Milo's burgers used to be good, not any more. Today their chicken tenders are much better than their burgers. Their burger meat is fairly tough and grainy, it takes some work to get through one. But it wasn't always like this, back in the 80s when I moved back to Birmingham from Houston they had only one restaurant. I am thinking it was on 10th Avenue North just north of the downtown area. That was a great burger and there is no way you could duplicate that sauce. The sauce today is nothing like what they had prior to 2000 I think the best chain here now is Tazikis. It is a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for right ?

Pickle Barrel is great ! But Jersey Mike's is giving them a run for their money!! When I was a kid , Pickel Barrel sandwiches were huge ! The used a whole loaf of French bread and almost a pound of meat and cheese ! Now the are half that size or less ! EVER since the exodus up here, a lot of the local places sold out and left ! Harold's is not even a top 20 chain in Illinois. Most Harold's have closed down, and the ones that didn't are never that busy. Portillos is easy the top chain in Illinois. Go to any one of Portillos restaurants, during any time, and it is always jammed packed.
I'd take Popeye"s over Harold's any day. Portillo's is where it's at for Illinois. We had a Harold's in Rockford for a few months. Went there once. They said we'd have to wait 25 minutes to get our food. Safe to say they ain't open anymore. Viva Portillo's!
I KNEW Texas was gonna be Whataburger!! Yay!! About 5 years ago, I decided to stop eating red meat. But once a month, I treat myself to a Whataburger with cheese and jalapenos! SO delicious!! There's no way I could ever stop eating Whataburger! (My colleagues eat Whataburger at least twice a week, which makes it even more tempting!)
I love Culver's. They are consistent with the quality of food and guest service. I've never had a bad meal there, everything is always hot and fresh. The custard is super good too!

Ask anyone from Tucson and they will tell you Eegees is the best chain in the state. They are mainly in Tucson with a few in phoenix, and their frozen eegees which are a frozen drink similar to a icee are to die for. Their orignal grinder sandwich and ranch fries are the bomb too

More of a Seattle thing, but Ivars is the best food chain I can think of coming from Washington. Great clam chowder and consistency with fish dishes like halibut and salmon!
We need Taco John’s in Arizona… There’s so much good authentic Mexican food here, but sometimes I crave some unapologetically NON-authentic Mexican food too… Our only options for that are Taco Bell or Del Taco Moe’s Southwest Grill is another tasty faux Mexican chain I’ve tried outside of AZ

Braum's is disgusting!!! I worked there. The kitchen pre-makes the burgers and chicken and keeps them in metal lexans under heat lamps for the Speed of Service. Quality is NOT on the top of the list on hot food. The ice cream bought in the Fresh Market is often frost-bitten. My boyfriend was a cook, I was Fresh Market and Kitchen, and both of us coming from California were overwhelmed how much we missed In-And-Out. Maybe we are jaded by good fast food and good fresh markets...
If you find yourself in Utah (sorry 😉), skip Arctic Circle, Crown Burger is the place to go. Seriously nothing like it, except the family members that broke off, to create Astro Burger, or Olympus Burger, all excellent, pretty much the same menu.

I've lived in Michigan virtually my entire life and I have never even heard of Big John's Steak and Onion. I'll keep my eye out for one and give it a try. Upon Googling them, I found that they are all in the Flint / Central Michigan area, hence why I have never heard of them. Hardly the best chain restaurant chain if it's only available in a limited local.
Lion's Choice is what Arby's use to be when the latter first started out decades back. A genuinely decent and flavorful roast beef sandwich, using actual roast beef. God only knows what makes up Arby's current version.

I agree 100% that Tudors Biscuit world is the best chain in WV. I'm from NC, and I wish we had Tudors. Bojangles would have some issues here if Tudors was around. Outside of homemade, Tudors has the best biscuits and gravy I've ever eaten at a restaurant.

Joe’s Kansas City used to be called Oklahoma Joe’s (despite being in Kansas). In Those days, there was one location which Anthony Bourdain listed as one of 14 place you must eat at before you die. I highly recommend it.
Sorry, I was not impressed with IN & OUT Burgers. I tried them several times. Most of all, the wait staff do not seem to listen to their customers' requests. I tried IN & OUT Burgers no less than 4 times and was not imprressed with the quality or lack of that, which I cannot understand as the reviews are always stellar. Possilby may be me. Like I have said, a four time try out and each time the servers did not listen to my orders. Most dissapointing.

With regard to Missouri's Lion's Choice Roast Beef, it should be pointed out that an Arby's comparison is hardly fair. Lion's Choice slices from a fresh beef roast. The sandwich is high-quality and delicious and horseradish is an available condiment. Yummy and top-shelf. Arby's? Well...the "roast beef" comes in a large, see-through plastic bag within which can be seen pink goo about the consistency of sloppy Play Doh and occasional chunks of what look like actual beef. The roast is about a foot long and maybe six inches high. When cooked (older stores used pizza ovens while newer location sometimes use convection ovens) this blob browns nicely and takes on the perfect appearance of beef, particularly once sliced. I prefer Arby's over Lion's Choice partly out of loyalty because I was once part of a management team for a small St. Louis franchise. If we had any competition, it was Rax Roast Beef (now long forgotten). Lion's Choice was way out of our league and is still considered a kind of hybrid gourmet fast food. Also, this video is fascinating.

Lions choice is a mixed bag I have gone 3 times the first time I went it was the best roast beef sandwich I have ever had and I cooked roast beef on a food truck now the next 2 times hasn't been good but that first time is what I tell people about lol

I don't know where mashed got their picture but that is NOT a Blake's burger in New Mexico. They should have chose Dion's for New Mexico. Some of the Blake's locations are still good, but they sold out to a family from Texas a few years ago and it's not as good as it used to be.
Sorry, but this obsession with the Ohio chili chains is vastly overrated. I've tried Skyline and it is terrible; not the chain per say, but the actual product, especially on spaghetti. The Ohio chain that gets my vote as the best that originated in the state is Piada Italian Street Food. This unique chain specializes in pastas, salads and the piada, which is like an Italian burrito. There are about 40 locations, mostly in Ohio, but also in Texas, Pennsylvania & Minnesota.
Whataburger was once very good. But, since they changed from cooking the burgers fresh to-order to pre-cooked, they've been a disaster. Can't stand cold hamburgers.

Bobby Q was a really bad choice. 2 locations does not constitute a chain. Eegees or Federico’s would have both been great choices.

Rush's drive thru line is always crazy long. Good food so waiting is worth it.

How is Coney Island or Buddy’s Pizza not labeled as the best restaurant chain in MI? Coney Island because of the coney dogs and Buddy’s Pizza because of its well known, and delicious Detroit style pizza.

As someone who has lived in multiple different spots in Iowa for the last 10 years.... No one has ever told me about maid rite.. the only people who bring it up are the ones in these videos, not to mention I've only seen like 2, on the opposite side of the state

With regard to Missouri's Lion's Choice Roast Beef, it should be pointed out that an Arby's comparison is hardly fair. Lion's Choice slices from a fresh beef roast. The sandwich is high-quality and delicious and horseradish is an available condiment. Yummy and top-shelf. Arby's? Well...the "roast beef" comes in a large, see-through plastic bag within which can be seen pink goo about the consistency of sloppy Play Doh and occasional chunks of what look like actual beef. The roast is about a foot long and maybe six inches high. When cooked (older stores used pizza ovens while newer location sometimes use convection ovens) this blob browns nicely and takes on the perfect appearance of beef, particularly once sliced. I prefer Arby's over Lion's Choice partly out of loyalty because I was once part of a management team for a small St. Louis franchise. If we had any competition, it was Rax Roast Beef (now long forgotten). Lion's Choice was way out of our league and is still considered a kind of hybrid gourmet fast food. Also, this video is fascinating.
Made rite in Davenport IA doesn't hardly give you a very big sandwich like they used to and hardly any meat either 😅
I preferred Ross's in Davenport, when I lived in Illinois on the Mississippi river I would cross the bridge just for the magic mountain or volcano

I have lived in Indiana for 46 years, and have never heard of Schoop's Hamburgers. I did a search for them and there in a small area of Indiana near chicago.
There was a Schoops in Warsaw. I think it’s still there, only location I know if. I’ve never been there myself

I'm thrilled to see Pal's from up here in our little corner of TN..... it's definitely fast food done right...always good, always friendly, and always clean..... although, I would gladly trade a Pal's to TX for a Whataburger lol
Lions choice is a mixed bag I have gone 3 times the first time I went it was the best roast beef sandwich I have ever had and I cooked roast beef on a food truck now the next 2 times hasn't been good but that first time is what I tell people about lol
Blake's in NM is absolutely the best! I've tried to replicate it on the grill with the best green chile I could find, but can't do it. Their fries are the best too. Sidenote: Can anyone tell me where I can get a corn dog that tastes anything like a Disneyland corn dog? I buy a season pass just so I can walk in and get a corn dog there.

As far as Wayback Burgers goes in De. it was originally called Jake's and the original one was not on main street in Newark. It was in a crappy little building on Ogletown road. The last time I noticed someone was selling cheap paint out of that building..

I don't know where mashed got their picture but that is NOT a Blake's burger in New Mexico. They should have chose Dion's for New Mexico. Some of the Blake's locations are still good, but they sold out to a family from Texas a few years ago and it's not as good as it used to be.

Sorry, but this obsession with the Ohio chili chains is vastly overrated. I've tried Skyline and it is terrible; not the chain per say, but the actual product, especially on spaghetti.
The Ohio chain that gets my vote as the best that originated in the state is Piada Italian Street Food. This unique chain specializes in pastas, salads and the piada, which is like an Italian burrito. There are about 40 locations, mostly in Ohio, but also in Texas, Pennsylvania & Minnesota.

Whataburger was once very good. But, since they changed from cooking the burgers fresh to-order to pre-cooked, they've been a disaster. Can't stand cold hamburgers.
