I’m a Kuwaiti Muslim and we have Sunni and Shia here. I’m a Sunni and they are my brothers we live in harmony here in Kuwait our ancestors died in the 90s protecting us, when push comes to shove we are one fist we are Muslims and that should be more then enough.

My brother works for the Canadian Government abroad. In 2010, he was stationed with his family in Kuwait. When my sister & I visited his family in Kuwait, my sister-in-law took us out to the city in a taxi. When we were riding by a mosque, I remember asking if the mosque was Sunni or Shia, & my sister-in-law immediately shushed me, telling me that kind of question might have offended our taxi driver.

If I was a Muslim, I'll be a Shia. It's the right and commonsense thing to do. The prophet literally and openly said " if you follow me, then follow Ali!". Allah will not ask us whether we are Sunni or Shia. We put ourselves in danger of committing grave sins by abusing any companion of the Prophet (pbuh). It is not our place to pass judgment on the companions of the Prophet or to take sides in the issue of Khilafa. We weren’t there, and what we think and argue about in this matter is futile. Allah will only ask us about how sincerely we followed the Quran and the teachings of Muhammad (pbuh). Many Shia practices do not trace back to the Prophet (pbuh), such as the self-flagellation rituals observed by some Shia Muslims during the Islamic month of Muharram to commemorate the Battle of Karbala. There is no virtue in these practices, as the Prophet (pbuh) never engaged in such actions, even at the martyrdom of Hamza (RA) at Uhud.
I'm not a Muslim, but I believe you're right. Why argue over this differences when both believe in one God. The spit was made use by hypocritical country to split the Muslims. This particular country doesn't want to see peace on this world because if the world is peaceful, they can't make money by selling arms to make them rich. The prophet would never choose a successor using such vague words and without any instructions. Which means it meant something else. Prophet's words were never vague, he appointed clearly Ali AS in many occasions. To justify Abu Bakr's usurpation of caliphate you sunnis had to "vague" the Prophet's words to fit your narrative. Please read history in sunni literature you will find that Ali AS was to be the first caliph/successor/imam. May Allah guide sunnis to Ahlul Bayt and the right path. What sunnah you follow depends on your aqeeda, Some qaafir sects make up hadiths about the prophet peace be upon him, And they also pray differently and do a lot of things differently.
But the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) reported that Islam will be divided into 73 sects, and only one of them is on the right path. Again the remaining 72 will fight against that one religion.
This does not say in explicit terms that he wants to appoint Ali as the next ruler. Where does he say that? The prophet would never appoint a successor with such vague words and with no instructions. The Christians do similar cherry picking to prove Jesus was God.

I am a muslim. I believe in Quran and Hadis. There is nothing about Shia and Sunni in the Quran or hadis. Quran prohibits Muslims to be divided and hadis says all muslims are brothers. So I don’t care if anybody a Shia or Sunni and I don’t think we have to be one (shia/sunni). we are Muslims.

After a lifetime of research I'm now satisfied that the Shia of Rasool Allah(SAW) and Imam Ali(AS) are on the right path. How can anyone dare disobey the direct command of the Holy Prophet? Did Umar or Abu Bakr know better than the Holy Messenger of Allah, the best of creation? How can someone claim to be the best of companions but as soon as the Holy Prophet returns to Allah they run of to Saqifa to plot a takeover instead of tending to the burial arrangements of Rasool Allah. How can someone accuse the blessed daughter of lying? How unfortunate is that soul who received the curse of Fatima Zahra(AS), the pure daughter of Rasool Allah. The want us to believe Rasool Allah left no successor when it is already clearly recorded at Ghadeer Khum that Imam Ali is the master of the Ummah, but Abu Bakr gave himself the authority to appoint Umar after himself. What nonsense is this? Did Abu Bakr know better than Rasool Allah? I think I have made my mind to follow and honour the one born in the Kaaba, the one who was raised by the hand of Rasool Allah, the only one who was worthy of marrying the pure and blessed daughter of Rasool Allah. Ghadir Khum was a pit stop. The prophet would never choose a successor using such vague words and no instructions. He was trying to clear up a quarrel between Ali and some other Sahaba. He said this about many of the prominent Sahaba all the time, almost every day.

This is a common misconception, the ghadir speech has nothing today with the earlier conflict you mentioned nor does the Prophet's speech say anything about conflict. Read the actual speech at ghadir it was an important proclamation not a "pit stop".

I still believe that the Muslim should not have split into two factions because this act was not appreciated beforehand by Allah and our prophet Hazrat Muhammad pbuh. His real sunnah comes from them. Who was best suited to teach his sunnah? The companions (as the sunnis follow), or the family (as shia follow)?. By the way shia follow not all "his family", only those the Prophet told us to. In Quran, and many sunni and shia hadiths, Prophet PBUH tells us "ALI HASSAN HUSSAIN FATIMAH" are his pure family. We believe that his family is pure from all sins, and errors, unlike sahaba who make mistakes and went to war against each other (who sunnis get sunnah from), so we don't take sunnah from them , because Prophet told us to follow his pure family who are purified. And he told us to make Ali AS as leader and imam after him. All shia hadiths that discuss sunnah come from Prophet and 12 imams, who are all from lineage of Fatimah. I will let you decide where you get YOUR sunnah from. Just open sahih bukhari and muslim who sunnis say is the most authentic sunnah book after the Quran. Until today, muslims struggle understanding the Quran. One reads this way, another a different way. Why??? Did the Prophet PBUH not provide interpretation and meaning before leaving? God forbid! It was the disobedience of Umar Ibn al-Khattab and Abu Bakr at the Event of Saqeefah just 3 months after the Event of Ghadeer when the Prophet declared Ali to be his successor as evidenced by both Hadeeth al-Ghadeer and Aayat-ul-Ghadeer (verse 67, Surah al-Ma'idah). Abu Bakr and Umar abandoned the Prophet's funeral preparations and the former usurped the caliphate at Saqeefah, aided by Umar. That's where the first major split starts. All else followed. The s-called Sunnis adopted a mixed "sunnah" of the Prophet and Umar, while the Shias, chose to stay with the "sunnah" of the Prophet ONLY, refusing to take anything from Umar!

There were dialogue abd agreement between camp with Ali and Aisha Talha Zubayr etc. The enemies of Islam made the attack l, causing event of siffin. After much blood shed, ithe battle stopped. Plot was made to kill Ali Muawiya Amr bin As etc. Only Ali was killed. Hasan was appointed as stated by the Prophet, he would bring the unity of the Muslims. He made agreement with Muawiya to give leadership to him and when Muawiya died Hasan would take over. Hasan died before and despite being advised by senior sahabas, he appointed his son Yazid. Based on Plan of Abdullah bin Saba using the plot of the family of the Prophet creates another group Shias who was based in Kufa. Ali opposed them and even threaten to punish anyone who favors him over Abu Bakr and Umar. The narrator is very ignorant and bias of many narrations of thebl virtue and excellence of Abu Bakr and Umar from the beginning of the Prophet mission until the end and special place they had over the rest. Hussain were deceived by the many appeal by Shia of kufa to come and they would support him. The people of Kufa was known by the sahabas to be deceptive and traitorous and senior sahabas advised Hussain advised him against going. He was convinced and left with his family and others. He sent one person to check the people of Kifa claim. He wass murdered by them, when Hussain heard that he changed his mind from going but the family of slain envoy wanted revenge and insisted on it. So they proceeded.The people of Kufa turned against them. Yazid instructed his army to prevent them from taking his leadership Not to harm them. When they faced the army of Yazid, Hussain requested he be carried to Yazid, to give his pledge, he be exiled to borders to defend the Muslims or returned to makkah or madinah. The Shia element in the army of Yazid demanded that he surrender as captives. Hussain rightly refused this demand and decided to defend themselves, which caused the tradgy of Karbala. This was used by Shias for division from the Muslims Yazid condemned and cursed those responsible for massacre of karbala, he honored the family of Hussain and allowed them to return Madinah.He stated if I had allowed the grandson of the Prophet to do as he wanted, it would have weaken his leadership. Based on many scholars the Shias sided with non Muslim invading armies like crusades, Monahals and others to conquer the muslim lands through history. Hence why Salahudin had to destroy Fatimid Shia state before he conquered Jerusalem. Iran Persian Shia state was established by the West to support the zionist state and disstabalize the Arab and Muslim world and they and its proxies are supported by the west

Did Moses had a good wife? Did Prophet Noah had a good wife? Did Prophet Lut had a good wife? Did any of them ever divorced their consorts? Why don't u see Ayesha actions when she fought the Ahlalbayt(Family of prophet) on whom love is obligatory mentioned in the Quran? The battle is called battle of camels because Ayesha marched her army while being on saddle of camel. Who prophet said he is my brother in pact of brotherhood. On day of Ghadeer called him our wali(Master/friend for some interpretations). Who god said that he and Allah loves him. His cousin and son-in-law. Prophet was raised and lived in his father home? Who opened his eyes in the arms of prophet, Kaba walls cracked open to invite his mother when she was about to deliver.

I am sunni, i believe ali ibn talib was chosen by Muhammad PBUH to lead us, no disrespect to Abu bakr or Umar. Well despise all of this Ali ibn talib never stopped supporting them, because he never wanted dispute between muslims, and he respected umar and abu bakr. And i don’t know why sunni’s doesn’t accept this that they made umar abu bakr made a terrible mistake. Even uthman as well he bougt back marwan and made him governor the same guy our Muhammad PBUH banished him, abu bakr send him even further, umar even restricted him more but uthman bought him back, uthman favoured his family, and ummyah became so strong they established the dynasty on the corpse of our beloved hussain and his family. My brother works for the Canadian Government abroad. In 2010, he was stationed with his family in Kuwait. When my sister & I visited his family in Kuwait, my sister-in-law took us out to the city in a taxi. When we were riding by a mosque, I remember asking if the mosque was Sunni or Shia, & my sister-in-law immediately shushed me, telling me that kind of question might have offended our taxi driver.

Allah will not ask us whether we are Sunni or Shia. We put ourselves in danger of committing grave sins by abusing any companion of the Prophet (pbuh). It is not our place to pass judgment on the companions of the Prophet or to take sides in the issue of Khilafa. We weren’t there, and what we think and argue about in this matter is futile. Allah will only ask us about how sincerely we followed the Quran and the teachings of Muhammad (pbuh). Many Shia practices do not trace back to the Prophet (pbuh), such as the self-flagellation rituals observed by some Shia Muslims during the Islamic month of Muharram to commemorate the Battle of Karbala. There is no virtue in these practices, as the Prophet (pbuh) never engaged in such actions, even at the martyrdom of Hamza (RA) at Uhud.
I'm not a Muslim, but I believe you're right. Why argue over this differences when both believe in one God. The spit was made use by hypocritical country to split the Muslims. This particular country doesn't want to see peace on this world because if the world is peaceful, they can't make money by selling arms to make them rich. All of the verses which relate to commanding virtue and preventing vice are all proof of the free will of human beings because if a person was destined to do so, commanding them to do so would make no sense.
All of the verses which speak of blame and reproach against the evil doers and praise for the good doers are proof of free will because if one was destined to do whatever one did, blame or praise would make no sense.
All of the verses which speak about the questioning on the Day of Judgement and the Judgement in that Court and then the rewards and punishments and heaven and hell are proof of free will because if one was to assume that everything was predestined then questioning, judging, rewards and punishments would all be oppressive.

His real sunnah comes from them. Who was best suited to teach his sunnah? The companions (as the sunnis follow), or the family (as shia follow)?. By the way shia follow not all "his family", only those the Prophet told us to. In Quran, and many sunni and shia hadiths, Prophet PBUH tells us "ALI HASSAN HUSSAIN FATIMAH" are his pure family. We believe that his family is pure from all sins, and errors, unlike sahaba who make mistakes and went to war against each other (who sunnis get sunnah from), so we don't take sunnah from them , because Prophet told us to follow his pure family who are purified. And he told us to make Ali AS as leader and imam after him. All shia hadiths that discuss sunnah come from Prophet and 12 imams, who are all from lineage of Fatimah. I will let you decide where you get YOUR sunnah from. Just open sahih bukhari and muslim who sunnis say is the most authentic sunnah book after the Quran. Abu Bakr and Umar abandoned the Prophet's funeral preparations and the former usurped the caliphate at Saqeefah, aided by Umar. That's where the first major split starts. All else followed. The s-called Sunnis adopted a mixed "sunnah" of the Prophet and Umar, while the Shias, chose to stay with the "sunnah" of the Prophet ONLY, refusing to take anything from Umar!

He made agreement with Muawiya to give leadership to him and when Muawiya died Hasan would take over. Hasan died before and despite being advised by senior sahabas, he appointed his son Yazid. Based on Plan of Abdullah bin Saba using the plot of the family of the Prophet creates another group Shias who was based in Kufa. Ali opposed them and even threaten to punish anyone who favors him over Abu Bakr and Umar. The narrator is very ignorant and bias of many narrations of thebl virtue and excellence of Abu Bakr and Umar from the beginning of the Prophet mission until the end and special place they had over the rest.
Hussain were deceived by the many appeal by Shia of kufa to come and they would support him. The people of Kufa was known by the sahabas to be deceptive and traitorous and senior sahabas advised Hussain advised him against going. He was convinced and left with his family and others. He sent one person to check the people of Kifa claim. He wass murdered by them, when Hussain heard that he changed his mind from going but the family of slain envoy wanted revenge and insisted on it. So they proceeded.The people of Kufa turned against them. Yazid instructed his army to prevent them from taking his leadership Not to harm them.
When they faced the army of Yazid, Hussain requested he be carried to Yazid, to give his pledge, he be exiled to borders to defend the Muslims or returned to makkah or madinah. The Shia element in the army of Yazid demanded that he surrender as captives. Hussain rightly refused this demand and decided to defend themselves, which caused the tradgy of Karbala. This was used by Shias for division from the Muslims
Yazid condemned and cursed those responsible for massacre of karbala, he honored the family of Hussain and allowed them to return Madinah.He stated if I had allowed the grandson of the Prophet to do as he wanted, it would have weaken his leadership.
Based on many scholars the Shias sided with non Muslim invading armies like crusades, Monahals and others to conquer the muslim lands through history. Hence why Salahudin had to destroy Fatimid Shia state before he conquered Jerusalem. Umm Salama (the wife of Prophet) asked: "Am I also included among them O Apostle of Allah?" the Prophet replied: "You remain in your position and you are toward a good ending."

I am sunni, i believe ali ibn talib was chosen by Muhammad PBUH to lead us, no disrespect to Abu bakr or Umar. Even Muhammad PBUH on his Death bed he wanted to write his will, which is the right of every human being, Umar said Quran and Allah is enough for us, how can you do that to your last prophet. Well despise all of this Ali ibn talib never stopped supporting them, because he never wanted dispute between muslims, and he respected umar and abu bakr. He set an example, he never said anything bad about umar, abu bakr or uthman, he even protected uthman. But i don’t know why shia hates other sahaba’s when ali never hated them. And i don’t know why sunni’s doesn’t accept this that they made umar abu bakr made a terrible mistake. Even uthman as well he bougt back marwan and made him governor the same guy our Muhammad PBUH banished him, abu bakr send him even further, umar even restricted him more but uthman bought him back, uthman favoured his family, and ummyah became so strong they established the dynasty on the corpse of our beloved hussain and his family. Muawiyah reverted to islam in the end, he was not an elite sahaba. He never deserved to be a caliph. I am just saying the terrible mistakes of abu bakr, umar and uthman cost us so much, imagine after 40 years of muhammad his entire family was slaughtered and his grand daughters were dragged in the streets of damascus. This shows islam was failed. Bad decisions les to this.

Why you want to to believe sahih bukari or other stuff which is written after 200 yrs of islam and all of them are collected from abu huraira who became muslim just 3 yrs before Muhammad death. Hussain got many requests from the people of Kufa to be Muslim ruler. He was advised by many senior sahabas about people of kufa. He believe it was true and left went with his family and others. He had sent an envoy to check claims who was murdered by people of Kufa. Yazid sent an army to prevent Hussain from being leader Not to kill or capture them. Hussain realized the treachery of the people of Kufa, requested that they be exiled ti fight jihad on the borders, return to Makkah or go to Yazid and pledge aligence. Shias in the army of Yazid demanded Hussain and the rest surrender as captives which he refused a c slaughter happened
Yazid cursed those responsible and regretted this happened but didn't take action against those responsible. He honor the remaining family of Huisain and allowed them to return to madinah.
