I can relate to being impressed with Hyundais progress over time. 1988 I was bangin around in a cheap hyundai 4 door that was crap but somehow never left us stranded… fastforward to 2018 or so. I was at the airport in San Francisco trying to pick up my Jaguar XJ rental, and in classic Jaguar reality, it was broken. They offered me a Genesis G90 replacement and I didnt argue, had to leave asap. To my genuine surprise, the G90 was a capable highway car. The more time I spent driving it the more I was impressed. I kept thinking back to that 80s trashmobile and how far Hyundais come along.
I do not own a G90 but I can say anyone who is in the market, go check one out, its worth a look!

Many years ago, I was renting a car and had to choose between a Buick something or other and a Hyundai XG300. The rental counter dude said I should try the Hyundai. It was far from perfect, but overall I was quite impressed with it. I treated it with the same lack of mechanical sympathy that Jason does when it's a corporate asset. It held up just fine.

I think this Genesis 22% growth has to be put into context a bit. Achieving such growth as a new brand with a fresh lineup and almost no sales to start with, is very different when compared to an 8% sales decrease of a competing legacy brand. Still very impressive vehicles and a great addition to the market that ultimately only benefits the end consumer.

This is excellent. It feels like it cost a million dollars to produce. Ahem, please don't lump the 90s W140 SClass with the early 2000s W220. As a former 140 owner I will defend it to the death. The media made it a story that the upstart Lexus was a better car but the test of time has made one legendary and one just "nice". The 140 is amazing and it's too bad that it gets sullied by the crap quality of the 220.

From awful old Tiburons and Sonatas that wheezed and rattled around to drooling over the new GV80 when it launched, you could see in 15 minutes the advancement some automakers have failed to achieve in a century.

I’ll always remember when Gordon Baxter, an avid flyer and one of the most popular writers for Flying magazine, was also writing about cars for C&D. He famously proved his thesis that in the state of Texas, even as big as it is, that if you positively had to be there you drove and didn’t fly. Pissed off a lot of flyers and made a lot of car types happy. Gordon was a crazy Texan and made me proud to be born here. But he was just one of a dozen greats. Not sure if any modern magazine, outside of perhaps Playboy, that had a better stable of writers.

As a second owner, of a 4 year old 1986 Hyundai Excel, l really appreciate how well and true this episode was. My wife and I have had one luxury car, ie. Jaguar XES, M3, X3M40i, and one Hyundai Tucson, Santa Fe, Palisade. Looking forward to replacing my X3 with the upcoming GV70 Electric. Hyundai Genesis has really come along way. This channel is easily the best automotive content of all time.

Don't forget that Gensis also has a ton of really great quality of life features. You can have your car back itself out of a tight parking spot so that you aren't potentially opening your door into someone else's car or attempting to get your things inside of it in a uncomfortable way. They have done a ton of Industry first things even if they still need refinement, its good to have a strong competitor in the market again

Cammisa (and Randy) along with the production team at Hagerty really are putting out the best car content on RUclips. There are lots of reviewers out there but they’re all missing something. These guys are the only ones that come close to the old days of Top Gear. My only complaint? There’s not enough of it.

I enjoyed everything about this video, and I mean absolutely everything. So I came to the comments expecting praise for the video production, but not to the level that I saw when scrolling through. It's a testament to the output of this channel when most of the comments are about praising the production quality of the videos while few actually talk about the car - and the G90 isn't a bad car at all. Keep up the good work Hagerty team.

I really need Hyundai to release a new two door coupe already.
My '12 Genesis 3.8 RSpec is getting old. Considering a Supra or Z next year, but I've really enjoyed owning my Genesis. It's given me zero issues in a little over a decade of ownership. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Hyundai/Genesis, but I'm not a sedan or SUV guy. I need a manual coupe.

Test drove the Genesis GV70 SUV (base 4cyl) a couple of weeks back and was floored (both figuratively and literally) at how good it was. 300hp is more than enough for my needs. Styling, performance, ride, technology, warranty...all simply amazing. Definitely looking to pick one up, though tough choice with the GV70 Electrified due out next year..

I had to pause at 0:27, go to the comments, and ask myself, "Why am I teary-eyed?" It must be because I've always been one to root for the underdog and I can already tell this -- like all of Cammisa's work -- is going to be excellent. Seeing how far Hyundai has come since the days of the Excel just makes me very happy. It's also the fact that Jason Cammisa sets the bar very high when it comes to the quality of content he brings to the table. He's the S-Class of car reviewers. Now, back to the video... 🙂

The Genesis not only has ANC but has Dolby Atmos with 6 arrays of overhead drivers. I test drove one a week ago as I’m a very much involved in the high end a/v industry and am a car enthusiast as well and admittedly efficiently imaging overhead audio when the listener is sitting in the nearfield isn’t a simple process. The end result however was quite convincing, the power train was linear and produced more than ample power, the brakes were potent and the suspension was as good if not better than any car in its class. They’ve come quite a ways…

I’m a satisfied LS460 owner (purchased new in 2008), and have been sad to see Lexus lose its way a bit in recent years. They are not ahead in terms of quietness, tech features, etc. and losing their edge in quality and reliability. At the same time, I think of Genesis as the new Lexus in terms of quality, appealing design and features. It’s sad to see V8s go extinct but electrification resets the entire game. Hyundai Group is well positioned for the electric era and electric Genesis vehicles will feature very highly on my future shortlists (GV90 is probably next). Another brand I would take a look at again in the new electric era will be Cadillac.
