My wife died in my arms three weeks ago at the age of 28. It was a sudden medical event out of the blue and despite my desperate attempts, I couldn't save her. Needless to say, it destroyed me. For the first three days I was completely inconsolable. After a week I started to function again and I turned the radio on for the first time since she died. Colleen Burns I’m sorry for your loss❤️ Had a long train ride home to North Jutland 7 years ago on august 31 2011 while listening to this masterpiece over & over again, I had just seen my brother for the last time after he unfortunately died during his work in copenhagen, he was working on the FN building as a construction labor, when a crane uncontrolleably threw him & the lift he was standing inside 2 stairs down, while he was busy manually moving it into a container which was hanging onto the crane.. 😓 That lift apparently didn’t have a remote... While about a year later, it turns out the people behind this project didn’t spend enough on the general security.. I wish people would be treated & taken better care off by the industries worldwide, who literally depends on everyone of us, so we could all live life to the fullest and thrive ❤️

When this song came out I was a young soldier, and when I hear it I remember the good times and fellow camaraderie of my fellow soldiers and the good times we had together.
It is so funny to look back and think that when this came out, so many people said they were washed up or finished as a band. This was less than a decade into their career. Here we are 30+ years after Metallica was founded. Unreal how much this stands up.
Where did you get that claim from? 1991 was their 10th year ( a decade ) as a band, and just 3 years ago they released their first video and played at the grammys. They were definitely not " washed up " as a band as you can see from each album they were improving so much. The only time they were really washed up was when jason left, james went to rehab. That could have ended badly.
The way I remember it, it was more like everyone was saying that they had "sold out" and were "too mainstream now" and because of that, it would be the downfall of Metallica. Which obviously didn't happen, lol.
I need to say, this song haves something special, it makes me cry almost every time i hear it, not for being sad, it's most of the time because of the solo, James's solo it's so full of something I can only describe as passion and energy, I feel it every single time, it's just something different, Lars and Jason killed it, the lyrics are perfect, this is a true masterpiece, I'm 18, and I have been a metallica fan since I was 4, not knowing it was them, I owe metallica a lot of things, but most importantly the passion for music, Thanks Metallica, I'll see you guys april 27th in Chile, my dream it will finally come true.
Every story I've ever heard tells me Metallica concerts are always a good time. Glad to see folks getting out and making memories after those last few years. Have fun at that show, sounds like it'll be something you never forget.

My father taught me this song on guitar around 9 years ago. Aswell as Come As You Are by Nirvana. This is so comforting and brings back so many memories. White and black guitar, fingers hurting, nicotine and bud light possessing the air.. oh to go back to 2012..
Same here! I don`t even listen to rock music but this, this gives me mixed emotions, sadness, revelation, relief, hope. Greatness is universal and can`t be ignored whether you`re a fan or not. This piece will be timeless.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I leaned to play it on the guitar when I was a teenager and I first listened to it when I couldn’t even speak English. When I heard this song live I teared up and almost cried. My favorite song in the world. One of the few modern pieces of PERFECT music.

As a Dad, I approve this honestly. He's right, we aren't always right and we can't control our children everywhere they go or what they do. All we can do as Parents, is just hope that they are happy and accept them for who they are.
Saw them live a few days ago and I cannot get over that experience. They played this song and instant tears came. I remember listening to this song as a little girl my dad always had Metallica on and the memories crept in. Metallica will always live on 🖤

My dear dear friend Tim passed away earlier in november. He died at the age of 33 years old and he was one year older than me. His birthday was the day before mine. So my 33 birthday will be hell because we always talked on the 4th. This was his favorite band and this song was played on his funeral yesterday. Fucking heart breaking and the sorrow wont heal. He was the funniest person you could ever know and always had a girl by his side. He never ever went home alone. And we partied every weekend and sometimes more than that for many years. He was awesome and I loved seeing him bring the ladies home. He will be so so missed by a lot of people. My life will never be the same again without him. I love him now and forever and Metallica will always be a reminder of him. So this song is for Tim

It will always be relevant. Especially if people keep getting dragged down by society to the point of depression, just because they don't go with the flow of the masses. Today's society expects you to just take it and swallow it down if people treat you like shit. They expect you to not fight back because that would be seen as "aggression" since they're blind for what they have done to you in the first place. Do not fall for that. Stand up for yourself and teach those asses to not fuck around with you! Some things in this world are worth fighting for, including your mental health.

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters , lyrics:
quote
So close no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say
And nothing else matters
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know, but I know
So close no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

Especially if people keep getting dragged down by society to the point of depression, just because they don't go with the flow of the masses.
Today's society expects you to just take it and swallow it down if people treat you like shit. They expect you to not fight back because that would be seen as "aggression" since they're blind for what they have done to you in the first place.
Do not fall for that. Stand up for yourself and teach those asses to not fuck around with you!
