My dad bought a ‘72 Wagoneer through a military program when we moved from Italy to an AF base in eastern Washington state. I was one at the time of the move but we had the vehicle for a few years and I can still remember driving through the property we owned off base doing vermin control. We leased property out to some rancher that grazed cows out there. My mom especially missed that “car” when we got transferred to CA and my dad didn’t think we still needed it. It made such an imprint on me, have always wanted a white Wagoneer.

When you first showed the frame and driveline display model, it did not make sense at first while I was looking at the depth of the frame rails and the elaborate and expensive rear suspension. Then it made sense. This chassis was designed to incorporate a skate board configuration of dual motor and under floor battery pack. And a good size one at that. It will be a $140k+ Jeep, but it’s designed to migrate to battery electric down the road.
I have seen some 2022 Wagoners on the roads and in driveways and they are very good looking out in the real world. They have a very sharp, elegant and vibrant paint and overall finish on them. They have an expensive classy look to them.

Now don't get me wrong I wouldn't hesitate to tow a flat bed with a bobcat weighing that much. But I would never tow a 10,000lb house trailer that big with this or any other 1500 series.

I was on I-75 heading north from Detroit and there was a Grand Wagoneer in the slow lane and went to make a lane change to the left lane (2 of 4 lanes) and a car in lane 3 was merging into lane 2 the the GW somehow seen that and swerved back into it's original lane. The Wagoneer had his turn signal on and the other car did not but the Wagoneer somehow detected that and the driver was either alerted or the vehicle switched back into it's lane. I don't have these features in my car but thought that was pretty cool. It happened in a split second and I would have been side swiped in my car if that occurred with me. I wasn't a big fan of all this technology at first but after seeing that I think the vehicle saw that and assisted the driver.. I know other vehicles have this but was just something I witnessed and was impressed with. I actually thought I was about to witness the first Grand Wagoneer accident while watching but the car had to have assisted. Pretty cool Tech!

Curious if they thought about fitting this with a solid rear axle? Looking at the chassis you can see how limited the articulation is going to be. Definitely will be great towing horse trailers on gravel roads, but seems like they're leaving a lot of off road capability back on the drawing table. With the popularity of overlanding/ offroading seems like more could have been done to design to those markets.

The smaller engine also is reported to provide a 2 mpg improvement in gas mileage. So strictly from a towing standpoint, they have similar tow rating , but which will do a better job towing a 7500 lb trailer with a fully loaded vehicle??

Drives me nuts how manufacturers do that! Same with the new tundra, 12000lb towing capacity but the most payload available is 1900lb which you will be lucky to find on most tundra trims. Why is to so hard to get decent payload capacity?

471 hp and 455 lb-ft in the half ton would be incredible. Especially if they put it in the lower trim level and pair it with the Wrangler 4xE system.

They say "dual exhaust," but it ISN'T. They run the exhaust into a single pipe, then split it at the tail. Nothing more than looks. Defeats the purpose.

Something TFL trucks needs to investigate is all these new Jeep vehicles is great but the problem I have is we purchased a new
2020 Jeep Gladiator for $56,000 and had an issue with the front axle and they can't get parts so the warranty is no good if they
can't supply parts to fix them and I am not the only Jeep owner that's having problems. Jeep needs to fix the parts issue!

Don't like the welded hitch. Gonna have to cut it out and re-weld to replace during a minor rear end collision.

Jim and Andre do a FANTASTIC job of educating us on the new Grand Wagoneer - with no mention of “Toxic Masculinity” or “global warming”, etc. - like in the other TFL video. Thanks for sticking to the truck/suv review and not making this political. Now Jim - you guys nailed it with regards to the specs and interior, but is there a way you could make the Wagoneer look a little better on the outside? That said, I look forward to this thing hitting The Gauntlet soon…

It may have good bones but that doesn't mean it isn't going to be junk like a lot of FCA products. They usually have a lot of electrical gremlins. I don't see how people can afford 100K vehicles with the way the economy is going. Is it going to be built in Mexico along with the HD trucks?

If you like Land Rover reliability, you'll love the the dependability that only Chrysler, Fiat and Peugeot can deliver.
The tech will annoy you as it fails, but bring an umbrella and comfy shoes. The only consolation is that the tow truck drivers that I know are good folks. I think that they'll eventually give you their home phone number. You can save yourself the time and call them before you leave home.
