Flying beyond borders: China's homegrown ARJ21 jetliner delivered to first overseas customer

- A domestically-made regional jetliner, the ARJ21-700, was delivered to its first overseas operator, TransNusa Airlines, an Indonesian airline company, on Sunday.
It has 30 percent more interior space than other regional airliners, and is able to provide a more comfortable flight experience for the passengers.
Founded in 2005 and headquartered in the Indonesia capital, Jakarta, TranNusa Airlines is a low-cost airline company. It mainly operates home and abroad routes to and from regions near Indonesia.

Homegrown LOL. It’s a DC-9.
It's not homegrown. The complex task of wing design was done by Antonov in Ukraine. It looks like a DC9 because it kind of is. The Chinese likely used tooling for the MD80 to build this aircraft's fuselage. The avionics are American. Engines are also American, General Electric. The landing gear is by Liebherr (German/Swiss). Should I go on? This is not a home grown aircraft. In some ways it's more like a kit aircraft you buy, but far more complex. Despite this, the ARJ21 is important for the Chinese, because it helps the Chinese break into the aviation industry. Hopefully China will be able to not only produce home grown civil aircraft in the future, but also learn how to innovate in this field. Right now, this is not the case.
so what? The question is to have or not have. Parts can be substituted later. Knowing how the west and USA like to weaponized everything it's a smart move by China.
Of course China can made everything on their own. No problem for that. China has a strategy for commercialize comac around the world. It's easier to obtain international flying certificate from established foreign aerospace industry. Joint venture is the best way. Even Boeing or Airbus are doing the same e.g. Airbus using America engines and vice versa. In the near future, C919 will be using their own CJ1000A engine. ARJ21 using CJ500A engine and C929 using CJ2000A. All core technologies will be localized.
