This is a short video using the Hex Innovate GS-911 Wifi Diagnostic reader to check out the error codes on my 2020 BMW R1250GS Rallye.
My original intent was to check and reset the ABS error codes after I'd destroyed my front ABS sensor, so the first part of the video looks at the device, where you connect it and my initial look at this (though it did raise some other points too).
Later I run it again (2 weeks on) to see what has cleared. As it turns out, it found a couple of other things too, including a cruise control problem and the omnipresent exhaust flap problem.
    This is the device:
    www.hexgs911.com/
It's the tool that I didn't know existed, and I didn't know I needed, (I assumed a dealer was the only option) so as you can probably tell, as a BMW owner, I'm a fan. It helps me check things that would otherwise be unseen, and while I can't fix all the problems, yet, it gives me an idea of where to look.
    Thanks for watching

Thanks. I have two or three more that I’m filming this weekend, tyre pressure sensor setting, sports dash changing (with the track view…) and the turn signal light options. Hopefully they’ll be up on the channel a few days later.

This reader is a good idea to carry on the road/track, Andre. It might save you a few days in case of trouble. Besides this device gives you the good feeling of being in charge ;-) Gotta wash the Transalp from last weekend now, cheerio, Günter/Nürnberg

Yup, though it only helps with the diagnosis… I suspect I’ll still have to visit a dealer from time to time for a fix. Glad to hear the Transalp is getting muddy! Winter is over 😁

Nice video Andre. I have one of these and I think it's a must have if you own a BMW. I used mine a few weeks ago to cycle the ABS pump when I flushed the brake fluid. BTW, a Snap On ratcheting screwdriver is an ideal tool for BMW bodywork.

I set my cruise control and kept increasing my speed till i got 1 mile a min which was 64 mph tft indicated is that a adjustable parameter using the gs911

The brake fault codes are due to the abs not active when the bike has not moved after starting the bike. I don't think you need to clear them. Think does the same for the traction control.

  • @matthewsmith-wright2295
    @matthewsmith-wright2295 Год назад +1

It'd be worth taking some screen grabs of the errors, then fully clearing the codes and going for a bit of a ride, then checking again. I find on my truck when I have an error it's normally one thing that I have that sets off all the others. Could have been the previous fix that set them all off.

Yup. Will do. I’ll also try the window application on my laptop, as I think that does more and tells more than the mobile app. I’ll bring it to TN if you want the fortune of you SKRR telling!

Can we use this gs 911 obd 2 for a 2016 bmw s1000rr which has a round pin connector using a female connector? Does the software recognize a 2016 bike? *Pls help*

Hi, I think that’s a question for HexInnovate. I’m pretty sure it is as I think they cover bikes back 20+ years. They also do two versions of the device, one has the round connector.

It would be super useful if you could get a device like this for every bike.
Should be standard equipment on every new bike, but, the dealer network is probably against it.

    • @PeakMotorcycles

I guess the ODB readers tell you a few things, but not like this. As for the dealer networks, I’m sure they make good money out of diagnostics… (I heard that some BMW dealers use these units too… )

It’s Wi-Fi, but doesn’t need to be run through your WiFi router. Your phone connects directly to the GS911 as if it was the router. Same as how Wi-Fi works on GoPros.
