      Did you bring your own sheets and pillows? Also, I rented a car one time and its smell gave me a headache, so returned it. The business said all their rentals had been underwater in Louisiana during a Hurricane and they couldn't get rid of the smell. I got a refund, and went to a another rental company. Now I ask when I rent if the car I'm renting has been written off by an insurance company, if so no rent!

      I will be honest, sadly! I am burned out on videos of people eating noodles and restaurants in general. That death hike you took up the mountain in the rain was awesome. Would love to see more scenery and less food, so many channels do food in Japan now. So I vote more places, even creepy spooky ones, and much less foods. Heck I would even watch Amusement parks and Zoo's at this point. I do understand you have to work with what you have in the area you are in. Hope I didn't offend you.

    • @kydeanderic

      Haha, I actually agree with you to a degree. We actually often find it hard to be excited about filming "normal" food in Japan. The tricky part is the purpose of our videos is to give a "full experience" of our trips, or well, as much as we can, and many people appreciate seeing the food, especially if they are new to Japanese food videos, etc. It's a tricky balance for us to keep everyone happy. We try to do our best to include things to keep the videos as varied as possible. And yea, that hike in the rain was one of my favorite things we have ever filmed in Japan, but it's just not possible to crank out a banger like that over and over every week, and honestly it's not a really accurate representation of life here, hahahaha. -E

    23:38 that hotel is very similar to the one I stayed at in Nara, it was an old 500 year old former geisha house. No dirt floors though but very old with mud and wattle walls and cold because there was no central heating. We had bigger rooms as they were the homes of the geishas. The telephone in my room was vintage 1960's and still worked. It was a fun place to stay.

    I've seen and used the same tiny water kettle in a couple of small business hotels in Japan long time ago, but they were on the table and not attached to the wall. There should be a small matching brown lid to help it boil faster. Guess someone made off with the lid or it rolled down under the bed😆. You've sold me on the town especially after seeing the clock tower or Shinkoro (I looked up the town). Will definitely visit if and when Japan opens up for tourism.

    Notwithstanding the current tourist dearth, I get the impression that this area of Hyogo doesn't see a lot of foreigners. Did you get that vibe, too? Sleepers are also called cross-ties. Spikes are driven through holes in the rails into them to accurately maintain the spacing between the rails.

    Was that a shared hotel type "Room" with the long hallways, kitchen, bathroom or was that quite literally one giant hotel room with all of those rooms. In other words, once you went from the outside through that first hotel door, was everything yours or was it like a hostel inside where you were.

    I can't wrap my mind around that second hotel (starting at about 23:38 ). Is that all one hotel room, or several rooms with a shared kitchen and toilet? And was it carved out of a space built for another purpose and repurposed as a hotel?

    • @ikaruseijin01
      @ikaruseijin01 2 года назад +2

      I think it was just an old house. Very old, like two or three hundred years old, that was converted into a hotel. Common areas were just the way the house was back in the day. Dirt floor in the "working" areas of the house- that is, the kitchen with the wood fired stove, etc. Rooms constructed out of former living and storage areas. A bit of a hodgepodge because it's just old; buildings get modified as they get used in different ways over the generations.
