Puts it in 4 low rock mode and drives at 35 down a fire road, nice test.
😂
Most of these off road reviewers do this same shit lol I can’t handle it 😅
Roman is a foolhardy clown...🤡
Rich people toy. Not made for average family. Bought used lr3 15 yrs old 5,000.00 with same technology. Glad to see jeep finally catching up.
That is Roman for you. He is not the best of the TFL crew at reviewing vehicles.
Would be great if this engine makes its way into the Wrangler. Be nice to have an i6 again.
Based on the same architecture so should just be a matter of packaging. Hopefully you’re right, I too think that would be very cool and perhaps make me forget that they never gave the Wrangler the 5.7 it begged for.
It would be tight in terms of packaging, but hey, they put a giant V8 in one recently, so why not. Though likely not in any high volumes.
I'm quite sure this engine is intended to replace both the Pentastar and the Hemi.
@@rockymountboy Not the 3.6L with a wheezy 260 or so hp. This engine is designed to fit into vehicles that can fit the 5.7L or larger. If the max size is a Pentastar, this isn't going to fit without heavy modification. If they do fit it in a Wrangler, it will be a special edition type of thing.
@@gpaje yeah they already have the 2.0 I-4 Hurricane engine to try and succeed the Pentastar.
As a Wagoneer owner, it will NOT be seeing anything more aggressive than this. That's what the Linex Hummer H2 is for. We have the 5.7 and it is a very "sporty" engine for this truck. We mainly use ours for long road trips, easy trails, towing the boat and nice family outtings. We absolutely love it as native Arizonians with a lot of offroad trails. Nice video!
You spent that much money on this pile? Wowee, savant
Congrats! How's the reliability been so far? Any issues? Thx
@@MIZUNOMP60 that thing will be in the shop more than their driveway. It's a Fiat product
@@AW-iz3th chill out psycho
@@MIZUNOMP60 Not one issue so far. Its been a very fun vehicle for our family. Also very functional for soccer games and road trips for our large family. 3 kids and 2 dogs fit very comfortably.
My wife and I saw one in Charlotte NC at a dealer while we were buying our 2022 Pacifica, I think the sticker was well over 100 Grand, it was beautiful inside too, it really needed the wood siding like the old Wagoneers. I got to admit I might be a F150 guy, but I have always liked Jeeps and if Roman is impressed it really must be good, great show as always!!!
The one your wife saw was the GRAND Wagoneer which is bigger and much more expensive
@@mattbrew11 oh ok, didn’t notice on video, but man that thing was nice, Chrysler/Jeep/RAM is knocking it out of the park on interiors, wife set in it and she was in Love, she married the wrong feller to get a 100k+ vehicle, was the one I saw the Grand Wagoneer?
Msrp's start at 60k and go up over 100. Which is well within the realm of Lincoln and Cadillac for their top of the line luxury SUVs
@@mattbrew11 actually the Grand and less Grand Wagoneers actually have the same body. The difference is the trim level… which makes no sense and I think the marketing guys at Jeep shot themselves in the foot when they released the extended ones. The short wheel base should have been a Wagoneer and the long wheel base should have been a Grand Wagoneer.
Looks much better on the smaller diameter wheels as opposed to the GW’s 20’s or 22’s.
If you say so. The smaller wheels are more functional.
@@krane15 that was my point. Function = form.
I would like to see AEV do their thing for that Jeep.
Thanks! Off roading tests for Wagoneer vs at4 will do a great video.
At4 is kind of a joke, fx4 is slightly better
You guys should compare it to its predecessor the Jeep Commander. I own a 2006 5.7 Hemi 4x4 and I think it’s one of the most slept on off roaders
Quadra-Drive-II from 05-10 was phenomenal.
Don't forget the durango especially first gens. Up to 8* seating, v8 4x4, selectrac tcase was an option.
I love that Jeep keeps all jeeps off road worthy! All those are are so dang expensive now.
Exactly. That's a distinction they should always maintain. All other SUV just dress up and play pretend.
I love my wagoneer carbide edition and even with the 22s I still have taken it through alot n it's so comfortable people haft too drive it too appreciate it
I got to go in that Series 2 in February it had Falkens Wildpeak AT3 on it stock. Looked really sweet.. I'm friends with Bill Peffer CEO of Maserati and he had a Pre-production one
Jeep. Please start putting the I6 in the wranglers and gladiators. Thanks in advance.
That motor would be a game changer, though it's designed to be a 5.7L & 6.4L replacement, I just don't see it as a high volume option on a Wrangler or it fitting easily.
Can’t find any good off-road vids on RUclips with this car. After knee is back and good I’m going to take mine out and show what this thing can do.
Booyah 👊 😁 👍 🇺🇲, thanks Roman.
I can't wait for the IKE. Then I'll really see what's up.
Fingers crossed we get that more aggressive video, we went with the Z71 Suburban over the Wagoneer partially because of a lack of reviews and testing content at the time. It's a good looking truck and has some cool tech, but the Suburban is a tried and true workhorse that carries the whole family comfortably and still handles my desert wandering pretty well. She just doesn't like mud, but that's largely due to GMs use of Goodyear rubber.
Keep up the amazing content I always enjoy the videos.
Those Grand Wagoners are huge they make my Tacoma look like an ant 🤣🤣
Ball peen syndrome 🙄
Great content 🎉
Talk about the announced Wagoneer 4xe, plug-in hybrid vehicle! Hope the 4xe uses the Hurricane twin-turbo I6 gas engine too, with a big gas tank and also a big battery and DC fast charging.
Anybody else notice the red line on the display for the Wagoneer? Is that refresh rate with the camera?
SO, what are your thoughts on the I6 Hurricane?
Torque, sounds, and overall connection (with 3.92 gears)?
I am not sure what it is, but this spec really does remind me of the original G.W.
Can't wait to buy One certified in 3-4 years
Why add low range? Because some large families have cabins in remote mountains on forest/dirt roads. It may rain or snow out there. Plus it helps with descent speed. I am glad they add low range 4WD on the full size SUVs for us with large families.
Same, though I think they offer like 3 different 4wd systems to accommodate for nearly any need. The bast system doesn’t have a two speed transfer case but the top two do.
Needs wood paneling

i love to watch all your vids, we use toyota prado 90s series!
Can we get this video vs. the expedition timberline?
Yes turbo i6 is smooth especially off road
How would this do on soft sand, say for beach driving?
money well spent with the advanced off road group , I shopped for a series 2, around so calif no dealers order that opt package or the hd tow package @$795 , all the ones on the dealer lots, have 20" or 22" tires, all the opt screens, sunroofs etc, base model has a 1 speed transfer case 3.23 axle , now a 2 speed transfer case with the hd tow package inc the 3.92 axel ,
Could you show a photo of what you thought indicated front and rear lockers?
@@albundy6284 that's why I asked for a photo of what he thought were lockers...
We have one of these white wagoneers on our showroom floor at our Chrysler dealer.
What do you get when you cross a fish and an elephant?
Swimming trunks.
I6 is back, needs to be in all of jeeps lineup
Renegade, compass ??
I wish Jeep put more off road ability in the wagoneer/ grand wagoneer. The market is there. Just check out the market on 10-15 y/o Land Cruisers.
Give it a solid rear axle. Option for coil over suspension or air. Taller tires. That would be a real overlander.
what if you do Silly Off Road things to it..
37" tires.. new axles ?
how off road capable could you make it for 20k?
Good job Roman 👏👏👏 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE ✌️
I would like to see how it compares to the Yukon at4
I’d like to see a comparison between THIS, and the Rivian R1S.
Different use cases, this is better for *comfortable* road trips.. the R1S blows it out of the park in off road capabilities. This is more a Yukon, Escalade, Navigator competitor.
@@sethmisaelhernandez5902 this vehicle is bigger than the rivian
Awesome video. Just so u know. Front and back do not lock up. Watch your video and listen ok at the screen!!! Ooops lol
Expedition is the comp not explorer.
Off-road? That was my driveway I could had driven that road on a fwd
Love you
Wonder how this will do on the beach?
What’s the official wading depth?
Want to see Z71 Suburban vs. Wagoner L in a offroad shootout.
Just out of curiosity was that filmed around Billings Mt or a further west?
Nvm I asked to soon I know where that ranch is.
Jeep website says only rear limited slip diff. Don’t know what your screen said it locked the front.
@Rusty Man probably indicates the rear LSD as a locked when it’s engaged. Don’t know about the front though, maybe Jeep trying to trick people. Those units are actually extremely strong and act exactly like a locker up until the point when they slip. On the WK front and rear ELSD chassis they took aggressive driving and 33s to slip the ELSDs.
Pretty good system albeit unreliable in the long run. Chevy’s G80 locker is also not a locker but a clutch based LSD that’s just strong enough to act like a locker.
2022 October - 60 more hp than a Lincoln Navigator ! 😊
And doesn't sound like your wife's Taurus station wagon
hummer ev was ok to go offroading and wagoneer is too big?
They need to add the All Terrain Package to the grand wagoneer.
whats the name of the first song.
thank you.
Would love to see this compared to the Yukon AT4. Forgive me if I'm wrong but, I seem to recall, in your video, the Yukon's 4wd system seemed to do better than the Tahoe Z71. Particularly when one front wheel was off the ground. The GMC was able to figure it out but the Z71 could not....
This will destroy a Z71 or AT4

Cool review
I'd like to see the difference between grand cherokee L vs grand wagoneer L in all categories
About 30k
I hope they have fixed the electronics!
As an owner of a GCL the main difference is one more seat. The front seats and dash are almost identical.
How's the turbo lag? I would rather have the 6.4 V8
Better with a 6.7 Cummins engine, Dana axles, and frame enhancements for a 2"-3" lift.
If people could go over Black Bear Pass with F250s this could go too
Rear wheel steering would be about all this super large vehicle needs -- especially the L (if that one can be off-road equipped).
In any event, it looks much less like an airport van/bus when its all in white. I hope Jeep considers body colored pillars in the 2023 model. It also removed the embossing from the hood to the grill. An improvement, but just barely. Really not needed there, since the back and sides are name stamping enough. Only the Range Rover is its true competition.
Yeah, they made a huge mistake with that A and B pillar.
If you think Jeeps history with the military is impressive @ 80 years Dodge was the first car from horseback in 1916 for the U.S. military. 4x4 in 1934. 107 years. 89 years 4x4
Now if Jeep had done the Grand Wagoneer like Ford did the Bronco and have the option for this engine, the diesel, the 392, or the supercharged 6.2 in the TRX, it would be like a big brother of a 4Runner but could actually tow a big camper to the beach, and not just to the parking lot of the beach. If you want an SUV with 4Runner like offroad-ability but still be able to tow heavy, you pretty much have to abandon SUVs and look at trucks.
They're nice vehicles, but way to big for me. I'll stick with my wrangler. Good video
When you ran your finger over that dry dirt it made me cry.....lucky it wasn't black paint 🤣
👍
Intro song?
'Must be similar to a Commander. 'Maybe worse if it's FIS.
Do gwagon vs bronco
I do love the Wagoneer. However, I would hardly consider anything in this video an “off-road test“. I feel like a Honda CRV could’ve handled just about anything from this video. However, I will admit, The terrain featured in this “test“, this more extreme than probably 98% of actual Wagoneer owners will encounter.
$81,000........O. M. G.
That doesn’t look like Moab...no it’s a Montana dirt road;(
So Roman has no idea what WWll was about?! 😂
I'm sure he knows full well what it was about, what do you think he got wrong?
Still need to tow with the new engine. Disappointed the wagoner is getting the detuned engine
I’m sure it will do great until it inevitably gets high-centered.
Does this jeep pass the moose test?
The body to window ratio is sub optimal.
$81,000?! Such a deal!
On par with a Tahoe Z71 or a Cadillac or Lincoln navigator which aren't even off road capable
@@ubeuonly The prices for all of them are absolutely insane...
Take the renegade platform, make a small charger and challenger ,throw in this TT I6 IN , tune it up to 550hp and send it
We have worse highways in the uk than that trail u drove that thing around
My sienna could cross that stream
A better test would be with passengers. If people are going offroad with it, they are unlikely to be by themselves.
Wait! What? I6 with 400 horsepower?
Twin turbo, that's the standard output version, there is a 500 hp high output version. It has more torque than the 5.7L Hemi even in the standard output version.
Yup all that and they saved 1 mpg... and lost all of the naturally aspirated reliability
I think Jeep missed on the styling. The Wagoneer looks old and clunk, especially from the rear. YMMV.
I agree the new Wagoneer looks like an overweight Patriot from the side and the Patriot was an entry level Jeep giving the Wagoneer a cheap presence from a distance. The Commander looked more like a Wagoneer but failed because it wasn't better than the Grand Cherokee at anything for a higher price.
It could use a serious updating on the exterior. Big turn off.
for me too, the chrome outlining is the worst for me
I would rather see what it does in snow
1:36 the Wagoneer doesn't actually have any diff locks does it?
I think only the top GW model has a true rear locker.
Weird, this video mentions it, and the Jeep website mentions it (October 12, 2022). But when you go to the build your Jeep page, the advanced off-road package is not listed. Not the first time an auto maker has done that though, they'll probably clarify later by saying, "late availability."
@@PharmDRxZ It's the same eLSD that the Grand Cherokee's have. It works progressively to lock the differential as wheel slip increases. It can do so to the point it completely locks the differential and sends all the power available to that axle to the slipping wheel. It's a mechanical device that's electrically actuated.
It's a bummer they only equip vehicles with that eLSD in the rear. The WK Grand Cherokee and XK Commander had those differentials in both axles and in the transfer case.
No it's limited slip
@@psychologicaltirefire8190 yup my commander is swapped to manual control to effectively make it a e locker things like a tank but it goes where you tell it
