Andre is a treasure as a previewer and reviewer - always factoring all the points of views and interests with the details and features. I love his 'to me' awareness of a dispassionate objectivity as the foundation of value and truth/fact.
My guess as to why the flag is reversed may be military inspired. The idea is that flag is always moving forward or blowing in the wind such as when it it mounted on vehicles.
I THINK, remembering back to Boy Scout days, the stars are always shown on the flag’s own right, hence stars on opposite sides on opposite sides of the vehicle.
It is a representation of the flag assaulting forward. How many of you remember back in the Day when Chrysler vehicle had the Pentastar on the Passenger side of the car only reason for this was for marketing and showing people walking on the curbs that it was a Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth brand.
They've literally run a billion ads about the flag and why it's like that on the Wagoneer, you have to living under a rock to not know why they put it like that at this point.
You didn't mention it, but that engine compartment is shockingly simple. It isn't covered by hoses and wires like most. You can actually see the entire engine, the exhaust manifolds, etc. In contrast, the new Bronco looks like a snake pit.
Love these huge American SUVs living in Europe they just are so different to what we get, and having done road trips in the US in Escalades and Yukon from GM the space and comfort is incomparable to anything European
I was a Jeep guy until they stopped making the Cherokee XJ.........20 years ago. That simple, inexpensive, utilitarian vehicle was an absolute beast in the snow, with even halfway decent tires. I have not looked at any reliability metrics, but I don't trust Stellantis/Jeep quality control. Definitely showing my age, but I HATE the move from transmission and transfer case levers, to buttons and dials. It seems that in everything, manufacturers are doing their damndest to isolate users from anything tactile and/or mechanical.
Chrysler hasn’t made their best engines in decades. The 318, 360 and 4.0 are gone. This this is an ugly overpriced piece of junk and will not be worth squat in 5 years. 90,000 thousand dollars and it doesn’t even come with everything for that? What a joke. It’s such a let down.
I think it would be worth the asking price if it were as well built as a Toyota Land Cruiser and you could drive it worry-free for 10+ years. The reality with any full-size domestic luxury SUV is it has essentially the same mechanical components as the same manufacturer's base fleet trucks at triple the price with triple the electrical complexity and a ton of depreciation in a short amount of time. Vehicles like this are designed to be leased for three years, and then the dealerships get double revenue from both the second owner's purchase as well as ongoing repairs once they fall apart out of warranty, which also tends to expire conveniently at three years. It's a vicious cycle that's never going to end because it's too profitable; there's no money to be had in reliable vehicles.
Rather buy this over a Cadillac Escalade! GM can't seem to build anything without major quality issues. And no... the Toyota Landcruiser is not as luxurious as this. Reality is, not everyone is buying a vehicle to last 30 years on the road. With good maintenance, most things will last.
Looks great inside & out. If I was 15 years younger & had the 5 kids with Jennifer Connelly (as originally planned), then it’d be a toss-up between this & an Escalade.
Nice first drive! Let's be real... how many people are going to buy this to rock-crawl and do serious off roading? (2?) This is a Lux-Mobile! It's nice to see we can still build a luxury vehicle that is about quiet, super comfort and not about "road feel" and 1G skid pad handling. Not all of us want that.
Nobody is going to buy that to rock crawl. That’s why the Bronco is the coolest new SUV. This thing would have been relevant in 1999, when it was all about size and image for the boomers.
My neighbor has a new 2023 Grand Wagoneer Series 3 with the new Hurricane 3.0L twin-turbo inline engine that is a thrill. The Series 3 is the top shelf and it stickered for $111,000.00 which is more than I would pay for any vehicle regardless of make. That said, the interior of his new GW puts his Mercedes S Class to shame, and his is White with 22" Chrome wheels so it looks the part on the outside as well. That said, it is huge!
What's the chances those sun roofs don't leak in ten years and destroy the electrical like the three on the Jeep Commander do in every model they were optioned on
@Rouge Five yup I agree I have a commander thats got a manual tcase and manual axles all the electronics got cooked by the leaking sunroof because for some reason they thought the controls for a 4x4 should go on the floor under a seat...
Judging by the shitbox in your pic, your fat ass probably has a little more than popcorn crumbs on his lap😂 Go back to the 70's when Cameros were actually worth a shit, boomer
Is it worth it? Against the $88K fully loaded GMC Denali or $86K Expedition Platinum? Hell yes. Sure, $91K is a bit higher, but this has equipment unavailable in the class plus the power and performance(4WD system as well) make the difference.
Stay safe guys...these are the worst fires in a highly-populated area of Colorado I've ever heard of. Winds gusting to 115 MPH and over 30,000 people evacuated.
I'm going to be nit picking this morning, but I've seen three videos of this Grand Wagoner yet you seem to be amazed by that foot step like its the first time you've seen it ! What's going on here?
What is the axle ratio, and does the rear axle have a locker? Does the strip model have an axle locker? Authentic Low-Range? Does the strip model get a higher, less-desirable axle ratio? Many questions that have yet to be answered.
Interesting that they went with the SRT 6.4 Hemi instead of the truck 6.4 Hemi which is designed for towing longevity. What is the rear axel ratio? Love the Agave interior, shame its not in the GW you are showing. So nice to see something other than black, brown or gray interiors. How does the Macintosh system compare to the Harman Kardon system?
I have the Macintosh in my new grand Cherokee L (three row) 2022 and it’s badass, and this system is supposed to be even better, also it’s a 3.92 gear ratio and the HD ZF 8 speed that’s in the heavy duty trucks and max tow 1500’s. Also, even though they used mainly the 6.4 form the srt lineup they did super extensive testing towing in torture climates hot and cold, in the video I saw with the engineers they said they worked with ram for almost two years on designing this platform for max reliability as their number one goal
In the age of retro being cool again and the price people are paying for the old wood sided wagoneers of the 80’s it’s a missed opportunity to offer no type of wood outside packages if only just for a launch edition obviously 98% of people don’t want wood but they could sold a package for a small production run
Me to! I test drove a base model Wagoneer and was blown away. It felt like a nicer vehicle than the Yukon Denali we also drove at the same dealership. It was a trade in on a Wagoneer. $60k for a base model and it was far more loaded than a $60k Tahoe or Expedition. At $60k, the base model Wagoneer actually feels like a luxury SUV whereas the $60k Tahoe and Expedition felt far more utilitarian, not nearly as refined, or smooth-riding.
@TFLnow, does the Grand Wagoneer come standard with skid plates? I know there isn't an All Terrain package like there is on the ordinary Wagoneer, but wasn't sure if they just were standard like the tow hooks are.
I really wish it had a bigger grill. It has 3 rows of grill, if the main jeep bars grill stretched down to the middle black grill I think it would make the face just all the more commanding
Has a nice powertrain. Exterior is okay, not sure about the size view either but I think it does look different then anything else. I like the wheels, will be watching for a set of take offs to replace the chrome clad wheels on my Ram.
Compared to the competition, the GRAND WAGONEER S3 wins without reservation. It just has so much more to offer on every level that it is silly to even compare it to the other half baked SUV’s. Reliability is commensurate with the competition or better…Chevy’s fall apart fairly quick, Land Rover’s are horrid, Cadillac is still GM half ass designs. In person, the GW is impressive and understatedly handsome.
The exterior just looks cheap for some reason to me. The interior is super nice but looks like it’s going to be a big barrel of problems knowing the brand.
It is worth it especially to own something that not everyone and their brothers have already. The caddy's seats are horrendous compared with the outgoing model not to mention the reliability of current gm products. The navigator is nice but its a V6, yes plenty powerful but there is no replacement for a large V8.
The interior is great and luxurious the exterior is just big, that's it, it has no style of flare to it. Take a look at the other big SUVs, they all have some style to their exterior. I'm not talking about their reliability or anything else like that, just their looks.
When can we expect a 6.4 in a Ram 1500 XLT with less farkles. The pricetag to get one of these is just prohibitive. But I'd like to have the 6.4 from the 2500 in the 1500 for it's friendlier suspension for a DD.
I am not sure why Nathan is complaining about the tire size. It is the exact same tire size as the Yukon AT4 that he says he loves. :-P Anyway, a Hurricane I6 turbo PHEV with a 40+ mile electric/ 450+ mile gas range and some skid plates would make this a perfect vehicle.
My guess is the Wagoneer will sell to the core Jeep fans but run into headwinds after that. At this price point, I would go for a Land Cruiser (Yes, I know) or Defender. In the Jeep showroom, I would go for the Grand Cherokee L. As the former owner of a 1991 Grand Wagoneer, I find the styling to be a big disappointment. Last, and on an entirely separate note, looking at the arc of automotive history, we are still in a relatively low cost-of-gas era. That will change at some point.....count on it.....and vehicles like these will be the first casualties.
Does anyone else notice Andre is always nice but Nathan always seems to be having a bad day when he’s doing a review with Andre? He can’t just agree with anything Andre has to say. It’s honestly off putting watching Nathan interact with Andre. Anyway that is one sweet ride!!
I agree. I also notice that Nathan is always taking deep breaths as he speaks (even doing reviews alone). It’s as if he’s tired or annoyed by what he’s doing. In college, during presentations, that was always a huge no no and a good way to fail/lose people’s attention. I love the TFL family of channels but, he is my least favorite presenter. Andre is great, however!
Hey guys, pardon my ignorance, but is off roading a big deal in Colorado? This is coming from someone you lives in the flatlands of Chicago. Also why would you take a luxury $100,000. SUV off road anyway? That being said, I really enjoy the channel.
This, Escalade, Navigator, Sequoia, Armada, Tahoe, Suburban are all "people movers". You 'can' take a Honda Civic "off-road", but these vehicle's target market is affluent people with large families. Even more so if you have 2 or 3 children and you're hauling around sports equipment, musical intruments, etc.
Let us see the 10,000 Lbs, slippery boat ramp test in both 2WD only model versus 4WD low-Range. Does 4 Low lock the differential? If not, perhaps the 4 wheel drive is just an overpriced option that is more like an all-wheel drive set-up?
I don't know navigators are pretty damn nice.. Everyone I drove And the luxury and the looks on the outside.. This one isn't bad for Jeep for the 1st 1 bring out.
Untrue, not every wagoneer and grand have the 10k towing capabilities, only available on some. Spent the past few days at 5 different dealers, finally found a grand wagoner with the correct tow package 9850
Love the interior but can't get past the Grand Cherokee L look. Doesn't want to be called a Jeep but it looks like a Jeep. No retro nostalgic style to warrant the nameplate. Excited and dissapointed at the same time
I'd rather the Cherokee L, bout the same , looks the same and the interior is about the same..... gee Chrysler, couldn't you have styled this better? 😄 I do actually like the Grand Wagoneer, especially the towing capacity. It is quite nice but too similar to the grand Cherokee for my taste
Does everyone need a Tahoe or a Suburban, this is where the G Wagoneer and the G Cherokee L differentiate from one another. One is smaller in width and even though it might have the same luxury features as its bigger Brother there is enough differences to separate the two. G Cherokee L competes more with the Tahoe and G Wagoneer would be more inline with the Suburban.
Yep, one neighbor has a new Grand Cherokee L and another the Grand Wagoneer and the Grand Cherokee L is so much better looking. I see that Grand Wagoneer and many other all the time and it is still ugly to me.
Based off the Ram 1500 frame. Yet we still can’t get the 6.4 hemi in the Ram 1500. AND it has more horsepower and torque than the Ram 2500 6.4. Make sense? Call it the max tow package like Ford. Take a Ram 1500, 6.4 hemi and stiffen up the rear end!!
You guys are missing the point. I want to see the Wagoneer Series 1 , fleet/strip model. I want to see what wheels and tires one gets with that vehicle. I also want to know if the rear windows are fixed, or does the rear quarter glass pop open like my Dodge Caravan? Fixed windows without ventilation is likely a deal breaker at this price point. Please don't tell me that the vehicle has rear AC to make up for such an engineering blunder, you guys are too easy on these manufacturers. I am in the market for a Wagoneer to use it as a highway cruiser for comfort, and I want to Tow a 10,000 boat. an this vehicle pull a 10,000 lbs boat up a ramp? How about that for a real-world test? I am concerned the cargo space is too small once I place the spare tire in the back hatch. I also want to know what kind of a 22" wheels and aggressive tires that I could put on the Wagoneer in after-market without rubbing the fender-well. Are the mirrors on the Wagoneer as good as my Super-Duty mirrors with convex lenses? How is the viability when driving and parking? Is there a front camera on the strip model? It seems like visibility of the front bumper is challenging. I want to see a cargo comparison to The Chevy Suburban. There is too much hype about gizmos, and the important, real-world, features are missed.
Looks like they've brought back the Chrysler Aspen for 2022. With all do respect, it's still junk. You can say whatever you want, as long as you say with all do respect first.
Andre is a treasure as a previewer and reviewer - always factoring all the points of views and interests with the details and features. I love his 'to me' awareness of a dispassionate objectivity as the foundation of value and truth/fact.

No it’s not with the hype look at the damn price tag!
I probably inspected it when it got parked out in the lot 😅
I like to see a big American vehicle, flashy with chrome. All it needs is wood paneling.
Outta curiosity, why is this segment almost word for word from the live show on this Waggoner?
Love the interior but can't get past the Grand Cherokee L look. Doesn't want to be called a Jeep but it looks like a Jeep. No retro nostalgic style to warrant the nameplate. Excited and dissapointed at the same time
the order of showing the videos is confusing. I watched the off road video before this video became available. Need to work on that issue
If your spending that money you CAN NOT go with a Series I. Go with a Series 2 and at the very least get the passenger interactive package.
Wow, something to make a Tahoe look good. Did Chev pay for the development? LOL
@@MichaelSmith-kr9qw no enough, everytime I see a G Wagoneer video I keep thinking it's a G Cherokee and I'm sure I'm not the only one
@@harleyrobertson6746 in video format it might look that way but in person size changes your comfort level if you're a bigger person
@@harleyrobertson6746 in person, the GW is wayyyy bigger than a GC. Immensely so.
Yep, one neighbor has a new Grand Cherokee L and another the Grand Wagoneer and the Grand Cherokee L is so much better looking. I see that Grand Wagoneer and many other all the time and it is still ugly to me.
The flag isn't backwards. The Union (the stars) is SUPPOSED TO BE FIRST.
Still don't understand why the flag is backwards on the passenger side
Looks like a beautiful vehicle!
No FCA product should be priced above 60k except for a Dodge Viper. 90k for this💩wagon is crazy, but people will buy it🤦🏽♂️
That goes double for gm and ford
Based off the Ram 1500 frame. Yet we still can’t get the 6.4 hemi in the Ram 1500. AND it has more horsepower and torque than the Ram 2500 6.4. Make sense? Call it the max tow package like Ford. Take a Ram 1500, 6.4 hemi and stiffen up the rear end!!
oh no a stable dependable reliable safe ram 1500 let's make it unreliable
Whoah. What a throwback. I haven’t seen an Aspen in a hot minute.
American Flag is not backwards. Stars always forward!
Finally, the modern RamCharger!
