There is a HUGE Filipino population where I live in San Diego so I forget that not everyone else has access to the food and culture like I do. My family is Mexican but growing up we always ate pancit, adobo, and halo halo. There's an entire neighborhood we refer to as Little Manila because 90% of the stores are Filipino chains or mom and pop stores. I'll never forget the day we got our Jollibee. Ha
+Angelica Pickles yeah I sometimes I don't realize that as well. I live in the bay area, where there's a very good mix of cultures. I sometimes forget that people have a different perspective and outlook on life just because they have not experienced other cultures.
omg can u tell me the area? i just moved to az from germany.. and i wanna check out san diego since its not to far ^_^ i went a visited my friend there already for a weekend but tottally forgot about jollebeeeee :( wahh... but next time when i have more time... i wanna chech it all out :D that be great if u could tell me a geberal area where to find some pinoy stores... are some close to jollebee?
I just realized there are filipino communities all throughout san diego. I grew up in Paradise Hills so I was a frequent customer to the Filipino stores in National City. There is a Jollibee in National City and I think they opened another one in Chula Vista. I have friends who live in Mira Mesa where there is also a large Filipino community. If you check out National City, my favorite spots are Tita's Kitchen, sweets from Goldilocks, pan de sal from Valerio's Bakery, Erlinda's for halo-halo, Ching's for hopia, chicken skin at Chic-Boy, and there's even a Red Ribbon in national city too! You definitely need to come back to San Diego, and come hungry!
yaayy.. thats so awesome :D thank you so much, thats a lot of help.. im sooo definitely be back when its beach weather xD
+Chuck yu Farley ok.. now im hungry xD hehe.... but i dont care for balut hehe... im to german for that... lechoonnn my favoriteeeee.... yaaa. but for now. im happy with san diego.. i can just drive there..and its still more than it was in germany.... its hard to find something there..in all germany..i think there are only two pinoy restaurants.... if u want real pinoy stuff u go to the pinoy parties and meetings hehe...
Like! and enjoy how you two sees things. I'm a Filipino and glad that through foreigners, it makes us more understand that we are friendly and loving people. We like to connect and communicate, and maybe that's why we are the social media capital of the world; and in a town looks like every people know each other.
+Rodel Bayan It can be neat to see your own culture through the eyes of an outsider, glad you enjoyed! We found people in The Philippines to be wonderful, as I'm sure you know! -E
thank you sooooo much guys. I've been waiting my butt off for this video, and it was well worth the wait. great footage!
+Shannon Nguyen (Shay) Yay! Glad you enjoyed! -E
The last part when you guys told something about love made me tear up. I've been to few countries but the Philippines is what i miss the most. Filipinos are family-oriented people, like we still consider the cousins of our cousins our cousins or smth like that LOL. Being someone who also lives in Japan like you guys, i totally can relate on what you said. I miss my cousins, and aunts and uncles and everyone. :( Can't wait for the next part.
+Yuya Hayasaki Yea, the warmth of the people was so obvious! Such a nice change! -E
40:03 that was funny.
Your comment in the end is really heartwarming. I'm glad that you felt the love in the city. Filipino friends & families kinda love to hang out in parks & even malls to spend some quality time with each other. It's what we call "family bonding", haha! You should visit the beautiful malls in the Philippines & you would instantly notice the "LOVE" that you're talking about, haha! Welcome to the Philippines!😘💐🎉
It’s 2018 and am still watching this like it’s the first time.
i visited the philippines a couple times in my youth (i'm filipino) and you're right there is a lot of love in the country. filipinos are hospitable and warm people and you can tell from the way they treat foreigners. i loved this vlog i can't wait to see what's next!!
+VRRV Absolutely true! Wonderful people! -E
Today is my day off and I was really hoping for your Phillipines series! Thanks for delivering!
+Susan Shipman Incredible timing! Enjoy! -E
that was great. can't wait for part 2. love the longer videos
+rockonblackops777 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! -E
I'm a Filipino currently living here in the U.S and after I saw this video makes me feel like I'm in Manila. I can really feel the vibe, especially the noise of the vehicles, the people and everything! You guys should come visit the Philippines again and make 100 videos. 😂 There's still a lot of places you should explore like Samal Island, Enchanted River, Siquijor, Siargao, little Africa, and many more! 😍
+2NE1 Fan Yea, we were just there for a few weeks so we barely scratched the surface! -E
Woo I have something to look forward to watching when I get home! Love your vids!
+Kyle Dewett Hope you enjoy! -E
Been waiting for this!!! yay!
+Kenzo Shibakariki Yay!
Love you guys! ;)
The flower that Kyde likes is called "plumeria" but locally we call it "kalachuchi." When I was little, my mom planted kalachuchis in front of our house and when its in full bloom, the sweet fragrant just spreads all over the house. She grew the pink variant ones instead of the white ones. Glad you guys are enjoying my homeland. I hope you two get to visit more areas outside of Manila because that's where you really get to experience the beauty and unique culture of the Philippines! More power to your channel :3
+Kai M. Thanks! We did visit other parts of The Philippines during our 3 week stay. Loved it! -E
Kyde and Eric Awesome! Looking forward to the next vlogs taken here in the Philippines. Also, I am now a subscriber =D
Hey guys big fan of your videos! When I got phone notification of video 1, I became excited. The preview video looked great, the first video was entertaining and educational. And as always you guys leave me feeling hungry 😃
+Antonio Robles Perfect! Glad it was enjoyable and educational! -E
I love you guys, Eric and Kyde! Thank you for sharing your experiences. Love your subtle enthusiasm. I hate overly gushy people! Your commentaries are informational and sublety humorous. Can't wait to view the remaining 6 episodes of your Philippine trip.
Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy the rest of the Philippines series! -E
Awesome footage, thanks! Can't wait for part 2 :)
+Epic14Games You are welcome! Got some Tokyo stuff coming up before part 2, but it is on it's way! -E
Kyde and Eric Sweet!
i'm loving how open you both are to exploring things that most people would maybe not appreciate as much. i find myself anticipating the next videos and hoping that you made friends while you were here and that you found even more things and experiences to like in our country. thank you for sharing this. :)
+kitchied Awesome to hear! Thank you very much! -E
I was just there in March so its interesting to see your take on this amazing country. I stayed at the same hostel too... the dorm was not so great either, but cheap at least. I found later that there are tons of love hotels in Manila that are stupid cheap.
The North Cemetery was one of the most eye opening moments for me. So many homeless people have moved into their family plots and converted them into little apartments. I'm surprised you didn't mention the community there. Initially I was shocked to see people living in those conditions. But then I walked through and families wanted to talk to me and I was even invited into one of the mausoleums for lunch (I declined). I was so touched by how giving and sweet everyone there was despite how hard life must be for them.
The Bilimbi fruit in that juice is related to starfruit, its much smaller and more sour but its supposedly very healthy. That little lime is a Calimansi. I love those little limes!
+Jared Rydelek You know when we were in the North Cemetery there were people around but maybe the time of day or something kept most people inside or away from "home" because it wasn't as lively as we had expected it to be. Still fascinating though. -E
That's strange! I hope nobody kicked them out.
+Kyde and Eric have a old calculator at hand to haggle prices with the locals just type the amount you want to pay they will type down the amount they want if it's too much just walk away more than likely they will accept the offer you made because you didn't speak to them showed no emotions just numbers
finally! haha . nice video!. Cannot wait for the next part!
+HIRO MIZUHASHI Glad you enjoyed! -E
Awesome video, I always enjoy your guys videos especially the long ones!
+Alexanderthagreat1 Thanks!

Finally settling down to watch these after seeing part four uploaded.
Guh your videos are SO addictive.
+Nathus Dorkus Haha, glad you enjoy them! Don't enjoy them too much! Haha. -E
+Kyde and Eric I WILL ENJOY THEM TO THE EXTREME.
I'm a Filipino myself but Manila is one of my least favorite cities. But after watching this travelogue, I might as well give Manila a chance.
+Dheon Mark (Prokopio) they didnt even show the nice parts of Manila. This is all old Manila. If you go to the main central business district- Makati, Ortigas, or Fort Bonifacio, you will be blown away.
manila is my favorite place. manila is just underrated
#GiveManilaAChance
+Dheon Mark (Prokopio) I feel the same way.
+Xian Elias Lim Actually, it is Metropolitan Manila that is composed of 16 different cities including the capital city of Manila. Metro Manila is also known as the National Capital Region (NCR). It is true that a lot of good developments have been happening in Metro Manila & the Philippines in general. The people who have not visited the Philippines in the last 10 years will be pleasantly surprised. If only, people will give it a chance & rediscover Manila & the Philippines as a whole. :-)
Relationship goals.. and just overall life goals: be like Kyde and Eric! Looking forward to the next video, guys!
+EricAroundTheWorld Haha, you got one of our names already, you are on your way! -E
I just started following your vlog adventures and I would say it's very very good! It's very informative as well as entertaining. Even on a budget, your backpacking happy go lucky trips are authentic giving your honest reviews on food, people and it's culture. Most vlogs out there are on fancy hotels, beaches, and restaurants, but you guys went to explore the other side of the world. really appreciate it. keep on exploring!
+Master Joey Glad you found us and enjoy the videos! We like to do our best to stay in cheap "local" places and much prefer local food to expensive food in "classy" restaurants. We want to learn about what it's actually like to live in a country as much as we possibly can! We loved The Philippines, hope we can return sometime! -Eric
Great videos. It's a shame you don't have more subscribers.
I could watch hours and hours and hours of your philippine vacation.
+Ken W. Good news, there quite a few more hours of Philippines footage coming! -E
As always, a great video. Thanks :)
+JohnG228 GLad you enjoyed! -E

+FDSeoul San Diego Yea, haha, we don't have any idea how many episodes this will cut into. -Eric
The flower you've found in the cemetery is called Calachuchi and it smells nice way. There's lots of them in our backyard back in my childhood.
Yay! The start of the Philippines vlogs. Great first one. It's soo long :D I'm not complaining about that ONE bit...lol... I know you guys think we're weird for liking the longer ones..... ^_^ Manila seems like such an interesting city. Soo much history and stuff, and yet it seems soo chaotic and crazy too. Thanks guys, look forward to the next one :)
+keandric 2 Happy you enjoyed it! Not sure if they will all be quite this long, but we do have a lot of footage! I aim for more like 45 minutes, but I felt like this one just worked better as a really long video. -E
It's 2019 and I'm replaying this again. Love your long videos 😍 Hope you guys would come back here in the Philippines!
it's not very often I sit down and take over an hour of my day to watch two strangers on a journey.. but when i do it's something special. Come to Ireland! :)
+Dan Fox Haha, glad we could hold your attention! I hope we can come to Ireland someday, it sounds so foreign to us after so much time in Asia! Would be a wonderful adventure! -E
my goodness, the video is long, but you guys manage to let me watch until the end! good job..

+Caitlind McCarthy Awesome! -E
+Kyde and Eric Apologies for spamming your vlog with comments. It kept telling me that there was an error posting my comment. I've deleted all of the extras!
+Caitlind McCarthy No problem! Something is wrong with RUclips, everyone is posting multiple times all of a sudden. Fun for my inbox, haha! -E

Kyde and Eric I actually haven't been to most of the places you went to in Manila. I'm not a big fan of that city :)
+touchmenot films Haha, that was the same vibe we got from most people who lived outside of Manila. -E
Kyde and Eric haha it's true. You guys have always been very observant.
1 hour 16 mins? Gonna go grab some snacks first.
I'm so glad you guys posted your video. I'm so glad you guys visited the Philippines. It seems like you guys enjoyed. There is so much more to see in the Philippines hope you guys will visit again. I live in the states but my parents are from there.

+roni 1800 (raninormal) Yea, we have been back in Japan for nearly a month! Part two will be next month, we have some more stuff lined up beforehand! -E
Thanks for the wonderful video. was following you guys because of Japan but your take on our country just reminded me how we take for granted the everyday things we have here. fresh eyes uncover some of the wonder! cant wait for the next parts!

+rommel bautista Happy you enjoyed! Thanks so much! -E
"I don't know what that means. But, it means that this looks awesome!" Exactly!
Thanks for your videos guys. I really enjoy them. Kudos on using the term 'little people' rather than other more derogatory terms that unfortunately are common. Safe travels.
+Andrea Haha, we had a long discussion about the proper nomenclature to use! Glad we figured out the right one!
I had to save this hour long Kyde and Eric video for the weekend, also, I was surprised how much it seemed you liked the Philippines
+SuperUltraRollingBomberThunderCorporation The Philippines is a great place, no wonder we enjoyed it! -E

+Jennifer Keller Philippines changed a lot now.
Woke up to a foot of snow, then this. Yay! (Also you guys totally got klav kalash in the beginning)
That amazing flower is called a frangipani! we have them everywhere here in Australia, or Sydney as least :)
+PopcornAndPolaroids Yep, it's often called a Plumeria in many places as well.
thank you for exploring the Philippines! I am always checking on your channel and I was surprised you already pushed through with your Philippines travel I remembered during one of your Q&As you said that you will visit Philippines :) be safe always in your travel and Godbless
+Joele Panilawon The Philippines was great! We will have a lot more footage coming over the next few months of that trip. Glad you have stuck around since that Q&A, it's been a couple of years! -E
I enjoyed seeing my birth country of the Philippines. I was born in Olongapo / Subic Bay U.S.Navy base area. Although, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm looking forward to the other islands that the two of you visited in the Philippines. In case, the two of you don't know. The Philippines has combining of 7,701 islands.
+Glen Tolosa Yea, to visit them all would be pretty difficult! -E
The flower from the cemetary is called Plumeria, it smells wonderful!
You guys rock! I absolutely love watching your videos and enjoying your company. It's like I kinda know you :) I chatted with you after watching you in Vietnam - I was so addicted that I visited myself and have since returned there 3 more times. I love Ho Chi Minh City - the energy is incredible. I also enjoyed the central south coast region Mu nai and Phan Thiet and DaNang... awesome beaches. My next trip - the Philippines, of course :) Cheers from Canada
Oh wow, amazing! I'm jealous of all your trips to Vietnam! -E
I don't why i ended up enjoying the whole video... but this one is great. I enjoyed watching you guys.
Haha, glad to hear! Thanks! -E
i really like your vlogs guys.... so happy that you've visited the philippines... hoping to see more videos...
+Erwin Aris Gentiles Thanks, glad you enjoyed! A new Philippines video will be up later this week! -E
+Kyde and Eric That wall city (INTRAMUROS) you went was already there since 1800
Waiting for part 2! Do it, Do it !!! Thanks
+CORD NOWELL Working on it! -E
Thank you for sharing! I can't wait for the next part.... Oh by the way, Andrew Zimmern of Travel Channel had the exact same ice cream sandwich that kyde had!
+eiggiboy Oh nice, that sandwich is famous! Hhaa. -E
The chopped salad at the beginning of the video looks to be tabouli.
Yes I say the same agreed !!!!
you all are having fun
+ray glenn Yep!
All of your videos are long like it's recorded that way to document and kinda immortalize your travel where one / you can just click to RUclips and watch the whole thing again unfold right before your eyes for a trip down memory lane. And, that is totally ingenious!
Yea, we are looking forward to watching them again when we are old dudes! -E
hahahah...nobody gets old specially you fun folks
14:04 Frangipani (Plumeria). Often found in tropical gardens, and very common in cemeteries in tropical Asia. I'm delighted to see that you went "graving" on your first full day!
+CNVideos Haha, yea, gravesites became a theme for the trip! -E
hope you visit Bohol Cebu and Palawan (elnido and coron) :) oh I miss Philippines Camiguin and Calaguas.. one of my top fave place :)
great videos guys tnx for it... next part please :)
+Ugly King Gotta get it edited! Haha! -E
There are varieties of that train card, there is a single ride (the one you have) and theres also a card you can top-up. Since there are two train companies (mrt and lrt) which uses different cards, sometimes it makes sense to only buy a card for when you ride.
Its called pancit palabok 1:10.00, one of my favorite, best to eat during breakfast with hot pandesal (bread). Bus going to Banaue, home of rice terraces. Other best place to visit bohol chocolate hills. Its good to visit Intramuros on weekdays, while weekends to mall :)
Great vlog ..love you guys
Great video and great review of Manila. The white flower in the cemetery is called Magnolia. They have them in Alabama. Makes me want to go to the Intramuros on my next trip home. The love that u felt in the end is because Filipinos are very family oriented. Family is everything. Even if u don't have rice on the table as long as u have your family with u. Life is great. They like to have family bonding on their free time as much as possible.
+Mari443Garrett1 Glad you enjoyed the video! We already miss that love we felt around us in The Philippines! -E
3:00 that's tabbouleh, its like a salad dish. This is really interesting. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
That amazing smelling flower is a Frangipani if i'm not wrong, awesome video guys, I always love seeing both of your point of views on places around the world!!!
+Mung Awesome to hear! Thanks! -E
Can't wait for next part, that bike ride near the end was intense. I think I'd be on the edge of my seat all the time haha xD
+PumpkinPuff Haha, yea, that was fun! -E
I came across Part 3 of your Philippines adventure and am now watching Part 1. I really enjoy your style of vlogging/editting--you make your experiences really intriguing and as a viewer wanting more! I love how adventurous you guys are with the food! I'm filipino, but I always need to know exactly what I'm eating before I eat it. That noodle dish was palabok and the crunchy stuff is crushed up chicharon, like Kyde not a fan of either and agree that it is very bland.
+GhilsaJane Haha, glad you found us! It's really cool when people who live in the country we are making videos about enjoy them! Thanks for the message! -E
I really enjoy your adventures and as a foody I enjoy all the different cuisines makes want to travel :) thank you for sharing your adventures will be looking forward to your next videos
+Chris Taylor Thanks so much! Enjoy! -E

+Pat Duenas Haha, we ate there at some point! -E
the food you eat Kyde is what we called Pancit palabok.noodles with egg and srhimps and gole like sauce.i love it.
Excellent!
+Expat N Training Thanks! -E
I really enjoy your videos. You never disappoint. It was strange though that from all the food you've tried, nothing looked too amazing aside from that Mac PB ice cream!. Waiting for more videos outside the city where we'll see good nature and maybe better authentic food!
+ghaida h The food was good, but by appearance it's not the most exciting stuff! We did enjoy it though. -E
Superb form on that cartwheel Eric. 6.7/10
+Luis Girón Thanks man. I'm a pro. -E
Hi next time you visit and ride the train system, you can get a ticket and load it up in any amount just like you said
We actually have a stored value card for the light rail transit trains.
