Santana's first hits were 33 years before this came out, longer than most in the video have been alive. Even many big hit makers thru the years haven't lasted half that long. An amazing guitarist and musician. This song is along the old school lines of years past. Love it.

alex's voice is smoother which sounds better in the verse because its more of a latin vibe. Chads voice is sharper which is great for the chorus because thats more of a hard rock riff. cross the two and argument over

I have to disagree Alex has a smoother voice as pointed out but it fits this song better and his transition from the smoother versus to the faster more up beat chorus is more ideal to my ears.
+Holton Hamilton I agree. Chad's voice isn't right for this song. the smoother voice works better cuz is a smooth song. Chad's voice is perfect for the great stuff he normally sings like rockstar and photograph and animals...

Chad wrote it but his record Hey label didn’t want this song to compete with nicklebacks album release. So the record label decided to have another artist from the label record this.
It's hard to believe that he's only 21 or 22 here... his voice is so much more mature than his age.

Alex has perfect voice for the chorus, but as for the rest of the song Chad wins. His voice is raspier and matches the vibe better. The two of them together would be a perfect combo for this song!

Kroger's version was blocked from being released as a single by his record company. That's why he chose Band to sing the song for Santana. By the way, the Band version reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. It was also the version featured on the album "Ultimate Santana".
In May 2024, I went to The Calling concert here in my city, BH, in Brazil. It's amazing how beautiful Alex's voice is... he deserves more recognition. 💛💚

Great video, great voice... This song is very hard to sing actually. Between lyrics didn't have enough time to breathe 😜Alex did great job on this song. Santana's guitar palying is incredibly sweet and charming.
