YESSSS the TOKYO WARD series is back!!! I'm so happy right now.
Hoooray!
Man I wish I ran into you guys when I was there a couple of months ago! :)
Also, I'm gonna give you a reason to visit Ginza other than pants. Kagari Ginza. BEST. CHICKEN. RAMEN. EVER.
Damn I miss just walking around Japan. Taking the train every sunday morning from Roppongi to Yokohama was amazing seeing a city that huge that quiet. And speaking about feeling safe, at that time the bars in Roppongi would finally be closing and nearly every week we'd see people passed out on the metro, they drop their wallet or purses and random strangers would grab their wallets and place it where they wouldn't forget them. It was amazing to actually see complete strangers worry about the wellness of someone else for no reason other than it was the right thing to do.
+Nick S You inspired me to take an early Sunday morning g train trip sometime soon! -E
You won't be disappointed
I went to Tenmatsu in that area, pretty sure it's in the Chuo ward. It's a fancy tempura place that has bargain lunch sets. The chef cooks the tempura in front of you and serves it to you piece by piece. Definitely recommend. I had the set that including maguro don, it was amazing
Omg, I went to that Nara store years ago when I actually visited Kyoto and Nara. So cool!
I love Family Mart, it was my first konbini when I went to Japan in high school (years and years ago) and has been my favorite since 😊
Check out the bank on Google map and see it from the above. The entire building actually has the shape of 円 (Yen).
Oh wow, amazing. Here is a link for anyone curious: goo.gl/maps/dqkkWnGUpKS2
Awesome! Chuo-Ku was where I stayed when I worked in Tokyo one summer back in the day. Lots of places I knew very well. There were actually some great and fairly cheap small restaurants and Izakaya between Chuo dori in Ginza and the road that runs past the Yaesu side of Tokyo station. Plus Yurakucho station area had plenty of nice little places as well. I bought my Tokyo map book and my kanji dictionary at Yaesu Book center also. The arcade level with all the shops and stuff below Tokyo station on the Yaesu side is huge. The best Katsu curry I ever had was from a place down there. I wonder if it is still in business. I look forward to the next episode. Tsukiji is pretty amazing! :)
Re. The "central point" marker, we have a similar system in London. Makes sense really, if you're heading to London and are seeing signs telling you you're x miles from London, that distance is measured from a central point, not just the point at which you hit the edge of the sprawling suburbs. London's marker is at Charing Cross. I would imagine the same goes for many other towns and cities, not only in the UK, but around the world.
When Kyde refers to a guide book for inspiration for all your excursions, I wish that you would name it or put it in the description. There are a lot of crappy guides, but having a reference from someone who has already tried it out (and whom you trust, ergo subscriber), it can help in planning one's travels, as soon as it is not irresponsible to do so. Love you guys!
We typically use Japanese travel magazines for trips inside of Japan. They are called "Mapporu" but most of them are in Japanese only, which is why we don't talk about them much by name. -E
What an awesome way to end my otherwise boring Thursday night! Yay!
Yay1
I have to admit, honestly, that after your short (but welcome) video on Tuesday, I was afraid that was all I was going to get this week. Thankfully you put out this video. Thanks so much.
+mustangrebus The upload schedule was planned out!
24:00 Save Ferris moment. Nice. And one of the best movies ever made.
Haha, good catch! -E
13:18 Nara is one of my favourite spots in Japan. I spent 4, 5 days there in the old part of town and I was charmed. Shouldn't be an "antenna" shop but an "antler" shop.
Haha, Antler shop. -E
This so great, and totally awesome that you start att Kodenmacho station. That was my "Home" station when I visited Tokyo in 2004. Me and my friend stayed at a now retired hotel just like five minutes walk from Kodenmacho. So I do know Chuo-KU :D
Nice! -E
I was unsubscribe from your channel a few weeks ago. I just check every few days now to make sure I'm still subscribed to my favorite youtubers. I also just put alerts on to watch your videos as soon as they post. Apparently that helps keep you in my subscriber feed.
+Danielle Molloy Yea, seems to be a common problem these days with RUclips. Really irritating, I can actually see statistics on our channel showing the issue too. All I can say is it might be helpful to follow us in FB or Twitter to have a backup for alerts we have posted new videos. -E
The paint balls is brilliant, you waste so much time having to describe a perpetrator to the police. Now it's like the guy covered in orange paint.
Lovely video. As soon as you showed the stamp game sheet my heart skipped a beat. I'm a hopeless completist, so I would have had no choice but to abandon all other plans and get all the stamps.
+f olsen Hahahaa
LMAO...picturing the guy covered in paint running with that heavy bundle.
He would have like zero chance of dodging the ball carrying that much.
He would just have to take in in stride.
😂😂😂
Happy travels to my favorite RUclips couple!
😊
+Nelson4207 Hahaha, for sure! Thanks for the well wishes, we are off to Borneo in 23 hours! -E
Instantly recognized Nihonbashi from watching Kirin no Tsubasa. Sorry Kyde, that's not a dragon, but a kirin. Now, you might be saying to yourself "Wait, isn't kirin a giraffe?" It sure is! That's because back in the 15th century, when giraffes were brought to China, some people thought it was their ancient mythological creature, the kirin (qilin in Chinese), and the name just stuck.
Fun fact, the kirin is seen as being the strongest of the mythological creatures, beating out even the mighty dragon.
If a dragon and a giraffe got in a fight something tells me the dragon might win. -E
My husband is a firefighter, and in the wildlands of Alberta, firefighters with the department of national defense use fire TANKS to get through the scrub and brush!
Wow, wild! I wanna ride in a tank! -E
Not watched the video yet... 50 minutes long. I'm already excited! :D
That tendon bowl reminds of my fave place in Asakusa called Daikokuya. So damn good. Can't believe Eric doesn't like eel.
Great travelogue, restaurant and shops reviews, never seen a double teeshirt man. Forwarded to my Nara Japanese friends, if they understand the English, they will love it....
That is a pretty interesting system with the paint balls to help prevent crimes!
Yayyyyyyyy! my favorite people to watch... love your videos !
+Lynette Stanton Yay! Enjoy! -E
Nihonbashi used to be the starting point for when people traveled (walked!) from Tokyo to Kyoto during Edo-era. What Eric was explaining as the mile marker is the designation of it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/53_Stations_of_the_Tōkaidō I
I used to love Ginza, but was really turned off by all the tour buses I saw while there last month. I saw 6 parked outside the uniqlo. I don't blame them for coming, but it really changes the atmosphere when the tourists outnumber the locals.
Sometimes I think the tourists become a part of a place's atmosphere. -E
Great video as usual guys. I really missed these local explorings around Tokyo, finding out all these good areas and restaurants to visit when I go there myself. :)
New Zack soundbite from the H3 Podcast of Eric barking, "You take back this whole ocean!" lol
if this was true it'd be hilarious
I love the "hotplate barf", haha. The ones with mochi are really really nice. When cooking you should make like wall with the vegetables, or like a well I guess, and then pour the batter into the middle of it and let it cook for a couple of minutes until unpleasantly gloopy(I mean, it never really looks not like barf). After that, mix it up and let it cook for maybe a couple more minutes. When eating, do not just scoop it up and eat it as is, but take a piece on the little spatula and then press it down on the teppan and drag it to make it crispy. Try it again sometime if you go and have okonomiyaki, most places serve both in Tokyo and you don't have to go to a speciality restaurant really :)
We had monjya years ago and liked it a lot more than this time, maybe we will try a different restaurant! -E
Love these Ku videos and hope you guys get over to Ueno and explore around there. I usually stay in that area when I visit Japan and will be there again next March. Lots of cool places to explore and eat. I agree with you on Ginza being less lively than places like Omotesando although the neon looks awesome at night. Made the mistake of eating at a tempura place in Ginza that a guide book recommended and ended up paying over $100. Found out later you can get great tempura in places like Asakusa for less than a quarter of that price. Live and learn.
Yikes! Expensive tempura! Hope it was good! -E
Oh I've stayed at the Marriott hotel around the corner from the Kabuki Theatre!
I liked things and commented! Also, looking forward to my next postcard as well as your next video! Keep it up guys, thanks for making my day better!
+Jacob Foster thanks so much! Our "new year's" postcards are amazing, btw. Haha. -E
Insert "excitement intensifies" gif here.
kaki - one of my fave fruits too.. so much so that i bought a tree to grow it on my allotment in the UK. I eat the skin as well ;)
Good idea! -E
finally u guys upload another video again I'm waited so long yeay ^^
This is our second video this week. Hahahahaha. -E
Kyde and Eric omg really? or maybe because I didn't see the upload I had been subscribe to u guys from 1 year ago maybe since I'm to busy but nice guys I just always like ur video it's so entertaining me when got bored
Ha yeh was suprised u down that hole egg Eric!!!!! Also love the almond choc too!!!! There great!!!
Great as always guys :D
Aw, you guys are so cute together!
Haha, thanks! -E
I'm 6'6" and wouldn't trade it. Love being tall!
Psh, that's not tall. -E
Great video as always :)
The ink balls are so funny!
I'm glad i saw this video. If i ever visited Japan and wore one of my old paintball shirts i would be wondering why people would be pointing at me and calling me a robber. lol
Haaha
I guessed kyde's dog.
Eric told me to comment, so here I am.
+OriginalName Me too. -E
Ha! I can watch this because I just ate and have more food in the fridge for a change!
Hahaha
Only me that went through this process, "How can she know they are polish from looking at them" swiftly followed by... "oh".
+anthony smith I totally forgot what you are referencing. Haha. -E
Yeeeaaaahhh great video as usual guys
Glad you enjoyed! -E
nice video. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks! -E
Here in Canada we don't have those paint balls, not that i've seen, but in the clothing stores some of them have clips on the clothing, and if you leave the store without removing them, they will dye the clothing and ruin it so you can't wear it or resell it.
Also what was with that pretty intense music going on turing lunch? LOL at first I wasn't sure if you put the music in or not haha.
One last thing, thank you for posting that little tidbit about the Kabuki theatre! I've been wondering if there was one around Tokyo or not! Adding that to my list!
I've seen the ink things on clothes here and in America as well. -E
Good to know that the Ginza Uniqlo has pants for us tall fellas haha
Keep up the good work!
Thanks!!!
ROFL "thats a 12 dollar yoohoo"!!
I'm spending part of my winter break in Tokyo, 27-30th, then I decided to come back and spend the night in my own bed before New Years in Osaka. If it is the Bank of Japan, it is comparable to the Federal Reserve in the US. I wanted to watch Kabuki here in Kyoto, but the tickets start at like $80, that is quite expensive for me.
I love your videos! UNlike other vlogs which bombard theirs with music and mindless chatter, you guys really make your viewers feel like were there! But pls. do try to pan occasionally when your eating in a restaurant so we can checkout the view hehe..Keep it up!
Thanks! So glad you found us!! We try to get shots of the restaurant to establish what things look like, but it can be tricky as there are often other customers in the restaurants and they probably aren't keen on having a camera in their face while they are enjoying their meals. It's a balance we try really hard to maintain. Hope this makes sense! -E
@31:14 this is why I love you Eric!
That dog is totally me! -E
great video
ERIC I LOVE YOU BRO!! You the best man!! For KYDE!! YOU LUCKY SON OF A GUN!! YOU TWO ARE LUCKY FOR EACH OTHER!! DAMN I teared up at the end!! so damn CUTE!! U TWO ARE!
13:57 Lady and the Tramp it up!
That fridge steals the souls of magical girls!!
(If you've watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica you know what I mean..)
I have no idea what Puella Magi Madoka Magica is, but lately I do feel a little less magical. -E
Oh man. Well if you like anime, definitely watch it! It's so dark and sad and terrible.
Sounds fun! hahahaha.
Eric wears a big red bow on his innerself? Hmmmm....... If it makes him happy!
I stayed just a couple of blocks near that massive department store, was such a nice surprise walking around and then seeing that! Interesting to know about the gas attacks too, I never knew the specific lines it had affected.... I used the Kodenmacho line a fair bit when I stayed in Chuo-Ku - it was a really nice area to stay in and wasn't too expensive either! :) Really enjoy these ward videos!
shrimp has a strong shrimp game.
. hahaha
+Chauncey Smith The strongest shrimp game of all the sea creatures, in fact!
Kinda... The are shrimp. After all
Eric u r damn funny, ur cracking me up, thx
hmm.. the description as "barf" looked very matching
💕💕💕💕💕Love you guys!💕💕💕💕💕
You guys are cool.
+Fragmad123 Thanks!
At 6:06 I was like, wow Kyde and Eric used to eat at some really cool spots, but now they're going to some restaurant where all they serve is 2 beans in a cup. I have got to stop watching you guys first thing after I wake up I'm actually an idiot. Anyways, really enjoying this series, keep it up guys :) Ok goodbye - CW
Hahahah
the shine on the chocolates is probably from shellac
The shine on those almonds comes from a thin coat of edible carnauba wax, which is standardly used in almost all coated candies (like M&M's, Whoppers, Lemonheads, Nerds, gumballs, etc.) and many fresh fruits (apples or persimmons), to give them a shiny appearance, protect from moisture and is harmless to consume, but it has nothing to do with the quality of chocolates inside. In fact properly tempered, ultra high-quality chocolates can be glassy smooth and glossy if they come out of a smooth candy mold without anything added.
Years ago I saw one of those "center of the country" markers just outside of Red Square in Moscow. It was described to me just the way you did in this video. Do you know if other countries (other than Japan and Russia) have similar distance measuring systems?
Oh wow, neat! No idea who else might use such systems. -E
Besides the paint marking a suspect well enough, if a clerk has a good arm, that could hurt like hell and even disable the person if it hits right!
+Italo's Music Studio - Music Theory, Piano and more! Hahaha
It is odd working in a financial area. You would think they would be active all the time - but they follow trading hours. It is hard to find a damn sandwich in a trading area in big cities sometimes.
Either black is symbolism! I swear lol. :) Behind Kyde Eric smiling! Eric man!! Love you sir! One day man one day!! We going to play checkers monopoly!!
Bently!! lol! Bently deez!! Ballz!! let me stop!! I'm being to funny!! DELIRIOUS!! I WOKE UP EARLY!! GERMANY IS COLD AND SUNNY! RIGHT NOW HOW!!!

Dark dank darkity dank. Dark dark dark darkity dank.
Dang it Eric!!! I want that damn Dempagumi shirt!!!! T^T
I would buy the one with the cat on it.
So that vegetables and batter thing was like Okonomiyaki?
Yea, but thinner! -E
Kyde & Eric, have you two been to NYC? If not, would you consider?
+Young Choi We have been there briefly, but we'd love to explore it properly someday! -E
I'm the cat. XD
Also my family has a couple persimmon trees onour farm but its in Indiana so the fruit is about the size of a large cherry. They taste good when they're ripe but look rotten, very different from Japanese persimmons.
Bottom right dog is best dog.
bag choice : pug life! I need pugs!
I wonder if there’s any of that guarana soda in one of those antenna shops if there are ones from Hokkaido?
There is! And I tend to stop in when I see one. -E
Chocolate chip FTW!!! Raisins...wellllllll...... 😅
I live in seattle when you talk about prices and stuff wages and prices must be less their for most things. here everything starts off at $10.
Yayyyyy
Hey Eric, have you ever run into any problems living in Japan with tattoos? I've heard they're frowned upon and people can give you a hard time about them.
+Steve Healt Not really. Most people I know prob don't even know I have them though. It's certainly not as mainstream to have them as it has become in the West, however. The stigma here is that yakuza members tend to have them, but being a big goofy white guy I think it's pretty clear I'm not a Japanese gangster. Sometimes onsens can stop you from going in, but real talk I don't really like onsens anyways. Thanks said, some have let me in in the past under the grounds the tattoos are on my arms and not my back, oddly enough. Sounded to me more like I was getting a "gaijin pass" on that one. Hahaha. -E
Kyde and Eric Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to visit Japan soon and I'm actually planning a trip from Hiroshima to Hokkaido. I was inspired by your Hokkaido series, can't wait to see how it ends!
+Steve Healt Nice! If you are just visiting and have tattoos you'll be fine. Depending on where they are and what they are you might scare some old ladies, but if you follow through with a smile you'll be fine. Good luck on your trip! -E
do you mean satellite shop?
That is some damn good History lesson!! Wow!! It does feel kind of scary!! lol but on wednesday it's going to be a party!! !Good way to segway the video!! lol!!! To eric into his love for balls.. Let me stop!! Wow!! I'm into this video!! I never commented it was my third time watching. .Why.. Cause it felt like a scary spooky movie when watching this!!! then eric says paint balls!!! Damn!! long lines!! And ghost stories! ^_^ :)
Best comeback is at 8:20 seconds Kyde tells Eric eat !it!! The rest is history!!
Hahahaha, balls. -E

Trip to Mexico?
if you break the Bentley. well you would work for the rest of your life to pay it. kyde
I can totally understand if you don't answer this question, as your channel doesn't really lean this way, but how are the Japanese reacting to Trump being elected president of the US?
+David Cervera Generally worried. -E
can u all get instagram ? I do enjoy u all video Katie is so funny :-)
Me ..me ... I ended up in one of those Chuo Line ... accidentally
Monjayaki is NOT something I want to try as I agree that its too "barfy' for me. LOL
Didn't the Japanese government execute the cult members like last year or 2019?
Oatmeal raisin rules.
Sorry, but deer, not deers*
+Ally Vander Veen Its a joke.
