I think I've figured out why I'm subbed to this channel. I feel like a lot of RUclipsrs who cover Japan content tend to do so in the same style, while cycling through the same things over and over... But when I watch your guys' videos, it feels like I'm vicariously experiencing these smaller known events with you guys. There's minimal editing, basic commentary, and some really epic shots! All of which is pretty awesome! 頑張り続けて~!
Wow I didn't realize it took so many people to fly one kite. Great idea with passing out tongs and paper bags to collect trash. It really takes a village with this festival.
Maaan, only half way through the video and it's already a bona fide kyde & eric classic IMO. Thank you so much for taking us along. I've been thinking about the kite designs ever since you released the Hamamatsu vid and I'm super super stoked to know you experienced it first hand! The vid is also visually stunning, great shots!
Sunburn in Hamamatsu after attending an outdoor event? Hey, snap! I got sunburn last October(!) when I went to the airshow at Hamamatsu airbase. Good times! Hope to be back in Japan later this year. Your videos were a big part of what convinced me to actually go to Japan instead of just wishing I could, so much fun to watch and so much great exploration of the lesser known side of the country. Long live Kyde & Eric!
Dang it! At 11:02 Kyde is saying "Instead of taking the shuttle bus back..." and I thought that was related to the truck backing up behind her. I'm disappointed.
Well, we have been to Egypt and filmed it. In fact we have filmed in like 30 countries. We don't have anything planned at the moment, however, as time and money are a tad tight. -E
I took the opportunity to quickly investigate the history of kite flying (Wiki) and not surprisingly China could be the original source (perhaps as early as the 5th century bce) as China had useful materials such as silk, bamboo and paper. Once again, not surprisingly, one of the earlier uses was for signaling during warfare which makes perfect sense if you think about it.
There is only one place in the city I live in Nebraska with the gyros are outstanding and not “just”. I think the couple who owns it is the cutest ever. During a bad water drenching thunderstorm the little old lady who owns it took a trash bag and cut it up so she could tie it around my head so i wouldn’t get soaked.
I've lived in Hamamatsu for going on 9 years and never been to this, mostly because there will be no parking and I don't really want to deal with taking the bus. Plus it's Golden Week so I use it to travel. I should probably take a taxi down one time, maybe next year. This year I was in Hong Kong.
it's totally worth seeing at least once. the bus wasn't too bad, just a short wait to get there and maybe 30 min wait back at the end of the day. they have it setup pretty smart.
@@kydeanderic 30 minutes is better than expected. I did the shinkansen factory open day before COVID (I get the impression they don't do it anymore, sadly) and I ended up walking back from that because of how busy it was.
I just want to say that I miss your old food videos where you tried different restaurants and special fast food offerings. It seems like most of your outside dining is Japanese food and maybe that is because of your travel destination not sure. I was watching your saizeriya video yesterday and laughing my ass off.
Yea, lots of people say they miss the old burger videos and stuff, but to be honest we sorta ran out of things to say about them. I made one about Burger King a few months ago and it didn't get much traction, haha. Maybe that kind of content is best served as a short form tiktok style thing these days, I dunno. -E
kites are neat.

Thanks & happy birthday Kyde!!🎉
yoooo thank you for the contribution! I'll pass the birthday wish to Kyde right now! -E
何時もお二人の日本旅行は最高でs!訪れた地元の分化と食を満喫していて最高です!!
What a beautiful weekend...makes me wanna go to Hamamatsu
Definitely, this is a festival that has gone under the radar I think.
Did I mention I love the opener on this one? With your mic-audio and the full frame view of the kites behind you? Great shot! :)
thanks! it was kinda tricky to film....scan the coming QR code for more details lol
The opening wide shot was ~cinema~
35:22 Kyde’s waffle rant at Eric is what I’ve been waiting for! 😂

Really enjoyed the filming of the moving float at 34:29, very steady and amazing camerawork!
it was a DJI pocket3, I could never do that without some sort of gimbal haha
love the perspectives 0:36 43:23 💗 not sounding too positive from kyde's close distance observations :( sorry you had to go through witnessing those
That super low crossing looks familiar.... As though a steam train may have been on it recently.
haha, different crossing, but same height I think!
I can see where Kyde is coming from with the guys standing next to their cannon, and I don't even have any civil war stuff experience.
This video was very refreshing compared to the usual Japan content that’s produced at the moment. Thanks.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Yes keep the rope at the Okinawa tug o war at the end they chop up the rope and give it out. Made from rice straw.
I love the style of your videos. Even after all these years you've stayed true to it. You guys are the best!
Thanks!!

yay! thanks!!
The dog! The dog deserves its own separate video 😂
Thanks Kyde and Eric
Wooo! We've been looking forward to this video since you went to Hamamatsu the first time! So exciting!

Oh thank you for the support on this and the other video! Appreciate it! -Eric
Legend has it that Kyde is still trying to finish the Kite Bingo. :)
So what's your and Kyde's vote on festival food favourites this trip?
the corn!!!
Seeing y'all speak Japanese is such a rare thing but when it happens it is funny for some reason.
21:38 what does the sign say? some sort of warning? I see "!!" at the bottom so it must be a strongly worded warning?
Warning falling kites.
Aw heck yeah I was looking forward to this! I’ve got a kite and a big field right next to my house so like it’s kite time!
Chocolate dipped waffles - YUM!
Nasty dude - EEEWWW!
Dang it! At 11:02 Kyde is saying "Instead of taking the shuttle bus back..." and I thought that was related to the truck backing up behind her. I'm disappointed.
haha
Fredericksburg mentioned!
watch out for the flood of influencer tourists headed towards town!
Any chance to see you guys travel out of Japan. Visit a place out of your comfort zone e.g. Morocco, Egypt or Pakistan?

Great video! Hope to get to 2025 Japan kite fest. Hamamatsu, or Sagami, or ? Dates/recommendations, please!
The only one we have been to is the Hamamatsu festival, not sure when it happens this year but it was lots of fun! -E

gyoza and sex?! that was a first on my analogy sheet.
Kites were awesome.

Loving the unique 🪁 festival coverage. O and the Kyde butt hole stories.

I can't believe it, it's like a real life "Mall Rats" scenario, never thought I would see the day 😧 Hope all is well.

Need money to take SCOTUS to court! Isn't it Ironic, Don't Ya Think.
