Just make sure you have the bike software update to date to access all the software. Initially I could not access all the options due to out of date software on my bike. Had it updated and 💥 access to all the good stuff. Thanks for watching and your comment. Cheers. Billy
Ah mate. Never mind. Just helps to know what's wrong ahead of that dealership conversation. Hope it all gets sorted. Thanks for watching. Cheers. Billy
Ah ok, mine id not. Need to investigate if its a software update or diagnostic tool option for older bikes. Judging by your comment its probably a software update. Cheers. Billy
I'm wondering how important the hardware is in all of this. I do have a code/diagnostic app on my iphone for my BMW car. And a independent hardware dongle to connect to about the same port as shown here. The dongle just provides the wifi and of course the read/write capability. But the magic is all done by the software. I don't doubt that here the manufacturer takes care that you really have to buy the whole set, but does anybody know if this is all necessary?
Agree that these devices are just the interface to thew software and in that respect again you are right that the software is where the magic happens. The GS911 does provide the ability to manipulate the softeware and probably others do as well. Can't do it without them. Cheers. Billy
Hi mate. Thanks for watching and your comment. I am not sure on that one. Its these tools are interfaces for the software on the bike so very much depends what the diagnostic tool has been set up to access and I don't know what that is for the OBD LX tool. If you have one worth trying. Let me know how you get on. Cheers. Billy
This will have to be done by your dealer. Depending on their level of service you can either have the update at request the next time it goes into the service centre for something or if they are really good they may agree to ad hoc updates IE just phoning them and booking it in for an update. Mine cost £15 to update as a charge. Hope that helps. Cheers. Billy
If you are referring to the start up animation M screen then you will need to access the software on your bike via a diagnostic tool like the GS 911 that gives you access to the options for changing the start up animation. If you mean the M sports screen that displays your revs, speed, gear etc then that option falls in the menu button on your left side handle bar buttons. Hope that helps. Cheers. Billy
Yes, the HEX GS-911 is fully supported in many languages. The thing is that the language translation is done by their global network of distributors... so some languages are more UpToDate than others... especially for the sections of the GS-911 which are new (like new features from an update). These sections might still be in English... awaiting translation, depending on the language. 😁 The language selection is in the GS-911/Setup/Options page, within the Device software interface. Hope that helps 👍. Cheers. Billy
Hey there thanks for watching and your question. Click on the link below and enter your bike VIN, this will tell you which GS911 is the right one for your bike if Hex have one for that model www.hexgs911.com/vin-decoder/ref/BillysBikeAdventures/ Good luck. Cheers. Billy
@@BillysBikeAdventures I tried it myself and it didn’t work, so I was trying to find my way round. Many thanks once again. With this, u have just made me committed to the channel.
My R1250RS has the sport screen which is selectable by means of the TFT menu options. No need for a GS-911 to do this. Do you mean that with the GS-911 you can code the TFT so that the sport screen comes up as the default instead of the bar graph type rev counter screen when you switch on?
Spot on, yes. But older bikes like my 2018, will require that software update to access that 'sports' display that is an option is settings without the GS911. Cheers. Billy
Hey there. Thanks for watching and your question. The software update has to be done at a Motorrad dealer. Ask for that at your next service or see if they can do it as a stand alone request. Once that is done, the GS911 is the interface to access the functionality of that software. You don't need a laptop or computer. You can use a tablet or smart phone. Same info will be displayed as a laptop just on a smaller screen. You will need the GS911 app to do that. Hope that makes sense. let me know if you still have questions. Cheers. Billy

You talked about software updates at the dealers I was told they bmw only allow updates now if there is a problem with your particular bike? Not on demand.
I am not sure that is accurate. I asked my dealer and no problem. May be a dealership thing but you are entitled to ask for it. If not doing it for you, poor service. Cheers. Billy
@@BillysBikeAdventures Yes, I was on the pre-order for a GS911wifi Pro. The Hex GS911 Forum has several others reporting the same as me, the features you describe do no work on any K600 '22 or newer with a TFT. I've opened a ticket with Hex code and there has been no response/fix.
Thanks for that i was wondering if i can change the display on my bikes! I can't even begin to say enough great things about the GS911 it has saved me over 1000$usd since i bought it ...I had a throttle go out and i was able to program it without the dealer . I had to take apart my 2019gs engine and fix a 1-way starter clutch bearing issue and re program 2 sensors in the process it is the #1 must have tool for BMW GS owners, if anyone wants to know what its like to take a BMW 1250 Engine apart check out this video ruclips.net/video/kOVSjmU6BSE/видео.html

Love my GS911. Was able to clear service reminder and put cool new startup sequence on TTF. The GS911 community blog is awesome as well!
Hey mate. Thanks for watching and your comments about your experience. Will check out the community blog. Thanks for mentioning it! Cheers Billy
Did not know this existed until finding your video. Just got one ordered through their website, Thanks!
Thanks for watching and hope you find it useful 👍
Mate thanks for that gave me a very clear and concise insight in how to use the 911. Mines coming tomorrow, great vid 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching mate. It will prove useful I am sure. A great piece of tech.
It’s the total nuts
Even on my 2015 gsa
Great to hear that you have and continue to enjoy your the GS911. Thanks for watching. Cheers. Billy
I wish I had that today I got a fault in the bike same bike as yours but got to take it in to get them to look at it now but great video
Ah mate. Never mind. Just helps to know what's wrong ahead of that dealership conversation. Hope it all gets sorted. Thanks for watching. Cheers. Billy
Been around for a while now but like all hex stuff not cheap and doesn't fix any faults!
True, so probably not the tool for you.
Fault code was dash not.sending message to ecu. You need a tender to put 14v to do any programming safely. Clear the code you should be good.
My 2022 S1000XR came with the "sport" screen option!
Ah ok, mine id not. Need to investigate if its a software update or diagnostic tool option for older bikes. Judging by your comment its probably a software update. Cheers. Billy
You can add 2 more screens as well unless yours had the M sport pack factory.

Yes you can
@@BillysBikeAdventures Thank you, do you change screen on TFT?
I had a GS 850 2020...and now I would like to update the ECU firmware to 2023 .. what is the procedure for that

How did you keep the battery voltage above 12.5V when programming? I could see on the screen it was only 12.2V when you were describing the process…
Hi there. Well spotted. I have a Optimate charger plugged in to the bike so helps when doing things like that. Cheers. Billy
So only the latest software from bmw will work? Can you share your software version please? I just got the bike and don't know wich version I?have!
023-012-030 is the software version on my GSA. Cheers. Billy
How do you get this on the screen? My dealer has no clue and neither do I, please let me know....
Hey mate. How do you get what on the screen? By screen you mean TFT? Can you be more specific please? Cheers. Billy
@BillysBikeAdventures yes. How do u get the M screen to show up. My dealer is clueless lol. The M sport screen on the TFT
