Greets from another old mechanic! A few days later... Bought the UCSI-2100, the adaptor harness and the ultimate license. I paid 144€ for all. Checked it out and it worked from the beginning. Had an I-ABS issue with brakebooster, the rear circle pump ran all the time. Cleared the failure, ignition off and back on ... tadaa, mission completed. But i will replace that system by the wcs automotive replacement kit anyway. I never trust my current system again. Thanks again sir!
Great video. I’ve been using Motoscan Ultimate with my 2017 R1200GS for over a year and it has paid for itself many times over. Between this and the BMW maintenance & service manuals on DVD (that I bought before they discontinued sales to owners) I’ve avoided considerable expenses.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have an old GS911 and recently bought the UniCarScan UCSI-2100 adapter which works fine with my R1200R. I've installed the "MotoScan" app but I´m in doubt whether to buy the profesional or the ultimate version. When I do an engine sync with the GS911 (lock idle actuaters) the bike is idling very rough afterwards and becomes even unridable. You can repair that by doing a "reset adaptation values" with the GS911. But afterwards you have to relearn the gears, it's explained in the contextual menu. I contacted the helpdesk and they advised me to do a firmware update of the bike which I did. But it doesn't cure the problem, the problem persists. So I do it like you, Old Mechanic.😊 I don't know if the MotoScan has a function to lock the idle actuaters when doing an engine sync. After the firmware update of my bike, once and a while I can't display the outside temperature on the instrument cluster.
Awesome, I have a F800 and a K1600GTL and do a little tinkering. I was considering the GS911 until I found some alternatives online. Your side by side comparison has tipped the scales in favor of Motoscan. Yes I would like to see the licensed video.

Hello Old Mechanic, at 4:52 I can see the picture with the OBD II interface and at 6:03 I can see that the interface is different (ELM 327). I guess the correct is the ELM which is the one connected to the motorcycle. Buy I also want to confirm if OBD II works for this bike or not?
They also sell their own obd interface, which so far looked best built from from the ones I had. Many Chinese do not work, or quit operation after a short while or disintegrate into pieces. It's costing way more, than 10 bucks, but at the end is reasonable, if it holds trouble free. Plus they warrant their software to work with it. In general, I have found the ones relying on WiFi connection to work more reliably than the ones on Bluetooth.
From USA, looking forward to more info. I have found that great tools are not expensive ...they are priceless. However, this seems to possibly be a good alternative. BTW, love your videos, sub'd and t-Up! I also own the same bike! Tis a wonderful machine!

I'm really glad that I found your channel. I have a question, that I am hoping that you may be able to answer. I have a 2009 BMW K1300R. It was not fitted with the optional TPMS, but I now wish to add this. I can get the wheel sensors, but I do not know if if is possible to program or initiate the electronic system with the Motoscan App to show the tyre pressure values on the onboard computer display, where you can toggle through the different functions. ik heb ook beide. ik heb de gs911 maar de pro versie (ongelimiteerde vin) en ik heb ook de motoscan ultimate. Ik gebruik beide. maar de gs911 speelt korter op de bal met nieuwe modellen toe te voegen. de motoscan neem ik altijd mee als ik ga rijden met de motor omdat deze minder plaats inneemt. als je de normale versie hebt van de gs 911 kan je probleemloos upgraden naar een pro versie tegen betaling.

Motoscan is certainly better value than the GS911, though to perform ABS complete brake bleed the Ultimate software must be purchased. Looking forward to TOM (The Old Mechanic) performing a front fork oil change on an ESA suspension.

It turns out that the cheep obd2 scanner isn't in stock anymore. But if I didn't had one at this moment I would go for that more expencive one as thats more future-proof 😉

is the limiter will give you an option to remove it? i will picking up the S1000XR and i heard they will remove the limiter when you have it service. sadly i don't take my bikes @ dealerships after purchasing it. im doing all my service for cheaper price.

Has BMW released a list of what functions are available for the K25?

Hello Old Mechanic. I received my UniCarScan USCI-2000 and have the Motoscan App Ultimate version. My BMW is a K52 (2018 R1200RT). I wasn't able to find Tire Temperature feature on the app? And, when I choose ESA in the app it displays a not connected to controller message? Does the engine need to running to connect to the ESA controller? Do you have any suggestions? Did it work for the professional Version to code and set service things like with this WIFI OBD? Would like to have one for an BMW R1200GS from 2007 to change Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor and code new ones. If this works with this OBD and the Mootscan APP. Doing some checks as well as reseting error codes and so on. ABS pump activation and more. I already have an Adapter cable for my BMW motorcycle. Would also need and buy the RDKS learning system tyre valve activator tool for tyre pressure monitor sensor roundabout 13 EUR. But I don't want to spend 100 EUR or more just for this OBD adapter. But this price about 10 EUR is very fine if it will work. Did someone try it with the professional Motoscan Ultra APP Version?
I'm using Motoscan Ultimate. Purchased some cheap aliexpres cable convertor (from that bmw round connector to OBD2) and some cheap ali Wi-fi OBD2 dongle. Works like a charm. Although I'm no expert with Motoscan but to access MOT (adaptation etc.) the key has to be turned ON and Neutral selected ! Otherwise I can't access it on my 2004 Dakar.

@@TheOldMechanic TOM, ik heb op de site gekeken zoals je suggereerde en het zou moeten werken. De K1300GT heeft een ZFE regeleenheid en die is benodigd voor de kalibratie van de schokbrekers. Nu alleen nog even een Androïd telefoon zien te scoren ik heb namelijk alles van Apple en dat werkt dus niet kom ik net achter. Evengoed bedankt!
@@TheOldMechanicin 2019 I also tested some cheap chinese interfaces. 1 out of 3 was only able to read apparently well. No one can write. So I bought the recommended UnicarScan Ucsi2000. After three years maybe some new Chinese version got to work properly.

Hallo, Voor mijn BMW R1200GS van 2011 ben ik, na het zien van de video, aan het oriënteren op de unicarscan-ding-geval. Waar kan ik die motoscan app downloaden? Het staat niet in de appstore van Apple Ik lees dat die app alleen werkt met Android. Klopt dit? Zelf heb ik een Iphone. Het zou fijn zijn als die app ook werk met IOS. Kan het nergens terug vinden. De video's zijn zijn top. Hebben zeker nut gehad bij het zelf onderhouden van mijn GS.

Hello Old Mechanic. I received my UniCarScan USCI-2000 and have the Motoscan App Ultimate version. My BMW is a K52 (2018 R1200RT). I wasn't able to find Tire Temperature feature on the app? And, when I choose ESA in the app it displays a not connected to controller message? Does the engine need to running to connect to the ESA controller? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks from British Columbia, Canada

Did it work for the professional Version to code and set service things like with this WIFI OBD? Would like to have one for an BMW R1200GS from 2007 to change Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor and code new ones. If this works with this OBD and the Mootscan APP. Doing some checks as well as reseting error codes and so on. ABS pump activation and more. I already have an Adapter cable for my BMW motorcycle. Would also need and buy the RDKS learning system tyre valve activator tool for tyre pressure monitor sensor roundabout 13 EUR. But I don't want to spend 100 EUR or more just for this OBD adapter. But this price about 10 EUR is very fine if it will work. Did someone try it with the professional Motoscan Ultra APP Version?

I'm using Motoscan Ultimate. Purchased some cheap aliexpres cable convertor (from that bmw round connector to OBD2) and some cheap ali Wi-fi OBD2 dongle. Works like a charm. Although I'm no expert with Motoscan but to access MOT (adaptation etc.) the key has to be turned ON and Neutral selected ! Otherwise I can't access it on my 2004 Dakar.

@@TheOldMechanic TOM, ik heb op de site gekeken zoals je suggereerde en het zou moeten werken. De K1300GT heeft een ZFE regeleenheid en die is benodigd voor de kalibratie van de schokbrekers. Nu alleen nog even een Androïd telefoon zien te scoren ik heb namelijk alles van Apple en dat werkt dus niet kom ik net achter. Evengoed bedankt!

@@TheOldMechanicin 2019 I also tested some cheap chinese interfaces. 1 out of 3 was only able to read apparently well.
No one can write. So I bought the recommended UnicarScan Ucsi2000. After three years maybe some new Chinese version got to work properly.

That's a really unintelligent thing to do on a BMW, they are already engineered within an inch of their life.
My ultra cheap MotoScan could do what my grossly overpriced GS911 could not do, something as simple as a 12H to 24H display change.
Gs911 WiFi is a great tool very quick and easy to use but as mentioned over priced

Hallo Tom, ik krijg bij de door jou gedemonstreerde OBDII adapter telkens de melding error, 'no connection to unit'. Hij verbind eerst wel (groen lichtje), als ik dan een categorie aanklik kapt ie er mee. Is de connector van 8,50 euro gewoon slechte Chinese kwaliteit, of doen ik iets verkeerd?
Kan maar zo aan de kabel liggen

Zelf heb ik een Iphone. Het zou fijn zijn als die app ook werk met IOS. Kan het nergens terug vinden.
De video's zijn zijn top. Hebben zeker nut gehad bij het zelf onderhouden van mijn GS.

Motoscan doesn’t work on Apple / iOS apparently. Android only.
I'd say neither. Just learn E-Sys and it's pretty much free, just get a $10 cable.

Beste old Mechanic in uw aanbod via de linken Merk ik op dat er twee obd units zijn. Ze verschillen enorm in prijs. De vraag van mij is welke ik moet kopen om alles te kunnen met Motoscan voor een Apple. Ik hoor het graag, groet mervin
Helaas werkt de Motoscan app alleen voor Android
Mocht je bv een oude android foon hebben dan werkt de UCSI-2100 perfect. Ik ga daar binnenkort een video over maken 😉
