I worked at McDonald’s in the summer of 1979. At my location, I was the first employee to grill the Chopped Beefsteak Sandwiches. I thought it was funny that the patties had lines pressed into them to create the appearance of grill marks after they were cooked on a flat grill. I had to be gentle when searing the patties as too much pressure would flatten out the “grill marks”. I believe that different meat was used for these as the texture and taste was much different than the hamburgers. During that summer, I didn’t have much of an appetite for any McDonald’s food but thinking about it now, I sure would love to have one of those steak sandwiches again.

8:48 fun fact… the Guantanamo Bay McDonald’s still serves Mighty Wings
As a torture method or an actual food item?
2:11 The "All American" in that ad is pure genius, that meal should be on the menu!
What about the Shamrock Shake?
That’s what I’m talking about, it actually did come back briefly, but it wasn’t as good as the one back in the late 70s
The shamrock shake is available every March here?
There's a debate whether the og Shamrock Shake was pistachio or mint. I remember pistachio in the mid-'70s yummm
I love the old boxes , I would clean then up and make space ships out of them and have my GI joe action figures ride around in them , I was a creative kid..
The McDLT was all that ever really mattered in fast food. And they took it from me. 😥
The Arch Deluxe was so good. I still think about it all the time.
Need all day breakfast to return!
Come to Canada where it still lives on.
Sadly, there was no mention that McDonald’s sold fried chicken for a brief period in the 1960’s.
The 1980s had my favorite menu items! 😋
Bring back the McD.L.T. and please make McRibs year round!
I miss the angus burgers 😢
Too dry
The launch of the Big Mac was my favorite. I was around 5 years old but remember it vividly. Still love it today!
I miss the chicken snack wraps and the southwest salad 😢
I miss the steak breakfast burrito. The sausage one is fine, but the steak one was on a whole other level.
I remember Chicken McNuggets from as early at 1979. I ate them in 1982.
If only this covered other countries, you'd have a field day with the amount of weird stuff in other countries McDonalds
0:59 Never knew that San Bernardino was a state and California was a prominent city within it. Was this written by AI?
If you listen closely, you can hear that the narrator is actually saying "California's San Bernardino," which is an odd but legitimate way of putting it. Not sure about the AI part though.
The mcskillet burrito was the best menu item they ever had. I literally went to McDonald's every day for breakfast until they removed that item.
You did awesome narrator 😊
I miss the Angus burgers. I LOVED the Mushroom and Swiss. I also miss the salad shakers and parfaits. Nowadays I mainly just go for coffee and fries.
12:06 I love the Pokémon Go joke about Pokémon appearing at McDonald's.
i cried when i learned the steak bagel was back and when i tried it again recently it was disgusting. it wasn’t greasy like it was before. i remember the wrapper would be all greasy. also the steak is now more solid and hard instead of tender and would easily fall
apart before. it’s almost as if now they microwave the steak vs grilling it fresh with grilled onions. the breakfast sauce is still good, though. so i
can still eat the bacon egg and cheese one... remember the spanish omelette bagel? that was bomb!
I wish that mcdonalds couldn't say they have $1 menu at all, nothing has been $1 in several years here
I worked at McDonald’s in the summer of 1979.
Bring back the Arch Deluxe!
Don’t forget the popcorn chicken In the 2010s. If we as a people forget to bring it up in stuff like this it will never come back! 😢
I really miss the Super Size option, so does my Cardiologist
Me too. They jip you on the fries big time so that you know next time if you want to be full, you have to order something else
@@choossuck7653 YES YES! I remember when we got bonus bag fries too!!! I asked for hot mustard for my fries recently and they wanted to charge me for it, so I just took a whole bunch of ketchup and salt, I know it was childish but I couldn't help myself 🥺
@@psinclairjr not childish at all. That is ridiculous that they charge these insane prices and wont even give you a sauce.
You should really do an international McDonald's Menu item video. Outside of the US there are and were so many and more creative burgers.
Like in Germany the McRoesti or the Nuernberger sausage burger. In the UK they have Fish bites and cheesy garlic bread dippers. Japan always has cool items every year like the HiruMac Teriyaki chicken Filet-o, my favorite Shaka Shaka Chicken or now the new cheese bacon potato pie.
I heard somewhere McDonald’s is bringing the dollar menu back, my favorite item of all time was the McDLT, I think that needs to come back in the worst way
My favorite McDonalds commercial was in 1985 with William "Refrigerator" Perry ordering 4 McDLTs, 2 large fries, and a diet coke, eating it all in 4 bites, and then graciously offering to clear off the table where he sat with other patrons, of course lifting the whole table up to bring it to the trash.😂😂
I was a teen in the 80's, and I absolutely loved chicken mcnuggets, especially dipped in the sweet and sour sauce. Over the years, I believe Mickey D's has made some changes, like the size of the nuggets. Despite this, I still feed a craving for them now and then.
In the UK less than a year ago they briefly put the philly cheese steak burger on the menu and it was delicious. I believe it was a limited time seasonal item
Bring back the grilled chicken!
I don't like the burgers, so it was my go to during no breakfast hours.
No the place is good only for breakfast
Not sure if this can be included but you forgot to include the infamous Mulan Szechuan Sauce 😁
I don't care what people say, but I like McDonalds.
Same here!!!
Kinda like porn, Millions still do like it, and many hate to admit it, But the billions they rake in yearly has to come from somewhere 😂😂
