you are amazing couple. i addicted watching all your videos, thanks for your effort
spent 4 weeks backpacking around japan last year and i miss everything about the country. thank you so much for these videos kyde and eric! i think ive watched almost every one about japan. it feels like im there again and it keeps me entertained till i can go back again next year!
Awesome! Hope you get a chance to come back again! -E
Love your videos. I feel you open the drawers and cupboards of a neighbours house, showing us, the visitors, what they are really like, instead of just highlighting the kitchen and bathroom. Thank you, I'm a people's person and think any interaction is a better experience .I've learnt more about the day to day stuff, than all the castles and temples I've visited during my trips to Japan.
We both love this comment! Such a wonderful way to explain what we try to do. Thanks so much for enjoying! -E
Seeing that you uploaded a new vid just turned my terrible day into a great one!!!
Glad it made your day better! Bummed you were having a terrible day though, haha! -E
always look forward to these videos I really enjoy the long ones.
Awesome, glad you enjoy! -E
"Sometimes they remember our memories better than we do." Now you know what it feels like to have lived through the 70s. To this day, I still fear the words.."Hey, don't I know you?"
That arcade was the coolest one I think I've ever seen. It's so awesome the way they have little brochures describing the games. I have never seen anything remotely close to that in the states. I'm an arcade fan from back when all there was to play was Skee-Ball, Crane games, and Whack a Mole and I have never been in one that awesome.
Awesome video guys!
Haha, I don't fear it but words we hear sometimes that make us laugh are "Are you from the internet?" Haha, like...yea, I guess so? Can one be "from" the internet? Hahaha. -E
Haha, I don't fear it but words we hear sometimes that make us laugh are "Are you from the internet?" Haha, like...yea, I guess so? Can one be "from" the internet? Hahaha. -E
Many years ago I and my girlfriend often played pinball (Gorgar - the only machine they had) in the university launderette. She trashed me every time. Of course we ended up married :)
Osaka is easily the coolest city in Japan in my opinion. Great video as always!
We are starting to feel that! -Kyde
I love how you went to Korea Town. My first time visiting Osaka, I rented an apartment right in Korea Town, unknowingly. I loved it and really struggled leaving after 5 days.
Kyde and Eric, thank you to posting out this vid! At Osaka right now!
Nice! Hope you enjoyed too! -E
Thank you two for the awesome videos! Can't wait to go back to Japan. And also... Happy Birthday Kyde! Hope you have a great Birthday weekend! Peace from California!
Thanks so much!!!
I've never been to Osaka, and I really want to visit. That city does indeed has its own charm.
Yea, you gotta check it out sometime! -E
Kyde and Eric yup! possibly in December. Or summer next year.
I had to get some food before watching. And I ended up with a yogurt/fruit/granola cup, just before Eric was showing off his pancakes with fruit! Perfect!
Perfect! -E
Stouffer's supreme french bread pizza with kewpie mayo is a little slice of heaven. Although, most anything with kewpie mayo is pretty amazing but this is my favorite combo.
That sounds awesome! -E
Hey guys!
When I studied abroad, I stayed in Kobe, but when I traveled to Osaka (which I often did), I always enjoyed Nipponbashi. It's great to see that you two had a fun time!
Ryan G.
Nice, haven't been to Kobe yet! Looking forward to it! -E
Yay new video!!
Yay! -E
You two are the sweetest couple!
+Kate Kaiser haha, thanks!
OMG That cake of Gamera was AWESOME, I have all the Movies on VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray and collect the toys as well. I would Say Godzilla is my Fave Japanese Monster, but my Second Fave is Gamera.
Nice, he was badass! -E
Nipponbashi was my headquarters when I was in Osaka. I stayed at a hotel aimed at locals, I think I was the first foreigner they had, so they went above and beyond. The manager told me the secrets of the area. He was fun. The room was amazing too. I feel like I didn't explore Osaka properly though- I don't know why.
We felt the same way on our first visit years ago, glad we went back and did it better this time! -E
Every time I hear "Adventure"; I hear it in Kyde's voice now.
Amazing! -E
I love watching your videos! I feel like I'm traveling with you! :)
Perfect! -E
Waahoo! Another video! I've been looking forward to this like Game of Thrones! 🤓
Haha, nice! -E
I absolutely love your content, but listening to Eric and Kyde try to describe food makes me laugh and cry. Cooking imparts so much experience and knowledge about food, I would love to see you two experimenting more with cooking! Anyway, I think what Kyde is talking about in the tsukune is that there is chopped chicken meat and cartilage, for that soft/crunchy/funky bite!
We are absolutely aware of how dumb we sound talking about food. Our kitchen really restricts our cooking abilities, it's very very small. -E
Goin' to work to recover from the weekend? Yes, that is a thing. Kyde is a TROOPER! Eric, how much of these vids do you remember when you respond to comments on vids from so long ago?
Haha, it's random how much I remember, but i sorta don't have a great memory for my own life haha
Great video thanks for sharing it with us.
You are welcome! -E
i love to cosplay! OMG this episode is amazing!
The pinball arcade was a good surprise when I stumbled upon it. Glad you got to see it. I also learned that I suck at pinball :')
Yea, we were shocked too! Also I suck at pinball. hahaha. -E
I had to play the older machines that had a less slant, so the balls would be slower, but I only managed about an extra 30 seconds of game play haha
You guys made Osaka seem pretty interesting! Might give it a shot next time too .)
Yea, you should! It's awesome! -E
Love your vlogs!
Thanks! -E
I love Osaka.
Oh yeah rocking out the Chu-hai. That why I love Japan
That shit is dirt cheap too from what I have seen..
Great video guys! how did the science lab coffee taste? And awesome Lego monument Eric quite the masterpiece you have there
I think Kyde said the science lab coffee was good! -E
Have you guys thought about showing everywhere you go on maps? Maps are always very interesting :-)
LOL I went to the same Takoyaki place in the America part of Osaka. Love that spot.
Nice! -E
you guys are so cute. Love your videos and i miss japan so much.
Haha, thanks! -E
New follower...going to Osaka Tokyo in December thanks for the video - good to see a fellow boozer K
Awesome! Enjoy your trip! -E
Hey guys, i love your videos. I am coming to japan in March and was wondering where exactly is this takoyaki museum to make your own takoyaki?
I think it was called "Takoyaki! Dotonbori Konamon Museum". -E
( Personally ).. I love the sound of both your voice's ,as you narrate your video's. .lol.. Often i just leave my home PC/stereo on and your videos on random... I just listen to your voices, as i do house-hold tasks during the day....( Thanks)..:)
Haha, nice! -E
Where's that lamb chop shirt from? It's amazing!!! Do you know if I can get one online? :) Love the vids!
www.graniph.com/shop/goods/search.aspx?keyword=Lamb&search=x&.com
Kyde is like "I'm so happyyyyy" Eric is like "yeah you had quite a bit of that drink"....have another drink kyde...
Haha
That barista in the red apron...wow!
Hahahah
As always I enjoy your video ! Osaka known as Kuidaore. You guys try eating anything, but Eric facial expression worries chef ... "Is this any good, huh?" Any way I like your honest down to earth unbiased opinion on things you encounter...no sugar coated saying. Keep going!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy! -E
great video
Thanks! -E
i know you had Fun, because i had Fun watching
HAha, sure did! -E
Hey guys, mind if I ask if you know any good places to check out in Tokyo? I'm here right now and will be until the 10th of July, so I want some places to go to!
I have an old Gottlieb pinball machine at home, the old mechanical type. Were there any Japanese Manga or Anime themed pinball games in that arcade?
+Kenneth Scharf Not that I noticed or remember. Most of them seemed to have been produced by western companies.
Do you have the info on the Korean Sandwich place? The glass coffee works is really rare, I only found one place in Philadelphia, PA that serves their brew with that method.
I'm shocked I found it. tabelog.com/en/osaka/A2701/A270205/27005003/
Thanks!
Okonomiyaki may have actually been invented in Tokyo first. Tofugu did an article about okonomiyaki and its (apparently) long culinary history. This is the link: www.tofugu.com/japan/okonomiyaki/. It's a pretty long read, but it's out there if you want to read it.
HOLY SHIT PINBALL. I keep trying to find them in tokyo as well. This really makes me wanna move to kansai
Yea man, if you find something like that in Tokyo let me know! -E
YEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!
If someone was going to Osaka for the first time, how long would you recommend staying there?
Thanks again for the amazing video!
PS: Did you notice the disney music in the Lego store? XD lol
At least 3 days or so. If you run out of things to do you can always go to Kyoto, Himeji or Nara on easy day trips. -E
+Kyde and Eric Thank you for your input! This really helps with my trip I'm planning. Going for three to four weeks and planning things around Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. So I wasn't to sure how long it would take to stay in certain areas.
Nice! This might also come in handy: docs.google.com/document/d/1DOUoFuDJ9I7hTIUCFkyAdnY_Q2jvZ-c84bezj8PyuPU/edit
+Kyde and Eric Thank you! I will be giving this a read as soon as I can!
Wait , is that a Doya Gai you've stayed in ? I may be mistaken , but for the price it sounds like so :) Anyway thumb up for you as always !
Yep!
Falconer is the correct term, btw.
Anyway, I really enjoy these kinds of videos.
Glad you found us then! Thanks! -E
Awww the Lego part, haha, so sad but funny.
Hahah
So I'm that guy with the blue minecraft guy logo that constantly comments on you guys' stuff and I just made a new RUclips channel and my first subscription on it was you guys! :D
HAha, awesome! Thanks! -E
Gamera! Wish they'd give him a reboot. Godzilla is getting a lot of love at the moment. Gamera is due for some too.
enjoyed ur video alot, a great osaka food buffet, with lego breaking spills to pinball crushing score to kyde throwing water to that poor guys face to Eric breaking out of his cocoon in the morning making plastic food n not able to eat it but admire its amazing body mass falling to its death as it hits the table like a 💩😂😂
haha, glad you enjoyed! -E
Hello from finland :p Just found this site, these videos are so good =) btw. The bar on the window in the hotel room could be for clothes to dry and have little wind if you hang em there and open window i quess :)
Yea, could be! -E
And the rooftop would be where you'd jump after seeing your room!
Kyde, were you in band? I feel like only someone who was in band would appreciate a baritone! :-P - speaking from experience
That place with the melty walls... I've had hallucinations like that.... :-/ Also what was the tour guide lady on the boat going on about?
Bridges and stuff. Haha. -E
21.01 good!
Do you make you own Kimchi? Love your videos❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nah, too easy and cheap to just buy it! -E
Man I do miss Osaka and you're right about Osaka compared to Tokyo. Tokyo for it being so huge did feel constricting but Osaka, to me is smaller, felt bigger. Also the girls in Osaka pigeon toe walk!
Hahaha, the Osaka wobble. -E
Awww yiss! Early access!
wow all that work.but it look good.
i am going to tokyp japan for first time in september any tips
Ugh, i still have nightmares about the time i put cucumber in a toastie! It can turn into a mushy courgette consistency
one question, will you guys ever visit Ryukyu?
Does Okinawa count? ruclips.net/video/c9aDuheWVJ4/видео.html -E
hahahaha my mistake, I see what you did there XD
That place where you got pancakes looks suspiciously like what I've heard a kissaten is like (especially in asadora).
Yep!
Where exactly is the pinball place? I'm in Osaka right now and I LOVE pinball. I would love to visit it if I could!
+Siyanafair enjoy! big-step.co.jp/shop/detail/44/
Woo! Will be sure to visit that place myself when I get to Osaka in September ^^
Are you two still going to upload newer videos or are you taking a break for now and uploading stuff that you haven't I don't care what kind of videos you upload just wondering. I love them all.
+uhavemooface Haha, take a break? We just uploaded this like 3 days ago.
Kyde and Eric Well I am a blind person then lol. Sorry I guess I should look more closely sorry about that my bad. Lol. Well then I am glad.
do you guys watch Begin Japanology? they have lots of cool topics about japan and the people places and things that make up the country! very informative and its geared towards westerners! thanks for all the videos i love you guys work! please add more content on people places and things less on food sorry just my two cents! thanks again!!!
We do sometimes watch Begin Japanology! Awesome series. Lots of people like to see food segments, so we try to mix it up with places and so forth when we can. -E
hey its your deal im just along for the ride ! and thank you guys so much!! if i can ill sketch up something for a t-shirt and see if you like it anyway thanks for sharing your travels with us (or me mainly just me)
Thanks for the tshirt skectch offer, but at the moment we are having a friend of ours make it. Maybe in the future we will do some fan-sourced shirts! -E
hey guys love the vids keep it up ! curious to know ? how hard is it for a foreigner (american) to get a job if they dont speak any Japanese/Chinese etc/ get an apartment/order food etc hah would really like your opinion. you guys should go to OKINAWA!
and eric check out 12:33 on this video the woman is straight MEAN MUGGING KYDE HAHAHHAAH
It's not impossible to do all those things if you are willing to teach English. Outside of that it becomes more difficult. We actually went to Okinawa recently and will have some videos about it soon! -E
Hahaha
My friend who visited "America" in Osaka said it's basically the equivalent of Harajuku. Loads of street fashion & western imports.
Yup! -Kyde
Can you guys do a live stream some time?
That makes me nervous! -E
+Kyde and Eric hahaha would be so much fun.
+Kyde and Eric does it give you the scaredy farts?
wow you got a window? That's luxury in Japan
Haha
I had to unlike every single one of your videos, so that I could like them again.
haha
Gah, I was in Osaka and I missed the pinball place? Now I'll just have to go back.
Good reason to return! -E
How come you guys don't put Wind Waker theme songs in the background anymore? lol
Because we don't want our channel to get shutdown by Nintendo. Hahahaha. -E
Hey Kyde, if you want to pet owls and falcons you should go to an owl/falcon cafe in Tokyo. They have a few of them in the city. Its pretty amazing getting to hold an owl, but I feel really sad for them being locked up indoors though :/
Let me know if you want an address...
Yea, we have seen them but haven't been yet. Feel kinda weird about taking the freeset animals in the worlds and putting them in cages. hahahaha. -E
Exactly.
Did you guys ask the cops to show up with bikes in the video?
Haha, nope. -E
@19:13 "That gigantic cotton candy!!" lol.
Jesus....that's the BIGGEST cotton candy i have ever seen in my life.
Kyde quick, give her your father's card!!
Hahaha. -E
I've heard multiple times that mental health rarely gets treated in Japan and if it does get treated it gets treated very poorly. "Like OK here's your drug prescription, take the pills and feel better!" Now we certainly do that in America and other parts of the world. But in the US if you need to talk to someone you can and there is less stigma.
Yea, We aren't really educated on what mental health care is like here, but we get the feeling it's not super advanced. -E
And I think this just goes to show people that Japan is not all robots and high-tech modern society. They have socialized medicine - but cancer has a huge stigma. It's my understanding that you can even get fired from your job for having cancer or being old.
There is a reason AFLAC is huge in Japan. I have even read, and I don't know how true this is - that a doctor might not even tell a patient they have cancer. So, proponents of national health care - please consider that.
They are not the experts on everything like the west portrays them to be. Don't get me wrong, let me clearly say that I am not bashing Japan.
I can't speak from first hand experience because,I have never been there (but obviously hope to). Japan has some things that westerners, especially Americans would find really perplexing. ATMs shutting down at night (which I have heard is changing) Cigarette and beer machines shutting down at night. How they are still a cash based society (which I think is probably good).
It's next to impossible to find a trash can in public? WTF?
Anyway - I always love your videos. When I go back and look at your early ones when you were traveling the world, I LOL.
Haha, there are a lot of reasons behind the differences in Japan and other parts of the world. It's not all totally random absurdity, although some of that exists. -E
It is called a life estate. You sell the property contingent to a life estate for the person in question. It is often done for wives in the will, I leave the house to my son, with a life estate for my wife.
I know what Kyde means about the chicken balls. Sometimes when I get Pho soup I get it with meatballs and Vietnamese meatballs are full of chewy, tendon/cartilage stuff. I did a quick Google check on Pinball machines in Tokyo and only saw one place with 9 machines. On this same site I did see a museum with 150+ machines but was in Inuyama City north of Nagoya... road trip! www.pinballnews.com/sites/japangamemuseum/index.html
Oh neat! Yea, thats a bit far from here. -E
Too far for you guys? No way :] Its understandable there needs to be other things to do for a proper road trip.
15:47 Are those takoyaki lamps..?
Yep! -E
AAAWWW! I want Kimchi Sammiches! Dammit ..so jellie now :)
From personal experience I can also agree that Japanese police are incredibly helpful! It really is an amazing example of how public service can function properly and safely!
Yea, it's like the total opposite of the experience I have had with police in The States. -E
Kyde and Eric Here in Canada as well.
love the video. and the coffee shop girl chopping(?) something...Kawaii!
yea, she was a hotty. Haha. -E
:) Wish I could have coffee there!
the hotel was 20 bucks, atleast you guys got extra spending money!
Yea, it was an adventure to say the least. -E
What did ya'll major in college?
Kyde has a degree in psychology. I didn't do no schoolin'. -E
+Kyde and Eric schoolin is for them hoity toity city folk. jk
Fer shure!
Kyde has good taste in Playmates. Miss June is way hotter than Miss April any day. Also I really love Kyde's confidence when it comes to pinball: "...We're gonna see who gets the highest score. I'm totally gonna win; you suck at this." LOL
Haha
When your other half beats you in the arcade it's bitter sweet. :-P
Haha, she's still lording it over me! -E
I want some pasta of the Gods!
Capture the giant pikachu at 11:02 😂😂😂
haha
I'm learning English, and I wish these videos had English subtitles because I can't fully understand what you are speaking.
I wish we had time to add subtitles to them all! -E
I loled at, "I think I can watch these balls rotate foreverrrrrrr"
Hahah
ruclips.net/video/SxzPz4Cw7Fk/видео.html Osumatsu San! Theme song playing in the background!
Nice catch! -E
Why dont you guys use Airbnb instead of hotels? wayy cheaper per night also usually you can get your own apartment aswell. it's what i use when i travel in Japan.
+bjni We do sometimes, but nothing was cheaper than the rathole we stayed in in Osaka, plus it was a fun adventure. -E
hahha ok fair enough :D
40:00 You mean like pink slime? :)
The lamps at the takoyaki (not sure about the spelling) museum look like takoyaki balls!!
Yea, they are! Well...plastic ones, not real ones. -E
