    Ok, I'll try and explain this briefly.
    For older systems, (sky HD etc) when you have 2 cables, it uses one to record and one for live viewing, or both for recording.
    With SkyQ (wide band) it uses 2 cables to collect all the channels across both cables which allows you to record more channels at once.
    If you Panasonic stuff, you can only use the older (universal) LNBs.

    If my smart tv has a satellite connection in the back, do I need an additional box?

    • @FreesatSpares
      @FreesatSpares  Месяц назад +1

      You can. As long as your satellite dish has a Universal LNB. You can plug it in and try it, it won't do any harm.

    can this lnb fit to an old sky hd dish

    • @FreesatSpares
      @FreesatSpares  3 месяца назад

      90% of the time yes. If you find you have a very old dish there are adapters for about 2gbp that will make it fit.

      Hi. It sounds like you have a problem, as the UHD boxes for Freesat should work with a skyq LNB. I suggest doing a full factory reset, and checking all your connections before changing anything

    Cool. Having ditched Sky years ago, I’ve relied on my freesat OLED Panasonic. But having dug out my old Blu Ray recorder, I’ve borrowed one line for that. So does this mean I’m reducing the channel list, or the old LMB type picks up all?
    Ideally I’d have 4 cables. Presumably need a new LMB for that?!

      if you have a QUAD LNB which is the most popular type installed in the last 10 years, you should be able to just run a new cable if needed. the extra cables are only needed for recording, 1 cable is enough for just viewing. check the video on how to ID a quad universal LNB

    Would the LNB as shown here be compatable to Direct Connect to my TV with Built in Freesat where the TV has a SINGLE cable connection? Currently if I connect our current Sky Q LNB It finds 128 channels when the scan is complete with descriptions and TV guide but no Picture signal. Thank you.

      I would suggest a hybrid LNB would be the best choice for this, you can switch the cables to use either wideband(SkyQ) or standard Universal. Check out our website www.freesatspares.co.uk we sell them all.

    Hi, I’ve just installed a Zone 2 dish and cannot get a program. Now I’ve gone for a zone 2 but I live in East Midlands, the reason for this is the old one started pixelating. I thought it would be better, but now not sure. Can you shed any light on the problem please. It’s an LGOled 65” brand new TV. Very strong signal strength from the Astra Satellite

      @@SPYDOC1 it's a really difficult one to give advice on when I can't see the installation things like trees in the distance might be causing an issue damage to cable and obviously if your dish isn't aligned correctly. And like this video talks about if you've got a wide band lnb be and you need a universal type you're not going to get a signal

    • @FreesatSpares
      @FreesatSpares  4 дня назад +1

      I always suggest if you have limited experience it's probably quicker and cheaper to get a local installer to assist you.

      @@FreesatSpares thank you for a promo response. It’s a brand new cable, dish, and the signal strength from the meter shows top of the scale, so really puzzled. It’s also a new tv, so the free sat is already installed. I’m thinking of changing the whole dish for zone 1 and if that don’t work, I’m up Sh” creek without a paddle,

      @@SPYDOC1 if you're using an analogue metre with a needle that really doesn't mean much because there's hundreds of satellites in the sky and you could be picking up on any of them... To help you there's a great app called satfinder which gives you reference points that you can line up the dish

      @SPYDOC1 4 дня назад +1

      @@FreesatSpares yes, thanks. While the TV was tuning, it did say Astra 28.2E so I’m assuming that’s what it was aimed at. I will have a look at satfinder now, thank you

    Hi I recently bought a SAMSUNG QE55Q80CATXXU 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR connected to the old sky dish to try get freesat channels but its scans nothing do i need to change lnb?

    • @FreesatSpares
      @FreesatSpares  5 месяцев назад +1

      you need to look up at the LNB on the dish, look carefully, if it has the letters H-V next to the cables that is a WIDEBAND, these can only be used on skyq and UK freesat Arris boxes. if it does have the letters HV you need to change it to a universal type, but also double check all your cables, and also make sure your TV is scanning UK freesat or Astra2 in the settings menu. thanks

      @@kamikazekaos sounds like either the dish is out of alignment or something called the TP list needs updating. Have a look in your TV manual and see if you can run a scan of channels in Blind mode, it will search every frequency, takes quite a long time.
