As for memory at that time, I wasn’t even sure if I had property insurance…just homeless with no income or potential of income. No money and looking for a a crappy rental that would accept me and 6 rescue pets.

Can you imagine Maggie knew all his evil ways! She & Paul were close. They knew Alex would leave the family. Look at the family photos. Buster is near Alex. Paul was always near Maggie in all the pictures! Sure Blanca found pills in Alex clothes pockets at occasions. Probably she heard some of Alex's phone conversations knowing they were shady! It's not like the family woke up as a surprise! Both Father & brothers tried to fix Alex for years! Pandora's box finally opened!!
It's too bad he can't, because he's an attorney, say "Do you mean the same man who was accused of using his shrimp boat to smuggle drugs? - but managed to wiggle out of legal trouble?"
The Barrett story told more than he intended.
He makes it clear he thinks omission isn't lying.
According to his story he ended up paying a bigger share on a real estate deal back in '08 or '09 so that justifies keeping ALL of the settlement owed to a man dying of cancer. A man who asked for help because he needed money for a motel so his wife could stay close by.
He seemed pretty self satisfied about it. Almost gleeful.
No stammering then. He even sat up straighter.
The fact that he thought it excused his theft, like being so petty was some type of justice -
It shows he's not just heartless but actively SPITEFUL.

In fact, if I heard right didnt the dogs have shock collars? Not just to keep them on the propety, but also out of the house.
He stole millions of dollars from his law firm and it wasn’t detected for 9 years? It sounds like someone wasn’t doing their job.
After hearing what the top accountant said…I think it is very easy to steal money in law firms because of the massive amount of millions they bring in.
Or every other lawyer does the same thing.
She wasn’t properly doing her job.
It’s generational privilege at play, his family have basically been the law in that county for over 80 years and nobody would be game enough to stand up to them. All of his lies only came undone once an outside agency got involved, don’t be surprised if more comes out in the future.
You’d be surprised, I work in insolvency, we had a bankrupt guy, financial controller who stole millions from his employer over circa 8 years before he got reckless and was caught.

New to case me to. It really bothered me when he was talking about Paul. He had mentioned in his jail calls about the net fix series. He spends that time talking about Paul giving life advice to friends because it was in that series when Paul gives ridiculous advice. That’s your last thoughts on your son. The whole testimony was so unreal all about things that could be directly shown on data. Not a true event you are describing. The jury wanted a real person not a lawyer . The most hillariois thing in whole case is after he learns Maggie phone found and comes up with story of her coming up to house and a cat fleeing the scene with the phone to explain the data.

When the judge handed down his sentence Alex Murdaugh stopped talking. The deceit, the depravity. Then he left the courtroom in silence. Thank God.
He started right back up again during the victims impact statements part. He talked for over 1.5 hours "concerned that his victims 'know' he cares about them and feels their pain. It was ALL about him assuaging his own guilt but the audience LET HIM do it!! Only one person walked out!! That tells us a lot about people, too.
It's interesting how he admitted he loved and cared about his clients that he manipulated, lied to and, hurt. Admitting he has the capability to put his feelings aside and do whatever he thinks is best for Alex.
Yes, he’s completely oblivious to the fact that we can all see him for the swindler he is. He’s not fooling anyone but himself.
Not once did this dude apologize to all the people he stole money from, and not once did he say on the stand, I want to find who's responsible for killing my wife and son and put them behind bars where they belong.
He really thought he could talk his way into a not guilty verdict.

The fact that he clearly struggles throughout this cross-examination indicates his guilt. An innocent man's truthful testimony would have flowed flawlessly, yet this is actually painful to watch because he is a guilty man consciously trying to cover his tracks.

I don`t think it`s painful to watch ..... I enjoyed his pain at trying to squirm out of his guilt and failing miserably. He stole the money awarded to a crash victim who was left a quadriplegic .... it`s hard to get lower than that.

He said he was on the phone with 911 while checking Paul, but 911 starts recording before anyone answers...he wasn't making a sound...you could hear dogs barking in the background, then as soon as the 911 operator answers he starts making crying sounds...I wonder why this wasn't mentioned in court.

It was said that a staff person overheard him saying it at the hospital when Alex was visiting him. Because he had caused the family a lot of money and trouble. He was the reason Alex was being sued for all that money. Had he lived they would have taken him for almost everything. By him dying the cases were closed and they were no loner be sued. I believe it was mentioned in one of the documentaries that he had said this more than once years ago.

My dad passed away in May 19th 2018 my husband received a call from my grandmother at around 12pm. He came back in told me my father had passed away suddenly from a unexpected heart attack. The last time I talked to my father was May 17th at 2am he had just gotten back home from the local bar and I remember almost every word of our conversation, not knowing it would be the last time I talked to him. I can recite our text messages from the week before he died so no I do not believe him. Was it because I kept playing those things over in my head repeatedly trying to figure out if I had missed something or because it was all I had left was our words, probably both. So no I do not believe he doesn’t remember what his last words were to his wife and son. What bullshit.
You know and I am sorry for your loss. This guy should have gone crazy. Been running around looking for whoever did it if it wasn't him. He is toast.
@@TR-IRL thank you, and yes I mean I was trying to find someone to blame for my dads death just because I wanted/needed a reason to understand why it had to be someone’s fault I was a emotional wreck for months because of it being so unexpected. If I really thought my dad killed my mom and brother I would try to kill him or interrogate him to find out if he did it. Why was Maggie’s sister still having friendly contact with Alex after this how? Usually family members in situations like this usually go straight to the spouse I’ve watched alot of 48 hours and dateline to know. How is there not any anger or speculation within the family.

On March the 11th it will be 34 years my dad died and I can still remember what time it was and what the weather was like and most of all our last conversation.
My dad passed away may 30,2012 & to this day I remember our last conversation the night before he passed away

The conviction surprised me - UNTIL I saw his full testimony. OMG the lies. The guy cant answer anything straight. He is a pathological liar, a narcissist and a depraved human being for killing his loved ones.
If he think he was smarter than everyone else and not take the stand he may have beat this case. At first i thought he wasn't guilty because everyone said his marriage was great and he spoiled his kids. He told Walters yeah the video was taken after he had arrived and when he arrived, Paul was playing with Cash in the driveway. But in the video, Cash had been locked up in the kennel and Paul was trying to open the kennel gate.
When he was asked whether he noticed the dogs were sensing that somebody else they didn't know was around, he was adamant that the no one else was around but the three of them. He should have said yes to that!!! But he said no multiple times. OMG He and his team are probably trying to pin it on Paul by making out like Paul killed his mum and took his own life :(

I loved when the judge said to Alex or Als Al, " maybe you didn't do it... the monster you became did it" ( something like that). For a brief second or two Alex..Als Al, thought the judge wasn't sure he did it. Until the judge finished his sentence and added the monster you became did it.

Similarly there was a moment just before the judge finished saying "Alex, Als, Al, maybe you didn't do it..... the monster you became did it" where I thought the judge was going to say he didn't do it, but then by the time he finished his sentence, the one where he said "Alex, Als or Al, maybe you didn't do it" and then "....the MONSTER you became did it", that's the moment I realised that the judge wasn't saying maybe he didn't do it, he was saying he DID do it, but not as himself, as the monster.
