Eric, the line in the water when you were on the boat was where fresh water and salt water were meeting. It's called a confluence. You were lucky to see one so pronounced.

The "line in the water" is where river water meets ocean water. The mixing isn't instantaneous, it takes awhile so you have that odd phenomena on the surface.

"The "line in the water" is where river water meets ocean water. The mixing isn't instantaneous, it takes awhile so you have that odd phenomena on the surface."
This was my first time seeing such a thing, or even hearing about it! Thanks for the explanation.

      @ikaruseijin01 7 лет назад +2

I should mention the geology fan in the comments who explained that the line was a drop off of the sea floor under the water isn't wrong, the deeper water is probably why the river and sea mixing happens at that point. Stronger currents in the ocean and such.

Hello from Malaysia~! It's always been very exciting to watch your trips around the world, especially this part of my own country :D can't wait to see the rest of this series and the Hokkaido series, keep trippin' guys ;) On a side note, the first mystery gift that kyde had in the video with the mixed rice was bitter gourd with fish paste stuffing in the center or the locals call it "yong tau foo", a Chinese Hakka dish. Secondly, the "seasoning" that came with the water apples is sour plum powder. Cheers!

Roti is unleavened flatbread toated without oil on a skillet. Naan is leavened and cooked in a 'tandoor', Indian style coal oven, also without oil. What you got looked more like a 'paratha' which is cooked with oil 'grilled' on a skillet, it can be stuffed with meat or veggies or unstuffed. The wash-spin type machine is semi automatic, it is the cheapest kind of washing machine that you can buy. Btw, I'm a uni student and cannot afford to travel much so I love your videos.

The spare ribs dish is a Chinese Malaysian one called 'bak kut teh' which literally means meat with tea. It's eaten with the fried bread you ordered, and also rice. And now that I've just described it I'm majorly craving it.... 🤤 it's made with interesting Chinese herbs....which I don't know how to describe but suffice to say, they're special...(according to my grandma)

Just wanted to add that tea rib dish is based on the dim-sum favorite pai-gwut (phonetically in Cantonese) which is steamed sparerib tips in garlic and black bean sauce. The tips are the trimmed ends of the St. Louis style ribs where the rib cartilage connects to the rest of the bones. The main middle part of the rib is usually reserved to make the red BBQ ribs you see hanging in the windows.
The fried Chinese doughnut/cruller is called yow-jow-gwai (again in Cantonese) and is usually dipped either in sweetened soy milk or floated in savory rice conjee for breakfast. When you guys head to Hong Kong you will get the chance to try these versions if you go to dim sum there!

The washing machine in the hostel is a British type known as a twin tub (somewhat old-fashioned now) Brunei was a British colony until about 50 years ago...I guess this explains it....but I thought they were more technologically advanced there now.

    • @richardoedward7569

Robin Barker They are actually but somehow people who use twin tub find it much cleaner and the price is half the price of a normal washing machine.

I have never saw any hotel/motel provide manual washing/drying machine to its customer.
1)On top of the wash/dry slide button was the place which you supposed to assemble the hose to it and the water will pour in.
2)There is a lid on top of the drying part of the machine, which you supposed to put on your clothes before spinning it. (Helps balancing the machine with the amount of clothes) 3)Usually the scoop was buried inside of the washing powder(if you are using the powder type)
4)I guess the hotel did not connect the hose where the water came out to the machine
5)Why did they did not gave you any basket to put your newly spinned clothes in? (it is rare for the hotel to not put up a sign on how to use the washing machine and provide utensil with it)
    ENJOY YOUR STAY =)

Holy crap gas is cheap there compared to where I am in Nova Scotia Canada... it's currently $1.13 a litre here right now!! And there's about 4L in a US gallon... so yeah... not cheap!!
As for the washer/spin dryer... oh Kyde... I take it you never saw a washer/spin dryer before? We had one when I was a kid and they are common here with people in apartments... although less than they used to be... that one they had seemed somewhat broken... lol especially where it was draining on the floor... good thing it was in a bathroom with a drain 😂

    Hello guys,
Hope you guys re doing well. Traditionally, Roti has to be eaten with hands. Roti is more popular in India because people prefer healthy wheat flour over all purpose flour(all purpose flour is used to make Naan). Also, Naan is not cooked in every household in India, but Roti is cooked in almost every household in India. The egg with the Roti is known as Egg Paratha (Paratha another form of Indian Bread like Naan). In India traditionally Roti,Paratha, Naan or any other Indian bread are to be eaten with a vegetable (Curry, as we normally call in the states) made with either Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese, which I bet! you guys tried it in India or some meat), also to go with that they have mixed Lentils called Dal.
Hope this helps and if you need any further assistance with Indian Culture or Food let me know.

Kyde and Eric I'm so confused as to why you don't have at least ONE cellphone. Even if you don't want a 2 year plan you can buy a phone that you pay for monthly and you can let it expire the months you don't want it and then the month you want it you just go buy a TopUp card. Having a Cellphone would have allowed you to see weather, make reservations, and many more things. A cellphone has saved my life, having a flat tire in the middle of the woods with no one around for 50 miles, I called and got family who came, a car service came, and a Tow Truck. Without a cellphone I would have had to get out in the middle of the night and walk 50 miles to the nearest town. For you Safety and Concern, please get a cellphone. I don't travel anywhere in the world now without a cellphone, even if I have to buy a throw away phone in the country I am in. They have saved me many times.

I have an American debit card and I can pull out yen at 7-Elevens in Japan. I haven't had any luck at any other ones except for in the malls like AEON because they have a lot of ATM machine options usually.

The washer spinner were a thing in the 70's and 80's and I hear they are coming back. Those look like an old one I had in Canada in 1989

That's the most convoluted washing machine I've ever seen, at least when talking of modern ish equipment. Not the worst, there was one ancient thing I had to use for years that left clothes always smelling disgusting no matter what I did, but even that had some... automation.

In Canada $0.47 of every litre of gasoline is tax. Gasoline price is $1.36 / litre. That is over $5.00 / US gallon. We are taxed like crazy here. Slaves basically.
