Very interesting recipe. I’m going to try it. I’ve been a chef for 45 years and I’ve never cooked a hot dish with mayonnaise so that was a first. Thank you for the recipe. Love the music very soothing.
Sitting down tonight to finally read and reply to comments and this is so nice. I'm no "chef" this was a bit of a lockdown project that got a few followers. Comments like yours make my day. Thank you so much!!
Hi Chef Rick! I have been researching recipes for this dish. This one looks really good. My groceries have just arrived and I'm excited to get started. I'm looking forward to celebrating Coronation Day with my neighbors across the pond. Thank you for sharing your family's recipe with all of us. Cheers. ;))
The Coronation Chicken looks very tasty and this recipe seems to be straightforward and relatively easy to make. Thanks for the no nonsense presentation -- you earned a new subscriber!
Any suggestions for substitution of mango chutney? I live in Oregon, USA and can't find it anywhere in stores here. This dish looks amazing! I want to make it. Thanks

I enjoy the music, its very soothing and the volume is low enough in the background to hear your instructions. I do have one question though, when you say leave it overnight do you mean in the fridge ?
Excellent, made this last night for the celebrations on May 6th, yummy, can't wait to eat this tonight, thanks so much, explanation was perfect and easy, new subbie,.
Sorry!! Just seen all these views and comments. Thank you so much for the kind feedback. It is delicious! And yea, leave it covered in the fridge overnight.
@@chefrick247 You did not make that clear at all, you said leave it out overnight. You never mentioned put it in the refrigerator and leave it overnight.
Many thanks for this recipe, just followed the instructions for some amazing results. Split the mixture between some chicken and mushrooms to make a veggie version. Nom nom 😋
Tempted to try this as you made it look easy and really appetising. Is this really sweet? That’s the only thing holding me back slightly. By the way Lidl do a lovely approving jam. It’s usually always sold out though. Had to subscribe as I feel I’ll be able to cook great food following your teaching technique 😊
I watched the late queen being crowned and have eaten ' Coronation Chicken' many times over the years on special occasions but choose to serve it cold on yellow (turmeric added) rice. Always a hit. However i dont think this quiche will become as popular.
Ok I’m an Aussie ,I adored our queen but does this dish have anything to do with the coronation or coronation the show or her majesty her self lol just asking. It looks yummy
Hiya Leanne! I honestly have no idea? Someone here might tell us both. I know it is often cold with Raisins. Mines is just a family recipe as I say in the vid. When I uploaded it I didn't even think about the upcoming Kings coronation. The video got loads of views from that so I was really happy! Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy making it.
No! And my wife and I have just seen/heard this bit in the middle of the video and cant stop laughing! I thought it was nice gentle Chopin all the way through!
Why don’t you cook in a bit of stock as in poaching along with the onion! I think this was served cold since there were more guests than usual. It might have been a buffet. It was served over rice at Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Brunch.
Oh my goodness I made this almost exactly (I added strawberry and pineapple jam instead of the chutney and apricot jam) and it tasted amazing🤩🤩🤩🤩. Why do you leave overnight though? Is it ok to do so with the milk products.
And with chicken? In the US we are so nuts with safety, I was really surprised to see this. I can't think of any cooked dish I would leave out overnight. OTOH, I do think that we (in America) have gone way overboard and have likely disposed of an awful lot of what was in fact, perfectly safe food, that had been left out for even a few hours.
Meanwhile, I would really like to make this recipe for Saturday, but I'm reluctant to leave it out overnight. Come to think of it, this same sort of question came to mind with Julia Child's recipes in which she would marinate, iirc, lamb for days on the counter (I'm probably confusing the details). Clearly, our forefathers didn't even have refrigeration, and they kept things for days (according to what we read in books from past times). I guess we'll never know.@@weatherandsky
@@jogregg6442 I made it and didn't let it sit overnight. We ate it immediately and refrigerated the leftovers. It still tasted amazing!! I didn't want to take any risks with leaving it out. Our stomachs are too gentle 😂. I have friends who spice up old meats and/or leave them out to marinate and I end up with a sore stomach hours later after eating it ... They are all fine though maybe because they are used to it.
i was saddened no street parties in Australia and a yearning a little for the special coronation food. after looking at this (and the quiche) i wish everyone an enjoyable day! and thank god i don't have to eat it.
I made your recipe today, and it was delicious! I can’t believe I actually found curry powder in my suburban Nashville, Tennessee supermarket - but I did 👑
I remembered the music sounding really nice at the time. Read these comments and watched the video back. We're all dying here (pun intend). I will change it! Glad you liked the vid otherwise
I love coronation chicken but had to wait until after the big expensive party to eat it though so that nobody would make the mistake that I'm celebrating the magic inbreds
Waaay too much waste while chopping that onion (it adds up!). There are better way to chop an onion that doesn't waste any. Nonetheless, Happy Coronation Day!
Shocked. He's serving it hot. Where's the red wine vinegar? Ummm please tell people at the beginning you are making a hot dish. I just lost 10 minutes of my life.
Cutting the onion in half isn't chopping, it's called slicing... most of what you did to the onion before actually chopping it, was just slicing it... same with the chicken, you sliced it, you didn't chop it... Some chef you are...
It’s beautiful music!
Большое спасибо, прекрасно изложено, теперь я уверена , что и у меня получится это замечательное блюдо😊 ❤

sorry everyone YES put it in the fridge!!!!
Love the music, so beautiful!
Looks great - I will make it for the 6th may ! - thank you to you & (your Mum) for the recipe.
Great teaching especially for me. Thank you. I will try this as soon as I buy the chicken and will let you know

Where’s the raisins ? 😢
Whoa !! Really rather simple and my goodness it sounds absolutely delicious.
It's on my list !
I appreciated the classical piano
what can you use instead of chutney.????
Great question, I really thing you need the mango chutney. Maybe some fresh fruit compot?
I thought this was terrific, just astonishingly good. No I didn't leave it out overnight. I do wish Chef Rick would answer that question.

Hi you make the best the others didn’t cook their curry powder and spices
Can you tell this USA person what brand of curry powder???
Hi Diane, It's all the same in my experience, use any you like, If it was just for me I'd use HOT but really any will do.

Great tip! Love that! I'm a huge mushroom fan and will try this with "Shrooms" soon, So happy you liked it.
What NO sultanas?!
Almonds and coriander...
No raisins..?
I would put in the fridge overnight iwould not take any chances good video
I think he meant to say refrigerate overnight.
Could I use less chicken as there are only two of us😊
Why is Handel's "Dead march - Saul" playing in the background? Is this for a funerary feast?🤣
Iv just made a coronation sauce, it was not good 😂 so came to RUclips, this looks so nice!! I think mine needs to go in the bin 😩😩

Hi Rick, can you eat the cold as well as hot?
100% Cold and in a sandwich on thick white bread!
How much Curry Powder? The amount was not specified in the video and is not listed in the recipe ingredients. I'm going to make this tonight!
Hi David, it's 3 Tablespoons and I've added that to the description now. Hope you enjoy making it!
Tried this but it tasted like chicken tikka masala instead, what did I do wrong?
Without being patronising...did you add the mayo? Thats the ingredient that really changes this dish

The original Coronation Chicken was prepared by Constance Spry for the banquet after the coronation I believe.
Was Chopins funeral march a deliberate choice?
No! And my wife and I have just seen/heard this bit in the middle of the video and cant stop laughing! I thought it was nice gentle Chopin all the way through!

Ok i will make the chicken but let me go and clean the vitro ceramica, the cooker( dont know how you call it! ) I was suffering! 😅
Thank you chef Rick for this dish, you explained it great!!
oh... It's 'Chopin's funeral March. Naughty chef!!😁
Can you please write out recipe
Смотрела в другом ролике с каким-то сиропом готовили . Здесь проще , заменили манго джемом .
Great video for recipe. Music does not support your video, as it is contemplative, ie a book and a glass of wine, not action.
I found the music distracting, Chopin or not! Maybe at my age I need ALL my powers of concentration!! 😀
I always thought Coronation Chicken had fruit in it?
I mean this recipe of Chef Rick has mango chutney and apricot jam in it. I'm sure that those ingredients are made of fruits.
Oh my goodness I made this almost exactly (I added strawberry and pineapple jam instead of the chutney and apricot jam) and it tasted amazing🤩🤩🤩🤩. Why do you leave overnight though? Is it ok to do so with the milk products.
