hi. I am a 12 yo girl from Europe and recently I've been very insecure about how my friends see me. So I started searching some things that can help me improve my opinion about myself, even though i always had succes at school and performed in piano. I'm taking a step back here and appreciating that you're presenting being "well educated" as a positive attribute, Anna. In a culture where anti-intellectualism too often takes center stage, it's refreshing and reassuring.
The value of a person has become purely visual instead of substance. What happened to a beautiful wall of books and conversation that stimulates your mind?

Thank you for mentioning the importance of culture and how stimulating it can be. I’m a culture worker myself - im a classical musician. I’m so sad to see mostly old people attending concerts. Maybe classical music is an acquired taste. Or maybe people are just intimidated and afraid they won’t get or like it. I think an appreciation for culture is something that needs to be developed ideally early in life. Parents need to bring their kids to cultural events, give them a taste of it so they may seek it for themselves when they’re adults. I’m not saying a grown up who never entered a hall or a museum is a lost cause - absolutely not. But it’s less likely that going to hear the symphony will come to your mind when thinking of how to spend your Friday night if you never went. Something I’d add to your already well curated list : learning another language. It’s difficult if you don’t get to practice it to become somewhat fluent of course. But if you can, it’s amazing what it does to your brain! It opens your mind too to discover that other languages are structured differently - and soon your own thoughts get built differently in you mind when speaking that other language. And most importantly it gives you the opportunity to discover people you could never had talked to otherwise - you don’t even need to be that good, confidence and curiosity are key! Thank you for another great video 🙏

Yes, you're right, mostly old people attending concerts. When I was at Royal Opera House two weeks ago, I saw a small number of young people. That's not so upsetting for me, but my boyfriend is very sad about the fact, that people of our age (25, 26 years old) in most cases don't like opera and classic music.
When I was a teen, my father and I went to the symphony once or twice a year. I loved it. I love music so much, I definitely share your sadness in seeing the lack of interest in classical through younger people. I’m in my late 30s and I have trouble finding anyone remotely interested in fine arts like classical music, ballet, paintings etc.

For me, someone who doesn’t know that much about classical music, yes, it is intimidating. It also feels like a very judgy environment, where you have to know a lot if things from the beginning and have to appreciate things in a very specific way, otherwise you will be branded as ignorant. So yeah, for me it’s difficult to find the potential beauty and joy under all that pressure.

This is such great advice! I have been a college professor for over 20 years and I wish my students understood this as well as you do. You’re a doll, Anna, and I enjoy your stress on “elegance”. In a world where social proprieties, manners, and putting our best selves forward sometimes seem to be on the wane, your reminders are uplifting and timely. I appreciate your programming immensely. Keep up the good work!
Birds of a feather always flock together...when you make friends with more elite circles and keep yourself healthy and educated and always reaching for higher success ... watch your life change! Always great advice here with Anna 💕
... until the cat comes. Are you suggesting that we shouldn't aspire to reach more prestigious social circles if we want good friends, or is it a misuse of the idiom?
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. So if you aren’t “ leveling up” look at your daily interactions and it won’t take long to find out why.
This is probably one of the best videos of Anna that I’ve seen. There are so much invaluable life advice here. I am happy to see Anna’s channel evolve in such positive way.
One thing I would add to this is being able to determine valid sources of information (i.e. don't believe everything you read on the internet). Is there a credited author? Is the information associated with a well-known, reputable organization? Are you able to find multiple reputable sources to back up one statement?
Expanding your food pallet is another form of "education". Think about it, if your mainly eating your local dishes. In my area it's a lot of beef and corn. Branching out to other authentic foods from around the world shows a side of you that is open to new experiences. Therefore, it is very enriching.
So good point no. seven! Those of us who had philosophy and logic in school are blessed with critical thinking and analytical skills. I obtained my Ph.D. abroad eight years ago, and I am learning new things every single day. Learning is an ongoing process. Exploring new places, reading books, and new professional information help, too! :)
That's a very important point! I studied politics 10 years ago for two years. In these two years (I had a really good teacher, who explained Carl von Clausewitz to us) I learned a lot about strategy, logic etc., which has helped me so much in so many aspects of my life!
Me too. I have a nursing degree but went on to also get a bs in sociology and an ma in holistic spirituality and healthcare. Every day I still learn something new.
I think us PhD holders know that we are constantly on the path of learning even within our field “of expertise.” Especially since I work in R&D, I learn something new often

I’m looking forward to taking my daughter to the ballet and symphony once she’s got the attention span to sit still for it. I used to love ballet & musicals with my mother, and the symphony with my father. My little girl already loves music and dance so much that she tells me often she wants to be a ballerina. 💕
@chelsea bunker ~ your little one might truly become a ballerina. I’m incredibly thankful my mom enrolled me in classes when I was young. I begged her. I performed well into my mid thirties. Ballet remains my favorite art in all of life, and I’m 62.
I 100% agree with ALL of this. When I started to travel and see all walks of life, it gave me true empathy and understanding toward others. One more that really resonates with me is proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation, especially in today's texting and email world. A brilliant person who has bad grammar and spelling just comes off to me as careless. I do 100% agree with critical thinking!!! Too many people are followers of everything they hear. It seems to be people go with whatever suits their current whim as opposed to thinking what is best overall.
Point 4, point 4, point 4 !!! Couldn't repeat it enough! Well said, Anna: "read whatever you want, (not necessarily classics) but READ"! Open up your mind! Thank you for remembering it to your followers. Love from Rome/Italy
Before the pandemic, we enjoyed going to visit the orchestra, museums and aquariums. We can’t forget ballet and modern dance! Can’t wait to visit those again
point 7 is spot on. i grew up in a more high end type of suburb and went to a very good public school where debating and fundamenting ideas was encouraged it wasn't until university that I realized not everyone was taught to think for themselves... to this day I am often appalled at how most people lack critical thinking skills
The US public education system is very much designed to mold you into a robot. It is quite a hindrance to personal prosperity. The whole system was created with the intention to instill nationalism and assimilate everyone into this culture that has actually had quite negative consequences.
My school experience was of going from private schools to a public school in a poor neighborhood, and it is so true about the approach to analytical thinking. In private school whenever we had to give a definition or example of something, we had to put it in our own words. At public school I didn't pass an exercise because when the teacher told us to write sentences down as examples of different definitions, I had written new examples and he had wanted us to just write down word-for-word exactly what he had said. It was very eye-opening.
My only suggestion is to not limit your research to Google. It's a start, but know how to seek out reputable sites and resources - like a library - not just the top answers.
One of the best things I have ever done for myself is taken an intro to law course and an ethics course. It really teaches you soooo many invaluable things that you really don’t learn any other way except maybe through experience, which can take a whole lifetime to garner! You don’t have to obtain a degree to go to college. You can totally just enroll in a couple interesting courses, take the knowledge, and run! You don’t have to commit 4+ yrs of your life to learn a few things!
Hey @CindyLouWhoXO I find it interesting that you say that. I would love to enroll in classes just for the sake of taking that one specific class instead of trying to get an entire degree on that subject, but the Universities I know usually only allow a limited and enrolled amount of students, so that no "outsider" could join the class. How do you do it, to just take classes that you´re interested in? Do you search them online? Or do you just go to University, sit in the last row and hope that noone kicks you out? :D
My mother always told me that experience is the best teacher. Certainly makes perfect sense being that when you get experience you gain knowledge of those experiences. I am a firm believer in that the truly educated never graduate. There is always something to learn.
Table manner is very important in Chinese culture. We only can sit the same spot as usual and cannot get the food far away from us. You should ask for the people near the food. There are so much more. People should check the program out.
I'm so grateful to you Anna!💝 Two years before myself vs me today there is a huge difference. I've become much more organized in every way possible. And will always try to be the best version of myself. 😌
#7 is absolutely true-I went to a fairly elite private K-12, then a strong public uni for undergrad & grad, and my high school heavily emphasized critical consumption of media and experiences. That meant an interest in not just consuming, say, a theatre performance, but also familiarizing oneself with the history and context of the program. That meant not just reading the news, but assessing its biases and reliability, and how it fits into a broader context. I would disagree with #8-the issue isn’t saying “I don’t know,” it’s not caring to change that status. The educated person recognizes that there’s plenty they don’t know, and when confronted with an instance of not knowing, is likely to consider how they would answer the question, or what they would suspect the answer to be and why or why not that might hold true.
Good morning Anna, I recently subscribed to your channel and I am very happy to have found you all my life i really like being elegant but a guide like you was missing in my life. not only for everything you teach us and the spectacular clothes you wear, but also for the motivation you leave in each message, I identify with you 100%, thank you very much! If people gave the proper use to the internet and used their time to learn to be better every day, this world would be very different thank you🥰
Anna is right! Curiosity is the key! No quick, easy formulas to "appear educated", but pursue answers to your questions and deepen your cultural experiene for a lifetime.
I come from a rural community. I am a retired Nurse Practitioner and had a big practice. I still do a bit of fill in for others, but would be fine not working at all. I have 4 degrees. I even was at the top of my class in two of those. As a female and a nurse, my intelligence and education are often underestimated. During my working life, I have been organized, effective and a mentor for others. I have travelled and worked in a variety of settings. But I do not put it out there! Haha! I suppose I could be seen as a bit scary. I love fashion and style and have pretty decent table manners. As I said. Many people underestimate me, but it sometimes fun to give them a bit of a shock when they pontificate or are condescending towards me! I can hold my own!
I love reading, listening to classical music, and going out to do new things. That's how I learned, and got to know what I like, like Anna was saying. It's fun, and opens up your mind too.
The best education is living in a multi socio economic world. Fancy and not fancy. Talking to all types of people. Connecting w them. Talking not about weather or your pets, but connecting hearts and sharing love.

I needed this! thank you. I really enjoy opera, ballet and theatre. It makes me feel the same way, I’m not sure why I stopped doing the things I enjoy but I know it’s probably what I’m missing!
As always I loved this video! This reminded me of my childhood because I would always hear people telling my mom that she has children que tienen educacion, children that have education, but this mostly meant in manners and how we respected people. A big thing for us is making sure we greet everybody in a room, even if we don't know them.
I like #7 - objective critical thinking, as well as #8 - curiosity. I would also add being open-minded to new perspectives as a corollary to critical thinking and analyzing, self-awareness and meditation, and always learning. Also, there's something to be said about higher formal education.
This was a great episode Anna, I love that it’s not the typical just get your degree you’ll be elevated. I believe today the people I meet without a degree but have had many life experiences are the happiest and most luxurious to speak to! You look gorgeous. 😍
Culture, hobbies, travels I call them "Soul food". If you don't know something it is ok with Google BUT it is not the only source of information. I am lucky because in the city where I live there are a lot of public libraries and they are free. Thanks Anna for your work. You bring light to this world.
@@TRUTHWINSALLWAYS Since the context is in and of itself about education, it is very much a different scenario and referring to a meta conversation. Context is everything in conversation.
@@TRUTHWINSALLWAYS if you would respect your own principles you would have kept this response to yourself. Food for thought what keeps your manners still out of context- and a great day.
When I lived in bigger cities, I was able to do all of those things - now, I'm in Mississippi (temporarily) and all I have to say is - Thank goodness for Amazon (home shopping) and the internet... Without these I would not be learning a new language, learning to crochet my own designs (to sell or gift) and I learned how to cook better meals, design my dream home and learn to put the power of manifesting to work...
With some of the greatest writers (Tennessee Williams, Faulkner, Welty) and musicians being from Mississippi, along with the historic architecture, why not explore that?
A college degree/education at a higher level is a ton of work, pressure, and research of areas that perhaps you never would even consider. Trying "new things" is great but dabbling is not an education. To stretch your mind in areas you are not passionate about or interested in, is a huge part of being educated, it takes you out of simply experiencing events but teaches you how to think, solve problems, and develop a theory of how to make the world a better place and serve others, that is the cornerstone of an education: to help others that didn't have the same opportunity. What you are describing is a life of leisure. An educated person specializes in an area of expertise.....we don't "google" we research and confer and apply those practices to help those less fortunate.

This is a good video, defining educated, but also how to... There are so many accessible informations online now. As a child I got the right foundational values from my family, but my curious mind allowed me to search for more, and by going to better (free/public) schools I befriended people whose families did run by correct manners, language / elaborate vocabulary (in french this is important), hard work, respect and interest in culture & arts...so you do end up levelling up alongside these families.

Also emotional intelligence/other kinds of intelligence are a thing-which intelligent people can recognize in others :) we are all intelligent actually, but in different ways. Don’t hold yourself down by thinking you are worthless because you don’t measure up to society’s definition of “intelligence”. (My mistake) eg.
Yup

Are you suggesting that we shouldn't aspire to reach more prestigious social circles if we want good friends, or is it a misuse of the idiom?

So if you aren’t “ leveling up” look at your daily interactions and it won’t take long to find out why.
This is probably one of the best videos of Anna that I’ve seen. There are so much invaluable life advice here. I am happy to see Anna’s channel evolve in such positive way.
Well said!
I agree. Bravo Anna!
I agreed 👍🏻
One thing I would add to this is being able to determine valid sources of information (i.e. don't believe everything you read on the internet). Is there a credited author? Is the information associated with a well-known, reputable organization? Are you able to find multiple reputable sources to back up one statement?
I'd be careful of which well-known, "reputable" organisations you believe to offer valid information, Brittany! ;)
@@lisabeaumont How was this meant to add to the conversation?
A hundred times, yes! Discernment and critical thinking skills are key to one's future.
you also need to question the mainstream narratives
CNN said it, so it has to be true 😂
Expanding your food pallet is another form of "education". Think about it, if your mainly eating your local dishes. In my area it's a lot of beef and corn. Branching out to other authentic foods from around the world shows a side of you that is open to new experiences. Therefore, it is very enriching.
Education should not be never stopped all our life. You are absolutely right, Anna!
My New Years ‘resolutions’ every year are mostly the things I select to study during the coming year.
I’m actually grateful for RUclips, I’m learning so much here, it’s so great!

The most important thing a lady can learn about elevating her life, is to elevate and nourish her mind, body, and spirit 💡 😊
Beautifully said.

I’ve noticed when you get your body physically fit, the other two fall into place.
Anna you look wonderful .... Like a picture in Town and Country!
You and your channel have been one of the bright spots on YT
Best Wishes! :)
Point 4, point 4, point 4 !!! Couldn't repeat it enough! Well said, Anna: "read whatever you want, (not necessarily classics) but READ"! Open up your mind! Thank you for remembering it to your followers. Love from Rome/Italy
You are incredible dear Anna. Waiting for your another master piece. 🍾🎊🎉🍾

11) Well Educated People, Educate the People Around Them.
Before the pandemic, we enjoyed going to visit the orchestra, museums and aquariums. We can’t forget ballet and modern dance! Can’t wait to visit those again
Even your voice sounds elegant... Elegance should be a goal... Thank you Anna!
point 7 is spot on. i grew up in a more high end type of suburb and went to a very good public school where debating and fundamenting ideas was encouraged it wasn't until university that I realized not everyone was taught to think for themselves... to this day I am often appalled at how most people lack critical thinking skills
The US public education system is very much designed to mold you into a robot. It is quite a hindrance to personal prosperity. The whole system was created with the intention to instill nationalism and assimilate everyone into this culture that has actually had quite negative consequences.
@@xCindyLouWhox i'm portuguese, but i feel like what you said also applies!
Same! I actually find the lack of critical thinking skills mind blowing.
sameeee
My school experience was of going from private schools to a public school in a poor neighborhood, and it is so true about the approach to analytical thinking. In private school whenever we had to give a definition or example of something, we had to put it in our own words. At public school I didn't pass an exercise because when the teacher told us to write sentences down as examples of different definitions, I had written new examples and he had wanted us to just write down word-for-word exactly what he had said. It was very eye-opening.
Oh Anna I so love your videos. I look forward to them every week. I also appreciate the lack of ads!!
I went to private school through the 8th grade, and I'm so grateful that I was taught at an early age to think for myself.
I must say it's a very important topic. Thank you, Anna.
RUclips pick yesterday video that I watched. Loved this video.
Many many thanks for this post, its just amazing , a very fresh look to culture.
You have such a pretty dress (not to mention your looks) , and you bring to our attention very realistic, yet useful ideas. Congratulation!
finallyyyy the 'my dear elegant ladies' is back ❤️❤️❤️❤️ i missed so much, makes me smile every time
In my opinion, the darker hair is really flattering to you. It brings out your eye color. Thank you for this video it was very eye-opening.
Love the way you speak so methodically and on point
Good morning Anna, I recently subscribed to your channel and I am very happy to have found you all my life i really like being elegant but a guide like you was missing in my life.
not only for everything you teach us and the spectacular clothes you wear, but also for the motivation you leave in each message, I identify with you 100%, thank you very much!
If people gave the proper use to the internet and used their time to learn to be better every day, this world would be very different thank you🥰
Beautiful episode Anna, thank you! I couldn't agree more. Such a well-rounded video. It's not a degree that makes someone educated.
Anna is right! Curiosity is the key! No quick, easy formulas to "appear educated", but pursue answers to your questions and deepen your cultural experiene for a lifetime.
Ms Anna you are the epitome of elegance .here, have a rose 🌹.
Favorite classic book. "East of Eden", by John Steinbeck. The young girl who burned down the house, later madam at bordello, my favorite character.
You're COMPLETELY RIGHT! I know people with degrees and still don't know how to behave in public....
I love reading, listening to classical music, and going out to do new things. That's how I learned, and got to know what I like, like Anna was saying. It's fun, and opens up your mind too.
I think you have succeeded to describe me.I also have the same passions

Wow, this episode is one of the best. I feel it completely changed my energy on different levels. Thanks so much
This look is so perfect for you. You look radiant.
Immanuel Kant never traveled outside his native city. I don't think he was poorly educated.
This video is all about consumerism, not about education.
One of my favourite videos of yours so far!! 💗 I think, these days, people don’t value education like they used to and it’s a shame.
I just want to appreciate how beautiful, and how well-put-together Anna looks in this video.
I needed this! thank you.
I really enjoy opera, ballet and theatre. It makes me feel the same way, I’m not sure why I stopped doing the things I enjoy but I know it’s probably what I’m missing!
This is my favorite video you have recorded. I have watched many times.
Best modern coach on elegance❤️
I took both of your courses, and I can say you definitely give over loads of information! I'd highly recommend!
This showed me that I am a naturally well educated person ☑️ I do all of this naturally.
One of your best videos so far! Congratulations and thank you..!
Thank you, Anna! Love from Russia

“Always try new things in life” - the best advice in the world.
This is one of the best videos I have seen Anna. Truly educational & on point.Thank you.

I can probably barely spell the word, but I am fluent in other languages :)
