  • Freesat 4K UHD Set Top Box Hard Drive Failure and Successful Repair
What to do when your Freesat Recordable 4k TV box has a hard disk drive error?
How to fix hard drive failure on a Freesat Recordable 4k TV box?
How to fix failed recording on a Freesat Recordable 4k TV box?
The Recordable Freesat 4K set top box uses an internal hard drive to enable to you record, pause and playback live TV.
Like all hard drives, they can fail.
If your Recordable Freesat 4K set top box starts to miss recordings, then this may be the first indication that the hard drive is failing.
The Freesat Recordable 4K UHD Set Top Box may also display a "something is wrong" warning screen when powering up.
You are given the options to reboot, delete recordings, or ignore.
But if the hard drive has failed, then you will continue to see the "something is wrong" warning screen when powering up.
So the only option is to replace the failed hard drive with a new working hard drive.
    Hard Drive : amzn.to/3NWzhm6
You will also need a TORX T10 Driver.

Satellite TV in Spain - Freesat in Spain - UK TV in Spain
We install UK TV systems for the Costa Blanca North and Valencia areas of Spain.
We offer TV systems to suit all requirements and needs for your home, bar or business. Whether you are looking for a new installation, upgrade or maintenance of your TV system, then we can assist you.
We have been installing and repairing satellite TV systems since 2003, with family members installing satellite TV systems years prior to that, making us one of the most established UK TV services in the area.
We can install new digital satellite systems, conduct fault-finding, carry out satellite dish re-alignments, removal of old satellite dishes, and upgrade your current system, or provide additions viewing locations.
With Freesat TV you have the best free UK TV service there is - with 150 subscription free UK TV channels, including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five, Dave and many more. And over 20 channels available in crystal clear HD.
Watch subscription free UK TV with Freesat
Watch free and legal UK TV with Freesat
Record UK TV for free with Freesat
With a VPN access the UK TV Catch UP services like iPlayer and ITVX on Freesat
We use only the best high performance 125 x 135 cm satellite dish - probably the best satellite dish for UK TV reception in Spain
We use only the best high performance LNBs - easily outperforms other LNBs we have seen being used by other “installers”
We use only Official Freesat or Freesat HDR recording receivers - including the Freesat 4K Set top box
When we install a Freesat satellite system, we use official Freesat Set Top Boxes. Some UK satellite TV installation companies offer you an Iberosat, Ferguson Ariva or GI Galaxy Innovations satellite receiver, claiming it is a Freesat Set Top Box. These satellite receivers are NOT Freesat Set Top Boxes, but basic “free to air” satellite receivers. These types of receivers will NOT have the Freesat logo, the Freesat Guide, Automatic Channel updates, a full 7 day programme guide, or access to online “on demand” content such as BBC iPlayer.
Satellite TV is still the most popular and reliable way to watch UK TV in Spain.
Satellite TV is live and direct from the broadcasters, in full 1080 HD, Dolby Digital Audio channels.
Satellite TV will not be closed down by the authorities for being illegal.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Thank you so much for this! I never leave feedback on these kind of videos but this is just fantastic. Box went down with the hard drive issue a few days ago. I was absolutely gutted as only had the box 18 months or so. I was looking at a replacement box for around £250 and this video has not only saved me over £200 but also let me continue to watch tv once i had removed my old hard drive until the following day when the hard drive got delivered from amazon! 100/10 for this one. Thank you very much sir

Thank you very much for this video, the hard disc failed after two years and I was looking to have to spend £230.00 for a new one. I am not very good at diy tasks but after watching your video decided to order a new hard drive and security bits to remove the screws. Everything was so easy, the job was done in five minutes and all seems to be working fine. Spent about £18.00 on the disc and screw removal bits. You saved me £212.00. Once again, thank you!

Do the hard drives not need software for the box to work? Hope not; the old Humax boxes couldn’t be swapped out unless you had the software to flash the drive with. Great video 👍

    • @SatTVGuy

When the new hard drive is inserted, the box recognized it as new, and performs a format of the drive. But then I check all new hard drives on a PC before installing them into the unit, so the PC formats it.

I have cancelled skyq and have a wideband lnb and need a freesat box that can be used with lmb. i see options online but can i buy a basic model and fit a 2tb ssd ?

    • @SatTVGuy
      @SatTVGuy  8 месяцев назад

If by "basic model" you mean the "blue boxed" non recording 4k Freesat box, then dont think so as it doe snot like the drives being connected to the USB port (i tried both an SSD and HDD and it did not recognize either!). Freesat offer a 4k recording box with 2tb drive, which may be more stable than a SSD as some people report their box shows "over heating" message with SSDs (although I have yet to see this message myself on my SSD Freesat 4k boxes).

Had a HDD failure, replaced a 500GB HDD with a 1TB SSD, box still showing hard drive failure, but does show the new drive with larger capacity and a temp of 31ºC
I reset the box to factory, and it still won;t accept the drive hasn't failed.
    Any idea on next steps?

Seems that they dont like all SSDs. They seem to incorrectly report heat issue. Go back to a mechanical SSD and it should work fine. Only advantage of SSD over conventional HDD is less noise.
