Here on my channel, I am renovating a 250 year old stone cottage on my property in Normandy, France. By using traditional, low-waste and off-grid methods, I'm aiming to keep the charm and character of this old building, and turn it into a furnished, finished home for family whilst keeping environmental impact as low as possible. There will also be content on living in France, visiting beautiful rural places, hunting for antiques, gardening and more! Hit subscribe if you would like to keep up with my journey, and hit the notification bell to be alerted when we go LIVE where we have a first viewing of the video as it is published with a live chat so I can answer all your questions! See you in Sean's World.
Hey Everyone do a 👍 if you watching
👍🏻
👍
I don’t understand why people don’t hit the like button!
👍👍one thumbs up for each hand.
Always
Your cats have the best life. They are indoor cats that get safe outside time. I also enjoy learning, by watching how you restore an old building and bring it to a habitable state.
Totally agree with you on the insulation. The better insulated a building is, the more comfortable the building is, winter or summer.
Agreed. Also, why put a hold on it? Then it would never get done! 👍
At the beginning of the video, I could tell Sean that you were on top of the world. Your enthusiasm and optimistic view point was totally contagious. I began to feel happy and positive, too. Amazing! There is light at the end of the tunnel. The cottage is getter closer to completion which is going to thrill you but thrill tens of thousands viewers also . Every time you buy timber, I admire what great quality the timbers are. I also notice what clean beige sand you purchase from the local merchant. I imagine it comes from some secluded exotic beach. In no time you will begin work on the last cottage on the end. Tom has picked up on your skills. He actually did very well on the rendering he did. Hello to all. Hello from Yakima, Washington, USA.
Thanks 👌
Go for the window. How cool to look up from bed and see stars.⭐️
Slow and steady gets it done.
Another small win is just so nice, love the sharing of your world! Thank you!
Good you kept the option of a window at the back. All looks nice and secure now ❤
Good to put as much insulation as possible in now plus good idea having a ready to go window installation if needed. Great video thanks Sean
Another step forward 🤗👍
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Love the progress! You're one of 5 that I watch every day. ❤
Wow, thank you!
I enjoy watching the renovations and I've learning a lot . The cottage is starting to take shape. Love seeing the cats.❤
Sean, I love watching you work on the cottage. It’s so satisfying to see it be brought back even better than it was in its heyday. The cats look so happy outside in their play area. I watch all of your videos and like and comment on each one. Hope it helps your algorithms. Xx
Thanks so much!
Thank you Stephanie 😊 it really does help 👍
One step closer to a cozy cottage. Good to have option for window at a later date. The catio is great!🙏❤️
Great steps forward happening with the yard and cottage! I learn a lot from you, thank you!
Great work accomplished today. Good plans for the windows. The additional light will have an impact on the space.
I have my breakfast with Sean every morning in Australia
Good on ya mate
You are making a lot of progress Sean.
Yes window when possible would be great
I vote for the window, always need more light 😂❤❤❤
I agree
No budget at the moment
@@Seans_World your budget must be costed to the last €......!!
Well done Sean. We can see the relief on your face. The progress since Christmas, has been fantastic. 🙂
Yes! Thank you!
Really enjoyable and very interesting. Thank you for your videos. Looking forward to seeing the window going in.x
Back windows would be a bonus, different light angles, different perspective.
You have successfully beaten the install .....and the tricky strutted roof..oh my..!
Next stage is simple..just hauling sheetrock etc UPSTAIRS..LOL
Sean, you’re such a hard worker and a lot of dedication to finishing the cottage, I love your ideas and your awesome family, hi Sam ,beautiful lady 😊🌷🌼🌸
Hi Deborah, thanks so much 😊
Always love watching your videos
Very impressive, Sean. The roof could handle a category 5 storm, no problem! Well done, mate!
Looking good! The cats play yard is cracking me up.. I’m glad my cats don’t watch, they would feel cheated with what we have for them😂
Well done 👏 Sean. 😊
You almost could put in a door and bridge out the back!
😂
What a great place that would be
Great idea to prep for any future window. It will be much easier to install one if you decide to and have the “bones” already in place. Your explanations as you work are very informative. I am a retired grandmother in Canada and will never do those types of jobs but nevertheless I find watching you and your “can do” approach really interesting and enjoyable. Thanks for another great video Sean!
Good work.
Great job Sean! I like that you can add a window later. It would be nice for cross ventilation. Plus much more light. People do not realize haw good the silver mylar products are. It can reflect up to 90% of heat or cold. Years ago I came up with an idea for my window shades/curtains. Some people were making widow "quilts". I decided to make them with the single sheet of mylar in them and quilt batting. They look nice and have saved me so much in heating and cooling cost. When I want to wash them I gently swish them out in the bath tub and hang dry. I think that they may be made commercially now. Have a good day!
Great 👍 💡 idea
Another great video just in time for lunch, before I tackle my housework, on a day off! Thanks Sean!
Amazing!
This room looks bigger now the insulation is being put up.😮
Wow I caught you in time for a rest and coffee
Go check out Sean's Universe ! A tower straight out of a fairy tale. Another great video.
Thanks 👌 😊
What a venue it could be for things from weddings to poetry readings.
Sean good to be here and hi there
Must be much warmer in there now
Nice job Sean 😘
Windows will be nice, make it light and airy, see you 👋
Can't wait for that window
Hi sean, i first new about you through watching Michael Petherick, i wondered if you still keep in touch now your renovating your own cottage x
Getting there Sean.
Looking good. The cats love their play area😅
You made good progress Sean, with the reinforcement of the roof. That window can always put in later. 💋
I think so too!
kitties sooo cute!
To do or not to do that is the question…..I like your reasoning….the budget is the deciding factor…..I’m scrambling to move from Bc to Ont……
Sean, you and Sam have done a wonderful job on the cat
in-closure. They look so happy out there.
Great job on the cottage interior. It's looking darned good.
Cheers
I hope that things work out that you can add the other window. I think it would be nice to have in that spot
spend the money, it is dark and rainy there so much. Creating light is fundamental, especially given long rainy winters. a strategic decision for sure
Sean, you are such a busy person, kittens look cutie, till next time enjoy your day.
Hmm... well I did think 2 were enough for me as we only spend time sleeping and or bathing so much so I wouldn't other than the bath. Ventilation in the bath is important :) other than windows as well.
There will be a mechanical ventilation system aswell
Sean thank you for sharing. Your work on the Cottage keeps me company when I am crocheting my new Bedspread. French blue (light color). You are accomplishing a wonderful project & I am cracking on with mine. Will email a picture when completed.
That will be lovely we look forward to seeing it 😊
A window on the back will help with a flow too!! Good idea Sean!!
Sean, you are surely cracking on! It looks great. You will be happy the insulation is up come summertime. Those kitties sure look happy. ❤
Looking good.
Well done, looking forward to the window looking out on the orchard 🙌
Great wee video. Bless 🙏🏻
Love watching
Window yes
Yeah Sean
Sean l always make sure to hit the button on every video I know how important it is of course I'm subscribed and I'm glad you're putting a window in the back it's coming along 😊
you need to set up a cat cam, so we can watch them when they are out, hehe
Hello 👋
I love to see the kitty's playing
Love the windows sean
Thanks 👌
I wouldn't put rooftop window, I have one in my bedroom, and it's too bright. We had it put in because it was office/ bedroom but it no longer an office but the window still remains. 😊
Yes it can be
Great job Sean...everything is looking really good and is well sealed!!
Sean, YT unsubscribed me again. So everyone needs to make sure they are still subscribed! Great work done as always! 😊
Thanks for checking
👍great work. I can feel the coziness from the US!
Kitties have certainly grown.
Thanks for explaining your roof insulation. Our roof is slate and about due to be redone... 175 years old. Proper insulation would make the whole house more comfortable.
Glad to help
Love the progress. It's looking more and more cozy.
I sure like the metal brackets you make…the ties
Good job Sean, you make doing everything look so simple. 👏🏻👏🏻😊
Great insulating, Hercules. The 2nd window can always go in later. I love night blackness, have blackout shades, sleep like a rock, yet same
roof, so hear the rains beating on roof...love that...cats look up from bed...funny...Loved seeing your lions playing, today...fun video, thanks.
Yes windows for sure! Lots of light!
Excellent progress! Looking fabulous! 😊❤🥰
You should start another channel and call it, Sean's Cat World. Those are definitely some pampered Kitties.❤
They are!
Great progress Sean! Sent a donation (BMC) to Jasmine for all her hard work editing!😊❤️🇺🇸
Awesome thank you!
☺️😊
👍always watch your channel Sean 😊
I appreciate that
New subscriber here! I just watched your video making the Catio and "met" your adorable cats. I was hooked immediately. Anyone who loves animals that much is someone I want to know and follow. I'm still catching up on your videos but just wanted you to know how much I love YOUR love of animals!! 🙂
Welcome thanks for your support
Great video as usual Shaun ❤❤
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good job 👍
I'm watching just a bit late 🎉🎉🎉🎉
👍
Nice!!
Nice job!
👩👩👧👩👩👧👍
I find myself watching a lot of cat shorts videos, or live cats with kittens. Yours could have their own channel. Sean's Cat's World 😹
Very clever to prepare the roof for a window and still cover it. In the future, it will save so much work!
Who wouldn't put in insulation!? But of course I live in New York, were it's in the 90's in the summer, and -30's in the winter 😆
Your work is inspiring 👍👍
Thank you! 😊
I suggest a skylight window now as regular windows are when sun is on that side. Skylights have the benefit of total daylight.
Love your cats!!
One cozy cottage coming right up.
Is the cottage going to be for guests?
Maybe ,whatever is needed at the time
That foil insulation is very interesting. What are the layers of it? It almost looks like to layers of foil separated by bubble wrap.
Foam
@@Seans_World even more interesting.
Get the suggested extra window installed.... natural light is cheaper than artificial light in the long run.😢
It's already very bright up there
One thing that puzzles me about the wood you are using, is all dimensional lumber in France yellow? To me it looks as if it is all pressure treated. Here in Canada we do not use PT lumber unless it is going to be exposed to the weather.
It's treated with preservatives for insects
👍🏻
Don’t forget ,people sleeping need the dark not lots of daylight
Definitely
Hey hey ❤
Hey
Did you start on the roof tiles ?
Sean I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but can you tell us the height of the room. When you do closer shots of what you're doing it's hard to tell.
4m plus
Wow.
