Hey Noel. Let me explain what "rabbit milk" is. The milk you were drinking was produced by a company called "White Rabbit" (In Chinese there is the word "white" in front of "rabbit", I'm surprised that they don't keep the "white" in English). White Rabbit is a lengendary local brand in Shanghai specialized in producing milk candies. We locals in Shanghai have a lot of affection for this brand.

For context: there’s two terminals at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Noel went to T1, rather than T2. If he was aware, the Taxi would have dropped him directly at T2, and there’s no need for a metro ride. A majority of the flights to bigger tier cities like Chengdu always depart from T2. Likewise, you can choose your seating on China Eastern if you download their App and Pre-check. As a foreigner in China, your seat is granted but subject to passport verification on arrival. With regards to the “Rabbit Milk” please note that Rabbit is a “candy” brand and the milk is a marketing collaboration between a milk company and a candy company. It is NOT real rabbit milk. 😂

That’s a video that really keeps up with the trend. Hongqiao Airport has been in operation for several decades, dating back from the KMT era. It was the main international gateway of Shanghai until the beginning of 21st century. The terminal 1 is the old one, it mainly serves cross-border flights to Seoul, Tokyo, HongKong, Macau and Taipei, and the low cost carrier Spring Airlines’ domestic flights. Terminal 2 was built at the beginning of the 10s, it is more modern and serves domestic flights within mainland China. Two terminals are at the opposite side of the runways, and are connected by metro and buses. This is a bit similar to Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport.

10:40 - When the C919 was launched, some of the Western Media discredited it by saying that its not entirely made in China because many of its parts are not made in China. What they
didn't tell you was that even Boeing planes are not 100% USA, they relied on parts from over 500 differnt companies from countries around the world including China.
Yes, engines currently used are from France/US but China is already developing their own 1000A series for civilian aircrafts and these will be ready within a few years.
And for those people who said that the C919 has a bleak future because it will never get FAA or Europe certification, the C919 wasn't design to fly over long distantces, it was designed for the China and South East Asia markets so even without the Western markets it still has a bright future.

Also with cabin moisture so high I’m just curious about corrosion on components as I believe the fuselage is composite. And it would be cool if you had a meter to measure cabin altitude pressure to compare aircraft to aircraft. Just another gadget for you to carry. Safe travels until the next one ☝️

All the other plane builders are outsourcing the same way, that French -German LEAP engine for example, is the same as the one used on the Boeing 737 MAX, avionics ditto, They came from long established makers of precision instruments, just like everyone else's. Why it is problematic in this instance, and not in any other?

I would definitely try a flight on the C919, but it's unlikely to be flying in Europe in the near future and I have no plans to visit China any time soon, although I would like to. Getting a visa is not always straightforward.
At first glance, the cabin looked to be a little more spacious at the front and rear; in my experience it's more normal to have one toilet at the front and two at the back on A320s or 737s, so the Comac has an extra one at the front. As Noel says, the aircraft is constructed from parts manufactured in countries all around the world, but then so are Boeings and Airbuses, so nothing unusual there. Nice one Noel, the new Texan!

Boeing have generally made do with two of each sensor (don't say 737-MAX).

    • @jonathanpusar5931

It doesn’t really serve a competitive advantage vs the MAX or NEO as it’s been in development hell for awhile now.
Why order a Comac outside China when it’s competitors are more efficient? They are going to massively subsidize these if they are going to be successful. Which they might do as part of their belt and road initiative. Even then…an operator is going to have to use very specific parts for this aircraft and knowing it can’t fly it in Western countries.
A lot of operational question marks too and always long term reliability and safety questions for a manufacturer that’s making a new plane (it’s last jet was ripped from an MD80 so they’re untested on new designs).
Right now a lot of government sponsored banks have ‘orders’ to inflate the actual number of customers for the c919…

I guess you will always fly the 737 max even though hundreds of people have died in it and some reports said that it was aerodynamically unbalanced and depends on sensors to constantly detect and balance the lift.
I for one believes that sensors and computers do occasionally fail especially if you have to use it continously. I'm a coward, I will not fly the 737.

Long time subscriber but rarely posting comments, what a great feeling to see you visit Shanghai which is my hometown for a flight on this new plane. Hope you will be able to visit Shanghai more and post more videos about Chinese aviation 😊

If a Boeing plane is broken into pieces it will be found not 100% parts are made in USA. Can it still be said it is only half made in USA? Or even cars, phones, any domestic appliances.....

The relative humidity thing is really enticing me to try this plane (and I bet the humidity is locally made)...

I always enjoy your videos (especially when you were the naughty school child on that Air India Dreamliner). This report, moreover, was an extra treat, as I have been very curious about the C919. What a difference between this aircraft and China's first narrow-body airliner, the Y-10 (also built in Shanghai). That plane, built circa 1980, resembled a Boeing 720 - outmoded for sure, but a plane with a lot of character. I admit I was indifferent about the C919 at first, but this airplane has really grown on me - even more so after this enjoyable video.

Thanks for posting. The noise level and vibration in C919 appears to be lower than in a 1 aisled airplane of similar types such as a 737 or a A320.

I'd rather a little noise than a lack of safety

@@alansmith4655 To be honest, this was my mental state when I flew on the Ryanair 737MAX recently. I was in a tense state the whole time. As a working engineer, I am very worried about Boeing led by an accountant. I watched the development of the 737max. The work documentary, the entire R&D process focuses on cost reduction, competition with Airbus, and management’s intimidation and threats against engineers. It seems that the old 737-800 can reassure me more. For a company like Boeing to lose its safety credibility is very scary. At least for now, as long as I have the choice, I will never buy a Ryanair 737max flight again, even if it will be much cheaper, the whole flight process will make me very nervous.
