  • It turns out there are 9 types of intelligence, according to developmental psychologist Howard Gardner who first came up with the multiple intelligence theory in 1983. He realized that soft skills were actually different types of intelligence. Therefore, just because you aren’t good at math or languages doesn’t mean you are not smart! We all have strengths, and when we hone in on those strengths, we further develop our natural talents. That’s right! We are all talented in our own unique ways.
To learn more about multiple intelligence in psychology and find out what your talents reveal about your intelligence, watch this short video. You will find this especially helpful if you aren’t sure which profession would suit you the best.

I agree with this... And YES, EVERY Person has remarkable ways of "Intelligence"... but it often takes our OWN Intelligence, and patience & compassion, to see it in others.. I have worked with people with "Learning disabilities" and found many of them to have Remarkable insight into particular areas of thought.

The problem is the human need to quantify and/or rank people. Some people are good at some things, but terrible at other things. And some people are decent at a number things. It is how so many people use these concepts to classify and degrade people.

I have all of to these to some degree. I'm an artist with an QI of over 140, who has perfect pitch when I sing and has no trouble relating to myself, others, the natural world, figuring out most puzzles, reading and creative writing ; I got an A Grade for my English Language exam at school. In spite of my arthritis I still have good balance. My only big problem is with higher maths, I'm not good at equations or stuff like that, but, my life experience, I'm 60 has taught me good basic maths, for example I've only been slightly over drawn on an bank account , by a tiny sum, once because someone withheld a cheque and I was double charged by my bank, without warning, due to charging changes. I dumped that bank. Also twice later because someone I was buying goods from twice charged me sooner than they were expected to. So I would say that I am good at the arts, relating to the world, deep thought, but only basic maths. ❤️

People are capable of developing most of these types. And not only possess academic - mathematics or linguistic but other types as we become aware of life in general together with how we relate to self, people, relationships and our environment. Teachers see this clearly in learners and prompt that area. Holistic education should aim to develop a child in all areas as much as possible. 🙏

I took the Gardiner test many years ago (an earlier version, with only 7 categories), and it was illuminating. I have very high, nearly-equal scores in Linguistic AND Logical intelligence (Linguistics is slightly higher), but my Naturalistic intelligence outstrips them both. I have good or at least medium scores in every other category, excepting Interpersonal (my only weak one). Luckily, I've gotten better there since....

I think the only intelligence I have is trying to be careful about the future and the things that I do even though I’m contemplating too much about the past, future, and current time (when I’m doing online schoolwork or something else), though like the video said; I do like spiritual things, only it’s in a different way. Through the way that I learned less than a year ago (though near a year ago), I learned that there is God who is the most powerful, his spiritual son, the Devil, and the Bible prophecies/predictions proves to be true, and so much more ❤️. I know this since I’ve done so much research on my own, though at first used to be studying the Bible with someone else. These are my own beliefs though. I know that everyone is different from me, and I respect that 🥺

Thank you for the confirmation of my sanity as I seem to possess all of these and explains so much about me...I achieved an average of 94% in math and this was before calculators! !! I didn't understand the why's of knowing these equations until a few years ago but I found them so much fun to do...I see spacially too and this also includes people. ..I now know that I'm a Healer and a writer. ..people and nature are drawn to me...I feel people and events before they happen. ..I feel mass murders. I thought I was only feeling those souls dying however I've also have felt the person or ppl doing the killings up to a week before. ..I believe something happened yesterday besides the 3 trees across the street being murdered. ..it ripped through me and I cried for hours 😢

I think that all people have some level of the 9 types of intelligence discussed. The question that arises is that what levels of intelligence do we have in each of these area's. For example, when I was required to attend advanced Mathematics classes to fulfill the my degree requirements I was able to perform the various Math derivations required in Analytical Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Calculus, etc. As I grew older I developed my own forms of analyzing math related issues. I look as this as evolution of the thinking process used to solve problems. The evolution of your thinking process must change if you are to contribute in a particular endeavor.

This is all fine and good, but if a person isn't "smart", as defined by the narrow academic standards,(I'm talking, up to high school), it doesn't matter what kind of "smart" you are, to the "system", you are dumb. I think I may possess attributes, from some of the categories, not fluent in any one of them. I barely graduated High School, and wasn't "Smart" enough to get into university, or college. After p*ssing a year away, reality set in, and I needed a job. I had a hell of a time finding one. I took the first job I was offered, and I've been at the same job for the last 28 years. When people ask me about how long I've been there, they are polite, and say that's great. My response is, no, this is what happens when you do poorly in school, and have no ambition. Then I get the look, of "What's wrong with this person?" I don't think about liking it,or disliking it, I just go, because I need to. It's muscle memory at this point. I honestly couldn't see myself hopping from job to job, climbing the ladder, as it were. I'm a creature of habit, and I like comfort.

I went through the whole video and to each one I said "no, that's not me" until the last one. I was never good in sports. I couldn't play any instruments. I was always told I was weird. I always said that I think more like a machine than a computer. I see how things work and figure out how they are put together. I was pretty good at everything in school, but I was always tinkering with cars. I couldn't "tell you" how to tune up a car, I just adjusted the timing and the carbeurater until it "felt" fast. I could've been a race car driver or a stunt driver in Hollywood. I put my car wherever I wanted it on the road. Speed was relative to how I do things. I was never in the military because they said I'd never fly. I wanted so bad to be a fighter pilot. I would get the thrill out of roller-coasters without ANY fear. I could feel where I was going as I looked ahead on the track. I can understand why they said Dale Earnhardt could see how the air moved around his racecar. I could never be a teacher because I am a "Do"er. I can't explain things too well. That's why my comment is so long.

They might be highly intelligent and lonely because of it, getting a thumbs up (attention) probably feels real good. The loneliness has made them feral though, any attention (thumbs up or insults) feels better than being invisible. Their interpersonal skills need more work, they are probably awkward around others, but very gifted in other areas in their lives.

True intelligence is reason and application...the ability to see a problem or issue
apply what you know to solve the equation ..its common sense..an inate ability to solve a problem by applying what you know will work...It wasn't until I was older that I discovered the ability to write...I wrote a poem for a contest and won on my first try and have had many things I've written published
..I write editorials for local papers that many people have praised..I also draw..paint ..Isew without using patterns..taught myself to knit and crochet..I'm an excellent cook and have won contests ..I've always known things I have no way of knowing about medical information...people approach me and confide in me all the time and ask my opinion..I know about gardening..flowers..trees and vegetables..I was a bookkeeper..Dispatcher and office manager for 30 years...something I never considered I wanted to do..I have an ability to handle several tasks at one time..there are many many things I can't do..but I'm willing to try

For me, it is more like "Which areas am I weaker in?" Mathematical is probably my weakest. Although I can certainly do "Adding & Subtracting", the complex equations must also follow a "logical" path. "Logic" I do well with, but not the complex equations, or computer programming. I may have many creative ideas of how to Use Computers... I will need someone ELSE to actually Program it to do so.
But I have followed many different paths in my life. Partly due to a severe physical accident that has 'forced me' to change pathways at various times... And I have been able to "bring out" different types of "Intelligence" -- or combine multiple paths of thoughts and processing -- for different situations. An athlete in several sports, Singing in public performance levels, a Marine with physical strengths as well as Artistic and Teaching skills, a Professional Artist, Business Management, Training, Sales, learning to operate various vehicles from motorcycles on a Race Track to Buses full of passengers, to Semi-Trucks and oil-Tankers, and running community charitable programs, and even Emergency Medical services... and more...
All of these different paths required different thought processes and 'instincts' ... and to be able to 'adapt' to doing these things even though I have severe permanent injuries, From a very bad traffic accident shortly after my departure from Active Duty from the Marines.

Just like a pot plant, your mind will grow if you feed and look after it. I feel like I am OK ( not excellent) at the majority of these 9 spectrums. But it has took time and life experiences to reach to that point. I am late forties now and my children are more dependent, so I am learning at a faster pace than ever in my life.

This isn't a deficiency exercise to show you what to work on, it's to highlight who you are and give broad pointers to fields which should suit you.
If you're tall, basketball could suit. But if short, it's not telling you that you need to get leg implants.

We can work hard and become very good at most of these intelligences, but dont expect to perform in Carnegie Hall if not naturally gifted with musical intelligence (for example.) I play piano well through hard work but am only "gifted". with mechanical inclination.

@ 3:05: Experiencing the Mandela Effect, April, 2016 was Not the very best day of my life. However, it took me around 2 years at the minimum to realize and or not quite sure what occurred. **Negative into a Positive Experience. I learned from the experience with very slow to increased momentum over time. It should be understood my initial negativity hindered my ability to learn, comprehend and grasp the reality and or Mandela Experience.
