You guys are great. I am a Vietnamese American. I've only been back to Vietnam in 2011 since I left in 1979 on a boat. No guides, no pre-concieved ideas of the food, super adventurous. I only wish my American wife was the same. The people there are very nice, thanks for sharing your experience.

I just happened to come across your videos in Vietnam, I skimmed through them and enjoyed watching them. I'll spend more times watching when I have time. So far, Watching you guys eating the local foods brings back a lot of childhood memories of mine. I was born and grew up there until 18 years old and my family moved to the State. I'll be 44 years old next week. Anyways, It fascinates to see you guys traveled to Vietnam without a tour guide. I wish I was there to show you which foods are great and the ingredients in the foods you ate. Until next time, take care!

Paul Tran Thanks, glad you are enjoying! We tend to just go travel places solo quite often and always enjoy it. It's still fun even if we don't know exactly what we are eating, that's part of the adventure! -Eric

Hi guys! I can't help but watching your video again. The soup you were having at Cyclo Resto you mentioned is called "Opo Squash Soup" in Vietnamese "Canh Bau". It's a very common soup to eat with rice and other protein dish like pork.

The "lemonade" you were drinking was probably lime preserved in salt, they add sugar then pour club soda to mix. I like to make mine with carbonated water. The shredded dry looking stuff in your baguette was chicken! It's sort of like chicken jerky, topped with cilantro and green onions. Seeing you there really makes me miss my cold country. Hope I'll be back soon.

Eric...at about 1:01. The orange egg you thought it looks scary is actually a very fresh egg. It's a part of a tradition dish called Thit Kho Hot Vit. Its a must have dish in New Year for every Vietnamese family. Its like tradition turkey dinner on Thanksgiving here. The egg after boiled is slow cooked in a pot with million other ingredients for about 5 hrs or more until it absorbs flavors and hence changes color from white to orange. I bet that egg tasted better than a boiled egg. Remember the name and try that dish, I'm sure you'll like it.

I stumbled onto your video here and really enjoyed it. I just left Viet Nam in mid March this year and already missed it very much. Can't wait to go back there again next year. In the mean time, I surely will enjoy your videos. Thank you to both of you.
The drink you had there actually is one of the popular drink called tonic-soda-lime-sugar (soda chanh đường in Vietnamese).
You first mix the lime and sugar mixture well to dissolve all the sugar. Then you add the tonic soda to the mixture before you pour the whole thing into the glass of ice as you did. It's a great guess. The different between the tonic soda and the water version is the carbonic taste reduces the sweetness of this drink.

K&E: If you ever consider visiting north Vietnam again, I highly recommend Móng Cái. The city is connected to China's Dong Xing by a bridge. You can walk across the border where you two can be standing in two countries physically and still holding hands.

Mong Cai has bus service to Ha Long Bay. Yet, around the bay you'd find many fresh sea food markets. You can get the fresh fish and have the local restaurants cook to your desire.

Anywhere around Ha Long Bay is for pricy tour groups. One time I stayed at Tien An in a low budget place. I had to show the hostel owner how to test and reconnect the Internet and Wi-Fi. Now the twist, at 3am next day morning, long howling and dismal squeaking woke me up. Little did I know the hostel is right across from a pig butchery. I guess Vietnamese love freshly cut pork.

When Pho is served, it's good to eat. You don't have to put anything in it if you don't like but putting the stuffs on your table will enhance the flavor and taste. Whatever you do, don't put sugar in it. It's like... you don't put BBQ sauce in a bowl of chicken noodle soup.

I'm just starting to watch this. I'm at 9.27. First of all the haircut. I don't know if you put some color into it but that looks good. I am doing this gesture with my hand to pull the front hair away from my eye when I watch it. The country looks noisy but nice. Lots of raw veggies, hope the hygiene standard is high. My first impression was good, scoters excluded which drives me nuts with noise.

Kyde - you dropped your laptop in the ocean? What kind of badass laptop is this?? Oh , and hearing the prices of the foods you were eating - were you in like District 1 in Hi Chi Min? Like, really tourist-y? Anyway - I've seen video one and two, and I love them!! I'm going to Vietnam in January 2016, so Im doing "research" on youtube :-D

Hi you guys, as always enjoying your video.... Love Asia as much as you do. You are finding the way Capri Sonne is spelled rather funny, it is the right way to spell it, the drink was invented in Heidelberg, Germany. When Heinz bought the licence to produce it, they changed the name in Capri Sun for a lot of countries, but in Europe as in Asia, the Original name is still on the package. I know it is not important, but now Eric can use this story to impress someone else, right?! LOL Kyde's hair looks really nice, by the way!

I think you Guys need to write a book. I started watching your 140 day 18 countries videos. I was wondering after you did all that traveling then you came back here and did america what was that like. I thought it was funny when you said your car went thru a war zone and you said Ohio. I about died laughing cause thats about what our car looks like. any how a book would be nice explaining your beginnings and how you got interested in traveling or even just a commentary video after watching your ealier videos to now. and how seasoned you are compared to then. Having a unscripted travel show would awesome. Cause you guys see and do stuff at a street level where more travel videos are pre done and edited in such a way you dont see the nitty gritty. such as jeruslaum. and something i noticed is that I do find you guys more at home in asia countries. like how burma turned out to be more welcoming than I expected. Anyhow cant wait till new vietnam videos. Oh I love that place you went to in korea. you know the sex mueseum and the place with all the falic statues. love kydes facial expressions there.
    catch ya later.

Notre Dame means 'Our Lady' in French. So basically, there are tons and tons of Notre Dames around France and across the world. Notre Dame de Paris is only the most famous of many. There is Notre Dame D'Amiens, Notre Dame de Metz, etc.

so you guys complained a lot about the cold water situation throughout the whole trip... But do you know that you need to switch the heaters/boilers on ahead of time? They are usually the white boxes inside the bathroom mounted above the shower. They usually take 20 mins to heat up and make sure to turn them off afterward.
