I don't worry about FORM, i've installed an oil pan heater, and wired warmers to the Ambient temp sensor, I can drive around in -30c in electric mode no problem. The key is if you aren't using the gas engine and want to drive in electric, keep the engine fluids warm an oil pan heater works well.

I have a Pacifica Hybrid. Same hybrid system. The problem I have with it is that it runs for at least a week and burns an unreal amount of gasoline while it's running in FORM.

There better be an update for this FORM bullshit and my oil life going to 0% after 3 weeks. I can never drive it in electric mode. Jeep was not ready for a hybrid obviously.

My oil temp never goes above 190 . What it needs is heater on the oil pan and a cold weather grill cover included (150ish out of pocket now) would probably help . Cover is for eco diesel motors but will work

Hi, so basically if my 4xe displays the FORM message then I have to change the oil? Do you think this message would come up if its less than 5000 miles on the engine? That would suck if I had to do really early oil changes. Thanks!

  • @mowcowbell

I've been able to avoid FORM completely on my 4xe so far. Bought mine new in Oct '22. How do I do it? I never 'warm up' the ICE in mornings, my daily commute is less than 18 miles allowing me to stay strictly in EV mode. Winter temperatures here in Oklahoma rarely drop below 20F for extended periods. Every other weekend, I get it out on the highway for a drive for about an hour, getting the oil hot enough to burn off any fuel in the oil. Also, I use 100% gasoline in the vehicle, which is widely available here.

I should have just stuck was the straight gas wrangler, but of course being in New York, dealerships only had 4xes. Less than 950 miles and I already need an oil change? All the technical mumbo jumbo aside I'm not a mechanic but I know enough to see that an oil change in less than 1000 miles is pretty whack. Seriously considering trading this in for an older gas model wrangler

My wife and I have had a grand Cherokee 4xe for 3 months and I hate this vehicle. We are on Long Island NY. And she was persuaded into doing it and I never did. Now we’re stuck with this piece of shit and there’s so many other weird electrical things going wrong with it. It only has 2500 miles. I hate it so much

  • @the4xeguy

My dealership has reset the oil life 3 times in one oil change saying it's good. this week alone. Monday took my Rub 4xe in for 0 oil life and FORM (3rd time) was kept until Tuesday. they did get it out of form but used 1/4 tank of my gas. If jeep thinks I am going to do a 100 dollar oil change every time it Goes into FORM they can come and pick it up right now.... Seriously I traded a 18 Sahara JLU 3.6 for this.. The start stop needs to go in E-save. My FORM now is because my engine started I guess being -5C out, so i put it into e-save thinking this would keep the motor running and I could get it up to temp and would avoid FORM. Wrong after the battery is down to 95% in E-save if you are city driving the motor still stops when you are in rolling speed behind traffic and your RPM gets below 1000 or at a light or stop sign. Did it 6 or more times in one trip and my oil was not up to temp. (about 65c) NOT liking this at all. Love my Jeep not liking the hybrid process. Hate to say it, but if I knew now when I factory ordered my 4xe I would have stayed with my JL another year or two or ordered my Rubicon with the 3.6L

its just getting to know it in the winter. ive pretty much been in electric all summer which is great, but Ive only had it one winter so we will see what happens this winter coming up. I know the engine it going to run most of the time due to the cold. To bring the oil up to temp i will shift manually in E-save so the stop start doesnt keep kicking on and i can get the engine up to temp.@@fullhd1080

    • @SVW1976
      @SVW1976 7 месяцев назад

Straightened what out? The problem is the loose nut behind the wheel. 😂
Just drive the vehicle. You dont need to obsess over Form.
The engine needs to run once in awhile. Oil and gas can go bad in time. Those fluids just can't just sit there. They need to be used and circulated. My wife does the same thing all these other owners are doing. Obsessing over running strictly over electric. ITS NOT AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE! Its a Hybrid. Its meant to use both.
I keep ours filled with fuel as much as possible and our drives are typically less than 20 miles. If I don't get on it hard the gas engine might not turn on for days which usually kicks it into Form. So I let it do its thing and in a day or two it goes back to normal.

Yes they are. I haven't seen gas in the oil problem since back in the carburetor with sticky needle valve days. Add computer controlled fuel injection and oxygen sensor feedback, and all this is a thing of the past. I don't know what screwball engineer came up with this plan.

You have to be kidding me. Are you really suggesting that we 'guess' at how often to switch to Hybrid mode to enable ICE to avoid FORM? Silly. This sounds like a problem. It defats the purpose of the Hybrid.

  • @wkw4095

Best way to avoid this is to NOT buy a 4xe. I think others know this because dealer lots are full of 4xe's
