Im guessing the only ones that retain will do a good job at retaining value are the Land Cruiser and it's Lexus cousin. Can anybody think of any others, at that price, that don't fall off a cliff?
They are totally smoking something with pricing for both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. It is the anti Lexus pricing model, instead of pricing it low to get market share and prove itself, it is pricing itself at max of segment or higher. And they look like a bus, they should be colored yellow.
Typical American car selling strategy. MSRP is absurd and gets marked down by thousands to make people think they're getting a deal. Ford is really bad for that.
I recognized the road they were driving on! That was pretty cool. I always took that slight turn crazy fast too. So fun going over that hill right after! Good review. I think it is what it is. I think the higher series 3 stands up to the caddy much more then the series 1.
Thank you guys for conducting another great review. Because of that, I am heading over to my local Chrysler, Jeep and Ram dealership and order my Grand Wagoneer.
Nice review and I agree with your findings with the exception of interior. The Series III GW is stunning in every way and in my opinion one ups the Escalade. The second and third rows are almost as posh in the GW while the Escalade feels more like a Tahoe back there. Also the McIntosh stereo is upgraded on Series III, sounded amazing. Now if I could only find a Series III actually available for sale!
Having been in many FCA/Stellantus products. I'm generally not a fan of their sound tuning. Elevated, very hollow sounding bass that really makes the sound cheap to my ears
I swear if either Ford or GM would just put their full size truck diesel in their Full Size SUV and liberate family's from dismal fuel efficiency they would run away with the market. I guess the problem is having their full size SUVs on 1/2 ton truck platforms, so its a little more complicated.
@@jefffaller8474 GM actually made a 3500 Suburban. It was fleet only and gas only. It ended the program in 2019 but aftermarket 6.6L Duramax swaps were a thing.
I think they should offer some type of secondary trim finish package. Like sandblasted black aluminum or matte plastics. The only other thing that, while impacts the luxury model less, the back seat isn't long enough to fit 4x8 sheets in, whereas the lwb of the competition is. This would have to have the rear hatch open while transporting them.
American manufactures know their base. If they just offer a car in a particular class their fans will buy it, because they won't jump ship from their entrenched position over one or two downsides like fuel economy or slightly more basic interior.
Am I the only one who feels like this vehicle exists just to cash in on the SUV craze? And why has Jeep left out the separate opening rear glass and hidden rear wiper blade like so many other SUVs on the market? I’m also not really digging the exterior styling of this vehicle compared to other truck based SUVs on the road, especially the rear end design.
This vehicle exists because Stellantis' like most car makers knows they can build junk, name it nostalgically and charge unreasonable prices. And sad suburbanites will pay for it.
Yep. Jeep is a company so of course they’ll follow the consumer market and consumers want big SUV’s. Sad but true, and they just built this to appease those people. It’s not to my liking, and I would never want something as big as this, but I get why some do. Not too bad, but that price is shocking for some crappy Jeep car that’ll fall apart after five years
All cars are a cash grab, but in America the full size SUV segment is very profitable. A lot of folks want that limitless feel in transport, power, and security, especially if they are outside metropolitan areas. Been that way for a long time
Is it just me or do the proportions from the outside just look off? I saw one of these in person the other day roll by and it's hard to distinguish this from the new 3rd row version of the regular Grand Cherokee. I know we get angry about higher and higher belt lines on cars and no visibility but the whole rear of this just looks super off.
The audio system data card at 3:40 says it is for an "AKG" system (Escalade on the brain, probably). Is this the correct data for the McIntosh system that is actually installed in this vehicle?
It’s ridiculous that Jack has gotten 10mpg in this thing. Stellantis should be embarrassed that they released the JGW without a hybrid powertrain right out of the gates. It’s an example of American wastefulness. My wife and I were both hoping for a version that was more in keeping with the 70’s-80’s Grand Wagoneer, including the woodgrain vinyl wrap. In it’s current form, it’s going to be great for rich suburban moms and dads that will drop off their 2 kids at lacrosse practice, where off-roading will be touching the grass as they have to do a 5 point turn to get out of the parking lot.
Who do you think bought the original 70's-80's Grand Wagoneer??? The same rich suburban moms and dads doing the exact same thing with their kids. They too only went off road at the owners estate.
What kind of MPG do you think the original Grand Wagoneer would get with Jack driving? 🤣 This thing is consderably more capable offroad than the original as well. Sure, most won't use the capability, but that goes for all vehicles sold today.
@@ericbryant796 Times have changed significantly from the 70’s and 80’s, and from what I remember having lived through these decades growing up, friends parents who owned Wagoneers used them to drive up north to cabins that were almost always on dirt roads, or for deer hunting, skiing trips, etc. They weren’t selling them, nor the Suburban, or Broncos of the day, as lifestyle vehicles. Most people owned and drove sedans and wagons and they bought these 4 wheel drive SUV’s because they used them for their capabilities. Today, people buy these things as a sort of cross between a Cadillac and a minivan, to be seen in at their kid’s soccer games.

Making 10mpg? You'll see these for sub $40K in five years.
You just have to buy the right one. A 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser/Lexus LX were over $90k new. They run around $65k now.
I don't even know who is wiling to drop $100k on a Jeep? There are much better options out there for that price.
No need to imagine. Look up Mercedes AMG.
Im guessing the only ones that retain will do a good job at retaining value are the Land Cruiser and it's Lexus cousin. Can anybody think of any others, at that price, that don't fall off a cliff?
About time thanks for the video your good at what you do
They are totally smoking something with pricing for both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. It is the anti Lexus pricing model, instead of pricing it low to get market share and prove itself, it is pricing itself at max of segment or higher. And they look like a bus, they should be colored yellow.
It's the "New model so we can set MSRP at some ridiculous price in this market without people bringing out their pitchforks" approach
Typical American car selling strategy. MSRP is absurd and gets marked down by thousands to make people think they're getting a deal. Ford is really bad for that.
Absolutely, it's ridiculous
I literally had that song playing the other day and was thinking about sending it to you guys because we all know how much Mark loves piano black
Like your reviews!
The audio ups and downs in volume is weird
This channel should be at $1M subs
My 1975 GMC Vandura 1 ton RV gets 10mpg... it weighs 8500 lbs
Jack uttering 'Jesus' in the background made me choke on my coffee. HILARIOUS!! :-D Great video guys.
Just the right time to buy this car as gas prices hit record highs, consume!
That car will be bought by the kind of people who caused the fuel prices to be that high. To them, fuel is effectively becoming *more* affordable.

Jack always has the best song choices
Ford: Releases 40MPG compact truck. Sells out for all time.
Chrysler:
I come here as much for the quippy comments section as the great videos. Rewarded.
It has flare but does it have 37 pieces of flare? We don't do minimum flare here!
That's a good looking SUV. I doubt I will ever need something like that but who knows. Good review and I enjoyed the off roading gentleman. LOL
I almost thought this was the Wagoneer by looking at the wheels.
2:15 a man of taste! I see you playing the Seatbelts on cowboy bebop soundtrack!!! Very nice!!!
This car is like 120k USD in sweden it's absolutely insane how expensive it is
Slapped this video on my 65 inch TV as I sip my vanilla bean latte.
What a great start of the day
I still see the Yukon Denali with the Duramax as the sweet spot for capability and fuel use.
Piano black is one of my favorite songs what a legendary collab
$120 to fill it up if you live in California only to be able to drive it about 250 miles. Nice.
Dull....where is the linkage to the classic Grand Wagoneer?
The Easter eggs lol
YESSSSSS Piano Black by The Seatbelts playing on the stereo!!!! Love it! 2:10
I don’t know why anybody would get this over a Mazda Miata.
Or ANYTHING ELSE
@@THX5000 Then you underestimate the Karen's.
Boy, I bet Mark was especially happy about Jack's lav placement!
American manufactures know their base. If they just offer a car in a particular class their fans will buy it, because they won't jump ship from their entrenched position over one or two downsides like fuel economy or slightly more basic interior.
Another awesome review!
Been that way for a long time
@@air-headedaviator1805 yep. Before large SUVs, it was crew cab dually trucks with conversion van interiors.
Unfortunately, they're releasing this as fuel prices are starting to climb again.
Fierce competition is this segment between freight trains, Airbuses, and condos!
The front fender looks like it’s from another vehicle to me.
Great review.
The Coyboy Bebop album is awesome.
Next time play TANK! for the stereo review.
It would work for the car review as well.
That whole OST is amazing front to back.
I was wondering where Cleetus was going this time when the video started 😂
There’s a Grand Wagoneer w/o a Screen in the Passenger side? Perfect!!
Everyone will afford a used one when the value drops 50% after 3-4 years. Can't wait to read the issues/problems this new Jeep product will have.
You spelled “next year” wrong 😂
Every suv is a symbol of waste, buy a gr86
6:41 - 6:44 The transformation was almost complete - Jack had become Mark and Mark had become Turbowski. Halloween is around the corner, I'll stay tuned.
I can see my wife's boyfriend's kids playing with that rear sunroof non-stop
