always a treat to see a new video!
Always a treat to release one! -E
I am still recovering from the shoulder operation and just hanging around with the kyde and Eric Show 😉 just because I can 🤗
+Joos Hungerecker- de Bruin Haha, hope your recovery is going well! Enjoy! -E
Kyde and Eric oh it definately does. Not Quick enough for me though 😶 I always hope that I am a Super Girl but nope, it just goes like always, slowly and painfully 😅 but I can wave again 🤗
that black fruit you called "kembayau" you need to cook it first and mixed with sugar... then you can eat it 😂 but yea good try for the first bite
comel sangat 😂😂😂
Been having a rough week with some suicidal thoughts. this just made my day. Something to distract myself with for an hour. Thank you guys.
+Malakaiea We can't imagine what you are going through, but we're happy we could brighten your life a bit. -Kyde
+Malakaiea Please take care of yourself. -E
My mother is a postal worker, I remember sitting in the drivers seat as a passenger as she drove on the right side. Mind you the steering wheel was still on the left. I think most rural carriers have jeeps now.
"boil the fruit untill it becomes soft, just like boiling potato or egg." 8.03 the fruit is called "Kembayau" in Malay or Asian Olives as what they said it is, usually people used to boil it first like you boil a potato or an egg easy, then you can add a pinch of sugar or salt anything you like so it'll become soft and tasty like avocado as she said it thats right, I have a friend from UK they eventually love eating it. but Ive done it before when I was a kid I ate them straight away. lol. my mom said oh this should be boiled first.
Looked like SO much fun!
love you guys!
Hey Kayde and Eric! You guys are awesome!
What a great Treat to get home to! Watching now Guys!
Love your perspective on Brunei guys. Gadong night market has been upgraded since your last visit and i'm glad you love our food 👍🏼
Wonderful, thank you.
RE: Jollibee
Yes it's from Manila.
Founded in 1978 as an ice cream parlor with hamburgers and some other items like spaghetti. Supposed to compete with McDonalds (locally referred to as "MacDo"), which came to the Philippines in 1975.
Today Jollibee is the largest fastfood company in the Philippines with international branches to serve Filipino OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers). They opened the first stores in the US way back in the early 2000s (Daly City, CA, near SF). They also have ownership stake in different international fastfood chains like Smashburger here in the US.
Founder was a rags-to-riches Filipino-Chinese.
Just so you know.
Love the long videos
I was not able to watch the Borneo series. Now I'm watching it and reaaaaly enjoying it. As always, great work guys. My favourite traveling channel.
Glad you are enjoying it! We loved that trip! -E
Loved your positive and fun reactions to that oil "museum"! I really appreciate your openmindedness to things that are different and new, and the respect you have for other cultures :) One of my favourite RUclips channels for sure!
Haha, thanks so much! It's easy to have fun if you just find the fun in stuff. -E
yay! love watching you guys 😍😆
Enjoy! -E
the black fruit is kembayau.. before you eat, the kembayau have to soak in hot boil water & add sugar.. after the kembayau are soft, then its ready to be eaten..
"...I was reading it out loud to Eric, and he just walked away." LOL so funny cause I could just picture his face, just NOT amused and he turns and walks away.
"You gotta get down to get on" hahahaah, Eric is awesome.
That green cake bread looks fantastic.
And yes, Jollibee originated from the Philippines and has expanded all over Southeast Asia throughout the years.... and even in the US and one in Canada now.
Great vid (as always). Also love San Fran. Hoping for a video from there!
Glad you enjoyed! Hopefully she has time to film a bit in San Fran! If you missed it we did make a bit of video there back in 2010! kydeanderic.com/NevadatoOregon/
That ending...dawwww...the feels.
"There's a couch outside!"
The reaction to the living room inside of the Jubilee hotel was great.
I screamed along with Kyde when that thing was going around!
I love Jerome! I love giraffes!
@39:47: Thing in red sauce. Tiny Anchovies, split in half and dried (then fried) .
Another great adventure! Loved your trip to the museum, I laughed so much! So often we've experienced similar situations in our travels! My son and i still laugh over the potato chip tree we encountered in Borneo!!!
Hahahaha, awesome. -E
36.08 Being far away from home but found something that brought your feeling back to childhood memory so clearly, a childhood reminiscent from the other world. I feel you. Its like falling in love again with different place different girl. haha.
the crab reaction "Oh My God! People! Hide, I never seen them before."
Gotta get up for work @5:30am. It's 1am I'm watching this. ❤ you guys!
Haha, don't stay up too late! -E
The 'sugar candy' thing at 35:40 reminds me of these little biscuit things that we have here in the UK called 'iced gems' made by McVities. :D They're little biscuit bases with a hard meringue swirl on the top - I wonder if they're the same as what you had growing up?
In the end-card, that calendar on the wall... June.... Kyde is time-traveling!!!!!!
Wow I can see my house in your video! Awesome!
Geng Bus Skulah that's so cool!
apparently the kembayau fruit is supposed to be soaked in warm water till soft, drain the water and mix with salt or soy sauce.... I had to look it up...
See 15:10.
Awwwwwwwwwwww. Was that friend from Japan a guy that gave great hugs and have beautiful eyelashes?
Pandan is a leaf use for food coloring. They probably meant Kecap instead of ketchup which is dark sweet soy sauce used in lots of Indonesian/Malay foods.
The origin of the word Ketchup may well be from Kecap since from what I recall it was borrowed from an asian word that described a sauce condiment. I don't remember the details and I am not in a position to research it at the moment.

Tagline/motto for Brunei: "Would you like ketchup?" haha. Wow that stop off the road with the gazebo-type deals was so beautiful. I love the way you are exploring this place - really seeing what is going on past the main roads. I love seeing what people are growing when I go to foreign countries away from the western world. I'd be geeking out over those pepper plants - great find! This episode was a fun guessing game too - trying to guess what all the foods are as you guys encountered everything.
Love your tour of Brunei. It took me back to my childhood days and when you were in Serial's and Kuala Belait. I was hoping one of you were going to try their famous chicken rice and "kolo-mee". Thanks for doing this video and just love the way how you guys are so adventurous!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed, we quite enjoyed our visit as well. -E
GWAARRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! !!!
Love Kyde's t-shirt
So funny you mention the turn signal/ wiper switch-up...I have the same thing happen every time I drive a RHD car...and predictably, I have it happen again for a few days once I get back in my LHD car. Shifting southpaw was interesting but not as bad as I thought it would be -- the shift pattern remains the same, so you're not trying to trick your mind into inverting what you've learned for eons.
Great hair cut.!
Hai :) I was streaming random videos on RUclips and encounter you guys. You guys seems familiar and kept asking in the video how to pronounce Brunei. Then I remember, you guys were the one that I welcomed into Swiss Hotel in KB. Akmal here! 😂 Glad you guys had a wonderful time in Brunei.
Oh wow, Hi Akmal! Good to hear from you, very funny you found our video! Thanks for helping us figure out how to pronounce the name of the country we were in, hahahaha! -E
32:44. omg, i died XD eric hit the brown note to describe the tea hahaha this is why i love you guys, you always crack me up and brighten my day!
Hahahahaha. BROWN. -E
There was a Kiosk and office for Hertz but they took it down for renovation.
Best release timing ever! Just as i sit down to eat!
That's exactly what I was aiming for!! -E
Love you're videos guys! Can't wait for more! Kyde do some hot sauce tasting before you leave the US!
Ketchup here in brunei we just call it tomato sauce and Kicap is soy sauce hehe
omg, that face Kyde made when you caught her covering the crab holes! 😂
Hahahaha.
Another great episode! Did you ever try those kembayau fruits boiled? Pandan leaf is the vanilla-esque flavoring of S.E. Asia and is everywhere. Usually, stuff that has it has a green color. Walking into an Asian market dessert aisle, there are dozens of filled cakes, pudding, cookies, ice creams and bread that feature it. It is usually slightly nutty and sweet, and there are some really tasty teas with pandan flavor too. Chicken tails (butts) are also common is Asia. Japan often serves them grilled in yakitori bars, and in the US they are sometimes called "Pope's noses." They are totally edible, usually kinda fatty with a little meat and cartilage. I saw a slightly larger one of those monitor lizards slowly crossing a road while I was riding a bicycle in Thailand. Glad to see Kyde in an end card Q&A!
Hi Kyde and Eric! Remember how I said how Manila used to be a sultanate of Brunei? Now they're connected by Jollibee. And yes Jollibee is a filo fast food joint.
(1) what a great reunion at the airport,,,,,,,(2) Kyde it's really good having you back in the videos, I'm sorry but Eric CAN NOT describe food.,,,,(3) went back and watched some of your old videos of Thailand 2009 ,you guys were kids..have fun and many more trips
its like a big iced gem
I laughed my butt off when you compared that smooth road to roads in Louisiana. ;) lol
Pandan is a delicious, I got it from a Filipino store. They had Pandan ice cream too. It has a buttery flavor.
you have to soak the kembayau in a bowl of hot water for several minutes until it is soft :D
OMG! I have not seen a Swensen's in 20 years. No lie!
The kembayau fruits should be boil with hot water and then wait for 5 min - 8 min then drain the water after that the fruit can mix with salt or sugar
YAY! Louisiana. Hello from Louisiana. :)
The fire coming up from the oil rigs are burning off the extra natural gases.
Vincent Miller its actually to heat the gas to seperate them into different layers of oil. Its compulsory to learn about oil here because its our main export.
Yeah, that's what I meant.
Kaya means coconut jam...its popular in this region
The way you said "I poop really efficiently", something about that just made me laugh so hard haha.
OMG they ate the Kembayau raw!
the chicken tail is chicken butt guys! but it is nice to me hahahah
As some folks say "Guess what, chicken butt."
Kahsi Fanam tongking hahahaha
Guess why? Chicken thigh.
Those look like chicken "oysters" to me. Which are definitely at the ass end of the chicken but are not technically that part.
One problem with that theory is that the "oysters" don't have cartilage in them. But yes, those are good too and they're an unusual bit of meat that that most folks in North America don't actively seek out.
Jollibee is also in Los Angeles.
Cookie with meringue (and coconut usually, I remember) is called a Macaroon, is that what you remembering enjoying with your mom? I enjoy your videos. Agree... never stop!
We did have Macaroons, but I'm still thinking of something slightly different. I should call her and ask. Haha. -E
I thought that cloud looked like the Nintendo Zapper gun. Eric, You are a lucky man : )
Oh, I know. -E
I went to University of technology. Yup, If you asked how the oil was found and produced. They will elaborate more more about technical stuff. its not just people from local in Brunei but also foreigner the professor who works and teach about Engineering Industrial thingy. Nerdy things, its a complement though a nerd as in that industry most of the workers are paid with big bucks. they actually have a certain lab to test the oil, many2 types of oils, to find out what types can be profitable, what type can be engineered and be processed in such way to make it usable for certain purposes.
Lol. I'm with Kyde, Pepto Bismol is yummy. XD Great vid, love this!
woot! louisiana!
Another country that's got huge chunks physically separated (non island style) is one that Kyde and Eric are themselves from. LOL
This is the old gadong night market its been renovated now.
I think the chicken tails you guys ate were chicken bums. Pandan flavored food is made from an aromatic green plant called pandan.
I think the fruit is dabai. You soak it in water and it gets soft.
hello kyde and eric greetings from california
Hi!
Haha it's actually the tailbone of the chicken called 'tongkeng', and a lot of bruneians love it! I believe some countries call it 'Adam's nose' abroad. Also, I believe Jolibee is a filipino franchise :) I'm from Brunei, and i just stumbled upon this vlog and I'm really glad you guys had an interesting and hopefully positive experience visiting here!
Thanks! We loved it there! -E
Wow, hour and 22 minutes! Long video. Just watched 1st half. Those crabs making the sand balls were pretty cool. Apparently they are called sand bubbler crabs.
That was an expensive deposit on the Hertz car. I rented a car from them recently and they only put a $50 hold on the credit card. Hope you guys filled up the tank before dropping it off. I was a gallon low and they charged me like $10 a gallon!
+collectivelight Ya, for some reason they couldn't put a hold on our card so required a large cash deposit instead. -E
The sultan has a palace near where you got the Kembayau. He has his own private beach. That mansion that you saw is just some rich guys house.
Did you guys notice if many stores there were closed on Fridays?
Also @38:07 Ahad means "Sunday". So Sunday burgers LOL
We did notice there is a mandatory closing time during mid-day on Friday. -E
Wow big croc!!!!!!!!!😳
them kamberyaus arent cooked btw you have to boil them...then drain em and and add some sugar to it....theyre kembayaus btw
You should boil it first the kambayau if you want to eat it and you eat it with rice and also if you open up the seed you will find nut in there
Thanks and by the way the ambuyat you eat it,s frm sago tree so it,s nice for both of you to enjoy your day in my country
Eric, I dont know how you eat a papaya other than raw, how do you cook it?
You said the the river was peaceful . And the reason is 12ft long and gently floating with the current....
And nowadays here in England 2-3 years after you posted this, a burger king 'whopper' (which appears to be a single burger such as you had) is $5.
kembayau that you eat actually, suppose to boil then add some sugar after that you can eat😂
Were you thinking of spritz cookies? That's sort of what it looked like to me anyway lol
That Rodeo burger is on the value men here son you got ripped on that 😩
Hahahaha dag
Your supposed to boil the kembayau(the like big seed with black stripes) and give a bunch of sugar to it😂
😂 i like ur vids cuz i like how the way u vlog and treat us..wish u luck!👌(and also dont ever forget(“Onion”)😍
Thanks!! -E
What book was Kyde holding?
Kyde is gorgeous. Gorgeous is a understatement.
I think she's hot too!! Haha. -E
Kyde and Eric Eric fight him he's hitting on your wife. That's right I'm an instigator. And btw I fell in love with this channel when I was looking for Taiwanese vlogs cuz I'm Taiwanese and I love watching people explore. And I found your channel. 😊
This is for Kyde: What do you get when you cross japanese mascot with Babymetal drumming? You get this: ruclips.net/video/1xYjaQia9GQ/видео.html, Enjoy.
"Once those balls are in the bag, nobody knows what's in the balls!"
I thought those were going to be your last words with that mini van aiming to run you over!!
"That sounds like crocodiles!"
You guys should make/sell t-shirts!
....we are all on the same page there. Stay tuned! -E
