  • The Murdaugh murders case shed light on another homicide that took place in South Carolina in 2015. Nineteen-year-old Stephen Smith was found dead in the middle of the road in Hampton County. Investigators recently ruled Stephen’s death a homicide. Prior to this ruling, internet rumors about Buster Murdaugh and his family’s unfounded involvement in Stephen’s death spread. The surviving Murdaugh recently broke his silence and publicly denounced the claims, stating the media has been issuing “defamatory” statements about him. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber and Sidebar host Angenette Levy discuss the potential for a defamation case with attorney Benjamin Chew, a partner at the Brown Rudnick law firm and the lead attorney who represented Johnny Depp in his high-profile defamation trial against Amber Heard.

Buster isn't helping himself by protesting too strongly. The law school cheater is trying to throw around a legal term that doesn't apply, at least not in the article that was referenced. I hope the mom gets answers, and is not being given false hope. I can't fathom her pain of losing a child and not having answers. Any child loss is awful, but homicide adds insult to injury.

The one thing that sticks out in my mind, as far as the theory that he was killed elsewhere, is the fact that he was basically dumped right outside of the Murdaugh property. One would think that if the Murdaugh's were somehow involved that the LAST THING they would want is any more than necessary scrutiny. With that line of thinking one would think they would have taken the body at least a few miles away from their own property before dumping it on the side of the road. That just doesn't add up to me.

But today was the first day I had this thought: I hope Buster is getting some good therapy and support for the godawful mess his family has left him in. Think about it. So many major losses. And now these accusations that may or may not be true. He had better be getting help right now, as no one can stand up under this much stress. He needs to be able to face whatever will be coming at him in the near future. (I'm not on his "side", just stating that he needs support to face what's coming next)

Now, his mother indicated some time ago that Stephen told her that a rich VIP man gave him the cell phone and he could not give her this man's name. Buster and Stephen were in high school together. Stephen was assigned to tutor Buster on some subject, I don't remember which subject. Hence, Buster and Stephen would have been together because of that. Buster in high school could not be considered a man, a VIP, nor would he able to buy Stephen a cell phone. When the homicide happened, Stephen was in nursing school and Buster in college. But, where was Alex? Did SLED find among Alex's things something to reopen the case? Alex, we now hear had a lady attorney girlfriend when the murders happened. Also, it has now come out that Alex hired escort services, and, we wonder were they strictly ladies, or could a beautiful blonde blue eyed gorgeous young boy also be included? Who was going to take Stephen fishing that weekend? Buster from college? Hardly think so. Sounds more like that rich VIP Stephen told his mother about. Oh, yes, Alex did have a boat, private islands, and the nine yards. Well, maybe the housekeeper isn't the only other murder Alex might have committed -- did he kill more people? Cousin Eddie claims Alex called him 9/4 and was going to kill him -- I kinda believe Cousin Eddy as Alex's two stories so far just don't make sense. Maybe his third ard/or fourth will do better.

(EDIT: I know they are rumors, I'm just agreeing that irresponsible content creators have pushed this narrative with no proof)
I have seen in videos prior to Alex even being arrested there were rumors about a possible relationship between Buster and Stephen. I just hope that Stephen gets the justice he deserves.I think his mom is right that he was beaten to death and then left in the road like discarded trash. I wish the authorities had listened from the beginning that it was not a hit and run!

He's being used as a puppet still by his father. That go to law school Study bs is just that. I hope buster says he found joy packing groceries and had spoken to sandy. I hope he didn't do it. I truly pray he didn't. I hope they were friends. I could easier see Paul doing this or Alex the monster himself doing it. I'd like to believe there's one Murdaugh with clean hands Time will tell. I want justice for Stephen and Sandy ...I want buster to grow a pair and reach out and talk to that woman and help her heal and find the truth. The more he stays shut the more guilty he looks tho Rest easy Stephen the truth is coming 💔

@@melvicci Apparently he got kicked out of law school for cheating and Daddy pressured the school with lawyers into letting him back in spending $60k to do it. That wasn’t enough for those entitled two though disgustingly they further were pressuring the school into letting him redo his first year law semester so that his bad grades get wiped out and don’t affect his cumulative gpa. The school wanted him to pick up with the spring semester and not redo and get the clean slate. In essence he’d be in a better position after getting kicked out for dishonesty and re-admitted with a clean slate. Buster is concerned that he will now need good grades because he’s not guaranteed the job with Daddy’s firm and gasp may actually have to compete with good grades at another firm. The whole thing is in recorded jailhouse phone conversations between father and son. You can find it on RUclips.

I'm very surprised that Netflix were allowed to show the mini series during the trial.
Here in New Zealand you are not permitted to discuss a a trial in the media if it's before the court. That includes radio.

And this case is certainly not good for their business because everyone in the country can see how bad they are
