I usually don’t have time flying domestically when visiting china but hopefully next time gonna finally try the c919. Would love to have it in my flighty collection haha
The CFM LEAP-1C engines that power the Comac C919 are a joint product of General Electric (GE) and Safran Aircraft Engines, through their partnership CFM International. So until it uses a Chinese made engine, I wouldn’t call the aircraft Chinese.
So Apple phones is not American, Boeing is not American. Mind you it wouldn't be long with your assumption as there is a new Chinese made engine in the pipeline. Check it out 😉
Apple is an American phone because its chip is American. Huawei has made significant progress in developing phones with chips made in China. I am raising the bar high for China in the commercial aircraft industry. A similar competition from Russia is seen in the MC-21, which uses the PD-14 engine, made in Russia. While the PD-14 is less efficient than the Pratt and Whitney engine in the 737 MAX, it is still made in Russia. Russia has also become the third country, after the USA and France, to develop its own power distribution system. Therefore, Russia seems closer than China to producing a commercial aircraft.
In the mid-70's, the term "Universal Japanese Motorcycle" was used to describe motorcycles made in Japan that had the same basic configuration. The same could be said of the A320, 737, C919, these are ubiquitous "Universal Narrow-body Aircraft"s. Same engines and avionics, similar sub-systems and roughly the same size. Some are more efficient than others, the C919 the least. From a business perspective, it comes down to pricing, maintenance network and Jet-A fuel hedging. So the answer to your question is an indifferent "YES". The average passenger blindfolded couldn't tell the difference. As long as the drinks are free, who cares.
@@forgotmypassport I am not an engineer, but aero and weight sounds right. The C919 has the C version of the LEAP engine, Airbus has 'A' and Boeing has 'B'. How that effects fuel consumption I have no idea
I was surprised when I tried the Juneyao Airline for the first time from PVG to HKG a couple of months ago. I booked this airline simply because of it's timing fit in my busy slot. I skipped lunch because of an extended business meeting so I have to rush to the airport. Once I boarded the flight I asked a pass-by female cabin crew whether they serve meals onboard. She was busy with the boarding routines and answered me with a yes. Then she returned to me after 2 steps away and asked me whether I was hungry, I answered "yes, a bit" with a smile. She said "give me a second and I'll get you something to eat first. A minute later she returned with a handful of packed snacks like peanuts and biscuits. The snacks made my stomach felt better, but her attentiveness really touch me.
What a nice experience. And a beautiful example of the generally excellent service I’ve experienced when flying within China and other Asian countries. At least on full service carriers.
The cabin looks pleasant and airy on the C919. AB320 and B737 are just depressing when it comes to economy seats, and I always fly on Turkish airlines between Baghdad and Stockholm, but it is the cheapest and shortest route...
These are couple of ARJ21 at 6:20, I believe this is the another made in China aircraft that you mentioned(fun fact:they changed the name of the aircraft to C909 last month)
C909, really? That‘s interesting, but it makes sense I‘d say. In episode 5 or 6 I‘ll fly with another Chinese built aircraft, but it’s not going to be the ARJ21/C909 ;-)
Wow nice aviation channel. I neednt to see the drama fight... I want to watch flight review, not fight review 😅 Bravo on reviewing C919 at that detail.
Having travelled on Chinese 320km/h trains and found them to be so smooth comfortable and safe, I would have no qualms about flying on a C919. Beats the 737MAX any day, a plane I have never travelled on and never will if I can avoid it.
Thanks for your video on the C919. I wish the Chinese aviation industry luck with designing, building and operating their indigenous airliner. P.S. Out of curiosity, can I please ask what Bluetooth microphone you use (and can be seen) in your video? It sounds great! Regards
My pleasure. Sure, it’s a DJI mic 2, that came with my Osmo Pocket 3. on this trip to China it’s the first time I‘m using a mic, and I‘m still figuring out the best settings.
At 7:37, do you know why the Chinese description of what is in the cocktails was printed twice? Just curious. Good, unbiased review. Thanks for sharing.

Ryanair may buy however the intensity of using C919 is still a question. Any plane should always be airborne to make money. However, evert step starts from small ones.
The title sounded like he is the pilot flying the China Eastern Comac C919. Flying the ...., Flying with or Flying in would sound different in my opinion. That was why I clicked the video because I was so intrigued by the title.
C919 is assembled in China. The plane is combination of foreign parts. Even domestic engines WS-20 (whole family WS-10/15/20 is modular construction [only Chinese idea] however not Chinese design) Chinese still lock know-how even to build the engines, Ukrainian engineers [from Motor Sich] build it for Chinese (for almost 20 years Chinese alone couldn't do IT). Ukrainian engineers from Antonov designed it and build also Y-20 transport plane. Chinese engineers are learning, but still long way to go .... It is big step for Chinese, however it is not Chinese design plane ...
As you may know, Mitsubishi--a veteran aerospace manufacturer--recently threw in the towel after spending 15+ years on their commercial aircraft program. How did COMAC succeed where Mitsubishi did not? Do you have any insights on that? Thank you.
@ look forward more of your travelogues. Overcoming the language and cultural barriers to glimpse China up close without the filter of Western media bias is refreshing.
A country that built their own space station all from scratch and getting no help at all, a country that has the most advanced AI, 5G, EVs, and high speed rails, a country that is accelerating in semiconductors like no one has ever seen. I will choose China made plane C919
I am terrified of flying on an airplane that's why I don't travel. On a car if the car suddenly comes to a stall there's a high chance of survival, but on an airplane/jet if the engine suddenly stops in the air, the chance of survival is very slim.

Really? I need to check him out then :)
@@forgotmypassportken ist auch ein deutsche 😂😂
Not at all.
he is from Swiss.
Wow, very nice plane with best service 🥰🥰🥳🥳💯💯👍👍
Very interesting feedback, thank you Stephen. Do you happen to know why the C919 lacks on fuel efficiency? Is it the aerodynamics? weight?
@@forgotmypassport I am not an engineer, but aero and weight sounds right. The C919 has the C version of the LEAP engine, Airbus has 'A' and Boeing has 'B'. How that effects fuel consumption I have no idea
C for COMAC, B for Boeing and A for Airbus.... Makes perfect sense😊@@stephenc6955
@@forgotmypassport some said the Leap1C is heavier than the 1A and 1B.
In Western countries like Europe, you will get deficient services with high prices and in the East, you will get high services at low price ;)
China, congratulations. You are a role model.
This plan looks amazing. Well done China 🇨🇳 ❤
@@forgotmypassport is it the ma60?(just guessing)
Yes!! :))
The soup the narrator grimaced over was actually very nutritious traditional and pretty high end health food made of dried dates, Goji fruit, etc.
Good video
Wow nice aviation channel. I neednt to see the drama fight... I want to watch flight review, not fight review 😅 Bravo on reviewing C919 at that detail.
Thank you very much 😄
Having travelled on Chinese 320km/h trains and found them to be so smooth comfortable and safe, I would have no qualms about flying on a C919. Beats the 737MAX any day, a plane I have never travelled on and never will if I can avoid it.
Thanks for the video! 🕊✈
My pleasure:)
Wow! 3 hours flight and a full meal with welcome drink. A Canada, 5 hours flight only a welcome drinks and some nuts.
I have a great decor idea for the China Eastern lounge, maybe add some pandas to the place?
Next episode: My Honest Review of Flying Chinese Homemade J-20 🎉
That would be fun 😄
Thx for sharing
My pleasure:)
Thank you for good aviation tour
My pleasure :)
At 7:37, do you know why the Chinese description of what is in the cocktails was printed twice? Just curious. Good, unbiased review. Thanks for sharing.
I noticed minor differences between the two hanzi. Not sure if it depicts Chinese Mandarin and/or Cantonese, or the simplified Chinese. I‘m sure many of my viewers know very well. Well seen! And thanks for the kind comment.
@@forgotmypassport Thank you for being unbiased towards China and Chinese people. We need more people with your heart in China. Have a good weekend!
One is traditional Chinese and the other is simplify Chinese as use in China now
@@英國阿建 thank you 🙏
Ryanair may buy however the intensity of using C919 is still a question. Any plane should always be airborne to make money. However, evert step starts from small ones.
Good info. Thanks
My pleasure
Great flight
8:52 that looks very healthy, I should make a cup of that right now lol.
9:17 lotus root.
You got a subscription from me 👏
Thank you so much🙏
Welcome to China, dear.
Thank you:)
The title sounded like he is the pilot flying the China Eastern Comac C919. Flying the ...., Flying with or Flying in would sound different in my opinion. That was why I clicked the video because I was so intrigued by the title.
Good review
Thank you 🙏
Tbh the business class seat looks sleek
C919 is assembled in China. The plane is combination of foreign parts.
Even domestic engines WS-20 (whole family WS-10/15/20 is modular construction [only Chinese idea] however not Chinese design)
Chinese still lock know-how even to build the engines, Ukrainian engineers [from Motor Sich] build it for Chinese (for almost 20 years Chinese alone couldn't do IT).
Ukrainian engineers from Antonov designed it and build also Y-20 transport plane.
Chinese engineers are learning, but still long way to go ....
It is big step for Chinese, however it is not Chinese design plane ...
Hats off to China.
That vegetable with holes in the middle is lotus root.
Thank you. As much as I love the Asian cuisine, I‘m still very unfamiliar with it (I‘m no gourmet at all)
😂😂😂 you look like you got a new present on christmas morning... big smile
I was just genuinely happy that my travel plans flying the C919 worked out:)
@forgotmypassport I live in China and as a foreigner I can see and hear how the Chinese are very proud of there own airplane.
As you may know, Mitsubishi--a veteran aerospace manufacturer--recently threw in the towel after spending 15+ years on their commercial aircraft program. How did COMAC succeed where Mitsubishi did not? Do you have any insights on that? Thank you.
I would definitely fly on this aircraft whoever owns it.
Yes , I have never flown the Chinese Airlines. But I cannot knock it until I fly it.
Well done China.
The vegetable at 9:12 is a type of lotus root.
Thank you:)
@ hope you enjoyed China. It is amazing how far they have come in such a short amount of time.
@@Blixey-r9z I absolutely did, and I‘m hoping to return again in 2025, while the visa free travel trial is still in place:))

That extensive menu is a headache for the crew :-)

The chairs in the economy section look hard. I wonder if they are comfortable.
Good point, next time I will try them out
A country that built their own space station all from scratch and getting no help at all, a country that has the most advanced AI, 5G, EVs, and high speed rails, a country that is accelerating in semiconductors like no one has ever seen. I will choose China made plane C919

I am terrified of flying on an airplane that's why I don't travel. On a car if the car suddenly comes to a stall there's a high chance of survival, but on an airplane/jet if the engine suddenly stops in the air, the chance of survival is very slim.
Nice seats
I agree:)

Strange.. The meal and drink menu in this flight is better than my recent business class China Eastern between Tokyo/Shanghai. and Shanghai/Kuala Lumpur.
Strange indeed. On my China Eastern flight from Beijing to Vientiane (review coming soon), I had an equally good meal.
I always fly with China own airlines. Better service and maintenance on their aircraft. Vs western maintenance just my opinion being a western AMT .
why do no chinese passenger planes have international certification?
I would like to fly this aircraft like any other aircraft I don’t care about the origin of the aircraft
Amazing
