    When I went to go test drive mine it was in FORM at the dealership at a quarter tank of fuel. They filled it up and sure enough the test drive was done in all electric. I guess everyone goes there to see the electric mode and the engine was rarely on?

    Out here in California the last couple weeks I’ve been in form 4 times it took a 40 min freeway drive every time to clear it. The main issue is everytime it’s been the forever FORM which required me to go out my way to clear it as here it’s lots of short low speed drives

    Juuuust in case, if you are in form and has put gas and driven for a while. Press OK on the message in your dash. Mine cleared the form and was ok afterwards.

    I'm in Canada. Had the 4xe since december last yr. 28000KM, never had FORM. It does sleep in heated garage. We always hit the electric mode button when we leave to help prevent ICE start on acceleration and keep it below 75% Power. If we hit the highway, then i switch to Esave to run on ICE and once it is warmed up, either put it in M8 Hybrid or keep it in esave depending on distance we are going or if we want to keep some battery reserve further down the line. It's been working for us!

    I agree with you totally. I’ve had stage 1 FORM twice since it’s got cold (I’m in Eastern PA) and both times it lasted a few days. I have a 27 mile round trip commute and I typically run all electric to work then hit e-save for the highway portion on the way home saving like 3 miles of electric for when I get off the highway. So far this winter I’ve been able to go about 3 weeks between FORM returning. It’s tolerable IMO.

    First off thank you so much for sharing your experience and advice. It’s super valuable. I am from Canada and owner of a 2021 4xe. FORM never comes on during the spring to fall. Only comes on in the winter. Had an oil change done and FORM went away for a couple of days and then came right back. Gas is always replaced within about 20 days. I use 91 premium. Vehicle parked in the garage (not heated) The vehicle regularly goes into gas as my daily drive exceeds the electric allowance. In short drives, I always put to Electric. Recall and software upgrades done. But in the winter it’s useless and always goes to Form. I sometimes get away by shutting off and on the vehicle. I am also hearing a misfire on a cylinder and Jeep has not done anything on it so far. I also noticed dust in the factory original paint in a few spots.

    I've only had form issues under extreme cold/snowy weather, so far. And I think I'm okay with that. I'm (maybe pointlessly) comforted by the idea of the engine being at full operating temperature when I'm driving around in a blizzard.

    I'm also out in California, and I've owned the Rubicon 4XE for alittle over a month. So far I have only put around 1600 miles and I have not experienced FORM yet. My daily commutes during the week is around 23 miles daily, and I drive in electric mode only.

    My experience agrees with your video. I recently hit FORM for the first time at 3400 miles, in the SF bay area. Jeep is kept outside. FORM and first frost on the windows started about the same time. Jeep has been in hybrid mode, 2H. On my typical commute, the engine runs about 2 miles and electric mode for 14. I like the extra power, so not trying for all electric. It would run in electric, but if the engine started, it stayed on in FORM. It did this for multiple commutes. All my weekday trips are short and the engine often starts briefly. An hour long drive cleared FORM.

    After some research and becoming an "internet expert" on the Direct Injection 2.0 Turbo, I believe that many ICE-only 2.0T jeeps would signal alarms if the oil dilution portion of FORM was applied to them. Also, the corresponding oil life algorithm would show the same issues.

    It is cold here, 15°F in the morning, and up to 30° during the day. But just like last year, FORM started in November. Last year it went until March and came out after an oil change, recalls done, and software updates. I’m not expecting Electric mode until spring. Car is garage kept around 45-50°F all night.

    Hey Chris...think I got your name correct. I'm enjoying your utube 4×e clips. Have learned a lot from you.
    As far as form...I don't call it that. My display says AUTO-REFRESH. Last winter here in Charlotte NC my 4×e would go into form on occasion. Ninety percent of my driving is short distance so I was in elec mode as much as possible. So when it was in the 20s and 30s my form would kick in about every 4 to 5 days with elec only in between. She was doing exactly what it's suppose to do keeping the gas engine refreshed and oil circulation. Once it goes into form according to Brandon Hailine
    (Spelt last name wrong) about a 20 mile run using gas should fix the form and then back in electric for a few days. I've driven 2,100 miles on a tank...3 months. During the hot summer months this past year I NEVER had a form start. Only time I went into gas is when I wanted to.
    Lastly....I ran into the same issue recently you did a year ago. My elec mode went out and my cabin heating and cooling came on. Was not functioning correctly at all. Elec and gas back and forth. Took it into the jeep dealership in Concord and like I thought...the heater/coolant battery element went bad. Just like what happened with you only I didn't have to wait 3 months for the part. They had it in shop and installed in about 3.5 hours with a 8 mile test run. Mechanic/technician was great. He knew what he was doing. Jeep is back to normal now. I love this jeep. Remarkable vehicle.
    Sorry this was so long.
    Shawn W.

    I am in FORM last year with my electrical heater doesn't work. After replacement it is never come back again. The problem with no electrical heater is, that the motor kicks in right away without the mentions timer to warm it up, course the vehicle will warm the cabin to get the battery in a good condition.

    I can’t seem to be the temperature warm enough. It stays around 185° no matter what. 3 hour drives aren’t helping. We are having a warm stretch in this area, it is over 50° outside, still can’t get it warm enough. @@Wrangler4XEFansOutdoor temp was 45° last night I gassed it up, 7.8 gallons. I ran it through the car wash. I did an experiment with my 2021 in FORM, I drove for an hour, I could not get it above 190°. I idled in E-save until it shut off, it got up to 206°F. I idled with Maxregen on until it shut off, it reached 208°. I idled in plain old Hybrid mode until it shut off, it reached 212°. It actually came out of FORM! Parked it for the night in the garage, put it on the charger. In the morning I drove it gingerly for less than 3 miles in hopes to not accidentally run the gas engine, and FORM came right back. The ICE was not needed by HVAC or throttle, it just went into FORM. So frustrating. It is as if the “FORM timer” is not resetting once it comes out of FORM.

    I'm in Phoenix Az...It's a 100 degrees here now and I just went into Form. I have owned my 4Xe for a month now. I do short daily trips and pretty much use all the electricity daily in Hybrid mode. I have been charging every evening. Now that it's in Form, do I set this to E-Save and just go through a tank of gas to see if I can get out of Form?

    • @Wrangler4XEFans
      @Wrangler4XEFans  Год назад

      Any chance you’ve noticed if your gas engine starts a lot when pulling away from stops? If you leave it in hybrid mode, you can risk a lot of short engine runs. That can cause oil dilution and trigger the software.
      First, check your oil. See if it’s showing high on the dipstick. That might indicate an issue. Note that I said might because there are some questions about that dipstick design and it’s ability to accurately and repeatedly give you a good reading. But if you are in FORM due to the dilution algorithm, go out for a nice long drive. You likely can’t go highway speeds though as it won’t get warm enough. It’s best to keep the speed down a little to get it really warmed up. If that doesn’t do it, sometimes an oil change is the only way.

      @@Wrangler4XEFans Thank you for the response. I honestly have not noticed the engine starts. Having a hybrid I have only been watching the charge status and the gasoline usage. It's an awesome vehicle...but this FORM thing has me concerned. I'm going to reach out to the service department today at the dealership.
      Question: Will running in E-Save mode clear the issue? And, should I just run in Electric mode only around town?

    • @Wrangler4XEFans
      @Wrangler4XEFans  Год назад +1

      @@edmondgiroux You can use eSave and put it in charge mode in the Uconnect. Go out and drive for like 45 minutes. You have to get the temp up and hold it there.
      You might not have the greatest luck with the dealership. A lot of them will say it’s normal operation and send you on your way.
      Yes, use electric mode as much as possible around town. Watch your tach on the left to see when your engine is running.

    How is e-Save less efficient than manual?

    • @FaithElements
      @FaithElements Год назад

      Be cause of the added work the engine is having to do to either charge or hold the battery level. The charging process takes energy. It's a thermodynamics thing.
