    The pressure we put on girls is honestly sickening. Most girls grow up and think that they've failed in life as women, if they aren't married or have kids. I teach my daughter to be okay with whatever life has for her and whatever she chooses.

      Is abstinence worth it? You dont have to worry about being tricked into manipulation from his magic stroke. Dont get used and dumped like trash. No unwanted pregnancy. No STDs. No ruined reputation. No regret. No sex tape or blackmail. No ruined relationship with God. The list goes on and on. Hope this reaches someone.

      You know that is interesting that you say that. When I hit my 40s I felt like a total failure. Just got asked on Sunday if I had any children which I do not at this time. I have thought oh I messed up my life pretty bad since I am not married or have children at this point.

      Honestly sexual abstinence is actually hard as a Christian esp in this generation people idolize sex and say a lot of things like oh if yall don’t have sex he doesn’t love you I’m js like ummm… And honestly seeking for God and staying focused on the word and praying really helps

    I got married at 29 and had our first child at 31 and 2nd at 32. I saw friends get married and I thought "when is mine coming?" But like you said "there is beauty in the waiting." I was celibate for 3 years before I met my husband...celibacy is the key. No one deserves to have your body but the person you're married to. It's never too late to start your celibacy journey. New sub here. Great video. #God1st

    I got married at 25 and I would definitely say the person I was at 25 and the person I am now at 34 are sooooo different. We had to grow up together which caused a lot of unnecessary heartbreak and drama. Even though we dated for four years prior to getting married, I definitely wish we waited a little longer.

    I hate when people say 30 is old when it comes to getting married, having kids, starting a career, etc. But God forbid a person dies at 30 now they’re too young to die, gone too soon, etc. People got to realize it’s ignorant to attach age to important milestones in life, better you do things at the right time vs doing it wrongfully and hating it‼️

I tried after being in a relationship with my husband for years I moved back home with my parents for like 4 months because living together while trying to abstain??? IMPOSSIBLE! As a young person trying to be a good Christian and trying to wait on God but also being anxious about finding love and getting married and buying a house and having my life together. I’m only 22 and saving myself for marriage and am in the process of purchasing my first home BUT ITS SO HARDDDDD. To trust God and to wait on him when sometimes I feel like I’m so far from him I need him to come thru for me NOW. You guys inspire me so much and your union is blessed and beautiful, thank you guys so much for being honest and vulnerable and for sharing your experiences with us ❤

    I'm glad you mentioned that there is purpose in singleness. There are tons of things I've done during this time that I wouldn't have been able to do. I've traveled a lot, lived in different states, and pursued some dreams I've had without having to be accountable to another person. Plus, I think it can help you to understand that you are not defined by marriage. It gives you more of a sense of self if you do the work.

  • @itsmekiaratee
    @itsmekiaratee 9 месяцев назад +7

    There is too much desperation around getting married which is freighting because people aren’t rushing to compromise and sacrifice as fast as they want to get married which is 1,000,000% what marriage is about. I’m married… I didn’t get married until I was 33 and I didn’t feel anyway about it. When I was younger I cared more but as I got older, I truly worried about it less and less. Age is just a number. The culture of rushing people into such huge life changing decision which inevitably lead to children has to stop. Too many people are creating their lives around what people say is ideal when God should be the only entity we care about regarding how our lives should go!!

    Jess and Jonathan I LOVE THIS topic. I am one who waited on marriage before having sex and ppl around me thought I was lying and couldn't understand why my husband through with it. It is amazing how society has turned waiting to be such taboo and impossible. Honestly, as hard as it was I am glad we waited even though for me I always said "I can't miss what i never had". But you said something about getting tired of waiting and tried to "help" God and that is something I struggle with daily. My struggle is because I never know whether I am trying to help God or I am doing what the scripture says when it says "faith without works is dead". How can one know the difference? How do we know when we are overstepping and when we are just working our faith??

    • @OnlyOneJess
      @OnlyOneJess  9 месяцев назад +13

      That is amazing sis! Big ups to you and your husband for making it through! For me I feel like when i was trying to “help God” I knew what I was doing was wrong and that this wasn’t the way also knew that I was supposed to be waiting and sitting still. But that is a really great question I feel like we can expand on that in an upcoming video! Thank youuu ❤️

    I have been abstaining all my life and i am in my 30s, it hasn't't been easy. With peer pressure and being told my standards are too high😂 Funny thing is every time i tried to lower my standards it didn't end well. I've been in relationships that didn't work out cuz I didn't want to have sex and you see them married to the person that chose to have sex I guess. I've heard lots of things growing up like cuddling and making out kinda makes up for sex. Did that and it messed up my head and relationship with God and the guys would always want more after that so, I'm at the point where I'm done. I'm sticking to my principles on abstinence and I'm not lowering my standards for anybody.🙌🏻🙌🏻 I believe the right person is on his way and I'm willing to wait because I know God's plans for my life are sure. He said to me "Don't worry I'm going to make a name for myself through your life and I believe Him. Everyone has a choice. Premarital sex clouds your judgment and can ruin your life.

    Jess and Jonathan-this was such a good topic. I loved that the gems y’all gave could apply to an individual or couple in a waiting season for any particular thing. I think it’s so important to remind ourselves of Philippians 4:11 and LEARN to be content in whatsoever state we are in. And I feel like the learning happens during the waiting season. My everyday prayer is “Lord if it is for me, bless it and if it is not for me, block it.” And I definitely feel like God has a sense of humor because I feel like I’ve been at a never ending block party, lol. But in all seriousness, I don’t want to be like the children of Israel and turn a 4 year journey into 40 years. Lawd knows I ain’t got that kind of time. Great job on this topic and I’m anxiously awaiting the next one!

    Hey Jessica, thank you soo much for Being so honest about how you dealt with your singleness, I felt like I was going crazy at one point in this single life. I felt like no one understands. However even though I am not married, yet, the storm has calmed down.
    It's good to know that someone else struggled in the same way I do, when I feel like God is in fulfilling his promise to me.
