I don’t care what anyone says about this band. This song is such a huge part of my childhood. After my parents divorced, my dad raised me by himself and we took car trips every weekend and this song was heavily played here on radio stations in Germany. Nowadays I live 600 km away from my dad and miss those times but I’m super grateful that my dad managed to raise me by himself and send me to uni ❤️

Because they "Sold out" and their sound changed A LOT from their early days once they got popular so old fans started saying that they were bad,and everyone else just went with it

As I get older, these songs that I listen to when I was a teenager are starting to resonate as I cross the same bridges these artists once crossed. When I was younger I liked the sound and thought it was catchy but now these songs have become higher resolution in my mind and I listen to the lyrics and the meanings more than I once did. It was hated as a fallout from Canadian radio having to play a minimum % Canadian songs. given Canada has only produced Justin Beiber, Nickleback and carley rae jempson at the time period its easy to see why them on repeat would drive people crazy.

Tragically hip were in their prime, Sum 41, Billy Talent, Arcade Fire, Alexisonfire, Sam Roberts, The Arkells just a little after. Plenty of quality music coming out of Canada at that time. These guys just took up most of the airwaves. For me the annoying part was many songs just sounded the same, but as I get older I appreciate them a lot more.

This song just plain rocks! Nickelback could have made it simpler, but they never came up for air in the first part of the song, then slowed it down a pace and reduced the volume on the music in the second part. Many people take the lyrical meaning to be a pennance for addiction, but I've always considered it more about the importance of not using and discarding the caring, loving people in our lives. Either way, this is Nickelback at their very best!!
I am 72 years old and grew up with the Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, and later the Eagles. Nickleback was a good band they had some really good songs, some not so good and some I couldn't listen to. But so did most of my favorites. Nickelback was alright, most of the hate probably comes from people who can't play an e chord on a guitar.

This song just plain rocks! Nickelback could have made it simpler, but they never came up for air in the first part of the song, then slowed it down a pace and reduced the volume on the music in the second part. Many people take the lyrical meaning to be a pennance for addiction, but I've always considered it more about the importance of not using and discarding the caring, loving people in our lives. Either way, this is Nickelback at their very best!!
I am 72 years old and grew up with the Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, and later the Eagles. Nickleback was a good band they had some really good songs, some not so good and some I couldn't listen to. But so did most of my favorites. Nickelback was alright, most of the hate probably comes from people who can't play an e chord on a guitar.

I'm not like a rock expert but in my favorite genre, as long as you aren't like super superficial and you have lyrics that take thought and talent you will usually get respect. Most rock fans I know treat Nickleback like they are some type of boy band with pop lyrics.
