This is cat paradise! My cats come out on my deck with me when I drink my morning coffee. They love being outside. The deck is the farthest they go though.

We , in Belgium, eat sour cherries boilde up with some sugar wit meatloaf( no onions or herbs in it just p& s, breadcrums and an egg). Your Belgian grandmother sure would have eaten this. You can als put pitted chierries in pancake batter and bak a tick pancake! Very nice!
The catio is ok but I am afraid will not last long. Plus the fact that you need to cary the cats to is will become a burden. Don’t I know. My cousin buildme a wood and wire catio in the back of our garden but after a year or two it was quickly replaced wit an allumium one witch the cats can access by the kitchen door! But you sure enhanced the space with the tree and all the othe cat toys!
I can just hear the cats saying..."Thank you thank you thank you...." Cats are meant to be outside, even though they do love being indoors too. Our cats always went in and out as they pleased. Their nature is to hunt and stalk.
We don’t spoil the cats, nah, not us. 😊 That’s the nicest cat house I’ve ever seen. 🙀

We have indoor cats too. My husband built an enclosure for them to go outside. The catio. (Cat patio)😂 They can go through a window straight into their catio at any time. We live in rural Australia, so it is made from fine metal mesh. Very small squares so snakes, mice etc can't get in. They have numerous beds, a spiral ladder and high walkway.

Sean, another idea is if you lay fencing on the ground of the whole thing, attaching it at the bottom edges, you don’t have to worry about the cats getting out nor anything digging its way in to get to the cats.

I'd actually have put that chicken wire on the bottom as well. Not to keep the cats in, but predators out. You wouldn't believe how fast different predators can dig under.

Depending on the bug I have had some success with apple cider vinegar diluted with water. Put in a spray bottle. Remember you don't have to shovel rain. That is a big peach. The fork seems to be growing well. The fence is just shocking. ( sorry) We had gernsey with 14 percent butter fat. Eight kids drank it unpasteurized.

They are going to love that catio! One of my three stays outside most of most days in my screened pool area. The two boys would rather be indoors and look out the windows!

In the USA, we have deep woods off insect repellent. It has 25% DEET and 40% DEET, depending on what you want. It's good for about 12 hours or so. Keeps ticks, chiggers, mosquitos, and a few more flying biting insects away. Good stuff that DEET. Used by the military.
Try putting a dryer sheet in your back pocket, and leave it to hang out of the pocket. Also works hanging out the back of your cap. It's totally unrelated, but soaking a burnt pan, pot, or casserole with a dryer sheet and water overnight will lift the burned marks like magic.

I worked for a golf maintenance department, and the guys used from "Avon," "skin so soft" body spray. That stops the mosquitos and flays too.

I was just going to suggest Avon skin so soft, it definitely works on mosquito but don't know about flies

Sean. A good solution to keep the flies away is to use a spray used to keep flies off horses. The one I use is called No Flies on Me. You can buy from any good horse husbandry outlet or Country / Farm suppliers 👍

Flyswatters work really well for flies but they do tend to sting when you hit yourself with them lol

Apparently flies do not like "Pine Sol" cleaner or peppermint. You can spray the structure or furniture in the garden. GOOD LUCK! ❤ let me add that pine essential oil could be an irritant to the skin, but putting it on the cat gym upper frame where the kitties can't get at it might be OK. Also, hang up the old fashioned type of 🪰 fly traps. Available at hardware stores, they look like a curly piece of sticky tape. Do you know these? Don't put anything on your skin or clothes! ❤

I want to come back as Sean & Sam's kitty. Living in rural France, having a wonderful play land, great food. I should be so lucky. Very nice set up y'all and they do make great chicken coops. With Tree branches at the shaded end for perches. Many homesteads here in the US have these same type. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Those are some lucky kitties right there. It is going to be fun for ya'll to watch them play. A perfect compromise between letting them out where they might kill some birds and keeping them cooped in the house where they'd get a little less exercise.

I once covered an old swing set frame in the same way making an outdoor area for our cockatiel.

Some future time, screening would keep flys and mosquitoes out of their enclosure. I learned over time. You are good pet parents, thinking of your furbabies and letting them get sun and fresh air. You have amazing skills Sean.

People in Florida use Avon’s Skin So Soft for several of the insects prevalent in the more humid climate there. Might be worth a try and not too expensive!

Sean, you can buy a spray against the muskito's and flys. It must have DEET in it, al least 50% works the best. It smells, but works! Love the kittyrun!💋

In the U.S. there are fly bags you can hang around the garden and home. Flys fly in and get trapped. Eucalyptus should help keep bugs away. Even Vicks vapo rub.
I had an enclosure for my cat and it wasn’t ten minutes before he eyed a small gap that he could squeeze through and out he went. Now he’s an indoor cat but he still makes a break for it from time to time.
Huge fly problem here in Australia. I used to use vinegar on my horse's legs to keep the flies away. Smelled like a fish and chip shop, but it worked and was cheaper and probably healthier for her than the commercial fly repellents. 🤷♀️😁

Old time Aussies used a widebrimmed hat with corks suspended from the edge and hung around the hat. It chased flies away and was eco-friendly. 😅 👍🇦🇺

I made a climbing area out of a branched log about 6 foot high, the cats love it! Gives them something to climb and play on!

I used to look after 2 old boys who lived on a farm they grew their peach tree against a wall in the sunniest spot on the farm and they got peaches I am growing a peach tree in one of those plastic green houses to give it extra warmth anyway love your vids x
