Granted it's a gas station but it has a fast food joint inside the station and the food to my recollection is made to order and is not 'gas station grade' but actually it's very good.
Iowan here, Maid-Rite's are fine but not our state sandwich lol. Not anymore anyways as there are barely any stores around the state. I'd say we're more into pork tenderloins these days.
I live about 15 miles from Iowa (Illinois) and I agree. Maid Rite is decent but nowhere near epic. And as for Illinois, we had. Beef A Roo nearby, and I feel the same about that.
Calling it filibertos and not los betos, and not having heard of eegees... you're in Phoenix and never been to Tucson. Eegees is solely in Tucson. They tried a Phoenix market when they moved the commissary/baker to a bigger facility but it did not last long. Maybe a year Additionally, I so miss a eegees original grinder and a los betos carne asada quesadilla w/ pico
Delaware's Casapulla's Italian w/ Prosciutto is a true work of art....But in the early 2000's cousinc of original owners started their own shops....Judge ruled its a family name and cant be trademarked as such so now its confusing lol....old timers know the original on a side street in Elsmere is tops....That smell of a small old timey Italian market is an experience in itself
Agreed, having lived in quite a few states Casapullas is special. They have gone down hill in the last decade. Did not know about the history with the cousin. Thanks for sharing!
"Milos sweet tea is also popular." And Starbucks also sells coffee... Milos Tea makes more than the restaurants do. You can buy it here in Alabama by the gallon. Its a staple here. It has it's own section at the grocery store.
West Virginia has a ton of regional chains but Tudor's Biscuit World is by far the best. Other chains that were founded in WV are Gino's Pizza & Spaghetti House and Shoney's. Some other regional chains on this list started making their way here. Cook Out and Jersey Mike's being the most notable.
Milo's is the best local chain but much harder to find than another Alabama chain, which has started to spread to surrounding states, Jack's. There are over 200 Jack's locations.
I'd never had Milos until my wife and I went while we were dating. I love that they mentioned the sweet tea in passing. I mean Milos tea is what most people think of. We went to Tennessee on our honeymoon. No Milos up there. Got a jug of what I thought was something close to it. I had to call poison control. Bad times... lol.
@@alabamaguns3684 I am guessing you went to the Smokies for your honeymoon. I know you can get Milo's in Chattanooga but not sure about anything further north.
Get the brisket at 4 Rivers in Florida. Just as good as Texas brisket. Btw, burnt ends are just the pieces of brisket that break off from carving the full brisket. Waste not, want not...and, make sure you get something from the fresh made bakery, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies..
Pal’s is limited to Northeast TN and SOUTHwest Virginia. The furthest “north” they go is like, Abingdon. And I love Pal’s with my whole NETN heart but they are only in the Tri-Cities area of Kingsport, Johnson City, and Bristol along with a VERY small handful within an hour of that specific region.
I've lived in a few states and I've been to a lot more. I am absolutely convinced that nothing could ever beat Runza in Nebraska. Their burgers and onion rings are absolutely amazing and their fries are great too. The original Runza sandwich is good but it's nothing compared to their regular burgers.
I must say as I watched all the other states I wondered what chain would represent NY, yes Golden Crust jerk chicken is always good. The 1st restaurant started in my neighborhood in the North East Bronx. I now live north of the Bronx and not far from CT and have seen the Duchess restaurant and wondered what it was about. I will have to give them a try now.
How did you put Elevation Burger for Virginia when Five Guys is from Va?! Five guys. Everybody knows five guys. I’m born & raised here & ive never even heard of elevation burger. Y’all wild
Yeah, even as a transplant to Virginia from Nebraska, I was surprised to see Elevation and not Five Guys. Five Guys has locations all around the state and Elevation... like Arlington it looks like... So basically 95% of the state is nowhere near an Elevation location
No one beleives me when I tell them about the white bread and bbq sauce appetizer. Went to the one in a neighborhood outside of Tuscaloosa. Great food.
I LOVE Cookout. I go every time I’m back home in North Carolina. The Cookout style hotdog is how I’ve been eating hotdogs my whole life. Made perfectly. 🤤 Living in North Texas, Braum’s has become my favorite ice cream place. I love that being a neighbor to Oklahoma affords me the opportunity to have great, inexpensive ice cream. And, you can’t forget the always fresh Whataburger. 😋
I grew up getting my submarine sandwiches from Casapulla’s in Delaware ❤️💯🥪. Great service in all of their locations and their staff are like very welcoming and like family. I usually go to the both the Elsmere and North Wilmington locations. Their Turkey and Italian sub sandwiches are always FRESH and DELICIOUS ❤️🤤😋.
For once you got things right, I used to live in Iowa and got Ross's (maid-rite style burgers) once a month but Ross's had 2 things better than maid-rite, the magic mountain (Texas toast, fries, beef all smothered in cheese) and the volcano (the magic mountain smothered with chili and jalapeno). I now live in NW Indiana and go to schoops regularly and the burgers are awesome but what you didn't mention is their breakfast cuz their biscuits and gravy are amazing and the pancakes are perfect (the only one that can make proper pancakes with crispy edges and they have a strong vanilla flavor) 😋👍
@@connornull6902 I used to live in Davenport and we didn't have maid rite restaurants per say but Ross's were the biggest restaurant in the city and I have the fondest memories of when I would go there with my family and friends after church
@@MsTwiththeTea1980 friends and family said I should do that because of my culinary background. I can make anything, I get orders for food because I make what everyone described as the best BBQ, pizza, soups, stir-fry (have a wok) and tex-mex. When I renovated my house before I moved in I installed a professional 8 burner double oven (the type used in restaurants) I don't play around when it comes to cooking and food
Gifford's Ice Cream is wonderful it is truly a Maine desert Even though it's only available at the stands during ice cream season it is also available at grocery stores up here year round and one of the new flavors is cannoli which I can tell you is a really good ice cream flavor if you like cannolis
As usual, I would hope people would have heard of something outside of the St. Louis area. I did appreciate the Kansas City barbeque recommendation on that video.
As a lifelong Californian I love both the habit and in and out, I think habit has better fries and sides while the burger at in and out might be a bit superior. Here in Los Angeles we have hiho and eureka which might be my favorite burger chains, but both of them are a bit on the pricer side.
National Coney Island coney dogs are THE BEST!! When I started eating at National the menu was coney dogs, loose coneys, fries, sodas, and pie. Now they have a complete menu filled with great omelettes, sandwiches like the Hani and Greek Gyro, Burgers, the Greek salad, lemon rice soup, desserts, and much more. National's chili is AMAZING!
That's the thing I love about Michigan: it seems so many restaurants up there serve everything, including Greek food, and they do it pretty well. I know of no other state where one can wander into a random diner and find a menu 6 pages thick with everything from burritos to Greek soup to omelets to full turkey dinners.
North Carolina, it's Cookout hands down! You never walk away hungry. For $6 you get a combo with a 1/4 lb. burger, 2 very filling quesadillas and a drink (refillable), and for an extra dollar you can sub out the drink for a milkshake. Their milkshakes just blow away McDs or ChickFilAs, thick and full of actual fruit rather than flavoring. Impossible to walk away hungry. McDs, BK, Wendys, ChickfilA are not even in the same conversation.
@@Missclassy81 What do you think about Bojangles? It's good chicken, but I can buy 8 pieces of excellent fried chicken from Harris Teeter for $5, so why would I spend 8 dollars for a combo at Bojangles. What do you think?
@@GeraldM_inNC Well, Harris Teeter doesn't have a drive through, so there's that. I like Bojangles, but I much prefer off-the-bone chicken (I'm lazy). Yes, I know they have strips too, but I prefer Raising Cane's for my chicken fix. I just wish they had a wider variety of sides. Zaxby's takes second place, although their quality has been going downhill recently.
We always enjoy Penguin Point in northern Indiana. They're a small regional chain in Plymouth, Warsaw, and Fort Bend IIRC, but they've got good food... their Big Wally tenderloin-n-slaw sandwich and fried chicken is terrific. At least before the pandemic, they had regional seasonal favorites like blueberry tea and blueberry fried pies, in addition to their usual selection of fried pies, which are extremely tasty. Later! OL J R :)
From someone who has grown up in Hawaii, I already knew Zippy's was going to be on the list for us. Most of us have worked there or know people who has worked there. Every party that I have gone too as a kid to adult, someone always brings something from Zippy's becauses its on the way 😂

Granted it's a gas station but it has a fast food joint inside the station and the food to my recollection is made to order and is not 'gas station grade' but actually it's very good.
Sheetz is pretty F’ing good.
Both suck. People in pa are pale fat slobs who want everything slathered in ketchup and who think taco bell is exotic
I used to work at a Wawa in VA, I prefer the food at Sheetz but Wawa mto drinks are better
Also forgot to mention for Boise fry company they have a option for fries fried in duck fat
Some of these look so good!!!!!
from arizona and never heard of eegees. Filibertos reigns supreme.
Calling it filibertos and not los betos, and not having heard of eegees... you're in Phoenix and never been to Tucson. Eegees is solely in Tucson. They tried a Phoenix market when they moved the commissary/baker to a bigger facility but it did not last long. Maybe a year
Additionally, I so miss a eegees original grinder and a los betos carne asada quesadilla w/ pico
South Carolina should’ve been skins hotdogs. And Missouri should’ve been sugarfire bbq.
Good to see Pal's on here, it's why I clicked on the video: to see if Pal's was on here. 😋
How is 4 rivers the Florida place? I’ve been in Florida for 30 years and never heard of it
I waited for TX only to call Whataburger. Lol! How did I know?! My favorite is the breakfast there.
lol that is funny
I believe we only have one Runza in Colorado in Loveland I wish we had more my husband and I tried it in Nebraska and we just love them
I love Eegees!! (Arizona). I live in Utah now so I haven't been there in so long! The pina colada slushie is the yummiest!
"Milos sweet tea is also popular." And Starbucks also sells coffee... Milos Tea makes more than the restaurants do. You can buy it here in Alabama by the gallon. Its a staple here. It has it's own section at the grocery store.
Same I buy Milo’s tea all the time in New Mexico didn’t know they were a food chain lol
Pretty sure Milo's tea is nationwide, they have a deal with Walmart. If there's a Walmart, there's Milo's!
Amazing video review
Yep. We went to Gatlinburg. Went to pigeon forge on our 2nd anniversary. I'm ready to go back.
“Experimented on locals to perfect his special sauce” 😂😂
Tudor's biscuits are amazing. A must if you're in West Virginia in the morning. Warning, though: they are big and they sit heavy
Yes! Used to go to one of their KY locations when I lived there. Still miss it.
this is the third comment i have seen for Tudor's biscuit. I definitely need to try this place out.
I've lived in a few states and I've been to a lot more. I am absolutely convinced that nothing could ever beat Runza in Nebraska. Their burgers and onion rings are absolutely amazing and their fries are great too. The original Runza sandwich is good but it's nothing compared to their regular burgers.
as a Nebraska transplant to North Dakota, burger time is not what the locals crack it up to be
I must say as I watched all the other states I wondered what chain would represent NY, yes Golden Crust jerk chicken is always good. The 1st restaurant started in my neighborhood in the North East Bronx. I now live north of the Bronx and not far from CT and have seen the Duchess restaurant and wondered what it was about. I will have to give them a try now.
i am heading backto NY and Golden Crust Jerk Chicken is definitely on my food review list.
I live in Connecticut, never heard of Duchess
How did you put Elevation Burger for Virginia when Five Guys is from Va?!
Five guys. Everybody knows five guys. I’m born & raised here & ive never even heard of elevation burger.
Y’all wild
Yeah, even as a transplant to Virginia from Nebraska, I was surprised to see Elevation and not Five Guys. Five Guys has locations all around the state and Elevation... like Arlington it looks like... So basically 95% of the state is nowhere near an Elevation location
This is regional food chains. Not national. Five guys sucks anyway
@@blind_aviator lol okay?
20:00 eastern Tennessee and southwest Virginia
Dreamland Alabama/Georgia/Florida 11 locations. The best ribs you’ll ever have with two pieces of Wonder Bread on the side! Since 1958
64 years
No one beleives me when I tell them about the white bread and bbq sauce appetizer. Went to the one in a neighborhood outside of Tuscaloosa. Great food.
I've heard about Dreamland BBQ, but never knew they had locations in GA. Gonna need to look that up.
22:50 Taco time is all over Washington and into Oregon. Not just ''around Seattle''
I would try beef a Roos but ain’t nobody going to Rockford. Illinois is either portillos ( I prefer buona beef) or loumanits.
What a buger is kinda regional, many in az. I'll will say I'm darn impressed eegees made the list, I so miss me an original grinder
I LOVE Cookout. I go every time I’m back home in North Carolina. The Cookout style hotdog is how I’ve been eating hotdogs my whole life. Made perfectly. 🤤
Living in North Texas, Braum’s has become my favorite ice cream place.
This place sounds so delicious. i love me a good italian sub sandwich.
1:15 My favorite.
I ❤️ Eegee's
When in Tennessee, you gotta try Gus’ Fried Chicken! OMG!!!
Well except the maid rite they showed is not actually in Iowa
@@connornull6902 I used to live in Davenport and we didn't have maid rite restaurants per say but Ross's were the biggest restaurant in the city and I have the fondest memories of when I would go there with my family and friends after church
hello neighbor, i am a food reviewer in indiana. i will definitely try schoops. thank you for the advice.
@@hellhound1389 oh that sounds wonderful. I bet your food is delicious 😋
Gifford's Ice Cream is wonderful it is truly a Maine desert Even though it's only available at the stands during ice cream season it is also available at grocery stores up here year round and one of the new flavors is cannoli which I can tell you is a really good ice cream flavor if you like cannolis
Chaps Pitbeef in Baltimore is Awesome!😊
As usual, I would hope people would have heard of something outside of the St. Louis area. I did appreciate the Kansas City barbeque recommendation on that video.
Why would anyone go to “fast food” in KC?
BTW, strong possibility I’m back in KC in May, so wondering what newer BBQ joints are worth a visit.
I’m originally from San Diego and I think in n out is the spot to go. Now I live in southern Arizona and we LOVE eegees
i want to try eegees. i looks so good
Mashed! Never change the background music!
I really liked Burger Carte in WV. Not sure if they were regional or national or even a chain at all but it was the only place
I've ever seen one.
Colorado: Good Times is definitely a good representation but we also have Chipotle and Noodles & Company and that’s where I went first with this video
Yes 👍 im from north carolina myself
We have Cookout in KY now, but I can't seem to talk them into opening in Louisville. The closest to us is Frankfort. Their milkshake menu is insane.
Yes When I travel to other states or even countries I like getting food that I can’t get at home
Later! OL J R :)
In NYS, I would give it to Ted's Fish Fry centered in the Albany area . .. . .
Makes me so happy to see 4Rivers make this list. I’ve been going there since it was one tiny shop back in 2009, some of the best BBQ
looks very good
From someone who has grown up in Hawaii, I already knew Zippy's was going to be on the list for us. Most of us have worked there or know people who has worked there. I worked as a cook at one of their locations 10 years ago. Its a good go to for any occassion or to pick up food for parties with trays of different food. Every party that I have gone too as a kid to adult, someone always brings something from Zippy's becauses its on the way 😂
What ever happened to one of my favorites, Morrison cafeteria?
