    FINALLY! I've been awaiting your review! So here's the trick to ordering a GW: Go with the Obsidian in Series II/III! Due to the styling and upright back, the Wagoneer doesn't do "bling" very well, especially the window surrounds, which causes a lot of side profile visual distortion. It looks way better without the chrome.
    As for the overall Grand Wagoneer, its hard to argue that it is not a true luxury player except in name. The interior is a knockout(odd that your door panel was hard plastic at the bottom where all Grand Wagoneers I've been in have been soft touch plastic. Possibly due to being a press vehicle?), up-to-date on tech, has the requisite comfort, and has room that must be measured in acreage. Then the cherry on top is the new Hurricane. It is a marvel of a modern engine. FCA/Stellantis put the engine through nearly 20 million miles of development for 6 years. One trick they did was made the turbos parallel as opposed to sequential. In doing so, you get all of the power, all of the time with virtually no lag.
    Just a few callouts: Your testing of the Hurricane is consistent with what I've seen elsewhere. It is astonishing that this big brute is just .03 slower than an Escalade V, despite a 170hp disadvantage and weighing 200-500lbs more.(and this is before SRT gets their hands on it). However, neither Hurricane **requires** premium. The Hurricane L.O. recommends 87 regular, whereas the H.O. recommends 91 premium for top performance.
    While the Escalsde may be more stylish on the exterior, I don't think the interior is as polished, especially the rear seat area. The Series III is a real treat!

    • @Stressless2023
      @Stressless2023 Год назад

      I agree about the lower door panels, I've sat in a level 1 GW when the wife's old Ghibli was in for service and seem to remember literally testing that area to see if it felt like Chevy Cobalt plastic and I recall it being soft touch. The new Hurricane I-6 is a beast and definitely one of the most impressive attributes of this truck now besides the still-impressive interior. I don't think I'll ever fully warm up to the exterior though, although I personally think the chrome window surrounds are classy-ish and compliment the slab-sided design well, but I hate the too-similar Grand Cherokee front end of these, not premium-looking enough to my eyes. And I still think Jeep designers could have made those raised Grand Wagoneer letters on the front doors out of wood (or even fake wood) as a unique and tasteful tribute to the woodgrain-sided original.

  • @desmondgurley
    @desmondgurley Год назад +7

    Absolutely beautiful and the L version actually looks more suited for this rectangular design. Compared to the esv or yukon XL, that is noticeably streched from the rear C pillar. The wagoneer L though is symmetric front and back, whereas the shortbase rear is cut short. I love this thing! I can see Jeep going 4xE for this b4 GM. And I agree exterior styling does fall btw Escalade and Navigator. The interior 2nd n 3rd row is unmatched, although Cadillac driver's area still reigns supreme to me. Its beautiful just pretty busy, throwing 4 screens everywhere still doesn't match the elegant design of the OLED in the Escalade. I do give it to Jeep for offering 0-60 in 4.7secs without taxing on an additional 40k unlike the Escalade V. Also, something to take into consideration 🔥

Still hate the generic looking exterior though (mainly the front which just looks like a big Grand Cherokee to me), especially this longer "L" version which now just looks generic AND dumpy - Still think the "Grand Wagoneer" letters on the front doors should have been made out of wood as a unique tribute to the original wood-sided models too.

      Some people suggested a woody, but I disagree. I'm also not a big fan of having car names scripted across the front or hood like Ford or Range Rover. I've always though it too industrial.
      I do, however, find it more appealing now that they at least moved it to the grill rather than the hood.

    With me being a big V8 guy, I’d be furious if I was going to get one of these and found out that they got rid of the 6.4 V8 for literally only 1 MPG better. If they are going to downgrade to a 6 cylinder, 1 MPG of improvement would just be unacceptable for me personally. If I’m spending $110k on an SUV, fuel economy wouldn’t even be a factor on my decision. I wouldn’t spend the money for something that only has that inline 6 when it had a V8. I’d either just get the regular wagoneer or the previous model year that offered the 6.4 V8

      I think they failed at the naming structure too. Frankly I don't think this should have ever had a Tahoe/Suburban competitor at all, at least not with the same name with only "Grand" in front of it and virtually the same exterior design - Makes it hard to justify paying over six figures when there's a Tahoe-priced "Wagoneer" that looks nearly identical parked next to it for half the price.
