness .
To believe that Alex did NOT commit these murders, you'd have to believe either a) the killer coincidentally showed up a moment after Alex left - assuming he was there up to the minute according to his recorded voice, or b) the killer was lying in wait, in which case he wouldn't have known Alex was going to leave at all, so why wouldn't the killer just kill three people instead of two?
Good point
I think he did it, but to your question… this could have been revenge to kill Paul for perceived killing of Mallory, taking Alex’s beloved son as they had lost their daughter and also taking his wife since she was there, and doing it as soon as they saw him leave, knowing he would be traumatized finding them and also be accused. Alex has soooooooo many people who are angry at him. Man has made some serious enemies. Another possibility is that someone came there and attacked them, leaving just Alex there and made him hold the weapons and such so he would be blamed. Maybe exposing these people will also cause further harm to come to his family so he just did his best to fight it. I think Alex needed two guns because he knew he wouldn’t have time to reload the shotgun. He also knew Maggie would possibly be running away and he would need the AR style for distance accuracy. Unfortunately, she was in flip flops and didn’t get away. Alex is really good at crying when he wants and pretty good at lying. Once in a while I see him distracted trying to evaluate the jury. He is really emotional or at least knows how to show varied expressions readily. I find it pretty fascinating. I think he is a really deceptive psychopath and I wonder where all his money really went. Maybe it was the 2008 real estate crash that got him plus the drugs.
@@hollymeredith4148if some random person shot them, why would they not kill him as well? If he’s trying to say they were killed because of the boat death , then it makes more sense they’d take out to the whole family. Obviously he did it.
