- A strong and dynamic yoga practice.
"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving..." MLK
When we practice yoga, we should aim to restore movement of any area of the body that has lost its full range of motion.
If a certain pose irritates a part of the body, we should modify the pose so that it doesn't cause pain, and say to ourselves, "It's not that I'll never be able to do this, but just maybe not today".
And don't give up or lose faith if it doesn't come in a day or a week, or a month.
But keep moving, and you'll be amazed at how resilient the body can be.
For example
Some have expressed that a deep squat is too much, or the kneeling position bothers knees etc...
In the method of yoga I studied, we would suggest using a prop to elevate the body into a position that feels more comfortable, and over time, gradually, week by week, slowly lowering the prop and moving toward the full pose.
I'm still here. This was an excellent class. Your commentary is not preachy, but insightful and inspiring. I am practicing these positions in my 70s so that I will be able to do them into my 80s.
You rock!🥳
👍
Great to hear!
Agreed. Not preachy at all. But still, preach Tim!
I loved this flow though I wish we still did the shavasana together at the end. I like the feeling that we're ending each day together rather than having to click another link to replay another video. It feels more special that way like we're all in this together, but that's just me.
I love that! I agree.
Thanks for the feedback.
I agree, it feels a little incomplete to me, to have to switch to another video. I have trouble just doing it on my own. But I guess I need to try that to complete the practice.
It is not just that you I would also prefer that we do shavasana together...
I agree!
Thanks Reverend Tim
😂😂😂
👍
Anyone else having a Deja Vu listening to Tim? Pretty sure I did the exact routine yesterday
ah nvm it's actually edited together, with the same socks, that's so cool haha :D
👍
😉
Merci Tim 🙏 Sylvie 😊🐾
Je t'en prie 😉
If your preachy, I’m a disciple 😉. Thank you as ever for sharing your knowledge. Love the pace of your classes.
You are so welcome!
I've always been taught that yoga is supposed to be "active body, quiet mind" but it's a tough fine line between self-study and inner critic, so I was happy for all the preaching (and for a practice that could be done with comfy socks, optional)! Thanks, Ray
You got it. Thanks Ray
Excellent session, your guidance is brilliant and inspiring. I am grateful for having an instructor aware and conscious of the importance of maintaining the balance between our mind and body to obtain better results. Namaste
Thank you so much. Namaste
Really appreciated the quiet that came in the second part of the balance portion -- gave us time to reflect on the “preaching”
Haha. Thanks!
Not preachy, you are sharing wisdom and your experience. No inner critics allowed, thanks for the reminder! This practice showed me several parts of my body that need to be worked on, i will be back.
Thank you!
Great class! Love 30min and even shorter morning classes. People with jobs and family often do not have more than 15-30 min.
Understood. Thanks
Thank you Tim, good advice about the inner critic! Was an excellent class! 👏
Thank you!
Woohoooo Tim coming in hot with the leg burners 🥵! Day 20 was a good one waking my legs up. Went ahead and did the wrist mobility warmup right before and felt the benefits right away during the flow. I've decided to make the wrist mobility part of my daily morning routine before anything. Thanks Tim 🤙🏾
Good to hear it. Thanks Sean
Oh those holds, Tim! Loved it.
Glad you loved it.
Thank you Tim for another awesome class. Yes, it was definitely challenging in some part but it is all go. It is the practice & discipline that bring us to a different level. Poses we do all the time get stale & boring but a practice that challenges us ultimately brings us all into a power we feel that we can. Empowering. Much blessings as you continue to guide us.❤
Thank you... It's the spirit of what the Japanese call 'kaizen' - continual improvement.
Thanks, Tim! This was a great practice. That long plank at the beginning became a challenge before it ended. I often can't hold the poses as long as you do. I love the MLK quote. His birthday was Sunday so it's nice you mentioned him.. Maybe that's why you think you sound preachy today. Like Edward, in the comment below, I am practicing these poses at 70 so I will still be able to do them when I am 80. Namaste.
Nice! Thanks Vicki. Namaste
Done this + Lower body mobility 🎉 Much love❤
👍
Hi Tim, super class today, I loved it. This challenge is excellent. Thanks so much. I've been practicing regularly for 5 years. After all that time, I finally got into a squat position for the first time ever on Dec 28th last year! So stoked. Thanks for your help and encouragement.
You're so welcome!
Thank you for another great class. And thank you for including the links to the savasana videos, it saves searching for them 🙂
You got it. Thanks
Chuckled at the striped socks comment 🙂 Nice long stretches, strong balances, and your comments are so not preachy - I always pick up nuggets of wisdom in your sessions. Loved the 'want to get better at a pose - keep doing THAT pose'. I've been out of commission with the flu for most of this week, this is my first class back in the challenge, I am easing back into it . Looking forward to tomorrow, thanks, Tim and Ollie 🙂
Sorry to hear about the flu Darlene. Be well soon! 😉
thankyou Tim ,always so informative.learning so much from you .peace love &gratitude.plus your humour adds a beautiful bonus too my day 😁🙏
Great to hear. Thanks
Thanks a lot Tim!
You're welcome Jayson
Pure happiness! I loved your comments today 🙏🏻
Have a great day Tim and Ollie 🫶🏻
Thank you!
Tim I forgot to tell you…I absolutely love this class today. I’ve done this clas alone about four times!! Thank you so much❤
You're so welcome and thanks for the feedback
Day 20 - Again I loved this dynamic flow, as we were holding the positions longer, my thighs were on fire today ...🤭 Thank you Tim and Ollie!
Cool. Thank you
I’m still here too!🎉 I love the part where I put a soft weight on top of my feet to support rolling back. very helpful. You are not preachy but very helpful. Because I’m having the same issue with pigeon. I am loving the learning to get comfortable with suffering but like a good suffering where you’re on your way to becoming a stronger better you. I like that. Thanks again Tim see you later Ollie.
That's the spirit. Thank you.
Still here! I always say Tim thought me yoga through you tube 10 years ago. And I still think you are one of the best instructors I’ve practiced with. Your ability to make sure we understand how the positions should feel in the body and to connect to the right muscles and find that mind body connection 👌🏽🙏🏼
Thanks for the nice thoughts.
This was amazing Tim, thank you so so much!!
You're so welcome!
Your commentary is so wonderful. It's such a tension reliever to be in a tough pose and then break into a grin after you've said something clever. The levity is appreciated---and certainly not preachy!🙃
Thank you Gilda
Thanks for the laugh to start the session. I did not have striped socks, so you can imagine the relief I felt! 😄
Haha! Thanks
Thank you, Tim. I really enjoyed the longer holds in today's practice - challenging, but feels very worthwhile.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can’t thank you enough for doing this! My flexibility is getting back! It’s easier to walk, stand, and I feel I’m getting stronger.
I am very grateful! Thank you, Tim ❤️
You're so welcome!
That's awesome!
Thank you Tim, it feels so good to do your exercises. After my office job I am very stiff because of my back problems, after your exercises it is much better.😍
Good to hear. Thank you.
There was some suffering, but definitely happiness too. I feel energized to start my workday! Thanks Tim en Olli!
Our pleasure!
That’s was a great lesson. Really didn’t want to get on the mat today but did and am grateful I did. I agree with Edward ,your lesson was not preachy at all. Blessed to be part of this community. To all Namaste 🙏🏼
Thanks so much. Namaste
Yes the inner critic certainly comes out in me! I have a lot of Virgo placements 😊
I hear you! 😊
This is really one of your best, Tim. What you call "preachy" is in fact a perfect intellectual accompaniment to the physical experience of this beautiful, powerful sequence.
Nice comments - quite poetic! Thank you 😉
This class felt so balanced and considered. Thanks Tim!
Glad you liked it. Thanks
Loving the practice today. So grateful for your thoughtful work and your instruction. Preaching is not a bad thing when done with love.
Thank you Mark.
Such a wonderful class dear Master. From Mexico I’m with you always. Thanking you all the time. I’m 76 and getting better and better. 😍
Awesome and so good to hear. Thank you
My favorite class so far!
Good to hear.
Most important thing I learned from you is to give myself a time. I stopped judging myself when I started following you, and I went from struggling in pigeon even with blocks, to being able to place my forehead on the ground. But I still have days when I can't, so I just stay on my elbows and smile.
Love it. Thanks!
Loved the class as well as your messages. I really needed to hear that if you want to get better at something, do it often until you get better. Simple yet profound. Thank you and namaste!
You're welcome and Namaste!
Another tough class, unless I'm just sore from yesterday. I'm still here though looking forward to what you cooked up for tomorrow. Thanks Tim.
You got it. Thanks
Thank you Tim! A wonderful class
Glad you liked it. Thanks Adam
Thank you Tim!
You're welcome Stefano
I love this class pretty much. I think, it's one of my favorites, and I will repeat it over and over. Thank you, Tim.
You're welcome Ute
How was that? Feel the pain in order to be in peace and have happiness? OMG I just love it!!!
Nice! Thanks
So good Tim, many thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Namaste Tim, I really appreciate your non judgement approach. Thank you
You got it. Thank you
I'm a bit behind the schedule due to a virus, but slowly catching up. I've done todays Vagus Nerve Stimulation (day 25) before this class and maybe because of that I was able to relax much more and concentrate on the breathing. I loved this class! Intense but relaxing. I must say I love this years challenge, it feels much deeper than the previous ones, packed with lots of knowledge. Thank you Tim so much for all your effort and sharing your knowledge! I will be adding a few more weeks of repetition before moving further practice on CMC
Thanks Andrea. So nice to hear the Vagus Nerve Stimulation helped you with this session. Looking forward to seeing you on the CMC. 😉
Thank you Tim for your advice
My pleasure!
Empowering practice, Grazie!
Prego!
The class didn't feel preachy at all to me, just nicely informative! I love that I understand the yoga philosophy better and better each time I visit one of your practices and am very grateful for you sharing your insight🙏
Thank you Veronika
I found out about your classes years ago. Yoga is not my main discipline. I m more of a combat sports guy, so I get injured a lot. I always use your videos to pull myself out of the ditch of inactivity and weight gain after injury. They have been really helpful over the years. I really understand the value of regaining mobility range and all u describe! So I guess I just wanted to say thank you...keep at it bro. Namaste!
Thank you for the very nice comments!
Still here in Australia! Thank you Tim for your wonderful insight to the practice and nurturing voice makes this a pleasure. Grateful ❤
You're very welcome
Thank you for the reminder to embrace the uncomfortable.
👍
This challenge is just great. Feel better day after day. I am zen and stronger. Less Back Aches. More confidence better breath. It helps also for other sport. Thank you so much for that. Namaste 🙏
You're so welcome. Namaste
Started practice later in the day today but grateful I got to it. Starting to notice a shift in my practice which is very exciting. The benefits of working at something every day. Parts of my body are starting to open up in ways they haven't before (or not in a long while). Some of the pointers you are giving I'm finding very helpful and come to me in different poses during different practices; Tim's words of wisdom. Thank you
Glad to hear all this. Thanks Nadia
Great Class. This once leaves no stone unturned. and gives us enough time to stay in the pose and explore how to make it work best for ourselves. ThanksTim,
You got it. Thanks
the holds were long for me today, but I breathed and relaxed into them and focused on a drishti and stayed present and then they were over, thank you for this class to work with my soul and body Namaste
You got it. Thanks Leisl
Thank you! Namaste.
You're welcome. Namaste
Wonderful class. Thanks Tim!
Glad you like it. Thanks
Still going Tim!! A little behind but I am catching up!! So great. What a wonderful, thoughtful series. Thanks for being the BEST!!!
You're welcome. Thanks
Strong and amazing practice! Thank you Tim!
Glad you liked it
Another great class Tim! Still with you on this 2023 challenge. Thank you for your wise teaching.
Also I’m curious as to any books you’d recommend on learning about the anatomy and physiology related to yoga as well as other yoga books to go along with this challenge. Have you read or are you familiar with Science of Yoga by Ann Swanson? Any recommendations would be appreciated 😊
Great. Thank you
I like Dr. Ron Hruska's work with 'Postural Restoration', and the work of Dr. Guy Voyer.
Thank you Tim, I loved that practice! You are the Best!
You're so welcome! Thank you Isabelle.
My inner critic was in full swing in the first few stretches when I was a bit wobbly, you called it out and my focus in the standing balances was totally different, breath and mind engaged - no wobble! Loved this preachy practice 🙂
Glad you love it. Thanks
I love the “get comfortable with the uncomfortable “ I had a yoga teacher that used to say that and I would repeat that in my head especially while doing hard run workouts!
Great class thank you
Thanks for sharing!!
Despite of all the preaching😂I really enjoyed these poses, a bit heavy sometimes but good food for thought for the next weeks🙏have a nice day everyone!
Glad you enjoyed 'em.
I love your classes so much. This Challenge has help me a lot. Thank you so much.
So good to hear that. Thank you Ceci
Thank you , your words are listened too ! X
Thank you Susan
Great practice Tim. Thank you so much!
You're welcome María
Feel the burn baby! Thanks for tossing in nuggets of wisdom from the pros like Thich Nhat Hanh! Loving every second of it.
Glad you loved it. Thanks Brandon.
Great practice! I was glad to hear a thich nhat han quote!
Hi, Tim:
I really felt comfortable in the class today. Missed the Savasana you used to do in previous vídeos.Namasté 🙏🏼✨
Good to hear. As I may have mentioned, the metrics tell me that not enough folks stick around long enough for the Savasana at the end of the RUclips videos. That’s why I don’t include it on all the videos. For the more serious students there are the CMC classes which all include ad free Savasana. For more information click here: timsenesiyoga.com/consciousmovement
I enjoyed the "preachy" part.
Nice! Thanks
Been keeping up the yoga streak all month and today's practice was one of those where I was like WOAH - how did I just DO that? Thank you Tim, so grateful for your teaching.
Rad! Thanks.
I'm sick with a cold, but I'm still on the mat. I haven't missed a day, Nothing can stop me😄🤍 thank you Tim for your great work 🙏🏻❤️
You're so welcome!
This was a good challenge for me today! I appreciate the knowledge you share!!!
You're so welcome. Thank you
Thank you Tim
You're welcome
Such a great class, Tim. The pose where I stand on my knees with arms in front and try to lean back is so difficult. I feel like I got back about an inch. But oh, wise yogi, as you said at the end, only practice will make this better/ easier.
Yes! True. 😊
Thank you for the insights and the longer holds.
You got it. Thanks
Thank you. Still with you!
Great. Stay with it.
Still here! And your cueing is perfect. Not preachy at all. Also, your leaning back is very impressive! Lots of practicing that pose, clearly. You continue to inspire me on a daily basis. Grateful always.
Thanks Michelle.
I feel so good after doing this! One of my favourite workouts you've done. The balance between ease and challenge was just right.
Great. Thanks Rodney
Love the accessibility messages in this challenge, and today's class specifically. Wonderful yoga philosophy! Thank you.
You're so welcome!
Doing this after a really intense workout I tried for the first time, i was shaking right away in the holds. But made it through and this was great. Thank you and Namaste!!
Persistence power! Namaste
I have been doing this class for several times now and still love it! The flow feels so good and your ‘preaching’ really puts me into the moment and keeps me very focused, such a great way to start my day🙏🥰
So good to hear. Thanks Pauline
This was nice. I had to take a few days off and missed yoga so much. Glad to be back ❤️
Welcome back!
senti lugares que não imaginava sentir 🥲 isso foi intenso. Obrigada!
Ótimo ouvir isso! Obrigado!
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
I liked the longer holds. And the preaching :)
Nice! Thank you Susan
Loved the class! And found it interesting to be in the poses for longer than usual. Couldn’t keep up with staying in the pose at times but trying not to judge myself here. Thank you Tim!
You have the right attitude. Stay with it.
This one was quite challenging. Had to shorten the poses a bit cause I couldn't hold them long enough. BUt I enjoyed the flow and really feel stronger than when I started the challenge. Probably gonna do this one again tomorrow. It's gonna be a bit longer than a 30 days challenge but I am planning on practicing daily for more than one month this time so we'll see how long it lasts! Thanks for your fantastic job. See you tomorrow!
NP and you've got the right idea. 😊
Jeepers - that first plank was insane :) :) :) thanks (I think!) xx
Ha! Thank you Ali
Right? My shoulders were shaking uncontrollably. whew!
2.0! Did this later in the day so didn't think I'd get through but I did (with modifications) I can't believe it 🥳 and BTW never too preachy... every bit helps.
Thank you and glad you made it!
Thanks!
You bet!
I love your sense of humor
Glad to hear it. Thanks
Thanks 🙏
You're welcome
